I stayed up on Cedar Mountain in my trailer. I ran with my dad and we started out running 2 miles up this steep road with about a 10% grade. My calves were killing me! We got off the road and did some "offroading" for another 3 miles, and with half a mile to our trailer we booked it up this very steep hill. Later that night me and my Dad chased some Elk, it was a way fun day.

We had 7 out of 12 runners there today at practice. Monty, Steve O., and RJ were all at practice. It sounds like Monty and are switching spots for Wasatch so I will be running the "crazy hard" part of the Relay. Today we ran 5 1/2 miles and I started out in the front and later fell back. I ran with Fre after 3 1/2 miles. I had to go the bathroom at the park by the Dixie Center.

My Dad, Brother, Ally, Amanda, and Willy went and ran on Pine Valley Mt. It was a pretty steep up hill run. We ran for 30 minutes up the mountain, I started out with my dad but was having problems with my calves then Willy passed me up. I turned around with Willy after 30 minutes of up hill. Then we ran downhill all the way back. I was hauling and left Willy on the downhill.

Wasatch Practice- I woke up with like 5  hours of sleep and was feeling sick to my stomach. I decided that I would start out slower and work my way up and see how I felt. I ran the first 3/12 miles with Ally, and RJ. We we were far behind my dad, Ruth, Zac, and Willy wasn't too far ahead. At the park Ally, Zac, Willy, and RJ took a breather but I didn't and finished the rest of the run a lot faster. Willy pushed at the end.

I ran over to Washington Elementary taking weird streets along the way to get about 3 miles in before actually hitting the school. I felt sick again this morning and I tried running the sickness out during the 3 mile warm-up. We ran 4.7 for our actual work-out, I ran with Zac, and Willy most of the way. Baker, Steve, Ruth were in front of us. I was feeling sick during the 4.7 run. Shoot! I still feel sick. Run Time: 54:23

Wasatch practice- Today we ran repeats instead of Webb Hill. For our warm up we ran from the little valley stake center to wells fargo. Started our first mile  at wells fargo, running along a bike trail. Then we ran another mile to the park by the dixie center. Took a a break at the park and ran 4 800's back to wells fargo. Then our cool down back to the stake center. It seemed like a lot of the runners were having stomach problems. My Dad, BOOZ, Fre, Bake, Ruth, Willy, Amanda were the runners there tonight.

warm up: 5:04, mile 1: 5:59, mile 2: 6:17, 1st 800: 3:02, 2nd 800: 2:58, 3rd 800: 3:04, 4th 800: 2:55, cool down: 5:28 RUN TIME: 5:28.

XC Practice- I ran an easy 3 miler with Fre. We started out running with Ruth, and Holt but later died to preserve energy or something like that. You know what they say: 3 miles is better than no miles. 10k and 5k next 2 days.

It was the most competitive summer games race I have ever raced in. Coach Holt took 2nd overall and my dad won his age group. I PR'd on this course, so I was happy about that. I was feeling sick through miles 4 and 5. I think I have a lot in the tank for tomorrows race, we will see what happens. I didn't get my 1st mile split.

split after 2 miles: 11:17.47, mile 3: 5:43.75, mile 4: 6:25.43, mile 5: 6:42.41, 1.2 miles: 6:25.46

first 3 miles: 17:01.22, Race time: 36:33.7 (5:52 Min/Mi)

I had a horrible race, its that plain and simple. I felt sick and was way sore and I just suck at running. I can't even beat a girl or a 47 year old man with a torn miniscus. I am real mad at myself right now, to describe how I feel I am going to "quote" a part of a Sir Elton John song: "I think I'm going to kill myself, cause a little suicide". Thats pretty much how I feel. The only thing getting me through my depression right now is the Suns shorts, jersey, and Jerome Bettis shorts I got from my bro in the Phillippines. Jessica Alba is also helping me get through the hard times, cause she's so hot!

I'm just kidding about all the depression stuff, life is good! I'm not going to let one bad race take me down.

Started out me, Bake, and Fre singing. Then Bake and everyone else left me and Jeff alone. It was an easy day, well I made it an easy day.

Last day of Wasatch Practice and we ran 16 60 second intervals with a 60 second jog in between. I really stayed consistent through each run so I was happy about that, I was always about the same distance behind my dad and Baker. Later on Jeff, Monty, and Willy moved up and ran the last couple real well. WASATCH IS GONNA AWESOME!

Leg 10- Our Team started at 3:00 PM. The six in the first van ran a lot slower than we thought they would. I guess the heat really sucked to run in. I started my leg at 9:12 PM. It started getting dark throughout my run, and I was feeling alright but I kept relaxed because I didn't want to run too hard for on my first leg. I got confused at the end on where to go, and the headlights of the oncoming cars were blinding me.  My run time was: 23:17.

Our Team Was:

Van 1: Paul Zabriskie (Coach),  Alex Baker, Zac Zabriskie, Adam Forsyth, Alex Busenbark, Eric Goold, and Jeff Frodsham.

Van 2: Ross Decker (Coach), RJ Smith, Aaron Montague, Steve Ott, Myself, Austin Smith, and Willy Heinrich.

Leg 22- After eating, watching my friends chase a skunk, and sleeping for about 45 mins. I was ready for my 2nd leg. I thought it was going to be 6.4 miles, but I heard that someone who had their Garmin had it at about 6.8 miles. I started this run at 4:19 AM. Steve O. ran his whole leg with some kid, so I tried keeping up with his brother during the beginning of my run but he was a lot faster than the kid Steve ran with so I let him go. During the run I was alone a lot of the time, and it was dark and scary. I probably passed 4 people and got passed by 2. I rolled my ankle at one point and it was starting to hurt al little, but I just stayed relaxed and finished the run. Run Time: 45:30.

Leg 34 (RAGNAR)- I wasn't even going to run ragnar, but about 3 weeks ago Aaron and I decided to switch places because I was in better shape. 12:17 PM- I got the "slap stick baton" from Steve and was real motivated to not walk and run real smart. I was running with my dad and he gave me awesome advice! Every .8 miles I would get water from my truck that I would pour all over my body to keep me cool (it really helped). About 2 1/2 miles into "Ragnar" I walked for about 15 seconds than kept running. I kept my strides real short to straighten out my back and whenever there was a flat part I ran fast in a relaxed way. I walked a little with about half a mile to go. I finished real strong when I saw the exhange zone. I passed about 18 people on Ragnar mainly because a lot of them were walking. Run Time: 44:48

LATER:

Everyone in my truck(vehicle 1) started to run with Willy with about 800 meters to the finish line. With about 300 meters to go everyone in vehicle 2 joined the group and all 12 of us ran to the finish line it was AWESOME! We got our medals and celebrated! We are definitely coming back next year! Our Finish time was: 22:59:59
