I got to the gym by 5 and lifted weights until 5:40. Then I went home and strapped on the garmin and ran 8.80 around my hood, main street, and the high school track.

...about that track. Men do not like to be chicked, double lapped or triple lapped. They get a little furious. This guy was letting all his emotions show. Dumb.

I registered for SGM this morning. Crossing my fingers that I'm picked in the lotto. I think I could shave 4 or 5 minutes off my Marathon time there, plus my Mom and dad live there. I would have a place to stay that is quiet. A good nights sleep. A ride to the bus loading, and a ride home after the marathon. :)

Have a good weekend everyone. Beautiful day out there!

11 miles. Last 7 miles were sprint on/offs hitting a 6:08 pace. The tm wouldn't go any faster. I tried but it would shut down above a 6:08 pace.

Weights.

Ran 5.60. Mehh, nothing special today. Elliptical hell for 25 minutes. I forgot how much I hate elliptical hell. But I'll always use it as a cross training method, so I betta stop talkin' smack on it!

I slept until 5:25 today which is an hour later than I normally wake. It felt good. My legs felt trashed yesterday from my fast running on Monday. So today I knew I was going to take it easier. I ran 4.10 on the tm. My left pirformis started tightening and hurting a bit, so I kept my miles low today. I jumped off and got on an elliptical for 25 minutes.

I feel so bad for Julie. Her pirformis is still hurting her. She's pretty emotional about it. She hasn't run much at all for awhile now. She was obviously not doing well with it today. We went over to the weight floor and got the foam roller to help her roll it out. When she tells me her feelings, and where she hurts, it's like the twilight zone. It's like she is talking about me just two months ago. So weird. I want to help her any way I can.

Got to the gym by 4:45 and worked on the elliptical for 40 minutes. Talked with Julie for a few and a girl named Kristen Thorne. Both girls are injured and we all talked for a few minutes about it. It made me teary. I know how they feel having JUST gone through it.

anyways...  So I worked my core quick and came home and ran the river trail (6.50). The banks are gonna overflow this spring. It's already high and the snow hasn't even really melted yet. Yikes!

I am leaning towards running a 5k this Saturday with Allie. But there are a few races I am considering. There's the adoption 5k at Wheeler, the run like health at the U of U. There is a lame looking one in American Fork, a childrens benefit in Provo. Decisions. I'll prolly run with Allie though. She's the best! I want to test my outdoor racing fitness. I am pretty sure I am not going to be up to par like I used to be. But who knows. I always surprise even myself.

Ran 8.50 on the tm at the gym, since it as so wet and cold out this morning. Did a tempo run today. First 3 were an avg. start up pace (8:06, 7:50's).  Miles 4 to 8.50 were all in 6:52 pace. Felt good. As the next 2-3 months pass I will get my tempo pace faster than that (6:30's & less). It takes time after an injury to get back what you have lost. I have to remind myself that still.

I did jump on an elliptical for 17 minutes. I tried to lift weights but people gravitate to me for some reason. Though I love to chit chat, I always have somebody talking to me. I get a little frustrated at times, because I feel like I am not getting as much done as I would like. Oh well.

My back started hurting in my injury area Friday afternoon, so I didn't run a 5k Saturday. I took it easy for 2 days. It paid off. I felt fresh this morning. (10.25 miles) I wish it wasn't so cold though. I would have liked to run outside this morning. Perhaps I'll be more brave tomorrow. And perhaps I'll find another race to run this Saturday.

It's going to be a long day today. My Dad is having his right kidney removed this morning. The kidney is ridden with cancer. He is also in kidney failure, so he will have to start dialysis shortly after.  I hate this aspect of life!

8 outside. I felt kind of slow and sluggish. Must have been my two-a-dayer yesterday. (ran the river trail last night).  My fastest time this morning was on the high school track. I always stop there on my 2nd loop around to run some fast laps.

I am toying with the idea of running the SLC half on Sat. Maybe this is completely dumb of me to try. Maybe I should just do the 5k there. Decisions.... I just don't know how I would do in a half distance right now. I didn't run for 2 months straight, and only started back running about 6 weeks ago. So that's my hold up on a half. In another month I'd be ready.

ART therapy today.  This means preparing to feel like I was hit by a truck tomorrow.  :)

11 today. Speed intervals for 4 miles. Nothing special. Still waffling on driving up to the expo to sign up to run. I am leaning more towards 5k. I am kind of struggling right now with my running confidence. I don't know what I am capable of since being injured. I have a high bar for myself and so it's hard. I am scared to run a race.... but the only way to know where I am at is to run one. It's a big cycle of malcontent. eeek!

So let's talk Boston. I should be there :( but so should Allie! We didn't register in time. By the time I remembered, the website was so clogged up I couldn't even get on before it sold out. I can't stop thinking about how I should be going there tomorrow :( Sad!  BUT, I am stoked to watch Nan and Kara Goucher run. I follow Goucher's competitor blog. Love her. I signed up last night to receive text message tracking on their progress. I signed up to track our own Carina as well. I am excited to see how these ladies do!

Ran 2.5 miles then I kinked a nerve in my neck somehow. Stood there for 10 min trying to rub it out. Helped only a little. Ran 2.50 more but I was hurting. So I was banished to elliptical hell for 30 more minutes.

Weights! Boston!

It's Friday! Yay!

2 more pm miles at the track with Gav.

This morning I ran 6 on the dreadmill, speed intervals 7:40 pace to a 6:22 pace. Boy did that feel good! I had a lot of energy this morning. Then I crunched my core and came home and ran 4.5 more on the river trail, and some on the high school track. My outside pace was a consistent 7:25 pace on the roads. On the track I was able to speed up more and was hitting a 6:40 pace. I love running fast!

I am currently getting texts tracking Kara Goucher and Nan Kennard at Boston.

30 minutes of elliptical hell. 4 miles on the dreadmill, then 3.5 outside on the river trail. It was worm suicide out there this morning. SICK!

Going to start running in my axioms everyday and see if my foot pain goes away. If it does, I'll know it was all my other neutral shoes hurting me. I trained in axioms all last spring and summer. Brooks Axioms are for pronators. Went to the Dr yesterday and he thinks it may be a fascia problem. But not plantar, another part of the fascia up close near the big toe. If I do better in my axioms, then I'll know I was misdiagnosed as a neutral shoe wearer. Then somebody at runners corner is in trouble with me!

by the way, the river trail has crested its banks under the bridge. Kind of scary! I hope it doesn't flood the whole trail. Then I can't run there for awhile

10.25 on the tm with Meeerrriii! :) About 3.5 into my run, I doubled over in pain. I had some sharp pains and cramping in my upper abdominal/ribs area, OUCH! I went and sat down (doubled over) for about 10 minutes in the weights section. Roids (roy) and Dr jimmy Brown thought it would be funny to offer me a drink, and then try to squirt it on me. What the? You don't pick on a girl who's doubled over in pain. It's okay, I got them back! I told them they looked gay  :)

side note: the tm said i did 11, but I rounded down because I jumped off the tm a few times to dry the mass sweat off. No worries, it's nothing like Burts  daily waterfall.

Yesterday I was going through pictures in my picasa, and I realized I never posted any pictures from my TOU experience. So I'll throw these in just for fun. Let me know if you can't see these mmmk?

8.5 outside. Some days outside I can run pretty quick, other days I run slower. I don't understand why. These are the days I curse the 8 week injury, and the fitness I lost. Grrrrrr

5k on Saturday and I am feeling discouraged. I won't expect a sub 20 min. I feel pathetic this mornin'.

Overheard at the park yesterday from a skating teenager in goth, blue painted nails and crazy hair: "I think I'm destined to be just a regular guy."   -In your case, I would say 'regular' is a step-up. Way to aim high buddy.. aim high. ha!

Cookie Chaser 2k Riverton Utah:  7:56

The field was weak :)  Allie is a little hurt so she could not run today. But she was still there as fiddy was there running as well. 2k looked easy, but I am full of self doubt so I kept telling myself that I was going to suck. Ran it and passed Mrs. Samoa in the first .50 mile. She ate my dust and I won the 2k for females. First mile was in  6:22  :)

Cookie Chaser 5k:  20:36

The field looked only slightly better, off we go and I am running with the cookie for about the first .50 mile, then I pass her and am in the lead (among women) for a bit. The gal who came in 2nd behind me in the 2k catches up to me and we run side by side playing the passing game for the next 1.5 miles. There were 2 hills in the mix which wasn't a big huge deal but still, a hill is a hill.  Finally in the last mile she passed me and she finished 11 seconds before me. I love/hate 5k's because every year at the beginning of the year, I go through the same shenanigans with trying to figure out how to run them. I need to stop looking at my watch and telling myself I am going to fast. I really believe this is my biggest downfall. Oh and running on grass to the finish with fresh slippery snow on top did not help the time. Next week, provo city marathon, half and 5k. I am doing the 5k again and I think I'll wear my watch, but I won't look at my watch. I'll run on feel. Today's 5k time is 2 minutes slower than my 5k PR from last summer. Oh dear, I have lot's of work to do!

Love hangin' with Allie and Fiddy!
