STG MARATHON 2025 (26.2 Miles) 03:08:55, Place overall: 319, Place in age division: 26 | | Had a rough week of sleepless nights, back and butt pains. I took Th and Fri off of running because I didn’t want to hurt myself more. I even scheduled a last minute massage. Needless, to say I was nervous going into the race. I just built myself up and thought “I’m still gonna get after it”.
Race started super well and I had a ton of confidence and swagger. Had an early Matt Searle sighting but not too many other familiar faces. I ran every mile through the first half exactly how I wanted, not too fast but still had some fun. Easiest Veyo I can remember. Best part, my butt/back pain seemed like a non issue (thank you St. George Day Spa). Ross and I taped some hydration stuff to mile posts and those were clutch at different points of the race.
At around mile 14 I was ready to roll out my second dose of “anti-cramp” pills but the pills were all stuck together. For like 4-5 miles I tried loosening those bad boys. At around 19 I tossed them to the side. Cramps twinges started to roll on the fun downhills, I started to loose my speed confidence.
Got to mi gente at mile 22 and stopped to put some icy hot on my legs. Jake Saari Trevor Prior Benji Williams some guy called brennan and Mr. President jumped in with me and provided some much needed support in the way of conversation and beverage. They witnessed the start of some cramping.
Made a business decision to slow down and straight leg shuffle down to Diagonal. I did the math and figured 3 10 minute miles would still get me a sub 3:10. Right at mile 24 I high fived a student and turned into a statue. Both hamstrings and quads seized and I just stood there for like 30 seconds. Someone rubbed more icy hot on my legs and I walked for a minute.
I moved on very pessimistic not sure how I was going to make the last 1.8 miles without cramping. Luckily Dave Holt spawned in and helped me get to the last turn of the race. He kept telling me I wasn’t going to cramp, and he was right. I endured and got to that finish line. Officially 3:08:55 and a new STG PR!

| | Running around the beautiful Sand Hollow Golf Course for Region XC. Kids dominated! Laura with the JV Girls W, BUNGUS with the JV Boys W, Emmalee with a Girls Varsity W, and Tall T with the Boys Varsity W. JV boys went 1-9!

| | AM- Towards SR. I don’t know how I felt better on Tuesday and Wednesday. My last 2 jogs have been rough. I won’t force anything the rest of the weekend……. 2.54 miles
PM- Did some running up in Springville. Think I was on Bonneville for a little bit. Nice short afternoon trail. 2.01 miles

| | AM- Hit some random roads on my own then ran 15 minutes with the boys. I tripped on some concrete and BUNGUS saved me from falling. 4.06 miles

| | AM- Roadhouse with the girls. Branched off with Avery for a couple of minutes, locking in for State. 1.95 miles
PM- Best I’ve felt since the marathon. Warm with the boys. Then I mixed in with different groups trying to help people reconnect to groups. Team looked fast and ran in packs (as they should). Got some speed in my legs today. 7.21 miles

| | AM- Up GS after some coach laps. Flipped with the lesser minute crew. 4.85 miles

PM1- 5K Ideas. Unofficial 5K route with Trevor, Jake, Rush, Emmalee, Sariah, Tyler, and kind of Benji. 3.12 miles
PM2- Run to room. .35

| | Started with all the girls then branched off with Em, Tev, and ELINDA. Solid push for majority of reps. I couldn’t hang with Em and Tev for some of the last reps so I reconnected with ELINDA. 15 cool with Em. Extra 10 cool with Master, Tev, and ELINDA.
Super positive run for my confidence and weather was glorious once again. Also saw the Real Slim Shady hanging with Desert Hells XC. 9.56 miles

PM- Hiccup Run. Down by the river with the boys. Once again, took a while to feel decent. Had some convos with Dave and Rush. 4.41 miles

| | Didn’t get to eat lunch because I got taking to D-Bag DeGraw. So I grabbed a pork chop after the warm up. It gave me the energy I needed to hit the even 400s. I ran with Em and Tay. And last 4 ran with fast Andi. Wrapped up with a fast, faster, fastest 300 acting as certain girl for people to chase down. 5.8 miles
