Today was the Freedom 5K and Half Marathon. I ran the 5K. I started the race with a warm up of one mile trying to stay as flat as possible but in the avenues that is quite impossible. After the warm up I stretched and did drills. Then some Half marathoners ran by and when there was a window of few runners they lined us up. I was put in front because I would be towards the front of the race  and I pushed people out of my way to get there:) I was standing next to a kid from Taylorsville high school and he placed in region and state supposedly this year. Good job dude. So the gun went off and I had a fairly good start, I was staying up with the Taylorsville kid, but then this girl passed me and mentally I started to give up but then I noticed I was in 3rd place overall and I wanted a trophy so I was looking at my garmin and it was showing that I was going pretty consistent, all sub seven minute miles. Then another person passed me then another then another and pretty soon I was in fifth overall. I gave up by this time. There was this group of three runners behind me and they passed me but then I passed them again so I thought the finish was right around the corner, then it wasn't, an uphill was here. So I tried to stay consistent and just get passed them. Then I could see the capitol building so I knew the finish was near. I just kept picking up the pace. I finished the race eighth overall in the males division and eleventh overall including girls. It felt pretty good all throughout the race but when we were about at mile two my ankle started to ache, not like a sharp pain but it was definitely there. Then when I finished I went and got my medal and did a mile cool down. When I got home I did my crunches, push ups, bicycle crunches, side to sides, calf raises, and quad machine stuff. Then I did two more miles on the elliptical to strengthen a bit more.

Then after I did my core I felt that I should go for another mile, so I did. Then I found a dead birds egg with the baby still in it:( and I found out that my grandma is in the hospital:(
