Short run on the bonneville shoreline trail, because we started a little late. I didn't want to be late for Coach meldrum's strenght training, so I kicked my butt the last almost 2.5 miles, and went sub-6 that whole time. We know for sure now that coach meldrum held the world record in the 3000 meter steeplechase for a time, which is super awesome. Afterwards galen, jamison, justin, trevor, josh erikson, and me ran to mountain ridge, and then to take an ice bath in the river.

Did the workout by myself. 4x600m hills. Had a big headwind on the way up. Got 2:26, 2:25, 2:25, 2:24. Okay times, and it was hard to push myself with no one else there. I did a pretty long cooldown, and it felt good. Temperature was 53 degrees during my run! Felt amazing

Did 5 miles with the soccer team, then did 4 more through the art dye frisbee golf course and back. Did another core workout, and they aren't getting any easier. I feel like friday coach muldrem is gonna kick our butts during the core workout. We get chocolate milk every day now after practice!

I had a pretty rough day at school today, so I was planning on hitting the workout today, 3x5 minute pickups, pretty hard. But I couldn't do much of anything today. I was broke mentally the whole time, and wasn't able to push it. I know that it will take time to get used to the high mileage, because the last time I ran over 48 miles in a week was in July when I was at lake powell.  I feel like these miles didn't do anything for me.

Good modest run, a some extra miles by myself, strenght training, and then an ice bath, which was nice and refreshing. I was feeling better today, so i'll make sure to hit it hard tomorrow.

Super awesome run. I felt unusually good the whole time. Went on the Bonneville Shoreling Trail to Battle Creek and back. Averaged a 6:39, which I am super happy with. I think the reason I felt so good was going easier yesterday and thursday, and I think the ice bath yesterday helped too.

Did the mountain run from my house, and did a little extra too. Saw jamison pulling into his driveway about 20 seconds into my run, so talked with him a bit. Averaged a 7:13. My legs felt really weird the last few miles, so I rolled them out when I got home, which felt really good.

pretty useless run. About 2 minutes into the first pickup, my knee started to hurt EXACTLY how it did when I had runner's knee. I got freaked out right then and turned around and did the rest at an easy pace. Rolled out my legs when I got home. Probably nothing serious, but i'm not taking any chances. I'm done with being injured.

Definely a candidate for the best run of all time. If falls into the #2 slot behind my slot canyon run at lake powell. I was originally just going to go on the BST, but I wanted to do something different for a change. So I went up. And up. And up. Once I was at the top of the foothills I found a deer trail. FUNNEST TRAIL OF ALL TIME. It's flat, you have an amazing view of the valley from it, and you go by 2 small caves. Thr trail is now called Spencer's Trial. Pretty creative, huh? Oh, and my knees were fine.

I heard a pretty cool quote today:

"A goal without a plan is a wish".

3x3 minute pickups today. Did a core workout afterwards then strides. Felt pretty sick today, but will race tomorrow not matter how sick I feel. I'm SOOOO excited to race. I'm not putting my hopes up for a good race, because it's been a while. But even if I have a bad race, it would still have been fun, because racing is my favorite part of running and i've missed out on it for a while.

First of all, It was awesome just to get to race again. It was so much fun. We did a good 15 minute warmup, but it was a little early for my heat. I was in the 7th heat, most of the guys were around 5:12. I got a great start and settled into 3rd on the first curve. From this point on until the start of the last lap, I tried to keep the same pace. I zoned out, which is a really bad habit I need to break during races. Russell passed me with a lap to go, and I couldn't let him beat me. I started my all out sprint about 2/3 of the way through the final curve. Once i hit the straightaway, the clock was 4:46! I though I could break 5 but I forgot that the straighaways were 140 m insteadof 100. Well, I did close in 15 seconds for 140 meters, so my final sprint was good. I beat russell by 4 seconds, I think. I was a little mad at myself because if I had paced it right, I could have broken 5 pretty solidly. My original goal was to beat Craik, who got 4:58 in the heat in front of me. Good 15 minute cooldown with a few guys from Westlake. We now have 7 people already in the sub-5 club already, with justin oficially doing it today and craik getting it. Josh hit 5 flat, so he'll get it next time. We could end up having 12 or so in the club, which is pretty cool.

Overall, I'm happy with this race. I haven't raced since September, and this was a good race to see where i'm at. I raced in XC mode, which is a lot different than track. With only having done 5 workouts this year, i'm happy with the time. I still have much room for improvement. Starting next week I can go to practice on A-days, so that will help. Next mile race for me will be the team time trails, and I want to break 5 there. I will have craik and josh right in front of me, so I should be able to pace off them to break 5. Excited for an awesome track season coming up!

Pretty rough day at practice. Part of my shoes was rubbing into my heel the whole time. It was only annoying during the warmup, but it hurt pretty badly the rest of the time. Anyway, the workout was 6x600m hills with a continuos recovery. Pretty brutal, and I didn't do very well. Did a core workout afterwards and courtney had us do a bunch of sprints, which I thought it was  too early in the season to be doing those, but whatever. We were being told to do them by a freaking world record holder, so i think she knows what she's doing. My knee hurt a little afterwards.

Definetily a run to remember. I went up into the foothills till i got to spencer's trail(my trail), did that till it deadended on a cliff, turned around and then decided to keep going up. and up. and up. I came to this one point right before a really steep part of the trail, and stopped to take a breather. Then, I felt that something(not someone), very powerful was watching me. A voice in my head(i'll try not to get religious but i am 110% sure it was the Holy Ghost), yelled, "RUN"! So I booked it down the trail for a few minutes, then looked up the mountain. I saw 3 COUGARS up close to where I was. After that I got freaked out so i just kept going down. Ran into Josh Barton a priest in my ward, at a point almost at the bottom. I feel like it I hadn't listened to the voice in my head i wouldn't have come down the mountain.

Did the mountain run. The past 2 days have taken more out of me than I thought. my legs were dead, and I couldn't push my pace much. But i'm okay with that, because i want to be fresh for tomorrow, the first interval workout of the track season! I couldn't go to strenght training because i had an orthodontist appointment at the same time.

I ran from my house to the school, which was 1.3 miles, and a 2 mile warmup after that. We did 4x1000 at mile pace, so I should have been hitting 3:07's, but i felt sick today. I was around 3:25-3:30 on all of them, so kind of a dissapointment. We had an active recovery, which ryan said we will do on every workout from now on. Good long cooldown afterwards. My legs aren't in track shape yet. I have an ACT prep workshop tomorrow from 10-4:30, which i am not excited for at all. I have stuff to do also in the morning, so I can't go to practice either :(

Ran hogs early in the morning(6:30), becuase i couldn't go to practice at the set time. It was pretty chilly out, and I didn't geel the greatest, but it was still super fun.

Did 6.5 miles for practice. Pretty hilly, so it was a slow pace. There were 7 of us together at the beginning of the run, but we eventually split up into 3 groups and I ran with galen the last few miles.

Did 5 later at about 8:30. A little chilly out, but i felt good so it was fun. Averaged a 6:34

6x600m hills with active recovery. Hill workouts stink by yourself. I hit 2:24, 2:24, 2:25, 2:21, 2:20, 2:14. So good times for me, for running by myself.

Fun run up the canyon with jamison, justin, galen and trevor. Everyone else played soccer. The wind was super bad, and we had a good session of strength training afterwards.

I've been thinking about the difference between Lone Peak's and Pleasant Grove's coaching programs(not the actual coaches, but the different workouts and things we do). I feel like Lone Peak's program has been better for me, even though i've been injured half the time i've been here(no offense to PG). I really miss the buddy 400's at Pleasant Grove, those are my favorite workout to this day. I still miss my friends from Pleasant Grove a lot, and I think about them daily. Lone Peak had a very rocky start with both school and running, but it's gotten tons better. I can't believe i'm saying this, but I would rather be at Lone Peak that Pleasant Grove now. PG was awesome at the time I went there, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. But Lone Peak has become just as much fun. I've been looking back all this time since i've moved, 3/4 of a year ago today. I had my fun times there, but it's time to look forward.   (And all of this isn't about running, but other things too).

45 minute threshold run. Some of the miles weren't fast enough to call them fast miles. I didn't do well. Warmup and cooldown too.

For some reason my right foot hurt pretty badly. It started just being my arch, but my whole foot hurt towards the end. I walked the last mile or so becuase it hurt too much to run.

I ran through these pretty cool trails in Ephraim. Good pace for the distance, a 7:18, and it was also pretty hilly. I had a goal to run 200 miles this month, and I got it! I didn't think I would get it because of my foot yesterday, but it was fine. It started to hurt around mile 10, and with about a mile left it hurt pretty bad. Once I got home(home home, not the place i was staying at), I iced it. Hopefully it's nothing serious, i'm glad O have tomorrow off.
