Squats with the ball. 1 set of 25 both legs. Single leg squats 2 sets of 25 each leg with the ball.
IT band walks with resistant band. 3 sets of 25 on L and R sides.

Rest day, yet another hip-hop class. This time a dude named Carson taught. I have been taking various hip-hop classes around the community. I think my favorite teachers are male. I just seem to be able to be a little mo' gangsta thuggish with the guys. They know how to chillax in their dance styles.

I actually ran with my Garmin today. No music though, so I was proud of myself. I concentrated on my the sound of my feet as they hit the pavement as well as my breathing pattern. I listen to the traffic as I made my way running in the late afternoon sun.
Ran down to Sug. House P from my place (1.35 miles). Ran the outside of the park once (1.8 miles). Journeyed to a gas station for a potty break and made my way back up to foothill. On the way back up the 2 mile uphill pass I stopped for another bathroom break.
Evening Hip-Hop. The teacher was AMAZING!
I have also calculated the number of dance classes that I teach every week. I teach 15 dance classes a week and take an additional 3. My body is finally getting used to it after three weeks. I tend to get really tired during the afternoons. |

| Met Cal, RAD, Annette and a new runner friend at 12600 south 3500 west for a b-kicking run. We ran 8.5 miles up to a canyon out in the middle of nowhere. The first three miles of the run my legs were already fried and tired. I wasn't sure if it would be best to just go back to bed or keep running. After about five miles my legs were finally getting used to the uphill climb. I about died when Cal told me we had another half mile after we hit 8. We spooked a few deer as we made our way up the canyon. It as a beautiful run and it was fun to run somewhere I did not even know existed. I don't even remember the name of the canyon. Thank you to the fellow runners that made this journey possible. I can honestly say that the past three weeks of long runs were made possible by the people I have been running with. Thank you so much for the support and waiting for me when I have been late to the early mornings. My knees have been KILLING!!!! This is very unusual for me because I have never had knee issues. I went to SLC Running Co. and they told me I have been training in racing shoes. I purchased the old shoes (New Balance 1064) and I will start training in those. I hope that the shoes are the problem.... :( At the marathon I do want to run in my racers though. I will take any suggestions about this problem if you would like to leave your feedback. Congrats to all of those ran TOU yesterday. It's been really fun reading race reports.

| Taper time! I always get a little confused about what exactly a taper really means. One week out, I get it, but two? Oh well, I will try my best to really relax and recover over the next two weeks. I will mainly focus on eating a very clean, healthy diet. Elliptical 30 minutes and TM 30 minutes. My knee is still feeling pain.

| Test run in my new shoes to see how things are going. 8 around SLC area. Pain is there on the down and the uphills. No so much the flat. Made a contract with my friend stating that I would not run until the day of the marathon. :(

| First time on my bikes in months! I hate where I live for riding. The SLC area stinks! Roads are either up or down or I ride on dangerous roads with lots of cars. It felt so good to be back on my bike! My knees enjoy this type of exercise.
I went back to the shoulder doctor on Monday. They took an X-ray and my shoulder still has a big crack in it, but I am well into the recovery phase. He told me I could start back into weight baring exercises. Swimming is okay and after the marathon I will start lifting again. :)

Doctor day! I will be seeing two physical therapists today. My knees actually feel really good today. Probably because I have been eating Ibuprofen like it's candy. :{ Hope my knees are just inflamed.
PT #1. He listened to me tell him about my running history very carefully. He did a few tests to determine what exactly my problem is. Put me on heat and stem, stretched, massaged, and gave me a few exercises to do. Taped my knees extremely well. I have three appointments with him next week to get things healing. He determined that it was my IT bands being tight that are causing the issue. He believes that the new shoes I have might be throwing my alignment off. PT #2. Joel @ TOSH. . All I have to say is Joel is the coolest running PT ever! He was completely booked today and slid me in. He wants me to test out both pair of shoes on a run and see which pair is giving me the most grief. He also wants me to rest and stretch a ton this week. It is always so fun to talk with Joel about training. He has SO MUCH insight. My knees feel so much better already.

I actually ran today, my knees felt so much better. I switched my shoes out mid-run to test which ones felt the best. To my surprise I thought the Nike's were much better. I will try this experiment next week as well.
I ran up and down the hills of beautiful Kamas. I stayed the night with my Single's ward at a lovely home. Very pleasant evening with friends. :)
I rode my bike for an hour on Wasatch Blvd. Guess that is the place to bike since I saw a billion other bikers.

| 5 miles in the afternoon. Felt like I had sandbags around my ankles. This is not a good marathon sign. I figured it had to do with the fact that I was running with my kneed taped from PT and the work I had done on my legs the previous day at PT. Went back to PT. Massage. My legs feel a lot better and the knee pain is gone. I will continue to keep working my legs on the foam roller.
