Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

I was up at 5am this morning walking the 'hood.  We had lots of activities tonight and I wanted to get a workout in.  Though it was torturous to drag my hiney out of bed, I really enjoyed my walk.

The air smelled SO clean after our big rainstorm last night.  Though it was quiet from cars and such, the birds seemed extra loud.  The sunrise was an unbelievable pink against the super green mountains.

I was reminded why I love getting up before the world gets crazy.  Non-the-less, I am discouraged that I am unable to run more (1 minute here and 1 minute there).  All my running friends are RUNNING - racing too.  And I am walking.  Urghhh....  My patience is wearing really thin!

37 minute walk - probably 2ish miles

3 miles walking on treadmill - 45 minutes (ran 1 minute) and ankle still feels good.  Tomorrow, I'm going to try 2 minutes.

pulls and dips

Saw lady wearing really bad hair extensions at gym.  I'm not against extensions, but with the pounds of makeup on her face and hooker pink crazy outfit it was hard not to notice her.

I was planning on going to spin today, but they started the class 15 minutes early.  Urghh....  Ankle feels really great.  Tomorrow I am going to try 3x1 minute  run.

My hubby is finally home and the kids have been taken off the street!  Went to the gym and did 5 minutes of the stair climber.  Then walked 2.3 miles (35 minutes).

The awesome part of the workout was seeing a young man that lives 3 house down the street.  3 years ago he had a massive stroke and was not expected to live.  But alas, he has and has made major improvements.  His left side is still very weak.  He is going to be walking a half marathon soon and is trying to train for it.  His parents signed him up at the gym and got him a personal trainer so he could be strong enough.  What a great kid (and great parents)!

I lifted this morning before spin (legs).

Spin

Had a daycare lady come get me early from class.  My Peachy had tripped on a toy and busted her lip open.  Off to the doctor office and then the ER.

They told me she would probably be put to sleep since she is so young (2) and would be wiggley while they did the stitches.

But she was a CHAMP and took the local numbing and didn't move.  She thinks her hospital bracelet is cool.  Hooray for my good friend who took my big kids during our brief hospital trip.

Thankfully, this has been our very first trip to the ER and it was only stitches.

My ankle has been really achy the past 2 days and I am not sure why.  Frustrating!  This recovery business is taking WAY TO LONG!

I walked this morning (no running) for 35 minutes.  I am beginning to like the cardio cinema room at the gym a lot more.  It makes the time go by so much faster!

It was really fun to meet everyone on Saturday!  A BIG thanks to Kelli for planning and hosting!

I went to spin class this morning.  The instructor was subbing from another gym and was amazing!  Best class I've ever been to.  Love the squats in the middle of it!

Saw Karate Kid tonight (I LOVED the original one when I was a kid).  It is still just as dorky :)

13 mile bike ride (lots of hills) and ran for 1.5 minutes.  It was so beautiful this morning - lots of hot air balloons, runners and bikers.  Once the sun was up, it got hot though.

Off to a day at the water park!

I was too lazy to get out of bed this morning, so I did my bike ride this afternoon (and it was HOT).

13 miles - 1:06 (man I am SLOW)

I ran alittle past the mailbox (maybe 3 minutes).  Too many jiggles!

10 min walk before spin (2x1min run).

 Spin was hard.

We are celebrating 6 years old at this house.  The most important celebration is the fact that Tim and I survived 6 years of raising 4 kids.  Yay....we made it another year!

The excitement level has been through the roof today.  We started by decorating cupcakes.  Love that sugar high at 8 am!  They turned out really cute:

We had a few melt-downs today (some of us have a hard time handling all the excitement - can you guess who?).

Off to the roller skating rink we go!  They allow the kids to ride scooters (and roller skates) and they had inflatables to jump on.

25 kids, pitchers and pitchers of lemonade, great friends, round and round the roller rink, lots of presents, tired Mom and Dad - a great way to celebrate 6!
