3 miles hiking. I usually don't put miles that aren't running, but I felt entitled today since it was a hilly hike that got my heart rate up. Took the hubby along- good time! Beautiful sunny day!

Hey bloggies! Only 2 so far today, and these are walking miles.  Yes, I'm back to blogging walking miles (slacker) I'm so lazy lately I figure I better count any mile I can- hee hee!

I hope to squeeze in a few more RUNNING miles this afternoon while son's at soccer practice.

Had a very nice RS BD party enrichment last night.  Had a great slide show of the sister's hands doing service to "My Sisters Hands" by Sally Deford.  Kicked off a ward humanitarian project and also played a purse scavenger hunt (planted some funny items in people's purses) It was lots of fun.  Glad its over though, I was in charge of it and can breath easy now.

Good luck to Kim & Lybi with your halfs tommorrow! And all you other racing bloggies.  Can't wait to read the reports!

(2 more walking miles this afternoon.  Wore the garmin, said I ONLY burned 133 calories in 38 minutes- that's enough motivation to make me RUN next time!)

Long run w/ Sole Sisters today (Buff, Steph, Shelly, Theresa T. & Sara) I felt pretty good on this run, a little slow & a teeny bit of hip soreness, but nothing lasting.  Great group of gals to pass the miles with.  9:40 av pace (I took my garmin off auto pause so I'd like to think we were actually running faster than 9:40 av., but if so- not much)  They are all getting ready for Boston on the 14th and the energy was great today, I'm so excited for them!

Can't wait to read race reports today! Many of the FRB are racing as I type this in my robe (hee hee)

Yay! I realized I finally hit 25 mi. again for the week.  I did cheat a bit by logging some walking miles, but I still feel good about getting my mileage back up & starting off the month on the right food.

Good 2 mile hike this morning up Webb Hill (steep). Then 2 miles to get kids from school.  Weather is GREAT today, I hear its going to cool down again, that's fine w/ me.  I'd like to hold onto Spring for as long as I can, but I do feel bad for you northerners- I hear snow is in the forecast AGAIN?!

I'm feeling quite flabby since not going to weight class last week or this week so far. I think I'll bust out an old weight video and do it at home today. Then my plan is to get in some miles while waiting for daughter to do her gymnastics. I slept in again like a lump today, I need to meet Heather & Buff early tomorrow morning so I can break this lazy trend.

Obviously I can't keep my days straight this week! Kim & Andi pointed out that I got ahead of myself.  Tues. I actually ran 4 in the afternoon.  Now I will try to go correct Wed.!

4 miles this afternoon, 9:38 av. pace.  Took me a good couple miles to warm up first 2 miles were slow, last 2 under 9 min. miles.  Good reminder that I need to WARM UP before the 5k this Sat.  5ks are too short to try to get warmed up during them.

It was a very nice afternoon, but windy! I didn't mind the wind because I was doing an easy run and the cooler wind felt nice- but it made me think of you all who ran the windy 1/2 marathon last weekend- that must have been TOUGH, and you all still got amazing times- kudos to you!

Also got in about 45 minutes of upper body weights & toning today (then went to Bajio's for lunch, oh well!)

Blah, blah, blah.  All of the entry above in black is actually Tueday's workout! Wed. I went to the gym and ran 4.5! Better luck next week keeping my days straight!

Went to gym to run 4.5 on treadmill. Tried to really challenge myself with speed and a little incline. Not sure how ready I am for the 5k Saturday, but a good workout today regardless.

HA HA! I may be into "pre-blogging" once in awhile.  But this is taking it to the extreme! On Tues. I got ahead of myself and logged a few workouts that way without even realizing it- duh! When Thurs (tomorrow) actually comes, I'll log it in blue!

OK- its actually Thursday now (I have been in a time warp and confused my days, yes- I'm probably insane)  So far this week my workouts have been:

MON- 2 miles tough hike, 2 miles walk

TUES- 4 miles running

WED- 4.25 tempo run

*       *         *        *       *       *

THURS- (TODAY,yeah, I'm pretty sure- ha ha)  plan is to hike or run this afternoon.  I should do weights today, but don't want to be sore for race Sat, so I'll just go for some light cardio today (ended up with a 2 mi. walk w/ Hubby today)

FRI- Plan to run hard or Spin (made plans to run 6 w/ Heather Fri. am)

SAT- Run For Kids 5k

I should finish up w/ just about 25 miles this week

Wow- it feels good to type a new, fresh entry (after screwing up my entries earlier this week)

Today I met up w/ Heather for 5 mi. around my hilly neighborhood.  We haven't run together for a week and had lots of "catching up" to do.  I was happy that we kept a 9:19 pace with all the hills & talking.

Tomorrow is the Run 4 Kids 5k.  It'll be fun to see the bloggies and meet Kim!  Also have some friends from my ward going to race: Lanae (10K) Lanae has 9 great kids, don't know how she find the time to train, she's amazing! Sara (I think this will be her 2nd 5k?)  & Andi.  Its Andi's first race- GO ANDI! (Andi is also a supermom of 7 children!)

Ok- I have a weird question for the bloggies- does anyone out there experience a flushed face when they eat candy (chocolate or any sugary candy?) This is new for me, the past few weeks.  Could be perimenopausal stuff, or maybe just a blood sugar spike?  Either way, its obvious I need to cut out the sugary junk food & this may be just the push I need to do it.  The face flushing (feels very hot w/  very light perspiration) seems to be getting worse each time I eat candy.  Cookies & other sweets are OK, but straight candy or chocolate get me bad.  I'm sure you all think I'm crazy, just wondering if anyone else has heard of or experienced this?

I'll get my moaning over with early in the report.  Whah! I really wanted to PR and to place (who doesn't right?!) I knew it would be hard to beat my 5k time from last year on this run (24:25) but I really thought I could, even if just by a few seconds.  Last year I can in 4th, really wanted to pull out the 3rd this year.  Well, it wasn't my race today.  Came in 6 seconds slower than last year and 5th in my age division. Shoot!  The hill in the 3rd mile killed me, I was keeping about 7:41 until the incline, then I slowed down to 8- something.  Lesson learned is to not slack off so much on my mileage.  March was a pretty low mileage month for me and I think this is the results.  I guess I also have to start facing the reality that every run will NOT be a PR.

OK- now for the fun report...

This race was fun for the whole family (well, except maybe my hubby- who is always a good sport to get dragged to these races over & over).  My kids did the 1k and they really had fun.  They both ran strong & fast (Toby came in like 4th behind some older kids).  Kids got some nice bouncy balls (like dodgeball size) and a medal.  They were stoked!

Also fun today because two of my dear friends were running it- Sara & Andi.  This was Andi's 1st race ever & Sara's 2nd.  They both did great and looked strong coming across the finish.  Lenae, a neighbor also ran it and did awesome.  Another highlight for me today was finally meeting KIM! She is so cute, can't believe she's old enough to have a missionary, she looks so young & hip.  We got to chat a bit at the start & finish- CONGRATS to her on her 2nd place win! Go Kim! Not too many gals from the blog, but did have a good representation of guys from the blog- Dave, Steve H., Dustin, Clyde, Wildbull, Tom (I'm sure I'm forgetting people)- all looking strong and finishing early in the 10k.  Got to meet another Steve (not Hooper)from the blog today as well, but he was on crutches, so no run for him (wish him a fast recovery).

Anyway- fun day & run for a good cause.  Here's some pics!

Yay for getting up early and getting the miles in.  Met Heather got in almost 6.  We were kinda slow (9:49) but that's Ok since I just raced & she ran a 22 miler on Sat.  Although, I'm not sore from my race at all, so I shouldn't let that be an excuse.

(Past) Time to get serious about the Hurricane 1/2 next month and start putting in the miles!

6 miles biking today. Very fun. Need to get a helmet today though. 6 miles flew by, only took about 1/2 hr, so need to go longer next time. Will run at least 6 w/ Heather & Buff tomorrow.  (I would compare intensity to a short run, so I'm logging 2 miles)

Great run w/ Buff & Heather. Buff is heading to Boston tomorrow, her excitement is contagious! Love it! I need to get my butt outta bed and run with these girls more often, makes me run faster (9:19 av today) Anyway- gotta run to son's track meet. I get to help be a "picker" at the finish line- good times! More bloggin' later. Have a great day!

Update:  My son did AWESOME at his track meet! (I feel cheezy saying "my son" & not his name, but my hubby is really concerned about too much kid info being put online.  I have a private family blog I'd love to share with any of you who are interested, I will "private message" you the link)  ANYWAY- He took a 1st, two 2nds and possibly another 2nd (still waiting results on an event) It was a fun day & his dad & I were both able to be there.  We are blessed.

SO- I would love to get a little group of St. George bloggies together to run 12-14 mi. this Sat. morning if anyone is interested.  This would be a bit slower than the running store group, probably more like 10 min. miles (maybe 9ish depending on who is in) Not really interested in speed, just miles.  Please come, help me train for Hurricane Half! Anybody interested?

Went to pump class today.  Great class, I love feeling like I'm doing at least a little something for the arms & abs (even though I have quite a way to go in improving those areas!)

Tomorrow Heather & I are going to run 14 at 5:30 am, better get in bed early tonight!

12 w/ Heather today. Nice route w/ 2 loops, a flat wash field loop & hilly bloomington hills loop. 9:34 pace, not too bad considering all the hills the 2nd half. I feel pretty good after 12, but wish it was 14. I like to go over race distance a couple times before the race- Hurricane Half in 2 weeks. Tomorrow I'm running 10 w/ Heather again so she can hit her 40+ for the week. We'll see how I do w/ 2 back to back long runs, but right now I feel good (we'll see what 48 hrs. brings -ha!)

Mad that I spaced 'The Office' last night & I do not have Tivo! I just forgot it was on. Darn, will have to catch rerun or video. Was it good?

Wow- this is the best running week I've had in quite awhile! It really pays to drag myself out of bed & meet up w/ friends for quality runs.  Really nice 9 miler today w/ Heather & Mik'L.  Perfect pace, company, weather & views of red rock.  Thanks gals!

I've been tracking my friends who are running Boston today- jealous! I know they are having a ball!

Last week was such a great mileage week for me , I'm going to see if I can match it.  I've been inspired by Clyde & Sasha who are running their birthday miles on their BDs (like 35 miles for Sasha today on his 35th birthday!) My 35th BD is this Sat- so my adaptation is that I'm going to run 35 miles this week! (yeah, I'm crazy, I just admitted my old age...)

Plan for week:

Tues-5

Wed-10

Thurs- weight class

Fri- 6

Sat- 14

I'm going to get in a couple miles this afternoon just to solidify my mileage for the week.

Long run tonight.  And when I say long, I mean LONG, as in SLOW! Met up w/ Heather, Chris, Matt & Nephi.  Everyone was having issues- tummy issues, knee issues, etc.  I think running in the evening was throwing everyone off.  This route had a couple TOUGH hills too. But we got 'er done, over 10 miles.  I won't even begin to tell you how long it took! Pretty run around Sand Hollow Reservoir, started out warm, but cooled off to perfection for the most of the run.  Less than 25 miles to go this week to meet my goal.

4 brutal miles today.  Went out in the afternoon when it was HOT (80s) & I was super sluggish.  I think my diet lately is a BIG factor.  NO MORE DIET COKE! Ok, I know I can't go cold turkey (or don't want to) So, I'm going to allow 1x a week! Otherwise run was nice in the sense that I ran around the temple in a quiet neighborhood w/ wide streets.  Temple looks gorgeous this time of year, nice flowers out front.  Need to take the family one evening. 20.5 miles 'til goal!

You say its your birthday...na..na..na..na..na..na..Its my birthday too yeah!

OK- It really is my 35th birthday today AND I finished my goal of running 35 miles this week! Sure, I had to do over 17 today because I procrastinated, but as long as I can walk next week its all good- right? hee hee.

Had a very nice run w/ Heather & Chris.  Matt & Nephi joined us for about 9 mi. of it.  Matt, Chris & Nephi are a hoot.  Matt & Chris are Nephi's parents.  Nephi is 10 and ran the marathon last year & is doing it again this year- amazing! He has endless energy. Anyway we ran around Hurricane & got the scenic tour.  First by a beautiful golf course, then some highway and even some trailer parks- a bit of everything! It was a great way to spend my BD morning.

There are 2 reasons (and really ONLY 2) that its good to be 35.  First- I GET 5 MORE MINUTES TO QUALIFY FOR BOSTON! and Second- I get to move to 35-39 age category.  But I'm kinda thinking #2 isn't really that great 'cause there are too many women that age that can kick my butt.  But the #1 reason does rock!

Have a GREAT weekend bloggies!

Great run with Heather & Buff today (9:38 av). Nice to have Buff back (after her trip to Boston last week) She always gives us the little push we need. Last week I ran with Matt my "therapist" friend. One downside to running long runs w/ therapist friends- COUNSELING whether you want it or not! Hee, hee, luv ya Matt! He brought to my attention that I may very well be addicted to blogging. Ha! And he had that figured out in the first couple miles. Of course I was just trying to give a good plug for my dear FRB, but I think it backfired. Now I will be watching my time online & trying to limit it!

Nice workout today.  It was a bit shorter in mileage than I wanted, but it had some tough hills, so I guess that's gotta count for something. I ran holding a bottle of water which is annoying, but necessary with the heat now, glad I had it and drank often. I messed up the garmin, so not sure of my splits, but know I was averaging about 9:15- so that's decent.  I've set some goals for Hurricane Half this Sat.  I know I've put in some decent mileage lately, but I haven't challenged myself at all in speed, if anything I've slowed down- so no idea what to expect.  I really want to break 1:50, my Painter's 1/2 time was 1:53.  Even though I've run the Hurricane 1/2 twice before, I'm not sure how it compares to Painter's course as far as what I should expect on time.

GOLD- 1:49

SILVER- 1:52

BRONZE- 1:55

My sister asked me to join her in the 30 day Nivea challenge today (www.niveachallenge.com).  I was happy for the motivation so I said yes! I know, I know- it involves hokey cellulite cream, but they also have some great diet tips & motivation.  So heck -what have I got to loose?!(except maybe 10 lbs and some cellulite) Plus at the end of 30 days I'll be going on our summer vacation to Clearwater Beach, FL.  So the timing to do the challenge couldn't be more perfect (and I get to do it w/ my sister, even more fun)! I wasn't going to start until tomorrow- May 1st, but I started today.  So far I've ate good & had a great run.  Only downfall was the chocolate chip cookies that I made yesterday, but keeping the food journal is helping me realize how often I graze on them.  I will try to avoid them tomorrow!
