Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is "more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. And make sure to share it with your friends.

Quality day at the peak.  To start, I was up past 1 doing homework, then had to get up early finish the homework but I still didn't finish.  Went to school took a chapter quiz in AP US, then in AP psychology took an FRQ, Ch. 16 vocab test, Ch. 16 unit test, a miscellaneous vocab test from throughout the term, and talked about blood doping and Lance Armstrong.  Then went into chemistry and did the usual of not pay attention. Then off to Spanish and Señorita was not happy so that was awful.  Then a wonderful run of 5 mile loop, with strides after.  We also did basketball before and after our run.

Shout out to coach for playing a prank on us telling us that we didn't make it into arcadia.

Didn't feel all that great today going to the meet but right once the mile started I got an adrenaline rush.  Got boxed in the first 2 laps and finally made it out with just under 700 to go.  Then I just started going for it.  Ran a 4:20 so I was happy cuz I qualified.

Did the 800 in the medley, my coach told me to go 2:10.  Was going right around 2:10 pace for the first lap, then second lap I saw that I could take the guys infront of me so I decided to go for it and get the W in the slow heat of the medley.  Ran a 2:04.

Quality day overall.

Also shout out to the PG team, especially Mia and Nicole who provided josh and I with some delicious donuts.

Decent workout today.  did 600 400 600 400 600 400 600 400, but my nose started bleeding and it got bad so last 400 I didn't do.  Iced afterwords which was good.

Tough workout. Did a 2 mile warmup then 8x400 faster each time.  Went 68 68, 66, 65, 63, 63 62, then 68. haha.  Kind of died, on the second to last one everyone did it, cuz the other guys besides me justin and jamison did 1200, 800, 600, and 400.  They pushed the pace like crazy at the beginning, we came through high 28's.  Then cooled down.  Iced also.

Kind of disappointing. Got to the race ran but didn't run smart. Went out and ran a 61 first lap. Not to smart. Then went 67. Then next was 66 then kicked it in at a 62. Finished in a 4:17 is what my dad had me at. But found out later the website had me 4:18.1 So PR but could have done better.

Shout out to Lehi for getting top 5

Really great day! Went and checked out Hollywood and stuff then headed to the race. Got there. Found so people that I knew from great oaks and talked to them, then went and watched some invitational races. Then warmed up and got ready. Went to the track and bang! We get started, I'm in last place cuz I slip at the start cuz I didn't have spikes in. Tried to move up many times either on the inside but it wasn't moving or on the outside of lane 3 but that wasn't working cuz people kept shoving me. Came through near the back just holding on at the mile with a 4:39. Then the leader started going so I followed and was able to move up near them and get around the crowd. Then I stuck til 2 laps left. Then with 2 laps to go I went for it. Took the lead, jamison stuck next to me, and we worked together to pull away, jamison faded a bit but I was going, went til final hundred and kicked but a guy outkicked me cuz my legs tightened up really bad. But I was happy with the 22 second PR.

Shoutout to all the people who raced at arcadia this weekend

Good run on bonneville for a pre race shakeout.  5 easy miles.  Feels weird racing 3/4 days and not running on one of them.

Went and helped at the junior high kids track meet.  Did the timing and then the announcing, I had hilarious things to say but molen made me keep it at least semi official.  Also on this note, shout out to connor baller because a girl at our school, we were talking about announcing and she started talking about the Lehi, Lone Peak, AF tri meet and how funny the announcer is.

Finally race time.  Got to the line, Watched the girls heat and then did a quick 5 meter stride.  Then the timer started us, got out well, in 1st place, went to second by 10 meters in but then 3rd by around 15 meters in.  Saw craik and Russell trying to pull away but held near them.  Passed 50 meters around 22 seconds then was going for the kick in but my hand was dying and my arms gave out twice.  So slowed a lot then finally kicked it in passing russell.  Finished with a 62, 2nd from our school all-time, as well as 45th in the US all-time, and 9th US this season.  Craik smashed the high school world record and went a 48,  which is olympic qualifying time.  So in conclusion, Craik has great potential if he sticks to his training.  BTW he was only 6 seconds off the World Record!

Tough day.  Not able to get much sleep because of homework cuz all my teacher's are cramming for the AP tests and giving crazy hw.  2.38 mile warmup then 2x1200 2x800 and 2x400.  Wasn't ready for it, my legs were still tired from arcadia and i think from my race yesterday, the crab walk, made my back really tight which was causing me breathing problems.  Hit 3:29 first 1200, then 3:35.  Then 800's I knew I was dead and hit 2:36 then 2:32, lol,  I know slow but whatever, I was trying so hard.  then the 400's I hit 72, then the last one felt good the last 100 and kicked it in to a 67.  Then 2 mile cool down, up to icing at the canyon, then  went straight to reffing.  Got 2.6 for the total.  rough day.

Decided it was time for my new shoes cuz my knee was hurting in the other ones.  Did alpine loop with the DM crew, as well as most of the team.  'Twas a good time.  also iced after and played 7 on the line.  Then had cereal at my house with connor tyler jared josh seth and steven.

Cold run today.  Premeet easy run, plus some strides.  Dom's knee hit my thigh hard in basketball so it hurt a lot on the run and I'm icing it rn.  And I have to ref so not the ideal pre meet day.

Got 3.9 miles from reffing today.

Eh meet.  Did the mile and did not feel good, my breathing was weird, my left hamstring tightened up on the last 400 and my right thigh was killing from where dom kneed me.  I guess it was a good warm-up cuz it loosened me up for the 800 in the medley.  warmed up 2 miles, plus did some strides, then got ready to get the baton from dom.  The sprinters did ok, they could have done much better though, Ty thinks that they could have dropped at least 3 seconds with the 200's.  I got the baton took off, came through 200 in 28, then went around with casey right on my tail and came through in 57.  The tried to follow casey but my leg cramped up so I backed off. That 200 was way slow, a 35.  But then was able to kick it back at the end and finish with a 28.  2:00.  My coach and dad had me at a low 2:00 so I was happy. Also we qualified for state with 3:37.

Shout out to Watson cuz I finally met her. She's a pretty cool person for the like 30 seconds that I met her for. And shoutout to casey for doing a 1:52 for his 800 split.

Was planning on going ten but when I went out, I got like 2 miles and felt awful.  So I decided to loop around and head towards Lone Peak, and then went around there and ran back to my house to get 6.  Also we have prom today and did rock climbing for the day date, which was a party, and my arms are way sore so that is counting for my strength training today.  Also was disappointed cuz I slept through my alarm and missed morning practice.

Had scheduling so ran later with Steven.  We did middle spring, the first 3 miles were death, but after that it felt really easy.  We got up to 7.15 then we stretched and steven drove home and I was gonna go home but when I passed by the high school, I decided to go do a few speed things.  Did 4x100 at 14 seconds a piece, then 2x200, at 29 seconds a piece, hit them perfect except last 200 went 28. Arms were kind of tired but twas fun throwing in some actual speed.  Then cooled  down just over a mile.

Would have been a great workout except my nose was bleeding after the first 400, so the times weren't good because of that.  But if my nose didn't bleed I think I could have hit the paces.  Ice bath by myself then off to reffing soccer.

Unshoutout to some coach who doesn't know what offsides is and was raging, I should have kicked him out especially when he walked on the field.

Really happy with how today went.  We did a shorter faster workout, which is what I like, 8x400.  Went 65, 64, 64, 63, 64, 64, 63, 62.  My breathing was a bit off but with the 90 seconds recovery each time it gave me just enough time to get it back to normal.  Also was insanely hot so shout out to the custodians who were testing out the sprinklers so we ran through them.  Also shout out to Galen who had a great workout after being sick for a long time. Ice after, Also have crazy hw, and have to get up and take a test at 5:15, so will be happy with 4 hours of sleep tonight.

Well, was gonna go 4 plus strides but it kept lengthening out til we went out 2.7, I walked some just for fun lol.  Then ran back.  Did strides and the last one we did an officiating tactical race with Caleb the official.  Jog til Caleb says go then kick it in.  Good time.  Also kind of wrecked from 3 and a half hours of sleep last night. Not too great but I did pass all my tests.

Good day. Yesterday went up the canyon with friends, including coach's daughter and she was supposed to be home at 9:30 but we didn't have service and we came down at 11:00 and her dad had called the cops so last night cops crashed out party, lol.  Woke up at 6:35 got to the race, watched a bunch of races.  Then it started raining, and was windy.  Waited forever, then finally warmed up on the indoor track, then got ready.

Got to the start line, started out awful, but took advantage by going straight to the inside lane.  Then moved up from there, lol, was in the very back and came through in mid 63 first lap.  Then got up to Will Handley and stuck with him til 200 left, then started making a move on him, but my legs were too cold and tight so I fell back as he kept going with the move I tried to make.  Then Colter passed me, but I passed Dallin at the very end.  Got 4th, 4:20.  So not disappointed.

Short cool down, then rested for like just under an hour.  Then warmed up for the 2 mile, super sluggish warm up, was just gonna kind of go run the 2 mile but not really.  Got to the start line and got off.  Just stuck behind Jamison and Galen  who stuck behind the rest of the pack.  Then the pack stretched out a bit at 1200 in, so I passed up to 5th, and whenever someone was dropping off from the leader I would pass them.  Then just followed Joe Benson, and Talon Hull til 300 left.  Then Joe made a move, I matched and surged past him.  200 left I charged.  Then 100 left I was going but Joe caught me and we were side by side for the last hundred. Made a quarter of a second mistake of "feeling tired" and acting on it and slowed for a tiny bit.  Joe got me by .07 seconds, costing me the win, the watch, and the shirt.  Bummer, but oh well.  Got a PR when I wasn't really ready  to.  And closed in a 60.4 according to Mr. Molen.

Super Shout out time to multiple people: Mr. Molen, for letting us play basketball when we got back, Craik and Valerie, for giving us Cafe Rio for Valerie's homecoming.  Shout out to Brooks for the sick sunglasses. Shout out to Watson cuz she killed her 2 mile and cuz I met her for a second time.  And Shout out to the stellar Kelly for beating my bro at ping pong. And shout out to the fellow bloggers who I saw racing!

Good run.  Did a lot of basketball before which was a fiesta.  Then did Bonneville which was a river so we were soaked.  It was a good time.  Also we completely roasted Craik multiple times so yeah.

Also reffed a soccer game yesterday, Lehi provisional vs. AF provisional.  Lehi got 3 yellow cards and 1 red card.  So I'm wondering when Connor, Collin, Watson, Gan, Sami, and the rest of the Lehi squad are gonna pull off some of these ugly stunts.  If anyone catches word let me know so I can give them a card.

Tough day,  lol forgot we had a workout so went home and ate some cookies.  Got back did a warmup and we did 12x400.  Hit 67, 67, 66, 67, 65, then went to the bathroom so I missed this next one.  Then 64, 65, 64, 64, 68, 63.  Haha, my stomach was destroyed on the last two but I had a killer last 100 which I passed 3 people on the last interval which coach said we could pick it up a bit.  Also used my Pegasus cuz my shins were starting to hurt so I was worried that it might be the shoes.

Shout out to the birthday boy Connor Baller!!!

Also, going for Asa's legendary status, I'll let you know when I accomplish it.

Good run today.  Went running with Team Pre- the Lehi squad.  Although the roads weren't the most exciting the team atmosphere was most excellent.  Went out 4.33 then came back and did a lap on the track.  It was a good run.  Also have to go ref later tonight so that'll be fun, not really but ok.

So shout out to Lehi for letting me run with them today.

I don't even know what to think of today.  My legs felt tired and my stomach was not cooperating.  Got there and literally within 30 seconds of me stepping off the bus, a bird/pato, pooped on my shoulder.  Then got on a short warm up, got in the mile and raced.  Patrick took it out and led the whole race, I was in second the whole race, just sticking on his shoulder.  Then with 400 to go he took off, I held on for 100 but then he left, putting 4 seconds on me in the last 300 meters. Got 4:21.  Then cool down.  Waited a while, then warmed up for the 800.  Way too fast and too long for me.  It was me and Jamison and he was going like 6:28 pace for the mile and a half, which is not how I like warming up.  Got into the race and came through in a 61 first lap, and went slower the second, and ran a 65.  so 2:06, not too good.  Just didn't feel well.  Cool down with lehi, timp, af, and jiree and jiraa.  Then just chilled.
