Favorite Running Quotes:
1.
"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.
Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.
A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."
~Nike Poster
2. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
You’ve no doubt heard this. And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape. You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.
But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal. If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.
You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time. And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

WALK/RUN: 4.44miles - 43:10
BIKE:12.34 miles - 51:27miles I had a time getting moving this morning. But once I was off, off I was.... My run felt SO fantastic. First, the weather was cooler - love that. I kept reminding myself to slow down. But I just kept getting faster. This evening, my ankle still feels good. We'll see! I was a bit unmotivated for the bike. I am just so darn slow! But I did it and now it is done. I am hoping to get a lot more biking in this upcoming week. We had a great picnic between conference sessions at the park. It was such a beautiful day!

48 minutes - 4.25 miles 3 min walk - 7 min run 4x 2 min run to 8 min walk I've been a bit MIA lately, but thankfully, I'm still getting my running in and my ankle is feeling great. I was invited to be a vendor at 3 different holiday boutiques to sell my childrens clothing. When I went to drop off a few samples, I received FIVE custom dress orders and I just received a package from a pattern designer from the Bay area to sew all her samples for the Houston quilt market. I've been in my sewing studio all day and night; my hubby calls it the sweat shop. So many good things are happening - tender mercies! Here is what I have been up too (these are just a few).: (I am totally tooting my own horn, and don't mean too, but I can't believe people actually like my stuff)

| WALK/RUN - 4.33 miles 42:47 minutes (2 min walk to 8 min run - I think I ready to gradually increase to 1 - 9)
BIKE: 8 miles 32:26 minutes
I always run so much faster outside and really had to control my speed (not that I'm all that fast). But when I go alittle slower, my ankle feels better. I'm SO FLIPPIN' slow on the bike. I tried to hit every big hill in AF to make the best of the amount of time I had. So so so slow..... Back to sewing :)

| WALK/RUN - 4.47 miles - 50 minutes 2 x (2 min walk to 8 min run) 1 x (1 min walk to 9 min run) 2 x (2 min walk to 8 min run) My ankle feels so great! I think there are a few contributing factors: I've been running really slow - 10:30ish miles (really really slow), but it is keeping my ankle happy! Also, my mind has been elsewhere (not as focused/obsessed on running). Regardless, I feel good and am progressing. Off to take my kids to a hotel for the night for fall break! It will be a good break for everyone!

| 46 minutes - 4.6 miles 2 x (2 min walk to 8 min run) 1 x (1 min walk to 9 min run) 1.5 x (2 min walk to 8 min run) Ran at the treadmill at the hotel. I could feel the "happy hour" popcorn and Coke still lingering in my tummy. But I felt really good - even bumped up the speed a little. I still can't believe how good my ankle feels. Finally progressing and moving forward! |

| 50 minutes - 4.86 miles 2 x (2 min walk to 8 min run) 2 x (1 min walk to 9 min run) 1 x (2 min walk to 8 min run) I picked up the pace today just a smidge and threw in another minute of running and so far today, my ankle feels great! Hip hip hooray! This is the farthest I've run since December 2009. I'm starting to feel a sore throat coming on, achy ears and body aches - so I hope to get to bed at a normal time tonight (no late night sewing!!!).

| WALK/RUN: 49 minutes - 4.36 miles 2 x (2 min walk to 8 min run) 2 x (1 min walk to 9 min run) 2 x (2 min walk to 8 min run) - I cut the last one a bit short, I was SO tired. I really wanted to go home and go back to bed! Ankle felt pretty good today - I could feel the effects of yesterday's a "smidge" harder and faster. So I took it easy today. No pain right now! My mini sprint is in 3 weeks and I haven't swam once. Urghhh..... my goal is just to finish. That's it!

Miles 4.3 - 43.:12 minutes 2 min walk to 8 min run 3 x 1 min walk to 9 min run I've had a bad sinus infection and finally went to the doctor to get some drugs. I still can't talk very well. I had to stop a lot during the run and cough up loogies and snot rockets (still not very good at either of those). The rain needs stop here in Moab so we can ride Slick Rock! Hooray for a long weekend with friends and no kids (and no sewing)!

| BIKE: 2.3 miles - 1:15 minutes - SLICK ROCK
WALK/RUN: 4.02 miles 40:26 minutes The weather this morning in Moab was incredible - cool and slightly overcast. I ran with Tim and our friend (his wife opted to stay back). Considering that running is the ONLY thing that I am better at than Tim, I decided to pick up the pace and give them a run for their money. It was fun to make them sweat a bit! The rain finally cleared and we were able to ride the practice loop at Slick Rock (we had to out of the condo, so that was all we had time for). It took me a few minutes to remember how to ride the rock, but once I got going it was amazing. No crashes - just a few scrapes. Glad to be home and see the kids!

| Oh so tired this morning and promptly hit the snooze button. No regrets either! I rode my bike this afternoon. I'm nervous about the mini sprint in TWO flippin weeks! This is the least prepared I've been about any race - oh well! My goal is just to finish! BIKE: 12.40 miles - 49:41 minutes (I did this 7 minutes faster than the last time I did this route!)

| WALK/RUN: 20 minutes - 1.87 miles (1 min walk to 9 min run) Ankle felt really achy this morning, so I stopped at 20 minutes and got on the stupid elliptical (oh how I hate that machine) for 20 more minutes. I think I ran too fast this past Saturday and I'm paying for it now!

| WALK/RUN: 47 minutes - 4.2 miles (1 min walk to 9 min run) I'm not sure how my ankle feels - some moments it is good and some moments it is achy! I've been running around all morning to various Halloween stuff for my kids. It wears me out!

| My ankle has been killing me...*sigh*! I thought I was so close, but now I feel so far away! I bike 12 miles in 36 minutes and swam 350 meters in 9:00 minutes. This mini-sprint is gonna be interesting.
