It's March! We're creeping up on the end of Winter. We made it! I ran 7.4 in my Nike Free Runs for the first time today. They felt great. I had some cramping in my pirformis, but nothing throwing out a red flag so I alternated walking and running the first 3.5 miles. The last 4 I ran at an 8:06, 8:06, 7:41 7:41. I want to run faster so bad, but I am resisting. It's way to soon. 25 minutes elliptical hell.Worked core & stretching at home.

| | Ran 5.50 this morning before spinning. I can tell my VO2max level is still high because I am not getting out of breath. I pushed the pace a tiny bit harder today. 7:18. It didn't hurt, and I felt fine. No worries peeps. I am doing well. Going to see the Orthopedist this morning just to be sure. :) Spinning for 1 hour. So sweaty! She really pushes us. There was maybe one man in the room, the other 27 people were chicks. So if you're looking for a chick, our spin class is the place to go hehe :) I feel like eating so much now. Resisting.

| | Ran 9 miles, first 35 minutes were not any faster than an 8:40 pace. Next 35 minutes were around a 7:25 pace. I feel like someone needs to physically remove me from the tm! I can't stop running and I'm only supposed to do 7 at most a day. eeeeekkkkk! 20 minutes of elliptical hell that followed. A few weights. I have a cold and it's making feel like total crap. I need a slice of cake

| | Ran 7.25 in my brooks Launch. Love that shoe. 30 minutes of elliptical. Some weights and worked core. Off to Utah's dixie to visit family and run/hike in Snow canyon. Perhaps some fun in Mesquite while I'm there. Have a good weekend friends! |

I ran 6.25 on a trail near the Santa Clara river this morning in St. George. It was 53 degrees this morning when I headed out. So warmish and very beautiful outside. I saw roadrunners and jack rabbits all along the trail. This was my first outdoor run of 2011 and first outdoor run since November 26th 2010. I was followed up the trail by a hot air balloon. I looked up and they waved, so I threw out the 'seattle" sign a few times for good measure :) I noticed that I did not hurt in my injury area at all running outside this morning. Nothing hurt. It was slightly hard because of a lack of outside fitness, but I was very impressed with how I felt. So, I have concluded that I need to get outside from now on as I return back home to Utah Valley today. I need to build up my outdoor endurance -and it's that time of year.
Great run, great vacation, spending time with family is always fun. Good times!

| | Ran 10.50 this morning. A progression run for the first 30 minutes, 30-60 minutes were 1 min on/offs 7:30 to a 6:58 pace. Then 20 minutes at a 7:10 pace. Good workout. |

Ran 8.50 this morning. Today was my 10th run since coming back from injury. I did some speed on/offs again today -7:27 to 6:52. I am quite shocked that I am hitting the 6:50's already so soon into injury comeback. But it makes me happy! I also did 22 minutes of elliptical hell. Gold's gym is crawling with people earlier and earlier in the morning. It's just as bad as the new years resolutions overcrowding. I got there at 4:35 and there were more people than usual. They are figuring out my secret. Early bird not only gets the worm, but the choice of the best worm. But I'm competitive, so I'll become the even earlier bird from now on until it's light enough to run outside. :) Oh and easter candy be gone! Those sly dogs at the grocery store know what they're doing putting it out in plain sight. Fatty McGee you're the fatest.

Ran 7:50 and I hit a 6:48 pace today. I will sound like a broken record but I am shocked at how quickly and easily I am moving on up in speed after this injury! This is weird! Nothing else really special to note about my run. An older lady, who is very kind by the way, -she just can't get enough talking to me. If you've done true speed work, you know how HARD it is to try and carry on a conversation while doing it. Well she didn't get the hint. So first chance she got distracted I threw my headphones on and turned up loud fast music and I couldn't hear her even if she tried to get my attention again. I'm sure she asked me a few questions after that, but she got no responses. :) I self-inflicted deafness. 30 minutes of elliptical hell with Julie. I will forever call it that. It is hell. Boring! PS- poor Julie's butt! We are strangely alike in so many ways. Same hurt in the same area in the same year. Julie needs to stop following my footsteps! ..and driving grand ams :)

This morning I passed on the stinky gym and slept in a little. I woke up at 5:45, dressed, found my garmin, pepper spray, headphones and gloves and walked outside my door and hit the river trail for the first time this year. It was kind of dark when I left but not to bad. I passed a neighbor (Crystal) who was out walking so that made me feel better to know other peeps were out as well. I started running into the wind, which made my first mile and a half really slow. But I also am out of shape in my running, so I really suck right now. I am not as quick at all. I had mixed emotions as I was running because on the one hand I am so elated to be running at all and outside! I love running outdoors. On the other hand my fitness is not what it was and that is a hard pill for me to swallow. Miles 3-6 were better than the first two. I ran the river trail loop, but didn't finish the first loop all the way around, I turned around before the last .50 of the first loop and ran it in reverse. So I am missing .50 If I run the full loop twice, it's 7 miles altogether...if that makes sense? The last mile I saw a man way up ahead of me. It looked like Julie's husband Adam. Well the competitive drive in me came alive! I came within yards of catching him. It was either him or Kyle Q. I couldn't tell. Either way, it felt good to try to catch up to someone outside again :)
Yesterday I got an email from a person who will remain unnamed :) This person was worried about the speed work I have been doing already. They were concerned that I was doing to much to soon.I appreciated the caring email and took it to heart today. I didn't push speed. In fact, I averaged an 8:20 pace the whole run until the last 1.5 were I upped it to a 7:50 pace. pm run*** ran 3 miles at the high school track. I always have fun on the track :)

Happy 311 day! In honor of this day I am going to share one of my favorite 311 songs. It's so good. Have a listen here.
I ran 4 miles, then I jumped on the elliptical with Julie and Kira for 30 minutes. I didn't accomplish a lot back there because I talk a lot :) I lifted for about 15 minutes annnnd.....I didn't accomplish a lot over there either. I was talking to people again. So I went back on the tm for 3 more miles. I hit a 6:42 today. I felt good

I ran 8 miles this morning and it felt great! I slowly progressed the first 30 minutes. After 30 minutes I upped my speed to a 6:50, then the last 3 miles I was at a 6:34. It felt so good. It's been well over 10 weeks since I've hit a speed like that. (tho I was doing even quicker paces than that pre-injury). Life is good, and cheesy as it may sound, I feel like God heard my prayers for being healed, and answered them in the way that I needed them to be answered.

This time change is killing me. So tired! Ran 1 mile on the tm. But I wanted to run outside so I quit and worked on the elliptical for 35 minutes. I worked my core then jumped in the car and came home. Grabbed my garmin and mace and ran 6.30 outside. I didn't attempt the river trail because it was really dark. Tomorrow I am going to run with my headlight. Oh and, I am not very fast outside anymore. There is work to do.
I did my first plyometrics workout on Saturday and I think it kinda hurt my low back. So I won't be doing that again for awhile.I have my first PT session today. He's a PT that works with the BYU track and field athletes.

Ran 4 miles at the gym, then I came home and ran 7 miles on the river trail with Merri. Two loops, the 2nd loop in reverse. Can I just say it was so good to run outside with Merri again. She's the coolest. I wore my garmin to tight because now I sit here and type with a numb right hand. We wore beanies and gloves.
Good PT session yesterday with James Anderson. He works with the BYU track athletes. That guy stretched me out better than anyone so far. He showed me a bunch of new moves, and isolation of muscle that I've never even seen. He is a 20x marathoner and understands the runners mind. He asked me if I had ever run a marathon. I said yes but just one. He then asked my marathon time. When I told him a 3:09 his jaw dropped and he said, I've been running all my life and I've never gotten quicker than a 3:21. He said let's get you back in top condition so you can beat that time :) Of course I'm not going to argue that!

| | Met Julie at 6 for a double river trail run. We both wore head lamps. I have mace, so we were good to go! It wasn't to cold out today. Our poor trail is getting the trees whacked by the city since they anticipate a possible flood of the river because of snow pack and how warm it's getting so fast. I hope our river trail looks pretty after they are done. But it makes for a sketchy run with rocks and branches on some parts of the trail. We ran pretty quick this morning. :) I am sick to my stomach this morning. I don't know what's up...

Nice double river trail loop this morning with Merri, Julie and A-hall @ 5:45. The moon was bright and looked really cool.I had headlamp issues from the start and ended up carrying the light which made for a Lily disco. A-hall said maybe this how we get 'Lilyfied!'. My headlamp must have been buggin', it even bothered me. So after the first loop Merri's hip was getting sore. She dropped off and took my headlamp to my porch. No more Lily disco. I had Garmin issues as well. I was a mess this morning.I locked up my watch and so I have no pace info. Between my sore butt, Julie's sore butt and Merri's sore hip, A-hall was the only one running without a sore something or other. And he ran mostly to the side on the dirt or the grass. Last mile I did alone in the hood. The wind wasn't very cooperative at times this morning but whatev. Sorry Adam, I can't help but call you A-hall now. :)

Ran 8 miles on the tm. Speed intervals for the last 30 minutes. Elliptical for 30 minutes. Weights.. Driving home from the gym I stopped at the track and put my garmin on. I ran 2 consecutive miles each in 6:35. Speed is coming back. :) I did not hurt today at all. This is good.

9 miles on the tm. Progression run for the first 30 min. 1 min on/off's for 30 minutes. Last mile I ran at a 6:40 pace. 25 minutes elliptical. I was exiting the cardio area and I always get stopped to talk to someone. ( merri this was not you, I initiated that) This is becoming a problem. I don't want to be in the gym any longer than I have to. I need to learn to muzzle my mouth or avoid the cool peeps that want to chat. I need to find a way to get out of the cardio area that is sneaky so I am not stopped by others. I already walk all the way around first thing when I get there, so I can avoid a few people. Don't get me wrong, I love to talk and be friendly and social. But when you have limited time in the morning or you want to get more things in, it's just not feasible.I wanted to lift a little today and I didn't have time.

8.50 on the tm. Part of the run was with Julie. Some speed on/offs, but not much. Elliptical for 25 min. I kind of feel like that's just to much cardio today. Lifted weights for 15 minutes. I don't know what is up with my font. Everything is changing on its own and there's nothing I can do about. haha this is making me laugh...I did not make this bigger, it just suddenly changed. nice...

Up all night...no energy...popped a caffeine pill at 5:30 and out the door. I was able to do 8.50 and I hit my old speed today (6:20). The caffeine helped but I was amazed that I was able to run like I used to. And no pain during or after. I feel things are the way they used to be.To the avg. blogger this isn't a big deal, for me this is a big deal.
Weights and worked core.

7 miles 7:15 avg pace and some core crunching. I like how I am spending less time in the gym by doing less talking. I feel more productive in my workouts. Buffalo run tomorrow! If anybody is looking for something to do, you're welcome to come help me at my aid station. :)

10 miles,1 min on offs -7:40 t0 a 6:45 pace. Weights. Buffalo run was pretty cool. I saw Jun, Scott W., Kelli Stephenson, JD,Oreo, gdoc, Bryce, Dale, Davy Crockett, flyonthewall, and I am sure a few others, I just can't remember at the momento! The true test of endurance on Saturday wasn't those out running the trails, it was me. How long can one girl hold her urine so as to avoid the ULTRA DISGUSTING POP's? I am the one who won the endurance ticket on Saturday. I held my pee the whole day. I went in one POP and it was SO SO SO bad. I couldn't do it. I held my pee from 6 am -3:30 pm. Nice.
Some thoughts I had during Saturday helping out: -not sure I like the island. It's to windy. -Some of the trail running women were a bit rude. They were demanding, fussy, hard personalities. You can think I am rude, but it's just the truth. The men that I encountered were all very gracious and kind. They said thank you's and had smiles on their faces. It made my day.
-Trail running is hard. I like any kind of running. But I realize more and more that I am a road racer and I'm good at it. Road racing is just as hard, but in different ways. -You can't please everybody when volunteering and you will hear and be asked every question imaginable. -College co-eds are getting dumber and dumber.

| | The tm said I ran 10, but I discounted a little because near the end of my run a stopped and walked a few minutes. It was just your normal run with some speed on/offs. Worked core. Still running pain free. Almost back to my normal running self. Now if we could just get it to warm up outside.....

That was my fastest mile this morning. My friend Jen joined the FRB, go say hi to Jen when she post something up this week. She's pretty cool :)
