Favorite Running Quotes:
1.
"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.
Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.
A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."
~Nike Poster
2. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
You’ve no doubt heard this. And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape. You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.
But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal. If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.
You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time. And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

| I'm really starting to feel better and the soreness is almost gone. I decided to do a very SLOW shake out run to see how I feel. I didn't wear the garmin, but am guessing my pace was 10:30ish. My calves were a bit achy to start, but eventually warmed up. But my hip is still sore. I stretched, foamed rolled and did a few strengthening exercises last night. I did the same this morning. I'm not going to run tomorrow, but will on Friday. I will give my hip a week or so to see how it does..then maybe go to the doctor.

| No Garmin-no time-don't care. Much faster and my legs felt much better. It was perfect weather this morning. It felt so wonderful to get out!
My hip (and piraformis) has really been bothering this week - more so than usual. I've been foam rolling/deep stretching 3xday. So being a wussy that I am, I went to the doctor. I have hip bursitis and he gave me a cortisone shot in the hip and in the bum (for the piraformis). I really need to keep stretching and do LOTS more weight lifting. I need to get my act together!

| Decided to give my body 2 more days of rest. I went to the gym and lifted for an hour. I know that isn't a long time, but considering I hardly lift - it seemed like an eternity. I'm most certainly going to be sore tomorrow! Piraformis already feels better after the shot. Hip feel a bit better, but not 100%. Doctor said it could take 3-4 days for the cortisone to kick in. Hopefully by Monday when I start running again!

| So glad to be back on a regular training schedule..I was getting antsy! I ran 1.6 miles to the gym. Lifted legs, did hip stuff, and foam rolled. Ran 1.6 home. I was a half a mile from my house (right in the middle of all the road construction) and totally tripped and fell. It was 10.0 on the ugly scale! Granted it was pitch dark and the road is totally uneven and full of gravel and construction stuff - but it was ugly! I'm glad there was no cars to run over me. I totally ripped a hole in my favorite 3/4 length tights and scrapped up my hands, knee and hip bad. My knee is still very tender. Honestly, I am a walking tornado! All I want to do is run...no injuries, no trips...just run!

Down farmhill road
49:43 AP: 9:17 10:12, 9:35, 9:12, 8:47, 8:45, 1:11 Perfect weather this morning - I LOVE running in the fall! I wore a head lamp after yesterday's adventure. My knee is super bruised and tender to the touch, but I was able to run on it. Same with my hand and hip. Felt good to go farther this morning. I did lunges for 2 houses on the way out and way back. Foam rolling, hip exercises and stretching.

| Up farmhill road 47:47 AP: 8:59 9:42, 9:21, 9:21, 8:53, 8:05, 2:23 I went to bed last night at 9:18pm - I woke up feeling totally refreshed. I need to do that more often! I ran the same route as yesterday, but ran up the hill instead of down the hill and I ran it faster today. Interesting. I felt really great on my run today. I'm not sure "how" I am suppose to get back into training. Do I do 10% increase - or just go back to what my mileage was? 2 houses of lunges on the way out and the way back. Foam rolled and hip exercises. Rest day tomorrow!

300 N to temple route AP: 9:10 40:01 9:34, 9:21, 9:06, 9:07, 2:52 Perfect weather this morning! I wanted to do 4 miles and was afraid I was going to be short, so I added a loop around the temple. I stopped around mile 2 because the top of my foot was bothering me. I took off my shoe and rubbed it for a minutes and then finished the run. It ached during the day. Not sure what I should do, but am frustrated.

AF Creek trail to Art Dye Park
43:20
AP: 8:36
8:52, 9:03, 8:42, 8:22, 8:01
We went camping last night and I didn't get out on the road until 11:00am. And it was WARM! Hooray for the drinking fountains still being turned on at Art Dye. I ran much faster than I usually do. I think because it was light out and I wasn't dog tired!
My legs felt heavy and my right foot was still bugging - 4/5 metatarsal area. It felt ok during the run, but after the run it really started to ache. Maybe too much too soon. Ugh....
I think I will take the next few days off. I am not training for anything special and would rather rest now, then have an injury later. Actually, I would like to have a personal medical staff to tell me what to do.

| I've walked way too many miles through Disneyland this past week...but it has been off-set by the number of cokes and creamcheese filled pretzels. Mmmmmm.... My foot felt better as the week went on, so I thought I would run 3 miles with my SIL. It was a very slow pace, but SUPER SUPER SUPER hilly. I could feel my foot start to ache some. But we will see how it feels by the end of the week. We'll see!

Walking lunges for 2 houses
1.6 mile run to the gym 3x 30 calf raises 2xfront plank side plank on each side push up and swimmers 10xassisted pull up and dips 1 min wall sits 1.6 mile run home walking lunges for 2 houses
Sore from yesterdays lifting and planking. I think those planks will bring me to an early grave. That or I'm just a wimp. I think it is the later.....
I'm feeling a big discouraged that I'm not running more miles. Heck I just ran a marathon 4 weeks ago. But my body seems to be rebelling.... maybe I just needed more recovery time and did too much too soon. My right foot feels ok with the 3 mile runs, so I may try to go a bit farther on Wednesday or Thursday. BUT I need to lift and get stronger. It HAS to be a priority. But I only have so much time in the morning to run and lift and something has to give. It is only October and I still have awhile till my next real race (the turkey trot doesn't count). But subconsciously it stresses me out.

43:33 AP: 8:43 9:27, 9:14, 9:02, 8:16, 7:33 Hubby was out of town, so I had to run after I dropped everyone off at school. I didn't like it - it felt like I wasted half of my morning and I didn't get anything else done. BUT I did get to sleep in which was heavenly! Before run: high knees and butt kicks The first 2 miles, I felt like I was huffing and puffing. I felt horrible! But then immediately I warmed up and all was right in the running world again. The weather was so wonderful - cold, sunny and leaves crunching under my feet. I got new shoes...they felt like butter! Right foot felt ok...we'll just wait and see After run: just a few high knees

| My husband's travel schedule is messing with my workouts! I'm not sure if I would have gone today. Stupid foot hurts after Wednesday's run and I'm getting a cold (body aches, sore throat, runny nose). AND I have to take my kids to Gardner Village to see the dumb witches alone....grrrr. I HAVE to get tomorrow! |

| Hubby gone again, so I only had time for 2 miles before the Halloween parade started. It was crappy. My aches and sore throat have turned into a full blown sinus infection. So I was shooting snot rockets every few minutes during my 20 minute run. My PF starting acting up again. Ugh..... Tomorrow will be better! |
