35 minutes elliptical. Lifted weights for 25, ran 5.30 river trail loop +highs school track laps. Osama BL is deceased, and that's all that matters today.Do you think he had a mullet when they found him?

This morning I went to golds gym to warm up my muscles before I ran outside. I walked in around 5:40 and it was sooo humid! GROSS! Get me out of here! So I just ducked in, plugged my nose, and worked on the elliptical for 40 minutes. Then I lifted weights for about 20 minutes and rock and rolled my buns out of Golds. I came home and got my Garmin and Ran up the river trail. I did speed intervals for the first 25 minutes. 7:37 to a 6:20 pace. The last 30 minutes I just ran and got into my music. The sun was out and the sky was an amazing hue of blue. I saw a beaver just off the trail. At one point, I had to do a little maneuvering and scrambling as there was a tractor parked in the middle of the trail. It has been moving boulders back and forth trying to secure the rivers edge. They expect the banks to overflow this week. So I had to go up a steep hill and around the tractor in my path. Fun times. I love running this time of year outside and most especially I just love running. My parent's should've middle named me run. hehe
Provo city 5k on Saturday! My goal: crack the 20 min time again.

| | 45 min elliptical hell. 4 miles outside running. I got to see the sun rise over Mount Loafer. I run past about a half mile of ornamental pear trees every morning and they bloom this time of year and smell sweet. My senses were definitely alive this morning. Provo City race tomorrow!

Provo City "chase the mayor' 5k (3.22 Miles) 00:21:00, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 1
Hiiiii ya'll. I did this 5k with my 3 cute friends this morning. Julie, Robyn, and Jessica. We are the crazzziest girls on planet earth! We had so much fun. We did about a half mile warm up and went to the start line as they called for the 5k. It was pretty packed. I went to the front where the race directors and the Provo City Mayor were. One of the directors is giving us directions about where we are running this year (the course was different from last year). And he says don't run over the bridge, go under it. I spoke up and said something about it being the same turn as last year, and just follow the people in front. He goes they'll be following YOU Sis! LOL! I had on a white headband and he starts yelling to the crowd and pointing at me: "FOLLOW THE WHITE RABBIT!" Hahahahahahahaha, I think I turned bright red! They gave the Mayor a 1 minute head start. Then we were off. It's showtime! I passed the poor Mayor before we even hit the viaduct. He patted me on the back and he said: go get em white rabbit! Haha I can't believe I got pinned as a target! White rabbit shmabbit. :) This course is probably one of the hardest 5k's I've done. Serious. Basically the whole thing was incline. I was dying. The only downhill of sorts was in the last half mile going back under the viaduct. I tried my hardest today. The distance went longer than a 3.1. My watch and Julie's watch read 3.22
I think I am still just trying to recover back a little bit of my running fitness after injury,. Also, I am carrying around an extra 9 lbs that wasn't there 4 months ago. After consistent running outside every morning tempo pacing etc., I'll get back to where I was. After all these things can come together, I'll feel like I am truly back to my normal. I ran with men the whole time. There was 1 gal slightly ahead of me. She looked like she was doing great. She looked like a former BYU runner from her tights she was sporting.
Run13 puts on a good race. I love them! I got to see Allie and fiddy, Jun and Chad. Fritz and a few others. Love to see my FRB homies. Splits: 6:19, 6:49, 6:57, 1:41. I wfelt slammed at the end. 2nd over all female, 1st place in age 30-34. I looked at the window and what did I see?....
Allie and FiddyJun and Lily havin' a chat. He gave me a nice surprise squirt of water on my neck. payback buddy.

Ran 1 mile. Left heel is hurting like a motha..... CUSS WORDS! That came to an abrupt end. If one thing doesn't hurt, something else starts up. My body hates me this year. My husband thinks it's because of how rigorous I've beat it up the last two years. I dunno.
Outside run with Merri tomorrow instead. She forgot she had to run in her vibrams today. Somebody tell my husband to stop bringing home bakery donuts. I'm trying to be virtuous and he's sabotaging my game plan. What in the world are Robin and I actually doing in this picture? ha!

7.90 river trail with Merri. Good conversation, great temps, came home with my hand asleep from my garmin being cinched to tight. Merri dropped at 7, I finished off with another 90. So beautiful outside!

| | 38 min elliptical. Core work. 6.3 outside run. It was brutal. My stability shoes make me feel slow and sluggish. But in return my feet feel better and my heels feel better. The wind was blowing hard off and on. Made for embarrassing and slow splits. Thanks for nothing today S.F. wind!

7.75 on the tm. I really need the weather to be better outside. Julie and I talked a bit on and off for the first 30 minutes, but once I got into a groove things just rolled. I ended doing a tempo run. I got to 5 miles in 34 minutes. I saw my older brother at the gym this morning, which is always a nice surprise. He ran for quite some time and I was impressed. Our younger brother (he's just a year younger than me) has a huge potential to be a very fast runner. However he doesn't want to get all skinny in it's process, since he isn't that big to begin with. He had some blood work done a year or 2 ago and it showed that he had a high blood oxygen level. The doc asked if he was a runner, he told the Doc: no, not much. The Dr. said 'well you should be'. He did do a UHP test where he had to run 2 miles under 12 minutes and he got it in the bag in 11 min even. Maybe the blood oxygen thing runs in the family. I'll take it :) I've been wearing this lifestrength bracelet for about a week. I've found that I have been sleeping deeper during the night and not waking up. Strangely, I do feel more balanced during workouts as well. And I'm not one easily convinced...
5k Sat. and another free 5k in American Fork with Merri and Tammy(neighbor) on Monday. Fun fun. Or is it? I dunno... Also lifted weights today.

I woke up a little earlier than planned and couldn't sleep, so I got up and went to the gym for 30 min and worked my core and a few weights. I left and stopped at the store for a few things (dinner roast mmmm). Well in the meat section some lady who was shopping looks over at me and says: 'My, aren't you up a little early to be out shopping?" Uhhhh, excuse me fatty McGee, aren't YOU up a little early to be out shopping? I was just at the gym, what's your reason? People seriously need to mind their business. Went home and put my few groceries away and met Merri at 6. Away we went on the benjamin/lake shore loop. It's a 7 mile round trip. Miles 5 and 6 are straight incline and up a good sized hill and over the freeway. The wind was blowing against us and it was rough for a bit there. But we made it. Those inclines and hills with wind will only make us stronger. There was a little dog along that road that we thought looked like a wild rabid dog. He kind of chased is for a min there. (think pepper spray) :). Dropped Merri off and I continued up the road for another mile. I think this summer Merri and Lyns and I will all be back running together like the good old days (summer 09'). Good times.

Run13 Smilecenter 5k (3.1 Miles) 00:20:46, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 1
Well hi :) Run13 5k. Summing it up: I have a pulled
tendon of some sort as of yesterday morning when I woke for my run. I
had to do a significant warm up before the race this morning to get my
leg feeling ok. Mary ann Schauerhamer was there running the 5k as well.I
actually was glad because when you recognize somebody who you know can
run well, it can push you. I took my 2 oldest boys with me this
morning to the race start. I enjoyed their company and their enthusiasm
for me. I am so glad to be that kind of positive influence to my kids.
Anyway, I popped caffeine pills which is ritual for me in short
distances, and then ran my warm up. The race started on time and I am
officially named 'the bunny' for run13 races. The race director Denny
Thorne called me bunny rabbit again today. makes me laugh. So off
we go and I decided to just try and run an even time for all splits,
which I almost pulled off until my DAMN SHOELACE CAME UNTIED! Ugh it
slowed me down starting at 2.49 miles. My splits were: 6:33 6:30 then
6:48 and 1:03. My shoelace came untied in the speedy spaniard last
summer and that threw me off bad, I was having sweet remembrance today. I
started running slower for fear that I was going to trip up on my lace!
Anyways, I made it and it was fun, came in 2nd female and had a GREAT
time afterwards. I got to talk to juliec again (who ran the 10k). A
women who ran the 10k recognized me from the cookie crumbler a month
ago. It made me laugh. After wards they had a kids 1k and 1/2 k.
My oldest son Gavin won the 1k. My 5 year old daughter Maile (pronounced
Mylee) and my 3 year old little boy Brooks ran the 1/2k. The race
directors asked Mary Ann and I to lead the kids races. So I was able to
lead the tiny kids 7 and under in the half K. My Maile was the 2nd girl
and 5th overall. I was proud! Brooks ran the whole thing and didn't do
to shabby for a 3 year old either. It made me cry. I am really glad I am
that positive influence in my kids lives. When they did the children's
awards and announced my kids names, they said: 'ah, no surprise Gavin
Wheatfill....and Maile Wheatfill.' Hahaha! Made me laugh! | Comments(16) |

I've had a realization of sorts the last few days. I have been dealing with a self confidence issues in my running abilities for a while now. It all started with that 8 week injury in January, and then it has been further exasperated by the little injuries afterwards ( PF type thing, phantom knee pain, and now a sore tendon). I feel like just when I work back up to my old self, something will start hurting and my confidence takes a hit again. The injury from the winter and now all the other little ones that keep popping up are all on my right side/leg. It makes me wonder if there is some kind of mechanical issue going on with me on that right side. Anyway, this morning during my short run which was after an hour on the elliptical, I realized that I just need to be happy with what I can do in the moment. I don't want to let the little things deter my vision of the goals I have this year. If I need a running rest for a week, than so be it. I think the mind plays a lot of games with us in our running abilities. Today I just had to dig deep to remember all the adversities I've gone through to get where I am now. I am not going to let a little pain stop me from the things I will accomplish. That doesn't mean I will ignore them and run myself into the ground, but if I am feeling good and run a race, then I won't tell myself that I can't do a certain time. I won't throw a grim outlook on the rest of the summer just because my knee might be bothering me a bit (or a sore tendon!) . I am just going to change my mindset and hope the rest will follow suit. That's all. Happy Tuesday.
