| Fun run at 1 in the morning in Alpine. Mostly stayed on roads but went by aviary, which was decently packed down. After a quick stop at a porta-potty 1.5 miles in, I've felt better than I had in a while. Great first run of the year. 2015 was a good year. Not to many pr's, but I learned a lot from injury prevention, racing strategies and other fun stuff. Looking forward to an awesome 2016!! |

| Good run today. Actually did the distance coach said to. Just went on the canal. At 1 point I saw 2 guys behind me about 200 yards and they were running pretty quick. So I picked up the pace so they couldn't catch up. But they eventually did, and I ran like 3 miles with those guys. They run for SUU, so there's no shame in them catching up to me. Pace was pretty quick, 6:43 average. Next week I will actually come to practice, and I'm getting excited for the upcoming indoor meets. |

| Went to bonnevile, turned left to the canyon, up the canyon, down to the school, then a bit extra. Ran with josh the second half so that was peachy. Didn't feel good at the start, but got progressively better and by the end I felt pretty good. Haven't felt good at the end of a run in a while so there's some improvement! Car wouldn't start so I called zack to help start it up but marissa helped me out haha. Shoutout to zack for coming anyways and to josh for being a cool cat. |

| Indoor track is back!!! Decent race I guess. Came more for the run of it. Didn't prepare the way I should havenl mentally or physically. I started in the back, which stunk. For the first 2 laps I was mainly in lane 3. Put a surge in the 3rd lap to get closer to the leaders. My goal was to win my heat. I know I could have won if I prepared right for it. Started my kick with like 180 left, way too late. Passed like 8 people, but still had some gas left in the tank. Got dehydrated after and felt sick for like the next hour. Shoutout to justin for slaying and winning his heat. Good job to everyone else too. I know that if I put in some consistent training these next few weeks I will be able to pr once it's time for the ice oval. |

| Ran during 4th period so it was nice to get home early. Did alpine loop and some strides after. Was able to stay with the pack so that was cool. Felt good to get the legs moving quickly. Later found out the last few miles(which were in the low 6's,) was faster than my xc race pace lol. Which is rather embarrassing, but cool at the same time because I was able to talk pretty well during those miles. Rolled out my legs and did a decent amount of pushups later. | Nerves usually get the best of me in races, today was just worse. I know I could have pr'ed so that just made me more nervous. I need to figure that out. Any suggestions on what to think about, or not in the 30 minutes leading up to the race? For my heat everyone put 5 flat for their seed time, so we were lined up in alphabetical order, which stunk. I was in the 4th row. Everyone started out crazy fast, and soon I was in dead last. I came in the 400 at 75 so right on pace. Not sure what really happened the next few laps tbh. Passed a few people on the last lap. Not the race I was hoping for. I just need to figure out what to do mentally before races. I still believe I can break 4:40 this year, with the aid of some speed workouts coming up, but mostly where I need to improve is in my head. | |

| Good run up the canyon. On the way down trevor and I found a trail so we scouted it out. It's a solid trail, but we won't be doing it again till the snow is melted. With about a mile left in the canyon the wind decided to make it's presence known so we froze and then had to take a little break in the sun to warm up. I usually have a good kick but I didn't even have a kick. They said 5:20 when I crossed but on the results it said 5:11. So I'm going with that 1 haha. Did a mile easy before the 800. I ran the 800 half hearted. Just chilled the first lap and then kicked it in. 2 mile cooldown with thr guys and a few lehi dudes. I'm kinda dissapointed with my races. I know I'm in better shape. | Good race today! Drove down later and almost got scratched. Barely checked in on time. 2 mile warmup and a few strides. I was in the 2nd heat. I had to start in lane 8 so that stunk. Everyone went out pretty slow though, so I got in a good position on the curve. I just chilled the first lap, came through in an 81. Then I just gradually moved up, till I was in 3rd at the mile, in 5:38. Steven was in 1st by like 80 meters and a Salem Hills kid about 40m up. The wind kept changing directions, so a few laps I was going into the wind on both straits. On lap 6 I seriously thought I was going to puke. I caught the salem hills guy with 900 left. After than I let him get about 15m on me till about 150 left to go. I told myself its now or never so I opened up my stride and once it was like 120 left I just took off after him. I ended up getting him by .2 seconds. 2 mile cooldown with zack seth and steven. Overall I'm happy with the race. It's kinda hard not to with a 14 second PR. Really fun race today. I still know I race run lot's faster. My biggest confidence booster is that I negative split it, by 8 seconds. And shoutout to Zack for qualifying for state! |

| On Monday I was playing basketball and got kneed super hard in the groin. It's been hurting too much to run until today. Biked 15 each Monday and Tuesday. Not racing at UVU which I'm bummed about. But only varsity and steven are racing. Which got me thinking. Besides the guys racing on Saturday, only Kaleb I think gets a spot before me. I'm pretty sure I can catch him, and pass him too, so I get to run at more invites. In the mile for instance, if I can keep him within 15 meters till the last 200 I know I can get him. Not in a cocky way, but confidence haha. This is actually a good thing not racing I think because I'm getting way motivated now. |

| Super awesome run this morning. I woke up at 5:45 and couldn't go back to sleep, so I went on my run at 6:15 haha. Drove to mouth of provo canyon and went up 5.5 miles then turned back. On the way up I just chilled, hitting around 7:15's. On the way down I was still feeling super good so I did a bit of a progression run. Splits on the way down were 6:55,6:21,6:14,5:58,5:47 and 5:08 pace the last .5. Really happy with this run and it's giving me confidence for my next few races. Shoutout to Tyler for the 10 second PR and for breaking 5! |

All my runs this week have been at like 6 in the morning, because I wake up early and can't go back to sleep. I'm a little discouraged with my performance but I know if I stick to my training I will peak by worlds in June. I think the other competitors are peaking too early. | This was on Saturday morning but I want to do 2 seperate race reports. My 1st leg was the 6th total. It's 2.21 miles uphill. Supposedly it was a "hike". The team wasn't doing too well so I wanted to move up as much places as possible. Once I got the handoff I started out slow so I could push it once the steep part came. But it never came. It was all decently uphill but not at all bad. With a half mile left I just took off because I still had a ton of energy. Passed 8 people in my leg, so it was decent I guess. Not all that happy with my time so I was ready to push it hard on the next one. |

| After my first leg I had about 2.5hrs till my 2nd leg. Drunk some gatorade and a lot of water, ate a pop tart and some fruit leather. Ate a few gummy bears about 20 minutes before. We were in like 20th place when I got the handoff(out of 85) so I wanted to catch at least 10. This leg was 7.31 miles and it went down 2600ft in elevation. The first quarter mile was uphill and I passed some one right away on the hill. It was flat for probably another quarter mile then it got super steep for the rest of it. I passed 2 more people by 1.5 miles in, and then saw nobody the rest of the leg till 400m left. I was going at a pretty good pace for most of it. At one point will a little over a mile left I had to stop and walk for a bit on the downhill haha. I was hauling, going like 4:30 pace when I started to lose control cuz it was so steep and my legs were starting to turn to jello. Took a minute to slow down and walked for like 15 seconds till I had control. Kicked it in the last 400 in a 63, and it was pretty much flat so I was happy with that. We ended up coming in 17th, so it was decent. Not too bad considering how slow my parents are haha. The downhill wrecked my legs and I hope they will be back to normal so I can go for breaking 5 on Tuesday. |

As usual I got thrashed on the uphill but was able to put some distane on them on the downhill so that was good. Breakfast at my house after. Really good time overall. Some really good performances at state this weekend- Zack with 2 huge PR's in the mile and 2 mile, Galen, Jamison, and Connor Baller finishing their HS running career's on solid notes, Dom, Jackson, Emily, Ali winning state as a freshman, and all other people that ran. The trail was steep and rocky(goes up 1500 feet in 1.5 miles). But it was well worth it once we got to the lake. Goofed off in that area for a while before heading down. Turns out we were within 100 meters of the trailhead at one point, but it was hidden big time so that's too bad. Definitely going up there again before the mish. | Dang exciting run today with Tanner. We started on timpanogous road at the outlook point where you can see the back of Mahogany. We ran up big baldy, going there was good except the grass was way overgrown so my legs were incredibly itchy and there were tons if bugs. Once we got to the saddle I realized I was super hungry(I had a granola bar for breakfast and it was 1 o'clock). I spent about a minute at the top cuz we were both super thirsty and hungry. The way back was rough. My energy was completely gone. The first 2 miles back were downhill. We stopped at a stream and drank. It tasted super good. After that we had 5 miles of up hill and I tried to run it but I couldn't. I had eaten 180 calories and probably burned 1500 on the run at least so I was just dead. Tanner went ahead so he could pick me up in the car cuz wow I was going slow. Once I got to the road I would get light headed so I would have to sit down but I would get eaten alive by bugs. The rest of the way was terrible. Every 200 yards I would have to sit down and I was already going slow at it was. Tanner picked me up like .75 before the end so huge shoutout to him. After downing a water bottle in about 4 seconds I felt a little better. He had me drive cuz he was feeling sick. He puked a ton at Timpanooke lol #giardia. The way back totally sucked, but it was Definetily still a good time. |

| Easy miles at like 4 in the morning. Not as much as I wanted but I hit 50 so I'm happy about that. Also mountain biked 50 miles so it's been a good week. Coming home today which I'm happy about. |

| Didn't want to far today so I went with Nick and Jacob. With about 1.5 miles to go we went onto the same road the girls were on and Ali started to gain on us. I didn't want her to catch me so I had to speed up a lot cuz she was speeding up a lot too haha. |

| Hiked Cascade mountain today. There first few miles we super easy, then we got to the ridge. The peak is on the opposite side of the mountain from where we got on the ridge so if felt like an eternity getting there. We had a little scrambling to do, and we're on deer trails the whole time on the ridge. We got up in 3hrs and could have done it in 2 without too much trouble. It was a decent hike but I don't really want to do it again. |

| 6 miles at 10pm with Connor and Justin. We met at AF and ran to Tyler's house but he wasn't there so we talked to his mom for a bit lol. Ran down to Discovery and did a loop and talked to Parker Barnes from AF who was there with some girl. Back the way we came, solid run overall. Average pace was somewhere around 6:50 |

| Ran from tibble fork up to Pittsburgh lake and down to the trailhead. It was a way good time and I did it with my uncle and cousin who are triathletes. So pretty up there but it was hot too and now ny back is sunburned. |

| Just a nice and easy 4 miles this morning mostly with my good friend Spencer King. Balled later with the Lehi and PG homies. We played for a while and it was such a good time. Shoutout to Asa and Connor cuz they're beasts and going to be great missionaries. Hopefully I'll see you once I'm there in a week. |

| No running today because my hip kinda hurts from basketball yesterday. I did a workout that I'm going to be doing a lot of on my mission. 100 jump ropes, 20 pushups, 50 reps of some kind of abs, then a minute plank, then a minute rest then repeated it a few times. I'm not in good shape for this kind of stuff so it was pretty rough. |

| Hiked to Pittsburgh lake this morning with some friends. Zack was gonna come but he likes his bed more I guess. It was super fun amd the lake wasn't even cold, went for a nice swim. I realized this was probably the last time swimming in a high mountain lake for the next 2 years amd it was sad. Might run some later but probs not. Midnight hike to horsetail falls with Jake Jensen. It was a last minute thing and it was super fun. |

| Super fun run today. Ryan said the team was supposed to do flat stuff but he said I could do Hogs cuz it's my long run today. It was such a good time, really going to miss that trail. Shoutout to the porta potty at the top cuz idk what I would have done without it. On the way down ran into Josh so that was sick. We turned around and went with us. Stopped at sliding rock and did that for probably the last time cuz it'll probably be closed when I get back so that was sad. Ice bath after which felt amazing and sadly is probably the last one before the mish. Pancakes at Jakes after and they were definetily better than the waffles at Justin's lol. | |

| Last post for the next 2 years. I don't get set apart till tomorrow night but I've decided to do away with my phone today. We ran to the pond and played tag and based on the amount of scratches I have, it was a good time amd it definetily was. On the way back the top guys put some distance on me but they're in much better shape than me so I'm okay with it. Kicked it in the last half mile and it hurt, but felt really good at the same time. Won't blog about it but I'm doing extended mountain run tomorrow. Running has been such a blessing in my life. It has helped me get through rough days when nothing else could. Running has brought lot's of happiness into my life, but it doesn't even compare with the happiness that the gospel brings. Heavenly Father and Jesus love us very much and want us to be happy. With the power of the Atonement, we can be happy. I know the book of Mormon is true and I can't wait to share it with the people of Massachusetts and surrounding states.
