I wasn't sure if I would actually show up and race this. My right leg has been hurting for about 3 weeks, and I had stopped training about 3 weeks prior. But I am sick of losing money the last few years for races I can't show up to. And my leg was feeling better so I thought I would show up. daughter was running the mile anyway and I love to run her in the last half mile so I went.
This is my slowest 5k time I think. Makes sense with a lack of training and running this last year. But still pleased that I can get my legs turning over. Splits were 6:36 6:30 6:50 Good enough for 2nd overall female today. I know I am not as fast and agile as I used to be, but getting that back will take time. But with the injury cycle I keep finding myself in, I may never get back there which makes me sad. As I got in the car to go home, I looked at my medal and I am poitive I was given the wrong medal and award.
My daugheter who is 9 ran the mile and finshed first female. She cruised in at about a 6:56 pace. So so awesome for a 9 yeard old. She is pretty driven. I love it!
