| | Ran the Capstone course. I wasn't planning on running that far the day before the race but I really wanted to see the course. I really like it! Obviously it's much different than what I ran last week (slower and longer) but still fun to run. 6.46 miles

Capstone Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:58:06, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | I got out hard and lead the race for the first 3 miles then my friend Zach Holt passed me. I was strong on the uphills. At around 4 miles another dude was right on my butt so I let him pass and tailed him the rest of the loop. I think he was trying to ditch me. Then some biker tried passing me but I told him I was racing so I wasn't going to pull off to the side. There were several paths he could've taken to avoid the racers. I yelled out "freakin bikers" to the runner in front of the me and he responded with something about being a biker. Then I put my earbud back in because I didn't want to hear what he had to say. I wanted to let loose and pass the guy on the downhill stretch but there wasn't much room. So I started to plan my attack for the 2nd loop. We got to the transition/finish area and home boy stopped. He was a 10k runner. He said: "I wouldn't have raced you if I knew you were doing the half." Marieta handed me a kickstart and I took a sip and charged into the 2nd loop. At this point I knew no one was going to catch me and that I was going to take 2nd to Zach. I kind of wish there were some more runners around to help me attack the hills. I was all by myself and did my best to keep competing. I walked a little on the 2 worst uphill sections. Then the last 2.5 miles I cruised! I was going up this hill and I started cramping in my inner thigh/groin area. I was really nervous I was going to suffer through that and have to walk. Luckily it only cramped when going uphill. So I shortened my stride and dug in for the last 2 miles. I had a really strong last mile! I like me some trail racin!

| | Some CV 400, 600, or 800 intervals on the track. I jumped from group to group to group. I usually don't like speed workouts but recently I've enjoyed them. Highlight was running with Bryan and Bentley and Katie and Kate. 7 miles

SGR Flex Series 5K (3.1 Miles) 00:19:47 | | Ran 6 with the girls doing a hill Cicuit. I tried pushing Alli on the downhill. At 10 I went and ran a SGR 5k for my Dad. He signed up then ended up going out of town. He wanted to break 20:20 for his time. I ran a 19:47. I felt pretty good but I could've improved my 2nd mile. I added some extra mileage after the race. 13.28 miles

| | More work on the track. I worked with different groups. Afterwards played some football on the field. I was a stellar QB and WR. I had the most fun playing safety on the defensive side. I had a pick 6 to win the game. Minkah Fitzpatrick would be proud. Added a mile after everyone left. 7.10 miles

| | Tested out a new pair of Bondis. They were really comfortable! Ran 4 1000s with Brinley on the track. 4:01, 4:07, 4:07, 4:05. She ran really consistent. I was glad I could help out. Dave ran with her on her 5th 1000. Then I ran the last 400 of Bentley's 800. Same deal with Pyper after that. Cold run today. 6.87 miles

I did some reflecting tonight while stuck in Vegas. This was my best running year. I was really consistent and learned a lot about myself. Moving forward, I have a good sense of what I need to do to be a better runner.
Some stats for the year.
Miles: 2,759.81 (previous best: 1,793.61 in 2015)
Month average: 229.98 miles
Week average: 57.5 miles
Days run: 304/365
Best Month: 305.53 miles (July)
Best Week: 87.15 (June 29th- July 4th)
60+ mile weeks: 24
70+ mile weeks: 8
80+ mile weeks: 2
I was pretty clutch on my Saturday runs and want to continue that in 2021.
Runs over 10 miles: 38
Runs over 12 miles: 29
Runs over 15 miles: 15
Runs over 18 miles: 5
(26.62, 20.58, 20.19, 18.15, 18.13)
*This information is mainly just for me to look at in the future and compare vs 2021. Travis is the only person who will probably see it.
