Cookie Chaser 2k Riverton Utah:  7:56

The field was weak :)  Allie is a little hurt so she could not run today. But she was still there as fiddy was there running as well. 2k looked easy, but I am full of self doubt so I kept telling myself that I was going to suck. Ran it and passed Mrs. Samoa in the first .50 mile. She ate my dust and I won the 2k for females. First mile was in  6:22  :)

Cookie Chaser 5k:  20:36

The field looked only slightly better, off we go and I am running with the cookie for about the first .50 mile, then I pass her and am in the lead (among women) for a bit. The gal who came in 2nd behind me in the 2k catches up to me and we run side by side playing the passing game for the next 1.5 miles. There were 2 hills in the mix which wasn't a big huge deal but still, a hill is a hill.  Finally in the last mile she passed me and she finished 11 seconds before me. I love/hate 5k's because every year at the beginning of the year, I go through the same shenanigans with trying to figure out how to run them. I need to stop looking at my watch and telling myself I am going to fast. I really believe this is my biggest downfall. Oh and running on grass to the finish with fresh slippery snow on top did not help the time. Next week, provo city marathon, half and 5k. I am doing the 5k again and I think I'll wear my watch, but I won't look at my watch. I'll run on feel. Today's 5k time is 2 minutes slower than my 5k PR from last summer. Oh dear, I have lot's of work to do!

Love hangin' with Allie and Fiddy!

Nice work today! Did you get any cookies?

From RAD on Sat, Apr 30, 2011 at 14:41:48 from 98.202.17.113

You did an excellent job despite thinking you have lots of work to do - especially with the conditions! Running on snow covered grass I would fall on my butt. Good work Lily! Way to catch those cookies and show them who is boss. Hopefully you got some hardware for your efforts as well as cookies!

As far as the watch thing goes, that is why I can never look at my watch in a race! It plays way too many mind games with me "I can't run this fast!" "you're going to burn out and get passed!" "Hello?!? you are too slow to be hitting that pace." Yeah, the negative brain loop goes on and on if I KNOW what I'm running. I just run by feel - asses what is going on and if I can give it any more or not. I can usually push myself further and faster by going off how I feel than looking at my pace. Just my 2 cents.

That sounds like a lot of fun chasing the cookies :) Your time is still great even though it isn't a PR. I'm excited to see how you progress this year.

Hope you ate some cookies.

Great post-injury debut 5k! I am sure you will be slashing time like crazy although this is nothing to sniff at! Great job!

Conditions being what they were today I think you did quite well. It's also been a while since you've raced that distance and I'm sure its tough to get the feel back. 2nd overall is awesome. Way to go.

I knew you'd do great!!! Way to go and don't be too hard on yourself. Remember how long you were injured? You did amazingly well. I bet you'll be even faster in a month or so.

Beating a cookie is almost as cool as beating a bunny. Nice job Miss Lily.

Thanks for the comments. You guys all mean a lot to me.

RAD next week I will wear the watch, hit start, and not look until I hit the finish. I've always been pretty good at running off of feel anyway.

Allie, you get better and we will run again. Excited to see you Saturday again, even if you can't run.
