Coach W turned around early with Emmalee. So crew on the way back was Adri, Brook, Elle, and Issa. Good push on tempos. 7.87 miles

| | My left ankle has been feeling tender and I should've ran this morning but I wanted to make sure my ankle could handle some via ferrata in Kolob. Did ok on the climbing. I accidentally left my belt in Jared's car so I made a destination run to go get it from his house. George joined me as we ran over towards Santa Clara at around 10pm. Wouldn't recommend running this late. 10.13 miles

| | AM- Ran on the Murdock trail in Pleasant Grove. Got 2 miles in before picking up Marieta to run 3. Then I went back up to the trail and added another 6. Nothing special, my right calf gave some muscle spasms. Also slept because we got to PG late. So it was warmer than I would've liked. 11.15 miles
PM- Ran from Cedar Hills to Pleasant Grove on the Murdock Trail. 5.31 miles

| | Woke up at 5 and headed up to the Murdock Trail. Ran towards Orem. I tried to do some tempo miles but came up flat. So I have 2 3 mile sections of a little faster pace (but still slow). I needed water early into the run too but the dumb Orem side didn't have water running in their drinking fountains. After not getting water for 10+ miles I started to feel nauseous. I struggled to 13 miles. Then picked up Marieta and headed the opposite direction on the Murdock trail. She wanted 7 miles so I slugged out another 7 feeling nauseous and tired. 20.17 miles

| | AM- Some tempo, threshold, and cv intervals. I switched between groups. Spent most of my time with top girls and freshman boys. Good efforts. Cooled with boys. 9.01 miles
PM- Well Topanga died today. Marieta took her to the vet to be spayed, and the vet doc called her a couple hours later. He said that after they gave her anesthesia she started having heart palpitations. They did life saving measures but she did not wake up. So I stayed home and buried her in my parents lawn. I'll probably head up to camp later tonight. Losing cat isn't that big of a deal. It's the just the fact that getting Topanga was an attempt to fill the void of losing Ava. So there's layers to it.
Got out for my hottest run of the summer around 3:30pm. I think it was 108. Ran out to the desert and suffered. 7.08 miles

| | AM- Woke up extra early and jogged some miles on my own. Ran some steeper hills than I wanted. 3.47 miles
AM2- Grouped up the tribe! WOMAN! Ran some more random short roads. Ended up running by Old Man River who just wanted to camp in peace. The girls climbed a log pile and sang some songs. I focused on helping Laney and Brocken finish up the last climbs of the run. Added after with tired legs. It's hard to bush whack on tired legs. 6.71 miles
PM- Ridiculous run on the short trails across from our camp site. The boys were goofy and all over the place. Fun little run though. 4.44 miles

| | AM- Best run of the week! Started out 10 strong. Eventually Kate dropped off due to her knee. Then Alianna dropped and I helped her get through some hills. Dave (on bike) helped the main pack in my absence. When Ali flipped I regrouped with the girls and we kept it together. Adri, Brooklyn, Elle, Emmalee, and Katie were very consistent. Laney fell behind on the uphills but kept fighting her way into the pack. Brecken trailed Laney with disappointment in her eyes. We survived and ran strong. For the last mile turn we got everyone together and finished strong. Once I knew the top girls were solid, with no one wavering, I went and got Laney. Very proud of her efforts to stay on the pack! Added a little on my own and shot some hoops at a b-ball court. 9.63 miles
Another remarkable camp in the books! Very positive things happening for our teams!
Highlights:
-Winning Volleyball tournament with the Dad Bods. Consisting of Dave Hall, Isaac C, Nathan B, J.D., Martha, and me. Martha wasn't going to let us lose! We beat a team of all freshman in the championship.
-Jason and I going 18-2 in KanJam. We only lost to the beer smashing college kids Nick and Alex Hill. We did not lose to any other team!
-All the games!
-Getting to know the kids better!
-Talking with Kate about her injury.
-The Guest Speakers (Nick, Alex, and Jess)
-XCTIMONY!
PM- Late night jog hoping to get rained on. 6.60 miles

PM- Bloomington Loop with Bear Claw tangent. That water fountain at the bathroom sure is nice! Pretty hot but no lightheadedness. Ran through golf course sprinklers on my way home. 6.05 miles

| | I thought I was going on a nice mapped out trail with my Dad. I should've known better. The goal was to go from Kolob Reservoir all the way down to LaVerkin Creek and out Hop Valley. However, my dad didn't know how to get to a trail he's run before. So we ran through the woods and tried to find a safe route to LaVerkin creek. Unfortunately we found a tough route. Tons of thorns and big drops. At one point I was using my Dads leg to pull me up a cliff side as he was holding onto a bush. Ran into a Rattlesnake as well. I was bummed we spent several hours bush whacking, meaning when we actually got to decent trails it would be hot. Climbing out Hop Valley was really hot and Sandy. We survived. I wish I would've spent my Saturday on a better running route. Now I'm super sore and cut up from an adventure with Ross. 14.33 miles

| | AM- Monday morning bowel issues. Started with freshman towards Sandhill. Then I bridged the gap on Coleman and other boys. I slowly made my way up the hill feeling nauseous. Caught up to Wesley pretty early. Tried to encourage him. Then moved on to Laney. Ran/walked a 17:23. I'll have to go back when I don't feel like garbo. Waited for Wes and Laney for the descent. Slowly got down to a waiting Holt. Laney seemed to be really struggling. Took the Tahoe back to the school. Live to run again. Not a great morning for me but glad I could help Laney and Wes. 6.46 miles
PM- Bloomington with Marieta as she biked. I'll make up for lost miles. 3.23 miles

| | AM- Better start to the morning. Got out (slowly) and got some mileage. Then Marieta joined me for a couple of minutes. 4.88 miles
AM2- Half and half. Nothing special. The sun felt especially hot. I hope my legs come back soon. Weights after kids club. 5.11 miles
PM- Another burner but I got my legs back. Cleared off a dead king snake from the path in the hopes that the snake gods will be kind to me. Wanted to run a sub 6:40 mile just so I remember what that pace is like. Ran a 6:27. Overall ran a 7:50 pace for the entire run, decent for the sucky heat.

AM- 4X2 (1st half @Tempo, 2nd half @Thres), 4X2 @CV, 4X2 (1st half @Tempo, 2nd half @Thres)
I decided to stay with the same group for the whole run. The crew was Brooklyn, Adri, Brecken, Elle, Emmalee, Ben, Ian, Liam, Wes, AJ, and Gianno. It was a great workout and we all stayed strong. I trailed the girls mainly. Then I ran an additional temp and thres 2 minutes with Brianna. Coach Williams joined us as well. Gozer showed up for the early minutes and we caught up on PV over the last 2 years. Added 2.5 miles on my own after cooling with Coleman and Gary. 10.10 miles
PM- Dixie Center and up past Ava with Marieta. Saw 3 bucks, each bigger than the previous. Felt poopy but glad to be running with M. 4.53 miles

PV Pioneer Day 2 Miler (2 Miles) 00:11:58, Place overall: 16, Place in age division: 2 | | AM- Warm up with Holt setting up the course. Then warm up with girls. Initially I wanted to run with the girls then Luke was like "my goal is to beat you." So I picked up the pace and dropped Luke about a mile into it. I didn't feel great. Tried to track down Coleman. Brooklyn almost caught me. Team did really well overall. Cooled with kids then added on my own. 10.04 miles

| | AM- A mile on my own then Sullivan with the team. Headed towards the Skim Board park with the freshman boys. Flipped after 12:30 and headed back the way we came. Ran 2 7 minute tempos. Gavin kept up with me and the rest of the boys trailed a little bit. Got the boys back to the park then continued on. It was so humid and I was soaked so I had to wash off in some rain creek water. Then hit a 10 minute tempo at 7-7:30 min pace. Then finally found the top girls and finished out my minutes. 10.21 miles
PM- Started out with Marieta on the main road by our camp site, she didn’t last long. So I went to clarify which route is best to sneak into Bryce Canyon. Last year I got confused on 2 different routes. I ran up one and checked on some deer on a ridge. Then I ran up the other route, realizing it’s the better path. 6.5 miles

AM- Ran up the better path into Bryce. It’s a nice trail until you have to climb over so many fallen trees and brush to get to the main road in Bryce. Ran past Whiteman trailhead and saw a big rack. I thought it was an elk at first because of the pure girth of the antlers. Quickly realized it was 2 bucks. I tried to sneak up on them but scared them away. Ran back the way I came. 9.27 miles
PM- Just took the main road out looking for Marieta. She was out on an atv ride. The main road made for a little faster running. Saw one live snake and one dead snake. Beautiful run. 7.14 miles

| | AM- Took Long Hollow straight up. Fastest way into Bryce! 2.4 miles to get in. Saw my 2 boys from yesterday. I told them I’d come back and meet them at the same spot as yesterday. Ran 2.5+ miles up the Bryce road and saw a tame doe and a little more shy spike. I love the scenery around Bryce. Then I found my boys bedded down so I followed them down a mountain for a little bit then they ditched me. 10.69 miles
PM- Drove the atv about a mile from camp. It had been raining for a couple hours. I back tracked from where I parked the atv and took the right fork on Long Hollow. I enjoyed the rain. The lightning never came that close. 6.02 miles

| | Woke up even earlier today, got out around 5:45. There was a little sunlight peaking over the mountain so I didn’t have to use my head light. I did the slow climb up the mountain to get to the Bryce road. Then I restarted my watch. Did a warm up mile then ran 3 miles at an accelerated pace. I know the times aren’t impressive but there was more climbing than I would’ve guessed. Miles recovery then 2 more tempo. Then 2 more sets of 2 with a mile recover in between. Got 15 on the Bryce road then back down the mountain and to camp. No bucks today. 103 miles for the week! New PR!
