Today for Cross Country practice we met at liberty park for a little speed workout. We started with a lap warm up then ran to the starting line for the first 800. But then we had to do 6 strides first. Then we started the 800's. On the first one I started out a bit too fast and then I started to slow down and my time was 2:56. My goal was just to stay under a 6 minute mile. Then we jogged around the park to the next one. My second 800 time was 2:55 which is under a five minute mile which made me feel good and I started out slower so I didn't die so I could kick it in at the finish line. Then we finished out the lap to get to 4.5 then we did another .5 to finish out the day at five. My legs felt great throughout the day, I was just a bit sore throughout everything. It wasn't a hard workout it was nice to wake up my legs again and do some speed. I need the speed and this is where I am going to get it. Then while we were at the park I got to do all of my core as a team. We did the crunches, push ups, leg lifts, and we also squeezed in some arm swings...... Why not.... I was only going to do 40 miles this week but since I would only have 2.5 to do today Bill had me go to 45 because my legs are sort of used to the high mileage they could handle jumping up 10 miles this week. Only 2.5 miles to go now. Here is my garmin Link: http://connect.garmin.com/player/96097119

| | Today since it is Saturday we don't have cross country practice. So since I only had to do 2.5 miles today I decided to take my garmin out and measure the loop that I have been thinking is 2.5 miles. I was pretty close for just guessing, it was 2 exactly to my house which I thought was really weird. So when I got back to my house I had to do a half mile more so I stopped and changed the song that I was listening to on my Ipod because it was a horrible song and I put on my favorite Lady Gaga song, The Edge of Glory. My goal was to finish the last half mile before the song ended which I did. But during the run it felt like I was going really fast but in fact I wasn't, I wasn't going that fast because I went during the heat of the day, not a good idea. When I was done with the run I did my crunches, bicycle crunches instead of leg lifts today, push ups, calf raises, and then the quad strengthening machine. My run was good because it was in the heat of the day and I need to get back into running in that again and I was trying to stay on my toes the entire time. I almost did it. I had to stop running on my toes for one block then I got back up on my toes again and that really pushed the speed I thought. | | Today since we had no cross country practice and I have a race tomorrow, I decided to go for a little shake out run. I went from my house over and down to Sugarhouse park. I went running really late in the morning so it was really really hot. When I got down to the park I did a lap and came back the same way and it is exactly 3 miles. My blisters didn't hurt at all even though I am wearing the shoes that I think gave me them. I was going really slow because the heat was just draining my energy every step that I took. When I got home I did my crunches, push ups, bicycle crunches, and side to sides. Then I am going to take an ice bath later tonight. Freedom 5K (3.1 Miles) 00:21:05, Place overall: 8, Place in age division: 1 | |
Today was the Freedom 5K and Half Marathon. I ran the 5K. I started the race with a warm up of one mile trying to stay as flat as possible but in the avenues that is quite impossible. After the warm up I stretched and did drills. Then some Half marathoners ran by and when there was a window of few runners they lined us up. I was put in front because I would be towards the front of the race and I pushed people out of my way to get there:) I was standing next to a kid from Taylorsville high school and he placed in region and state supposedly this year. Good job dude. So the gun went off and I had a fairly good start, I was staying up with the Taylorsville kid, but then this girl passed me and mentally I started to give up but then I noticed I was in 3rd place overall and I wanted a trophy so I was looking at my garmin and it was showing that I was going pretty consistent, all sub seven minute miles. Then another person passed me then another then another and pretty soon I was in fifth overall. I gave up by this time. There was this group of three runners behind me and they passed me but then I passed them again so I thought the finish was right around the corner, then it wasn't, an uphill was here. So I tried to stay consistent and just get passed them. Then I could see the capitol building so I knew the finish was near. I just kept picking up the pace. I finished the race eighth overall in the males division and eleventh overall including girls. It felt pretty good all throughout the race but when we were about at mile two my ankle started to ache, not like a sharp pain but it was definitely there. Then when I finished I went and got my medal and did a mile cool down. When I got home I did my crunches, push ups, bicycle crunches, side to sides, calf raises, and quad machine stuff. Then I did two more miles on the elliptical to strengthen a bit more. Here is my URL to my Garmin Connect: Warm UP- http://connect.garmin.com/activity/96777904 Race- http://connect.garmin.com/activity/96777914 Cooldown- http://connect.garmin.com/activity/96777924 Then after I did my core I felt that I should go for another mile, so I did. Then I found a dead birds egg with the baby still in it:( and I found out that my grandma is in the hospital:(

| | Today for cross country we met at sunnyside. The advanced group had to leave the park go up to foothill over to some random street down to gaurdsman avenue and then go to shriners hospital. When we get to the drinking fountain we go up a hill on virginia street and follow the cemetery till the fire station then we turned around. It was four miles exactly to the cemetery. I was totally exhausted throughout the entire run so I stayed back with sarah. My legs were like lead with the empire state building as my toes. Then when we had to go back it was just as horrible because it was a ton of uphill going back. When we finally got back I did my core, crunches, push ups, bicycle crunches and side to sides. here is my Garmin Connect link: Part 1 http://connect.garmin.com/activity/97046980 part 2 http://connect.garmin.com/activity/97046987 PS: hopefully it works now Tomy, I think that I unlocked everything but I am not to totally positive. |

Today for Cross Country practice we met at Cottonwood Complex. The advanced group went for a three mile warm up. We left the park turned left and went from like 39th or something down to 11th over to 45th and back to the park. It was exactly three miles. But before we did that we did a lap around the baseball fields. Then we went and stretched and when we were done with those we had to do 8 strides at the starting line of the regions course. When we were done with those we lined up to do the Bessy's. The first one I went out I thought was a pretty good pace but to my surprise I was right with Bill and Natalie. So on every one of the Bessy's I was right with them. For the first one I did a 1:53 which is a 15 second PR from last year. The second one I started out the same pace and was trying to pass Natalie but then on the final stretch she out kicked me. For the second one my time was 1:53 as well. Then for the third one I started out with Bill and I don't know if he started out slower or if everyone did but I stayed with him and finally passed him and Natalie and finished ahead of them I think. My time for the third one was 1:54 so I slowed down a bit on that one. Then on the fourth and final one I was determined to beat Bill again so he started out a bit faster than we usually did to try to catch up with Dakota so I sped up and caught both of them. I eventually passed Dakota but then Bill was a bit harder. I passed them on the turn about to go down the hill. I was kicking as hard as I could afraid that Natalie was coming because I knew she had a faster kick than me, but then out of my surprise here comes Bill and he beats me by a half a second. I was so mad because I knew I had it in me to beat him but it was to close to the finish line to actually catch him. For the fourth one I did a 1:53 so throughout all four of then I was FREAKING consistent. Then we went and got water. We did the Regions course as a cooldown, I did the first half with Sam, Jesse, and another girl. GREAT JOB guys. Then the second half with Michelle. When I got home I am going to do my core and my leg weights thingies. Later tonight I need to go 2 more miles because I need 10 for the day but at the moment it is just to hot for me to go running and I don't feel like killing myself. TODAY!!!!!!.!!!!!!.
Here is MY Garmin Connect URL for today: On the URL I accidentally turned off my Garmin for about .7 of a mile on the Cooldown. BTW http://connect.garmin.com/player/97262744 When we went to my grandmas I took my Garmin and went out 1.25 miles and came back the same way. During this my knee was really killing me like someone was putting a knife or something to the bone all throughout the run. I was sluggish and starving and everyone was BBQing so that didn't help. Hopefully tomorrow is better and not painful. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/97375582

| | Today for Cross Country practice we met at the park-n-ride. Then we drove up millcreek canyon to the pipeline trail. We went 4.6ish out in the trail then came back. Coming back sucked soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. It was freaking painful and I was really dehydrated, my blisters hurt and my toes killed. Then when we got back I had to do .75 up the canyon to finish out to an even 10 miles. I was going slow today because it hurt to much to go fast so I went with Abigail, Amanda, Kevin, and some new red head....... Sorry I dont know his name, He gels his hair down with a part though, its snazzy though. Then I came home and did my core. here is my Garmin Connect: http://connect.garmin.com/player/97474035 |

| | Sorry for not putting in my blog yesterday, I went straight from Cross Country practice to the store then straight to Lagoon. But anywase for Cross Country we met at Liberty Park. We started with a lap warm up then some stretching while we waited for people to finish the lap. Then we broke into groups to do our lap of Firemen. My group was Sarah, Me, Alesandro, Sam, Blake and another kid who I don't know his name. We were starting out good but then everyone except a few people died so we had to really slow it down which wasn't good for me. I think I was put in the wrong group but oh well it was ok. Whenever it was my turn I sprinted as if I was in the faster group to atleast try to get my speed work in. Then after that we met up again and did a lap cooldown and the advanced group had to go another .25 out and back to make it an even 5 for the day. Overall it was a really easy workout and I felt really good about it. Then when we got back we did arm swings and our core. Then I went on the Catapult at lagoon...... IT was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! | | Today I was originally going to do the Hobbler 5K while everyone else did the Half Marathon, But I didn't. I woke up way too late, since I was at Lagoon yesterday till 11:30 so I didn't get to bed till about 1 so I would of gotten 2 hours of sleep. Oh well. So before I went to steiner today I did my core of crunches, bicycle crunches, and the other stuff that I don't know the name of. Then since it was raining and the original plan was going to the avenues and do five there but since the weather was to severe today I decided to not try to go against the weather and just hit up the treadmill. I started on like a 6.8 if I remember correctly then I went up 15 seconds faster each half mile until I was at a 6:48 pace then I just finished the like 1.5 miles or so I had left at that. When I started I put it at a 3.0 for an incline then every half mile I went down .5 until I hit zero. Overall it was a bad day because during the run my left quad started to really hurt and it was farther in than the muscle. Hopefully it goes away soon because it felt really weird all throughout the entire run. |

Today for Cross Country we had the 7-11 run because it is 7-11. We started at Sunnyside park ran to 209 S. 1300 E., 705 E. 3rd Ave, 300 E. 100 S., 300 E. 400 S., 175 E., 800 S. 800 S. West Temple, 1300 S. 500 E. Then from that seven eleven we went to the Liberty park and waited there for the rest of the people. I ran with Abigail, Delaney, Maggie, Sarah and all of the freshmen girls. When we got to Liberty park we were supposed to do our core but I didn't, instead I ran another half mile to make it an even 8 at the park. Then we ran from the park drinking fountain up on 13th E. until some random street that I couldn't read the name of then we ran up the HUGE street on 9th south. I ran the entire way up that hill to my surprise passed East High then up and back to Sunnyside park. I had to run a bit while I was at the park to make it an even 10.5 because I knew that I am going on another run tonight. Today I felt totally great except for a few slurpies that I ate that made me feel pretty sick but my legs and arms felt great. When I got home I did my core and all of that stuff. Overall it was a pretty good day except for about the 4th and 5th slurpee and the heat. The heat totally drained my energy. Here is my Garmin Connect: http://connect.garmin.com/player/98473008 Later tonight I went for another run. My parents went and dropped me off at the avenues on I street, I started on I street ran up the HUGE hill to 11th Ave. Over to Virginia Street and down to 1st ave again. But when I got to like L street I had to go Potty really really really bad so I ran down to South Temple and went to the bathroom in some random gas station there. Then I stayed on South Temple till I street then I went up to meet my parents on 1st Ave. When I got home since my legs were a bit sore from this run I took a 15 minute ice bath. During this run my legs felt pretty good considering that this was the first time that I have actually ran this whole run non stop. But when I was done I was not out of breath, just out of energy towards my legs. This run was a little over 3.5 but I am only counting it as 3.5...... Yay for even mileage.. | | Today for Cross Country we met at Wheeler Farm. We started with a adventure run throughout the farm of 3 miles. We were supposed to do that as a group but we all separated so I stuck with Bill because I didn't know where I was going. Then we did a Fartlek workout. It was 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off of one minute intervals. I started out behind everyone else because I was trying to figure out how to put my Garmin on intervals so I was starting out slow. Then I noticed that Bill, Natalie, and Mike were just ahead of me so we were all going the same pace on the "On's" so I caught up to them on the "Off's". I stuck with them the rest of the fartlek. I was feeling great up till this point except for the stomach ache before the fartlek started. After the Fartlek we were broken up into teams to do a relay of everyone sprints 100 meters 4 times. During my third one I did something to my Achilles heal and it was really painful. I decided to do only a 2.5 mile cooldown because my heal hurt so bad. When I did my core at my house it hurt it to even do push ups. Hopefully it isn't serious because it really did hurt a ton for the rest of the relay and the entire cooldown. I did my 2.5 mile cooldown with Suzette because I ran and got my phone because it was in the rain so I broke away from the group and I didn't know where everyone went. Overall until the relay I was feeling great, I need to pick up the workouts though if I want to get on Varsity....... Hopefully I will. Today for Cross Country practice we met at the JCC trail. The advanced group did 8 miles. We went 4 miles out and back the same way. I started out slow and then I progressively kept getting faster, I think. When I was coming back I was feeling great so I could really push my pace and I started on going faster and pushing the pace. Going up the trail for about the first mile there was still flooded areas where we had to hop a river so that was fun. When I was coming back, I had about a mile to go I biffed it and I scratched my leg and fell down the mountain a bit but then I got back up and I think that I slowed down a bit until the pain went away then I picked up the pace again. Throughout the entire run I was within like 100 meters of Tomy then on the way back I don't know what happened but I lost him and never saw him again. Overall it was a very good run for me, my achilles didn't hurt at all which was nice. When I got back we did our core at the trail, I tried to do a push up but it stretched my achilles to much so I didn't do those. When I came back to my house I did the rest of my core. Here is my Garmin Connect: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/98917059 I went to steiners today after practice and I was going to run on the treadmill for 5 miles but the treadmill hurt my Achilles to much so I didn't. Instead I did the elliptical for 4 and then biked for 6 miles because those two machines didn't hurt it at all. Overall it was a nice little workout of cross training mainly because A) Tomorrow is the Harry Potter Midnight Premiere and B) I watched Mulan 2 for the first time while I was on the machines. Then I went into the weight room and did the abs, arms, and leg machines. A total of five machines. Then when I got home I took a 15 minute ice bath.

Today for Cross Country practice we met at Sugarhouse Park. We started with a 2 mile warm up around the outside of the park. Then we actually finished at 2.25 because we started in the park then worked our way out. Then we met up with everybody and ran to the 400 meter hill on the state course. We played 21 there..... I think its great how Bill teaches us how to gamble. So how we play is we run the 400 meter hill and then jog back and Bill gives you a card in the order that you finished the hills. Then on the second hill you do the same thing. On the first hill I finished 5th right behind Bill, on the second hill I finished 4th right behind Taylor. I had 21 on the third hill so the first set. I told Bill that I never loose and I didn't. So I started out fast with Emily, Tomy, and Taylor. Taylor, Tomy and I passed Emily then Taylor and I eventually passed Tomy. By this time I thought I was sprinting but somehow I just wouldn't let Taylor beat me so I totally went all out and I won. I won not only the 21 card game but also the 400 hill. I know now that on hill workouts I should be up with Tomy, Emily, and Taylor. Then since I won that we only had to do 200s now. We did 3 400s and 6 200s. On the 200s I finished 4th right behind Taylor, then 5th behind Taylor again, then 5th right behind Ethan, then 6th behind Sam, and then 4th right behind Bill, then 4th again behind Bill again because it was the last one and they were going all out and I just used whatever I had left to finish strong. Since Taylor and I won the hills today Bill is bringing us prizes tomorrow but I wont be at practice tomorrow so Bill hopefully will bring mine on Monday. During the hills I was really pushing it because I really want to be on Varsity so from now on I am pushing it hard. Then for a cooldown we ran to the cars then I did another lap on the road inside but I noticed I was at like7.65 so I just finished out the day at 8 running around the grass. Overall today was a good day because I was tired but I know that I pushed hard. Then when I came home I took a 15 minute ice bath and did my core. | | Today since I couldn't go to Cross Country practice because I went to the Harry Potter midnight premiere last night, I slept in instead. I decided to go to Steiners with my sister instead. I started out planning to only do 5 miles this morning but then I was at about 2.5 miles on the treadmill listening to my ipod and I was feeling great so I went to the five mile mark. I was feeling good at this time so I decided to do another mile but then my Achilles started to hurt probably because I was on my toes prior to this point so I slowed down my pace and started to run flat footed. That made it feel better. My quads and my "pockets" were hurting throughout the entire run probably because of the hills that we did yesterday. Then when I was done I went to the weight room and did my leg weights. That made my legs really tired. Then we had to walk home:( when I got home I did my core and push ups. |

| | Today was only a day to finish out our mileage so I only had a little run. I started out by doing two miles of running while I was playing president, or what was roughly two miles. I counted out the blocks and it came to two miles about. I did those barefoot. Then I came home and I went for two more miles on my own. Easy run in total with no pain. |

| | Today I decided to go for a little avenues run. I started on E street instead of I street so I ran 8 more blocks than usual. I got up to 3rd avenue and had to go to the bathroom really bad so I turned around and went back down to the Einsteins and went potty:) Then I went back up to third ave and finished the run. My legs were really heavy and I just felt really sluggish throughout the entire run. My pace was faster today though than last time so that is good. Today for Cross Country practice we met at Sugarhouse Park. We started and did the cemetery loop up to 33rd. Up to about 33rd south I was doing a really good pace, like roughly 8:07-sub 8 minute pace. But then I just totally crashed, I just ran out of energy. I stopped to stretch to see if that would help but no luck. So Abigail passed me and was about 50 meters ahead of me when we were entering the cemetery. So I caught up to her about half way through the cemetery and ran the rest of the run with her. We were supposed to go 10 today but I just couldn't go that much at the moment. I just did not have the energy to go the full today. I was still going a sub nine minute pace which was my goal but still this run took it all out of me. I was wiped, I went faster on the 8 miler on the JCC trail than I did today. Hopefully tomorrow is better because today was probably one of the worst days to run if not the worst. It also felt a lot longer than 8 which was probably because I was going so slow. I need to get my speed back that I had last week because I was way better last week than I was today. I hated this run with a fiery passion. Im going on another run later tonight. Here is my Garmin Connect: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/100081900 Later in the day I did my core at my house. Then I went on a run. I went over to the avenues and started on E street ran up to 11th avenue over to Virginia street and down to South Temple. My goal for this run was to just run it under and 8:20 pace because I need to start running these runs a lot faster than I have been running them previously. I so succeeded that. I ran this in 8:05 pace. I felt really good all throughout the run but when I got to 6th avenue I stopped at smiths and went to the bathroom because I knew there wasn't any bathrooms past that. Throughout the entire run I just kept picking up the pace because it felt good to run at those speeds again. When I got home I iced my legs so they aren't too sore tomorrow. Today for Cross Country we met at Sunnyside Park. The advanced group was supposed to go 8 miles so I started on the advanced group run. First I had to go to the bathroom so when I got out of the bathroom everybody was gone so I started out going up to the flagpole. When I got up to about foothill my achilles started to really hurt so I still went up to the advanced group run. Then we went up to the zoo and around that I was not feeling good at all so I really slowed down. Then when I got to 13th south I think it was I had to turn down and go back. Then I went down to 1900 east and back to the park. By this time I was at about 4.5 miles so I ran the last bit in the park. I accidently turned off my garmin when I thought that I turned it on so I cut out about a half mile. Then when I came home I did my core and iced my achilles because that helped it a lot.

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/100321630 Today after practice I decided that I had not done enough miles nearly at all for today. So I went up to Steiner and did 3 miles on the treadmill going at a consistent pace of 8 minute pace. I was reading my book while on this:) It was really really really really really hard. Then after that I decided that I had not gone enough miles yet for the day and since I did not want to pay to get into Steiner again I decided to go for my own run in the heat. I just did the two mile loop that I usually do because that was all that I could handle in that heat. I kept picking up the pace because I really wanted to get home and drink something. Then later in the night I took a 20 minute ice bath. Last night in Salt Lake City!!!!! yay Here is my Garmin Connect: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/100426312 my Garmin Connect thing isn't working so just look at it on my other one....

Today since I slept in right after my alarm went off, I couldn't go to Cross Country practice. So I went to my grandmas house and ran on her treadmill because I didn't want to run outside because my parents weren't home and they need to know where I am at all times. I did the cross country teams workout on the treadmill. I started with a 2 mile warm up and then stretching. Then I did a fartlek workout of 10 minutes on/off. We were supposed to meet at Cottonwood Complex and do the regions course during this fartlek but since I am not there I did it on the treadmill. I started off then every one minute interval sped up. I got to about 2.75 miles before the interval ended so I just finished out the 3 miles. When I remembered there was a uphill I tried to make the treadmill go uphill but my calculations were not always correct. Then I did an easy 2 miles cooldown. Overall it was a very nice workout today, though I wish I didn't sleep in because I think that I would have pushed a lot more and the hills would have been a lot steeper so I might not have gone as far but I would have gotten a better hill workout. It was a good workout for a few reason, A) I watched Dinosaur Train while doing it haha:) and B) My grandma was on the bike and she was very jealous of how far I ran:) Then I came home and did my core. I am going to go on another run later today because I need four more miles. 4.4 actually.... Later today I went over to Steiner and ran on the treadmill there because I am not sure if I will be able to run tomorrow. So I did a mile warm up 2 miles of tempo pace then a mile cooldown. Then I just did a .4 mile thing at 6:18 pace to get my legs used to running at that speed again and so I could have even mileage:) |

| | Today in Colorado Springs I went for a little run to see what the neighborhood is like. But of course I forgot my Garmin in my moms purse and she is in the hotel while I am staying in my aunts house. But my aunt had already measured the trail that I was going to run on. So since I did not have my Garmin I went on a run towards time instead of distance. I went twenty minutes on one trail that looped back around to there house then I did twenty minutes on another trail that looped back to there house. The second one didn't quite make the twenty minutes so I had to run up to the park and finish it off. All I can say about this run was ELEVATION IS A KILLER! |

Today since I am going to Six Flags I didn't want to go running to far because I didn't want to be totally wiped before Six Flags. So I decided to go for a short run. I just went to the usual two loops around the random trails but instead of doing the full four miles I only did three. I tried to go faster on this run than I was usually doing but I did do it. It made me feel good because on the uphills I was really trying to push and that was nice,,,,, even though I couldn't breathe very well..... Six Flags here I come!!!!!! | | This morning since it is my last day in Colorado I decided to keep the run short but longer than yesterdays. But as soon as I left the house I saw hot air balloons just shooting off just as yesterday. Which was really cool because I got to watch them the entire run. I was feeling really sluggish throughout the entire run today, probably from spending all day at six flags. But since I am going on a longer run I had to do more laps around the park to make it an even but I accidently did an extra lap so I didn't have to weave in and out of streets to finish out the last little bit. As soon I got to the end of the street I couldn't breathe so I had to go at a slower pace. This elevation difference is absolutely killing me! | | This morning I was feeling a bit better but I did not have nearly the energy to go to practice, I decided to take one more day off. | Add Comment |
| | This morning I was going to go to practice but I woke up like 12 times in the night. When I finally went to sleep for a while, I woke up again and my throat was nearly closed over meaning I could barely breathe out of it. I went to the doctor and they said I had strep throat so I couldn't go to practice. They said as soon as my sore throat goes away I can start running again. | Add Comment |
