Today for Cross Country we met at Wheeler Farm. We started with a adventure run throughout the farm of 3 miles. We were supposed to do that as a group but we all separated so I stuck with Bill because I didn't know where I was going. Then we did a Fartlek workout. It was 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off of one minute intervals. I started out behind everyone else because I was trying to figure out how to put my Garmin on intervals so I was starting out slow. Then I noticed that Bill, Natalie, and Mike were just ahead of me so we were all going the same pace on the "On's" so I caught up to them on the "Off's". I stuck with them the rest of the fartlek. I was feeling great up till this point except for the stomach ache before the fartlek started. After the Fartlek we were broken up into teams to do a relay of everyone sprints 100 meters 4 times. During my third one I did something to my Achilles heal and it was really painful. I decided to do only a 2.5 mile cooldown because my heal hurt so bad. When I did my core at my house it hurt it to even do push ups. Hopefully it isn't serious because it really did hurt a ton for the rest of the relay and the entire cooldown. I did my 2.5 mile cooldown with Suzette because I ran and got my phone because it was in the rain so I broke away from the group and I didn't know where everyone went. Overall until the relay I was feeling great, I need to pick up the workouts though if I want to get on Varsity....... Hopefully I will.

Here is my Garmin Connect:

Patrick, if you want varsity, you have to work for it. When you slack off or cut out of a workout, you not only hurt yourself, but you also hurt the team because you ARE good enough to push other guys. You can't just skate by another year of XC. I know you regard me as being really good, but truth is I am still the same kid that you could easily beat freshmen year of track. I just learned that you have to push yourself if you want to get anywhere. You can't just let all these newbies come in and steal the glory. Work hard this year, and I guarantee that the coach will be talking about you when he gives his speech at the xc banquet about the most improved person this year. It feels good when you know the coach recognizes you and your accomplishments. You owe it to yourself and you owe it to the team. YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH!

Agreed. Patrick you will have a great season if you push yourself hard. Like Bill said today, stick with the varsity group. You can and it is the way to make you faster. You can do it!
