Had practice at 1 in the morning just to say we did it. Ran 3.4 slow miles. Quite cold out.

Ran to Pleasant Grove high school and back. It's weird how close lone peak, american fork and pleasant grove's high schools are.

My Physical(Running) goals for this year:

  • Run over 2000 miles in the year
  • 4:45 mile, 10:30 2 mile, 16:15 3 mile
  • Stay away from injury
  • Make varsity at least 2nd half of XC season, because I won't be able to run for most of July(more details on that later)
  • at least 50 pushups every day

2014 has had it's ups and downs for running, but mostly downs. I'm not planning on changing schools this year, and I think that will help, haha. I'm ready to rock 2015's world!

Good luck in 2015. I just completed a 2,000 mi year in 2014 and haven't done any races in a while, but I'd say that you'll probably destroy those goal times if you do it (and stay healthy obv).

was sick yesterday, and felt a little better today.. Hopefully i'm back to 100% by monday. Took a big step back this week in mileage. It's gonna take me a while more now to get up to the miles I want to be doing each week, which is around 50.

woke up with a very abnormal feeling just below my right hip, but it didn't hurt. However, the more I walked, the more it hurt. Rolled my legs out when I got home from school and also stretched it out. Probably won't go for a run tomorrow, just to be extra cautious. I'm sick of being injured...

Cross country skiing at soldier hollow. Amazing workout, and it was tons of fun. This is kind of cheating counting these miles, but 8.5 miles running would be easier than this. My hip didn't hurt today which is good. KInd of a stinky week, running wise. These past 2 weeks have thrown me off track . I scraped un my right knee pretty badly tonight. I was answering a girl for preference, and as I was running across the streetI tripped on something and almost face planted. Luckily she didn't open the door right then, cause that would be super embarresing. 2 weeks ago, 2 guys from Lone Peak had blogs, including me. Now there are 5.

Planned on going fast, but I didn't. My stomach wasn't agreeing with me at all. I stopped at Walmart on the way back and put my beanie in my pocket. On they way out, a Walmart worker shoved me onto the ground and yelled "SHOPLIFTER"! He thought the lump in my pocket was something that I stole, but once I showed him, he could tell that they were pretty used, and that I didn't steal them. Kind of scary, but hilarious at the same time. I hope nobody that I knew saw me, that would be embarressing.

First day of the track class, which I can tell will be super nice. Went on the BST until we were right under Molly's, and stephen and I decided to go down to the canal. We went on that the rest of the way home. The batherooms were still open on the canal, which I was extremely grateful for. Averaged a 7:10, I am happy with. My stomach didn't hurt much during the run today like yesterday, but it started to hurt a lot more soon after I finished the run. DId weights afterwards and Gunnarson got mad at us for tracking mud in the weight room, so we cleaned it up. I got to use a pretty cool vacumn, and so did justin. I don't think anyome felt too good during the run.

I stayed up until 4 in the morning last night at my young men leaders cabin playing ping-pong, so I was pretty wiped out. Did 8 slow miles. Went on the canal towards smith's marketplace. Around the 5.5 mile mark I started to get really light headed, and I sat down for like 10 minutes to get back to normal. For the rest of the run I would have to walk for a bit after 5 or so minutes of running.

Slow milesFast milesTotal Distance

In the morning I went up to sundance to teach my little brother how to ski. At one point we wer sitting dowm and this ski comes up behind me pretty fast(somewhere between 12-15mph), and runs right into my butt. I've got a good bruise from that now and it hurt quite a bit during my run. I did the wall and explored some trails above the mountain run. Stats for the wall: .34 miles long, gains 497ft in elevation, highest grade 64% with an average of 42. Afterwards I ran around a bit more just to get some decent mileage.

I was feeling pretty decent today, so I decided to stick up with the leaders today. Did the mountain run from the school. We got kicked out of the golf course on the way back for throwing rocks on the pond, which was quite exciting. Did strides afterwards, which felt nice. The last time I did strides was at Nike, and those strides were the best. Found out trevor won't do football next year, and he be a big + for the team. However, this makes it harder for me to make varsity next xc season. This is the order right now: galen, zack, jamison, justin, trevor, josh & craik, and seth is somewhere in there I have been able to keep up with Craik the last few weeks, so i'm pretty close to him. I'm not going to be able to run at all during most of July, which will probably be why I don't make varsity. Well, xc season isn't for over 7 months, so a lot can happen. And I will do all in my power to make sure i'm in that top 7.

4x600 repeats on Tawny's hill. 15 minute warmup and cooldown. I got 2:23,2:24,2:23,2:18. Decent times considering the last workout I did was either in late november or early december. Once my legs get into faster shape, I wan't to be hitting, 2:15's on them. Did a super insane strength/core workout with the new coach, and it was a lot harder than the hill sprints we did. Afterwards the coaches brought us chocolate milk, which was awesome.

3x5 minute pickups on the canal. I didn't push at hard as I should have, but I still did decent. I just hit a cruise speed on them and stayed the same pace the whole time. The only ones that did it were galen, justin, lil' warner, craik and me. Cut the cooldown a little short with craik because we were both feeling sick afterwards. Did the strenght training stuff again, but it was different. Did some suicides, which if you've never played basketball, you have probably don't have a clue what they are. Reminded me of my basketball days... I miss those days, but running is super fun too. We basically doing crossfit for a half hour after our run every B-day. The first race that I can go to is the distance challenge. My last race was the Nebo invite, and when I think of that, I think of how bad my XC season went. With such a low start to my junior year, I need to finish it on a super good note. I feel like i'm finally getting to where I should have been during the XC season. I'm already super excited to run the race, even though it's 2 weeks away!

I ran by myself today. I started and felt pretty darn good, so I decided to make this a progression run. Did it on the canal. Here are my splits:6:54, 6:41, 6:32, 6:28,  6:18, 6:10, 6:02, 5:57, 5:49, 6:00. The last mile was all uphill, and it felt like a 5:20 something pace. I wish I would have raced today, to see what I could have gotten when feeling as good as I did today. I broke my 3 mile PR 4 times, which is cool, but also dumb. Shows what a bad xc season I had

Slow milesFast milesTotal Distance

I din't have any motivation to go fast today, but I still wanted to go far. With about 3 miles left, I had to use the bathroom super bad, and I walked for a little bit. My brother drove by and asked if I wanted a ride home, and I accepted. I haven't hit 40 miles in a week since September!

Short run on the bonneville shoreline trail, because we started a little late. I didn't want to be late for Coach meldrum's strenght training, so I kicked my butt the last almost 2.5 miles, and went sub-6 that whole time. We know for sure now that coach meldrum held the world record in the 3000 meter steeplechase for a time, which is super awesome. Afterwards galen, jamison, justin, trevor, josh erikson, and me ran to mountain ridge, and then to take an ice bath in the river.

I had a pretty rough day at school today, so I was planning on hitting the workout today, 3x5 minute pickups, pretty hard. But I couldn't do much of anything today. I was broke mentally the whole time, and wasn't able to push it. I know that it will take time to get used to the high mileage, because the last time I ran over 48 miles in a week was in July when I was at lake powell.  I feel like these miles didn't do anything for me.

Definely a candidate for the best run of all time. If falls into the #2 slot behind my slot canyon run at lake powell. I was originally just going to go on the BST, but I wanted to do something different for a change. So I went up. And up. And up. Once I was at the top of the foothills I found a deer trail. FUNNEST TRAIL OF ALL TIME. It's flat, you have an amazing view of the valley from it, and you go by 2 small caves. Thr trail is now called Spencer's Trial. Pretty creative, huh? Oh, and my knees were fine.

I heard a pretty cool quote today:

"A goal without a plan is a wish".

3x3 minute pickups today. Did a core workout afterwards then strides. Felt pretty sick today, but will race tomorrow not matter how sick I feel. I'm SOOOO excited to race. I'm not putting my hopes up for a good race, because it's been a while. But even if I have a bad race, it would still have been fun, because racing is my favorite part of running and i've missed out on it for a while.

Race: Utah Distance Challenge (1 Miles) 00:05:02, Place overall: 117, Place in age division: 6
Slow milesFast milesTotal Distance
4.501.005.50

First of all, It was awesome just to get to race again. It was so much fun. We did a good 15 minute warmup, but it was a little early for my heat. I was in the 7th heat, most of the guys were around 5:12. I got a great start and settled into 3rd on the first curve. From this point on until the start of the last lap, I tried to keep the same pace. I zoned out, which is a really bad habit I need to break during races. Russell passed me with a lap to go, and I couldn't let him beat me. I started my all out sprint about 2/3 of the way through the final curve. Once i hit the straightaway, the clock was 4:46! I though I could break 5 but I forgot that the straighaways were 140 m insteadof 100. Well, I did close in 15 seconds for 140 meters, so my final sprint was good. I beat russell by 4 seconds, I think. I was a little mad at myself because if I had paced it right, I could have broken 5 pretty solidly. My original goal was to beat Craik, who got 4:58 in the heat in front of me. Good 15 minute cooldown with a few guys from Westlake. We now have 7 people already in the sub-5 club already, with justin oficially doing it today and craik getting it. Josh hit 5 flat, so he'll get it next time. We could end up having 12 or so in the club, which is pretty cool.

Overall, I'm happy with this race. I haven't raced since September, and this was a good race to see where i'm at. I raced in XC mode, which is a lot different than track. With only having done 5 workouts this year, i'm happy with the time. I still have much room for improvement. Starting next week I can go to practice on A-days, so that will help. Next mile race for me will be the team time trails, and I want to break 5 there. I will have craik and josh right in front of me, so I should be able to pace off them to break 5. Excited for an awesome track season coming up!

Anyway, the workout was 6x600m hills with a continuos recovery. Pretty brutal, and I didn't do very well. Did a core workout afterwards and courtney had us do a bunch of sprints, which I thought it was  too early in the season to be doing those, but whatever. Definetily a run to remember. I went up into the foothills till i got to spencer's trail(my trail), did that till it deadended on a cliff, turned around and then decided to keep going up. and up. and up. I came to this one point right before a really steep part of the trail, and stopped to take a breather. Then, I felt that something(not someone), very powerful was watching me. A voice in my head(i'll try not to get religious but i am 110% sure it was the Holy Ghost), yelled, "RUN"! So I booked it down the trail for a few minutes, then looked up the mountain. I saw 3 COUGARS up close to where I was. After that I got freaked out so i just kept going down. Ran into Josh Barton a priest in my ward, at a point almost at the bottom. I feel like it I hadn't listened to the voice in my head i wouldn't have come down the mountain.

Fun run up the canyon with jamison, justin, galen and trevor. Everyone else played soccer. The wind was super bad, and we had a good session of strength training afterwards.

I've been thinking about the difference between Lone Peak's and Pleasant Grove's coaching programs(not the actual coaches, but the different workouts and things we do). I feel like Lone Peak's program has been better for me, even though i've been injured half the time i've been here(no offense to PG). I really miss the buddy 400's at Pleasant Grove, those are my favorite workout to this day. I still miss my friends from Pleasant Grove a lot, and I think about them daily. Lone Peak had a very rocky start with both school and running, but it's gotten tons better. I can't believe i'm saying this, but I would rather be at Lone Peak that Pleasant Grove now. PG was awesome at the time I went there, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. But Lone Peak has become just as much fun. I've been looking back all this time since i've moved, 3/4 of a year ago today. I had my fun times there, but it's time to look forward.   (And all of this isn't about running, but other things too).

I didn't think I would get it because of my foot yesterday, but it was fine. It started to hurt around mile 10, and with about a mile left it hurt pretty bad. Once I got home(home home, not the place i was staying at), I iced it. Hopefully it's nothing serious, i'm glad O have tomorrow off.

I felt really good today, except for foot was hurtin pretty good. We went on the BST, wasn't as muddy as I thought it would be. I did 100 pushups, some abs and 5 minutes of planks when I got home. Iced my foot afterwards.

The progression run was supposed to be today, but we canceled it again. I was glad about that, so I could give my foot a day to get better. I got to practice late, and they were in the spinnin room. I did most of the workout by myself, and it was awesome(fun+brutal=awesome). I ran home afterwards with a little detour. I heard the progression run is tomorrow, but I doubt it because time trials are thursday and friday.

ran 6 miles later with my cuz, who is visiting from North Carolina @ 6:22 pace. Felt pretty good

Time trials today! We did the 400 and I got 60. I wanted to get under 60, but whatever. After that we jogged around for a mile or so and did 800, 400, 800, 400. I got 2:33, 72, 2:43, 70. So I did decent except for the second 800. We did extended golf course for the cooldown and then ice bathed.

Ran 4 miles later, @ 6:18 pace.

Yesterday took more out of me than I originally thought. We did strenght training before out run today, so I was tired from that too. I had a pretty rough day of school, so I decided to go on my own run just so I could think without interruption. It was lots of fun. I didn't go fast at all, 7:28 per mile. Running by yourself is the perfect getaway.

6.2 later at night. I usuallly feel good on runs that are dark, and today was no different. Ran to the top of Molly's and back. Averaged a 6:57, which isn't bad for running in the dark.

We had a dual meet vs Lehi today. Did the mile and 800. I forgot a lunch and only ate a piece of toast for breakfast, so I had no energy. That's all I have to say for the dual meet. We had a tempo afterwards, but everyone left me so I did it with Josh Skousen.

I don't remember my times exactly, but they were around 5:30 pace, so not too good.  Ice bath in the river after the cooldown and we dunked ourselves under afterwards, which felt awesome. Speed is the thing that I need to work on. I'm a decent sprinter, and good on distance runs, but i'm not good at interval workouts. It took forever to tie it for some reason, and by the time I was done I couldn't see them anymore. Once I was out of lambert I went on this one trail that we have done before ut idk what it's called. Overall it was pretty fun. Everyone did really well at the meet yesterday, and i've got some catching up to do. 3 more guys broke 5 yesterday, and i'm behind in the 2 mile too. This next week at the Westlake dual i'm doing the mile and the 2. I need to break 5 and 11 then.

Just a modest run. I feel much better than yesterday, but definetily not 100%. I was super dehydrated today, even though I drank a ton. My parents aren't letting me race until after spring break because there super lame. It does set me up for some pretty big PR's though. I want to run sub 4:50 and sub 10:30 my first races back. Gonna train super hard these weeks I can't race. Not in terms of mileage, but in effort. I can go harder some on the distance runs, but where I can do a lot better are the interval workouts on the track. I'm not happy about not getting to race for a while, but I am going to play it to my advantage all that I can.

We went over to the river to icebath afterwards, but I felt terrible so I just laid on the grass and took a short nap. I got new shoes once I got home! There are extra spots for the 3200 on saturday at UVU but I can't go. If I had a decent race I know I would PR by ton. I think I'm pretty close to my goal of 10:30. We had practice at 8 this morning, and I had some blood drawn at about 7:25. I still went to practice, and it sucked. I should have waited until tonight to run. The run was super boring because it was on roads the whole time. I migth run more later if I feel better.

Ryan said that I can do the timp trail half at the end of may! It's an extremely slow course, as you gain almost 3,000 feet during the run, and it's pretty technical in spots. Only 13 guys did that half marathon last year, and if it's like that this year, I should have a good chance of winning! My uncle is doing it too, so it will be a blast!

4 later. I felt really good. When I run twice in the same day, it's weird how different I feel sometimes.  Averaged a 6:05.

super fun run today. It was half adventure run half regular. We started out doing hobbit hole, which Josh E. has never done before. We then went on the black trail and turned towards Lehi Dip. By this time is was only craik, lil' warner, seth, josh E., and me.  We ran through some good sized dirt piles while lil' warner told us all about stuff we didn't really have any interest in. We ran through a backyard and the house next door had a few small dogs that started to chase us. Small dogs are the scariest. We sprinted through the backyard only to come to a dip 6-8 feet deep with a river in it. We all jumped down and crossed the river, I didn't even get my shoes wet! We then went through the field with the longhorns in it. Then we ran back to Legacy and stood around for 30 minutes and talked. Learned some useful and interesting stuff about patos.  Fun stuff.  I might run more later.

When I say later, I usually mean in the evening, but I had nothing to do so I went 2 hours after I got home from practice. After waking up from a 45 minute nap feeling very refreshed I ran a little past mountain ridge and back. Not the most exciting run, but the extra miles were hurting, and that's a good thing ( not the injured hurt, the usual hurt). 5.9 miles total, 7:12 average pace. Last 2 miles were around 6:10 pace, and they were uphill.

Rough workout today. 5x800 with first 400 at mile pace, the next lap 1-2 seconds faster. I really struggled on these, and i'm not sure why. On the last one Katie had us split the last 800 into 2 400's because nobody was hitting their times. I will run more later, because tomorrow i'm leaving early in the morning to go skiing at Brighton, and I will be super tired afterwards and I still want to hit at least 55 miles this week. And i'm only in 79 place for miles this year on the blog... That needs to go up. And galen is like 7 miles ahead of me. I need to put at  least 75 miles on him before I leave for new york. I only ran 126 miles in January because of being sick and whatnot, but in February I ran 200 and March 218. I'm in like 25th right now for the month which is good. I want ot be hitting double digits everyday, and I feel like I can w/out injuring myself again. But it's track season, and with all the interval workouts, I shouldn't be doing much more than 55 miles a week. In June before I leave, I will be hitting 60-70 miles every week, because even though I will have a month off after that, I still want to hit my goal of 2015 miles this year.

6 mile run later with lots of hills.

I had very high goals my junior year, and none were achieved. My goals for the year were: make varisty for all of XC season, 16:45 3 mile, top 50 at state.  Track- sub 4:45 mile, sub 10:30 2 mile, 2:07 800, and top 6 on the team for the 2 mile. I would have to be at 10:17 or faster to get that last one. I didn't achieve any of these. I want to make varisty extremely bad this next XC season, and things aren't going in my favor. By the way it looks now 3 guys will be fighting for that 7th spot, and both are faster than me at the moment. Our team can achieve great things this next season, and I will do everything I can to be a part of it. It's just not looking like I will right now.

Well, I didn't know I would be racing until lunch time, and I knew I wouldn't do well today, because I ate a big lunch right before. For the warmup josh and I went in the 2 mile(which was the first event, went on the same time as the hurdles, for some strange reason). Molen then got mad at us and kicked us off after 3 laps. I treated the race just like a hard tempo, because I knew I wouldn't be able to get the time I wanted. It's good to get a race on my legs, because this weekend I am running the mile and the 2 mile at provo invite. I want to get 4:52 or under there, if i'm feeling good under 4:48. I could score, because I will be in the fast heat, and josh is the to seed in the mile. I want to be under 10:25 for the 2 mile, because i'm more of a 2 mile guy.  I am go grateful I got to run today, it was a blast, even though I didn't do so hot.

Just an easy run before racing tomorrow. We played some good whonketball, was a good time. Super excited to race tomorrow. It originally was the mile tomorrow, but i thinks it's actually the 2 mile then.

I ran a tiny bit more when I got home so I could say I ran 222.22 miles this month.

there are 20 people in front of me with seed  times for the mile, so I don't think I will be in the fast heat which is a super big bummer. I will be in the top heat for the 2 mile though. There are actually some decent competition there, lot's of guys are in the 10:30 range which is where I want to be.

I did better than yesterday, but still not that great. My splits were all over the place, 71,79(yikes), 80(uh-oh), and 75. I am menatlly weak. If I want to get to the level I should and want to be at, this is where the improvement needs to happen. I'm in good shape, but this is my weakness. I have the crappiest mindset possible during races. I am always think about how hard I am hurting. That needs to change.

sadly, no run today. My shin was hurting again, but I don't think it's anything serious. My mileage has really dipped these past few weeks. I did get a super insane core workout in though! I did the workout Courtney did with us the very first session of strenght training. Felt a lot easier this time, but it was still super hard. Molen wants us to win region, so he's puttin a bunch of our guys and girls that have already qualified to score points, which is freakin stupid. He's crushin people's dreams out there. Good luck to everyone trying to qualify these next few days, especially if you go to Lone Peak(if you haven't already qualified), haha.

Ran more my myself later because I feel guilty about not running yesterday, and running in the rain is pretty much the best thing in the world. It's definetily in the top 5 of favorite things to do.

One of the best runs of all time. I was originally going to run down to BYU to watch my teammates in the 2 mile, but of course I couldn't go for a stupid reason. I then went up provo canyon a bit to timp park to do the course for the trail half marathon i'm doing in 2 weeks. I stayed on the course until about mile 4, then I accidently took a wrong turn. I went on this amazing trail for a few miles before turning back. There wasn't anything huge that stood about this run, it was just crazy fun. It was pouring rain the whole time, which only made it 10x better. The trail was super muddy, and I fell a few times, but that didn't stop me from having a super good time.

Shoutout to my teammates who ran the 2 mile today. Conditions definetily weren't the best but they still did awesome. Our team actually did pretty decent, placing 5th for guys and 4th for girls.

This was not the way I though my junior season would pan out. Nothing went my way, and I didn't achieve any of my goals. I haven't really had any high points this past year with running, and i've had a lot of lows. I'm gonna make sure my senior season is the exact opposite. Reaching all my goals, having fun, and having most things pan out the way I want them too.

On that note, this was a bad week of mileage. Actually terrible. Next week i'm hitting it hard with lots of hills, and at a faster pace than normal too. So pumped for summer XC training! Even though I will only be at practice for like 3 weeks of the whole summer...

Played basketball during the track class. When I got home I started to go for a run, was planning on doing like 10ish miles. But I felt pretty good, so I decided to do a 5k time trial. I did a mile warmup, and then did a 5k loop I made from my house. I got 17:28! This is like a almost 2 minute PR for me, but it's not official. No one was there to see me do it, so it dosen't really count. But for all like 2-3 of you that read my blog, do you think I could put this as a PR? I also did some hardcore core(get it?) later. That's one thing i'm gonna work a lot on this summer.

Put it down. It's very impressive to run a 5k PR solo, just as long as it isn't downhill, or is just 3 miles instead of a full 5k.

Root beer mile. I'm like allergic to soda. Whenever I take a sip of it, I feel terrible for the next while. I was one of the first guys with the first can down, but I threw up at the 150 mark. I then jogged the rest of the lap and started on my second, and after like a minute I had barely drunk any, so I gave up.

I tried to run later, but I feel like crap. This means long runs as in 11+ the rest of the week.

loooong run. Kinda zoned out for a bit. Did mountain run up to lambert and ran some up there. After a while I looked at my watch and I had run 10.8 miles! The last time before that i checked I was at 6.2. Scary. On the way back I though up this scenario where I was ubducted by aliens for a while and they magically added miles onto my watch, and then wiped my memory. And I am now convinced that is what happened to me. It's like I was unconsious for a bit during that 4.5 mile stretch. That's like 30 minutes! Sketchy stuff.  Did a tough core workout afterwards. Going mountain biking for mutual tonight which I am pretty excited for. We're going up to lambert so maybe the same thing will happen again...  It was actually canceled because it supposed to rain. My leaders are wusses.

Sadly, my watch is broken. From last saturday when it was pouring rain on my run some water got into it, and it hasn't been working well since, and it totally blew up on the inside soon after my run today. And suggestions for a new watch for me? I want to only pay 200 max, and I don't care about all the fancy stats.

Went to Battle Creek canyon and back on Bonneville. Good run. I went a little slower than usual(by feel, because my watch is broken), but I think I averaged around a 7:10. I only stopped once though, so that makes up for the slower pace. Tough core workout when I got home.

As soon as I got home I had to go to my sister's clogging show, which was dumb. I did see ryan there though, which was funny. I ran like .75 miles there with my lil' brother, who is 3. He's gonna be a good runner. He's already super competitive, and he did all of it without stopping much. I don't know how impressive that is, but .75 miles as a 3 year old seems pretty good to me.

4 mile loop in Alpine. I felt good and wanted to push it, but everyone is getting back from their week off so they didn't want to. I did some pretty good core after I got home, and I also stretched which felt awesome. Those last few spots on varsity on going to be coveted. There are 5-6 guys that could get those spots. It's a few months away though, so anything can happen. I'm the only senoir in the mix. I'm not going to let someone take my spot when they have another year to have it. This will be the deepest and most likely best team Lone Peak has ever had, and I want to be a part of it. (Not the JV part.)

I've decided the longest i'm going to run is 11 miles in one run this summer, unless we do more in practice. Endurance is not a problem for me. It's the speed I need to work on. I will still we doing inbetween 7-10 miles a day, but the pace needs to be faster. No more run's in the 7's. Only 6's and faster. I've said this a lot, but i'm so pumped for XC this year, I need to make up for my fiasco of a junior year with some killer times.

School's over! Done with that shiz. Skipped track class today because we weren't going to do anything and went home and did a good run. On bonneville, but I added a few hillier trails. Was hitting 6:20's for most of it, and I was happy with that.

A bit later I went deep into some stats for next  year. According to region last year, (w/seniors taken out) Lehi would win, AF, LP, Herriman, PG, Riverton and westllake. But of course it's not too accurate.  According to 2 mile times this track season, which is more recent, it goes AF, LP, Lehi, riverton, herriman, westlake then PG. I only did it for our region cuz the only super good team out of it is davis. State wide, it would be AF with 49 points, Lone Peak with 72 points, then davis with 72 points. Davis won the 6th man tie by 2 spots and 3 seconds. This year should be good. AF isn't the clear cut winner like they usually are, and either AF, davis, lone peak or lehi could get the state championship.

Ran a bit later with my new watch, which came today.

I hate the course, whether it's the one they did last year or the original one.  Most guys got their sub-5 shirts today which made me sad.

Ran/hiked the tree of knowledge today(hiking up mount mahogany). Super fun stuff. On the way up we just went straight up the mountain instead of going on a trail, cuz we didn't know there was one. With about a quater mile to go to the top, we ran into galen and his cousin, which was pretty funny. We had waited at the bottom of the mountain for a while for him, but we decided to head up after a while. This last quarter mile probably took 30-45 minutes, a few guys got lost. We just kept telling them to go up, which is pretty funny. We spent probably 20 minutes at the top, and it took less that 40 minutes to get down, because galen knew a trail that we could take. There was over 8200 feet of elevation change, and it you put that into the mileage it was about a 12 mile run.

I had a bunch of incredible running experiences, and some of the highlights were: getting within 10 feet of a moose on a trail and not noticing it until a bit later, running the famous mt. marathon, winning a 5k road race with a time of 17:05, and the best, meeting Allie Ostrander and doing a few 200 intervals with her, and a few miles after that.

Running in Alaska was awesome, but I'm ready to get back to going with the team.

Not a very good run today. I felt kinda loopy(I didn't do any drugs this morning, I think).  As of now, I'm figuring that i'm the 10th guy on the team. It's still the beginning of the summer, so i can make up ground. Of the guys that are close to making varisty, it will be the hardest for me because: 1) i'm the slowest of them right now, 2) i'm going to be gone a lot during the summer. Runs by myself tend to go better though, which is kinda weird. I can make it though, and really the only chance of making it is getting much more mentally strong, which is definitely not a strong point for me. I feel like i'm usually in at least decent shape, but mentally i can't push it hard.

was bored later so I did a solid core workout consisting of 120 pushups, 120 situps, and other "fun" stuff. I'm on the lone faithful list and i've had 4 comments today. Weird.

Then i cracked my knee cap and have had to stay off it ever since. I should be able to start running next wednesday, maybe sooner. I did 150 pushups every day there, so i got some core in.

Backpacked 18 miles in the uintas today for highb as dventure. Originally. We were staying up there till Wednesday, but when we got to camp everyone was absolutely freezing. It was pouring rain thw whole way up, and even getting into dry clothes didnt help. I was going to sleep in my hammock which wiuld have totally stunk cuz it ciuld have snowed there and it was super windy. So we decided to head back down. I felt like sawing my knees off on the way down. My knees could handle the way up, but going down tjey killed. We got back to the cars at midnight and got home at 2 in the morning

My knees dont really hurt today, which is a miracle. However, they are incredibly dtiff. Im going to spend most of the day just doing my stretches, icing and rolling out my megs. I think i ciuld be back at running the 2nd week school starts. Awesome core workout, i did t thy e 10,20,30,40,50x5, whuc bug was the first workout we did with Courtney. I cant come to xc camp for the whole time sadly, but i am going up ob thursday just to hang with the team which will be fun.

Later looked at all the new 5a teams and stuff. Alta is 4a now, which i didnt expect

yesterday I went up the canyon and spent the night with the team for the last night of XC camp. I'm really glad I went, because I kind of have been in denial of running for a bit, and now i'm super pumped for when I can start running again. When we talked about the team goals, that just got me really excited for this season. Now i'm going to stay off my knee as much as possible, and do every little thing to get it better as soon as I can. I haven't had a consistent racing season since cross country my sophomore year. Hopefully I can race all the regular season races this year.

My knees have actually been feeling pretty good these past few days. Today i went to this physical therapy dude and did some stuff with him. I go back on thursday, and he's going to have me go on the treadmill for a bit, which is a really good sign. I get my wisdom teeth out today. Should be a good time

Casey clinger went to the nike elite camp, something i didnt figure out until this morning.

Yay for me because ive lost 8 pounds since i got my wisdom teeth out. Hopefully i will lose about 5-10 when i start running again, since ive felt pretty fat lately

I WENT RUNNING!!! Did one mile at physical therapy on the treadmill. Exciting stuff. My doctor dude said to go running later today, with 3 minutes running, 1 walking, x2. So nothing hard at all. I guess you could say i'm already doing 2 a days...

Did the "run" thing and it was a party. I was smiling the whole time and wasnt even trying too. Knee hurt a little bit,but thats expected. Pumped to start doing some real training starting hopefully next week!

Knee was hurting today so no run. Just the usual physical therapy stretches and icing. Utah has 4 guys ranked in the top 25 in the nation, Casey at 5, alek at 11, garek at 16, and McKay at 22. Personally, i think McKay should be ranked higher.

Just over a mile on the treadmill at physical therapy today, It actually felt really good. We'll see how I feel later tonight though. I'm at the point where i'm still not running to get back in shape, it's just to see how my knee reacts to it. Later the doctor dude dinged at my knee with this metal thing for a few miutes and it hurt like something else. It feels good now though. Apparently i have a lot of scar tissue lumps on my knee. Saw the team doing their workout on the way home and was pretty jealous that i couldn't be there doing it. Utah is ranked second in the nation for individuals, behind California. But thats adding top 7 times. But if you only add top 5(the correct way), we win nation by 8 points

Knee hurt a little but not much today!!! I'm not risking a run though. Just the same usual stuff, physical therapy stretches, icing and core, except i did go on a 10 mile bike ride, while throwing in some random sprints every bit. Felt really good to breathe hard. I should be able to partially start training next week, like running every other day.

Running stat of the day (this may or may not become a daily thing, should it?) - With all times altitude converted, Mckay Johns is the second fastest individual in the nation behind Drew Hunter. I took 800,1600,3200, and 5k times and added them all together. Austin Tamagno is in third, with Casey Clinger in fourth.

Easy for pre-region tomorrow. I've been looking at my past race reports, and they all seem like I had regrets at the end, minus the distance challenge. I want to know what times i can run and I'm not gonna know if I don't go all out. So if i run in the 20''s tomorrow and say i went all out, feel free to laugh. Dissapointing race today. It wasn't bad, just dissapointing. My race was at 5, and the last thing i ate was a banana at 2:15, but my stomach was giving me issues the whole race. My goal was top 10 in the JV race, but i didn't come anywhere close.

Once the gun went off i settled in around 20th as we went up the asphalt hill. I stayed in this position till probably a half mile in. My stomach started to hurt pretty bad around here. I said screw it in my head and surged up the next hill into about 10th place. Then I threw up on the side of the course for like 5 seconds, but i probably lost close to 15 going through this. After that i said screw my stomach again and ignored the pain and all that crap and moved up into about 15th, about 1.5 miles in. Then I threw up again and probably lost another 15-20 seconds. By then i knew if i pushed it hard anymore i would blow a few more chunks, so i half jogged, half ran the rest of the race. Got passed by tons of people. Sprinted the last 100 and passed a few people. My cooldown was almost as bad as my race.

I'm pretty bumped about this race. I wasn't even tired at the finish line. If i was feeling good i could have gone under 19 i think. Oh well, gonna go kill it at region.

Thanks zack. I know you haven't had the season you wanted, but you will be killing it again soon.

Got in some decent bike miles and did some good core workouts.

12 hard on the bike, average incline of 1.7%, 17.4 mph average. Solid core workout after.

Also walked like 3 miles and shoutout to the Ericksons for giving me a ride the last bit.

Just another day on the bike, with core afterwards. I'm not experiencing random aching and hurting all over my legs anymore, so I'm gonna bike the rest of this week and start running again next.

Cross country banquet today. I got the "stalker" award and I am quite satisfied with that. So shoutout to galen and jamison for coming up with it. I got sad thinking I may never race a true xc race again. Rumning has been awesome these past 2.5 years. Although my times don't reflect the work I've put into running, I'm glad I run. I don't know what I would do without it.

Oh yeah, did some more core today. I am sore.

Hiked box elder with tanner. We didn't quite make it to the top which was partially my fault. The stupid snow slowed us down a ton. Oh well, it was a good time though.

Ran around "G" mountain and it was definitely a good time. Ran some extra doing pick up runs for my dad. The loop is 8.5 miles. Will for sure do it again sometime.

Just got some really deep thoughts about running today and for the rest of the (school) year.

At footlocker I want to get under 18:29, which is what craik ran last year. And this doesn't have anything to do with beating him. I think this time would be a good challenge for me. Craik went on to run 4:41 and 10:18 while having a solid winter. If I can stay healthy and consistent throughout the winter I should be able to reach those times, if not beat them.

But it all starts now. I am fully healthy and I need to stop slacking off. I am going to hit 30 solid miles this week and build up from there. I am going to sign up for a local turkey trot soon so I can just see where I am at. I know I can have a good track season and I need to start building a good base for it now.

11x400 on the track. Definitely an off day for me. Aftetwards ryan talked to us about making excuses. And I make a lot of them. I know I've been injured for a significant amount of time, but that shouldn't be an excuse for why I'm not fast. Time to just buckle down and dealwiddit as talon hull would say.

Everyone go #optoutside tomorrow.

Went up box elder with tanner to where the big rocks are. The snow got quite deep, which you can see if you check my instagram. The run was quite a good time, but the drive down the canyon was even better. After driving down a icy steep section where a car went off the road, tanmer didn't hit 30 till we got out of the canyon lol.

Good run on bonneville by myself. I felt decent and have been frustrated with myself so I pushed myself harder than usual. Which, if I want to have a good track season, I need to do that everyday. Anyway, on the way out 1 was hitting 6:40's, 1st mile on the way back about 6:28 and than the rest was right around 6 flat.

Shoutout to my boys because they are going to destroy tomorrow! And justin said hi to mo farah and he said hi back so he's famous now haha

Wow what a great day. I went on mountain run and it was a extremely good time. I've decided that next while the team is on break I'm not going to run, but I will do the bike. I still have aches and pains a lot and want to get rid of those. I went fast on my run being motivated by some excellent performance by utahns at both NXN and footlocker west.

Shoutout to my team for finishing the team 11th in the nation! There are over 15,000 high school's in the nation, and they are the 11th best. I guess that's decent.
