Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

My ankle has been really achy the past 2 days and I am not sure why.  Frustrating!  This recovery business is taking WAY TO LONG!

I walked this morning (no running) for 35 minutes.  I am beginning to like the cardio cinema room at the gym a lot more.  It makes the time go by so much faster!

It was really fun to meet everyone on Saturday!  A BIG thanks to Kelli for planning and hosting!

Sorry about your stinkin' recovery! I certainly hope that you can get it feeling better one way or another.

It was SO nice to meet you and chat on Saturday, we'll have to plan a July/August run in Lehi :)

We are all so darn cute!!! But, man, do I like tired. Thanks for traveling out to see us, and for bringing the nummy cake, AND for missing a family party to do it!

Sorry about the frustrating recovery. I wish you lived by me, I would totally go walking with you and then it would be FUN!!!!! It will come, be patient (as if any of us know how to do that, right???)

i know who everyone is except for the 2 people holding kids. WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?

and, oh my goodness, rachel is skinnier than me and she is giving birth in less than 12 hours. i don't hate her, i don't hate her, i don't hate her.

From RAD on Tue, Jun 22, 2010 at 03:56:04 from 67.172.229.125

KP, don't let the dark green box I'm leaning against and the planned slimming black shirt fool you!

The lady with the baby next to me is Misty - Walter's wife, she has a blog, but doesn't blog a ton.

The guy kneeling down with the baby is Steve Piccolo. GREAT guy, I'd never met him or blog stalked him before :), but nice guy!

Do not let Rachel lie to you, she is a skinny stick with a little belly!!!!

I thought that was Steve. He has the pic on the piano. I did not know Misty though. She must be holding baby Boston. My goodness... I stalk too much. ;)

Look at all you fun people! What?! When was Burt in Utah! Man I am missing out on too much. I need to start spending more time reading the blogs and making comments. Sorry about that ankle Toby! That is so frustrating!

Toby - you're lemony cake was to die for!

Sue - I still haven't figured out how Kelli planned this behind my back. Somebody show me!

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 14:48:46 from 71.219.99.30

BY MAGIC!

I only feel bad that I did not think of it earlier so more people could have made it and that picture could have been HUGE!

From Burt on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 15:01:28 from 206.19.214.144

Well, it was awesome. Thanks Mikelle!

Anytime, next time I want the party to be when I am well rested and functioning so I can talk to people in coherent sentences.
