Met up with Lynsey this morning for the Provo city 5k. Rain/ hail/ snow- we ran in it all! Good thing it was only 3 miles! I had so much fun at this race despite the fact that I started going into shock when it was over. Seriously, I started feeling loopy and my fingers had no dexterity. My goal this year (because we all need a goal for something right?)  is to run a 5k in 20 min or less. Looks like I am closer to that goal than I thought! During the race I knew I could've run faster but I didn't. I was afraid of crashing and burning to soon. But next time I'm going to punch it even harder and I WILL meet my goal.

Side note: I ran 4.50 at the gym later this afternoon as well. Felt good.

Ran 5 miles in 35:16 this morning. I was surprised I was able to- since my back hurt all day yesterday from my speedy run on Saturday. I worked on the eliptical for 55 min as well. Lifted lot's of weights and did some abs. Hopefully do a longer run tomorrow.

**pm Update**  went for a run at 7:15 pm. Ran 3.60 in 26 min. That's all I could muster out tonight. My legs felt like bricks tonight. Yuck

I woke up feeling like death and when working out, I was dead weight. Yesterday killed me (morning run & eliptical, weights abs, evening dance class, then came home and ran 3.60). So i jumped on the elipitcal for an hour. Somewhere in that time I worked up the guts to run on the tread, just 3.50  It killed me all the same. I was thinking about running outside tonight but I think doing that will require peeling my dead body off the couch to do it. I don't think I can do it. I need carbs today.

Tomorrow is at least an 8 mile run on the agenda- maybe 10 if I feel good.

Anyway, meet my only little girl Maile:

Ran 8 miles in 56:58. Probably the fastest I've run 8 so far. Kira and I got to talk between taking major breaths. She's a good friend- and about 1/2 inch taller than me. Can you believe it?

Worked on the elipitcal for 15 minutes as well. Worked on abs. Am here at home listening to John Mayer's song "edge of desire". I'm lifting my free weights right now. Next is some pilates core work and I know it's going to hurt. Beautiful day today! I think I'll go for a run this afternoon. I'm going to register for my fav race (speedy spaniard).  My goal this year for that is to NOT sprain my ankle or any other injury two days before- and totally beat last years time. I know I can do it...

This is great, I just found this picture on my friends blog. The road that runs along those tall skinny trees is part of the speedy spaniard route. It's so beautiful. Here in the SF we call it "tree road". I spent tons of time down here getting into teen trouble and such. Burt, come run the speedy with Merri Lyns and I!

My workout started out by me dropping my clean sweat towel on the dirty gym floor. Right on.

Ran 6 miles. I don't remember my complete time but I know my average pace was 7:05.  I still like morning workouts best.

Ran 10 miles this morning with Julie. My legs still hurt bad! My shins were painful as well as my quads. I think dancing on Mondays aggravates things. Don't be fooled, 10 miles is kind of a long way but I had to stop a few times and catch my breath. Julie and I both felt like whimps today. But we kept at it. I'll post splits later. Can I just say that talking while running is very hard. I haven't lifted at the gym for a few days so I'll have to squeeze that in tomorrow morning.

13.2 this morning in 1:36 Julie Kira and I had such a good time. I worked julie over on the speed intervals so hard. She was sweating so bad. But she wants to get faster this year and so I will oblige! I feel so good- I know later I'll be cryin' foe mercy. :)  Lifted weights a little before and after the run. Worked on abs. Have a picture and video to post in a bit. Good times!

I also just registered to do the Memorial day 5k in Orem. The goal: 5k in 20 min or less. I think I can I think I can..... I CAN DO IT!!!

Goals this week:

Monday: 6 mile tempo run, 30 minutes eliptical, abs.  Possible low mileage pm run

Tuesday: 10 mile run, weights, abs, rubber band resistance at home afterwards

Wed. Elipitcal the whole time, abs, pilates at home afterwards,

Thursday: 4 mile run, Eliptical for 45-50 minutes, weights. Possible low mileage pm run

Friday: eliptical (no run, want fresh legs for a longer saturday run). Work abs. Rubber band resistance at home.

Saturday: 14 mile run.

Long term goals:

♦ I only drink 1 soda a week, usually on Friday evenings @dinner. So my goal is to not drink anymore soda for the rest of the summer. I know I can do this. I've done it many times before. Not addicted to it, so it will be easy :)

♦ Not have anymore sugary desserts or whathave you until Lake Powell June 28-july 2

♦ Increase my speed in tempo runs mile 2-6 (preps you for a 10k)

♦ 5k race in 20 minutes or less

♦ 10k race in 45 minutes or less

♦ Make pilates happen! Do it 3 times a week Until the end of August

♦ Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily (which I mostly do anyways, I don't drink anything else)

Ran 6.2 dreadmill miles in 45.36. It was at a tempo pace: first mile at a moderate pace, then miles 2-6 a  faster tempo that stays consistent. I wish I could post my splits but my garmin didn't transfer the info correctly and now it's all lost. Oh well. So then I worked on the eliptical for 33 minutes. Abs for 5 minutes. Got over that and went home. I actually did the rubber band today and some lunges at home. More than I expected. But shoot, I am just beat. I realize that sometimes I just do to much and I need to lay off.

Highland dancing tonight and maybe a quick little run outside.

**pm update** ran 2 miles at the gym while waiting for a tanning bed to open up.

We had Magelby's chocolate cake on Friday, then a tres leches pie from cafe rio on Sunday. So I felt like this clip this weekend. LOL. If I don't be careful, that's what I'll turn into.

And then after I ate all that cake and pie I really felt like doing this

I worked on the eliptical for 1 hr 15 min. I was up LATE last night. 11:40. I could hardly get out of bed this morning. I did lift for about 15 min and worked my abs a tiny bit. Personal note: were buyin' a boat WAHOOO

Ran 6 miles this afternoon. There is a guy that I totally want to round house kick to the face in the gym at night. He is totally on roids and is totally stuck on himself. He constantly walks up to the mirror and flexes and stares at himself. It drives me nuts! I think he caught me giving him a dirty look. Meat head

oops forgot to mention I did pilates this morning in a lame attempt to get myself going and feel motivated. It didn't work

Sat evening run. 5.75 on the spanish fields river trail near my home. I love running that path, but at night the bugs are out.  I think I may invest in some shop glasses to protect my eyeballs from the bugs. But what will I put over my mouth to prevent bugs from getting in it?

Here's a picture of me and Julie who I run with most mornings  :)  Isn't it fun to put pics on. Brings things to life!

1 hr 5 min on the eliptical. 3.25 miles running. And still on my low energy trend......feeling tired, unmotivated. I hope it comes back soon.

*pm update* ran 3.1 in 19 minutes on the tm. Hope I can do that on the road in two weeks.

here is a link for some of the album I listen to when doing long runs. If you look back at my running blog and I ran 8 or more miles, I most likely ran listening to this album. It has the best beats. I recommend listening to the whole thing to get the full effect.

Today I ran 6:50 on the tread. Did some speed intervals from minutes 30-47. Then I worked on the elipitcal for 30 minutes. Then it was out of there. Oh wait, did abs too. Shower is calling now

oh I have to mention this. Yesterday a dude in my church ward put on facebook that he is running the red rock relay and he needed 6 more people. So I put a comment below that said: "you know I can run, and fast."  Well this morning he declined me and the other girl who offered to help his team. He said he knew we would put him to shame and due to not wanting a shattered ego, he had to decline our offers. Well you know what? Screw you! Have fun with your all dude team and good luck getting the fat man on your team to take 3 legs and do it in a decent time. I noticed lately that a lot of men have ego problems if I run next to them at the gym doing 9.3 in my tm. I passed a man on the river trail the other day and when I did so, I could hear him trying to speed up. Just take reality for what it is!!! This is stupid! Oh and I can't get ANYBODY besides Lynsey to run outside with me. Everyone is afraid I'm going to force them to run to fast. Truth is, I don't always run super duper fast, I just want to run outside at a decent speed (below and 8 min mile). I didn't know that was so hard, sheesh.

1 hr 8 min on the eliptical. Worked my abs after. Done and done. Going running tonight on the river trail.

pm run on the river trail 3.50. Same old story, bugs in my mouth and eyes. But the weather felt perfect and the sunset could not be beat. Saw a beaver.  Now my left butt cheek hurts. How on earth?

What's up with this weather? I ran 10 tm miles inside with my friend Julie today. I did jump on the elipitical for 10 minutes as well. Then worked my abs doing 2 diff movements. Maybe if it stops raining this evening I'll take myself on a date outside to run :)

Total run time: 1 hr 14 minutes.

**pm update** ran 3 miles with Julie up the river trail. Beautiful yet slightly nippy evening run. It was awesome and our splits were great!

This morning I was up at 4:20. Ran 7.25 at the gym, in 49 minutes. Worked the eliptical over for 35 minutes. Lifted some upper body, some lower. Crunched the abs. Laughed with Kira. The end. Now onto a sunny day. ( I willed it here, so you can all thank me later).

BTW- Fellow blogger Merri had her bebe boy yesterday. Can't wait until post partomy is over so we can run together again :)

**pm update. Ran 3.50 up the river trail. The first mile was with my oldest son Gavin. He tried his best but turned around and went back home after the first mile.  Splits: 7:50   6:55  7:02  3:02**

Got to the gym at 5:10 am.  First thing I did (and I think it was a mistake) was work my core... HARDCORE. I did some crazy ab work. I didn't run even one mile this morning. I was on the elipitical an hour and 5 minutes. I think the last 2 days of running twice a day is taking it's toll because I had no desire to run this morning. By the end of my cardio session, I was doubled over in pain on the machine. My ribs were hurting, lower back hurt. I think the crazy core work decision was a  mistake. But I am a crazy girl, so to seal this day off, I am going running on the river trail again tonight.

Ran 5 miles in 36:08. Then I elipticized (i made that word up) with Kira for 37 minutes. Did some core work before heading home. I can't believe I may be running in rain again for that 5k on Saturday. I am shaking my head because that would be my luck. And who wants to venture out tomorrow afternoon for a race packet pick-up in memorial weekend traffic? NOT ME. So maybe I'll be a rebel and pick up my packet the morning of. Maybe I'll also be a rebel and take a hit of an illegal performance enhancing substance just before race time. j/k.  :)

Had every intention of getting up early today and at least working on the eliptical for a bit. But I forgot to set my alarm. Turned out for the best to rest anyways.

Good luck to anybody running a race tomorrow. My plan tomorrow? 6 min mile for all 3.1 Not sure if I can do it but I'll try.

First off I have to say that I did not meet my goal time. Repeat, I did not meet my goal time. I was kind of a brat when I came through the finish line and saw that I didn't break under 20 minutes. Never mind the fact that I was the first female to come through he finish, and was the open winner.  It took me a minute to get over it and be happy for the overall win. Such a brat...

2nd thing before I get to the mile for mile stuff. There is a bit of controversy regarding the accuracy of the time clock. My Garmin said I crossed the finish line at 20:39. Run13's clock read 20:55. I thought that was weird. I saw a local gal named jennifer hughes and she brought up to me that she felt like her time may not be accurate. She felt like she ran just as fast or faster than that 5k we ran 4 weeks ago. But she came in almost a minute slower. And she was only 2 weeks postpartum last time. Then, a guy I am friends with (thanks to Lyns) named Perry emailed me yesterday afternoon and asked me if I thought something was up with the their time clock. (I didn't bring it up with either of these two).  Then if you look over at Michellel's blog she states that the time clock for their 10k (same race, different distance) was not in sync. It was opposite for them though, it said they were faster than what they actually were. It's not like there is any good in saying anything. There isn't anything they can do. But hey, 16 seconds fast is 16 seconds faster and that is important to me. I'll just say this: I believe my Garmin. It's in sync with satellite and I use it almost everyday. I know it is accurate! But I digress.....

Mile 1: Got a great start off the line. I was immediately at the head of the pack with men. I never saw a single women the whole race. My Garmin says I ran a 5:54 for half of this mile. Go me go! Course is flat the whole time. There was no rain and the sun was out. It was beautiful.

Mile 2: Felt the same. Really, there isn't a whole lot to say or point out except that I passed 2 men who were in front of me the first mile and a half.  I just have to say (and no I am not a feminist) it feels so good to pass  healthy strong looking men in a race. It just shows me that I have trained my body well to use my legs to rock the speed.

Mile 3: this one was the killer. I slowed a bit to a 6:53 I don't know why. I felt myself doing it and when I realized I tuned my head into the beat and words of the song I was listening to. You'll laugh if I tell you what song and who sings it. It was on repeat the whole time. I'll just tell you that the chorus line of the songs says:

Don't Stop runnin'
'Cause without you
I've got nothin'
I know you're somewhere runnin' straight to me
Don't stop runnin'
Don't stop
Keep on runnin'
Don't stop
Keep on runnin'...

....and you know what? It worked. I started telling myself: speed up Lily, you do this every morning at super fast paces. DON'T STOP, RUN FASTER! And so I did.

the .1 is a blur because I was looking at my watch and the time clock and they weren't insync. And I hadn't quite beat my goal. But I looked over and there were a lot of people clapping for me ( must have been because I was the first female they saw through the line) and it actually made me feel good. And my kids always run to me like I'm a superstar.

I had so much fun in the park after the race and talked a few people I knew. My husband brought doughnuts and embarrassingly I ate 3 of them ahhhhh! I got my medal and the money and we were out of there. The drive home I sung at the top of my lungs with my daughter in the car to Justin Beiber's baby. :)  Good times good times.

I ♥ running. Have I ever said that it is just a part of who I am? I really mean that..........

I know it's a Holiday but I always work out on Holidays regardless. And it showed this morning that it was in fact a Holiday. There was like 7 people in the gym. I ran 9 miles with Julie and we talked the whole time. It went by fast. Julie is getting faster. I am so proud of her for pushing her speed work up.

Lifted for 15 minutes and worked my core. Shawn's leaving for 3 days to San Juan Capistrano (hometown) to pick up our boat. That means probably won't get much running in, and I'll be alone....and that kind of sucks....or blows....or bites or whatever YOU may call it.
