Great run w/ Sole Sisters today.  There was 9 of us again, so fun! I got to meet a great gal who some of you bloggies know (Theresa Peterson) I know Dave Holt & Mik'L know her.  I tried to convince her to join the blog! I always tell these girls this, but I think they think its an overwhelming chore to get on the blog or something.  I told them its VERY user friendly.  Hopefully we'll see some of them join soon.  Anyway- Theresa offered to get a group of kids together to helping the 5k I'm organizing for next year, it will be great to have her on board.  She's experienced with race organizing!

Anyway- 14 mi. at 9:15 pace, I swear it felt faster than that! These chics keep me on my toes!

I'm happy about my mileage this week.  I've been averaging 25, but this week is 29.75 - I'll call it 30! And the best thing about it is that the increase felt natural.  I hope I can keep closer to 30 miles weekly for awhile without burnout.

Ok- so Sat. I was like " la, la , la... I ran 14 miles and feel so great.. la, la, la..." yeah, classic runner high talking there!

Then I had to get out of bed Sun. & Monday! (not so great) Actually I feel really good except my right achilles- its not too bad, just tight when I first wake up, then I walk it off.  But I decided not to pound pavement today because I don't want to aggravate the achilles anymore.  I'm going to the gym to ride the bike later today.  Then weight class tomorrow and back to pounding pavement the rest of the week!

CONGRATS to our Del Sol team who seriously ROCKED that race (as we knew they would!) And also to all you other bloggies who shined at the races this weekend!

OK- I finally woke up today.  Felt like I've been mentally asleep since my Sat. long run.  Yesterday I blew off any exercise- then I couldn't sleep last night so I was up late and slept late today.  When will I ever learn? So I snuck in a later spin class and it was WONDERFUL.  I'm awake again! Made plans w/ the gals to run tomorrow.  So I think I'm back on track.  Spectrum's around the corner.  I want to beat last years time!

Squeezed in 4 miles today.  I was supposed to get up and do hills, but I wasn't feeling good about doing that w/ my achilles acting the way it has been.  So I opted for a few flat miles, around 3.5 mi. the achilles was getting tight w/ some lovely crunchy/ grinding noises.  Doesn't really hurt, but still makes me nervous.  I'll just have to watch it I guess.

Otherwise a beautiful afternoon run, mid 50's, great t-shirt weather.  Went out on a trail alone, no IPOD or garmin (not by choice- neither are working- bummer) But it was nice to just run alone w/ my thoughts, waving to passing runners & bikers...

Nice, mellow 6 miler w/ Heather & Chris.  Forgot to charge the garmin again- duh! So not sure of pace, but would figure 9:30-9:40.  Achilles cooperated.  Best workout all week!

Great 7 miler w/ Heather & Buff today.  I wasn't feeling as smooth as yesterday's run, but still pretty good.  We threw in a few rolling hills (pretty course up around Green Springs) and I was impressed that we kept a 9:00 average even with all the gabbing.  In fact the last 4 miles were under 9:00 with the last 3 mi. about 8:35.  So I'm happy with this run.  I tried to stretch real good afterwards to avoid a tight achilles.  I hope I'll be ready for Spectrum.  I run again tomorrow.  Then the fam is off to CA this Sun- Wed. for some Spring Break fun, can't wait! Hopefully slacking off those days won't affect too much at Spectrum  on the 15th.

Have an excellent weekend!!

Couldn't resist sleeping in today! It was the perfect day to sleep in.  My hubby's been working night shifts and he was actually home this morning so it was nice to wake up next to him (too much info for the blog probably- sorry...) Anyway, I should've met up with the gals for a long run, but the temptation of sleeping in and the achilles caused me to slack.  The achilles was clicking a bit last night and I figure I should give it a teeny rest.  I'm going to see if our hotel in CA has a treadmill so that I can hopefully get a few miles next week.  This is somewhat of a taper week- got Spectrum next Sat. But its only a 10k, so probably shouldn't taper too much.

Anyhow- I won't be online until Thurs or Friday of next week- so all you bloggies have a great week! I hope I get to read those Sat. race reports before I leave town.

Happy Running! (or shuffling, whatever the case may be!)

Hey Ya'll ! I'm back from a wonderful CA vacation! 2 days at Huntington Bch and 2 full Disney days.  No treadmill at the hotel and NO miles logged since last Friday- almost a week- yikes! I did LOTS of walking (2, 12 hr. days in Disney) so I hope that counts for something.  I have Spectrum Sat. so I'm kinda nervous since I haven't logged enough miles lately.  I'm planning on dragging myself out for a mellow 7 miler this afternoon/ evening.

Got in 6 mi. this afternoon.  Av pace 9:10.  Good news, I can still run- although it wasn't fast or pretty! Very nice afternoon, time to bust out the sleeveless shirts & shorts- it was warm! Good views, nice flat run around washington fields.

Tomorrow is Spectrum 10k.  At least I can say I'm well rested and well fed going into it. That's about where my preparation ends! The time to beat from last year is 52:34.  I'm not even going to set Gold, Silver, Bronze- just hope to beat my time, that's ambitious enough just coming off a week of vacationing and hardly any miles!  I would really like to get under 50 min for a 10k- one day- but I would have to sprout wings for that to happen tomorrow.  However, at least I'll get in a nice scenic 6 miler through Snow Canyon (love this course!) and hopefully see some bloggies.  Good luck to all you other racers & have a GREAT weekend!

WOW! The day started out rough.  I tossed & turned all night- probably from drinking a diet pepsi too close to bedtime (dumb!).  Then my stomach felt yucky, could hardly get any breakfast down.  So I was kinda nervous how it would all turn out.  I AM THRILLED!! I finally got a 10K time in the 40's! That was my ultimate goal that I really did not think would happen today.  I started out close to front of pack (6:59 1st mile) I figured I started too fast and would burn out, but I think that fast mile actually helped me make my overall time.  From there I slowed down considerably- splits were:

1- 6:59

2-8:03

3-7:36

4-8:09

5-8:18

6-8:16

last .16- 7:26

I knew I had to stay under 8 min. miles to make my goal and thanks to a great downhill course and a good mile 1 & 3, I was able to do it.  Weather was perfect.  Crowd actually seemed a bit smaller to me than last year? Good bloggie turn out! Great results from many of them: Nick, Clyde, Dave, Steve, Bill, Dustin, Lyndsey, Mike Thomas (who I met today), Mik'L, Bonnie, Ally, Linda and MARCIE took 1st in women overall- she ROCKS! Sorry, I'm sure I'm forgetting some bloggies' names- it was fun to see you all!

A bit sore today, but not too bad. Mostly stiff ankles & lower calves.  I've decided I'm not doing Strider's 1/2.  Instead I will just do Run for Kids 5k in April and try to PR, then Hurricane 1/2 in May.  On Saturdays I'll be doing long runs w/ Sole Sisters & another friend who's training for a 50K.

Enjoying every bit of this lazy Sunday- kids have to go back to school tomorrow- Spring Break is over- whahh....

Was supposed to get up and meet Heather for a 6 miler, but I felt crummy! Sore throat, and stiff legs from the race Sat.  I hoped sleeping another couple hours would help.  My legs feel a bit better, but still feel a cold coming on- yuck.

I think I'll try to get out for a little 3 or 4 miler this afternoon.

Weight Lifting class this morning.  Wow- the weights feel heavy after taking a week or so off! And I'm so TIRED after the class.  BUT I did it ! And I feel GREAT about that! Now tomorrow Heather's trying to drag me on a 14 miler (she's training for a 50K!) So I guess I'll do a longish run tomorrow, just listen to the body and see how far I feel like going.

Just got back from vacation so its time to plan another! (hee hee...) I admit it, I'm a vacation addict, a junkie! Just booked a flight to FL for this summer.  My in laws live down there and that's where I'm from so there's lots of family to see and its easy to rationalize.  Just gotta try to keep the Easter candy away so I can be beach ready for June!  (Only had the money for the flight now, so I guess we'll be sleeping on the street and walking to all our destinations...)

12 miler today.  Just tagging along w/ Heather & Buff as they train for Boston & a 50k.  My next race isn't until Hurricane 1/2 in May (oh and an April 5k).  I ran w/ them for about 9.5, then left and ran home for the 12 mi. total.  I think they got about the same distance in.  We averaged 9:30ish for the first 9.5 while all 3 of us were together then I slowed down to 10:40ish/miles for the last uphill 2.5.  My body was sluggish- still recovering from 10k last Sat. AND I have had low mileage weeks the last 2 weeks so my body just wasn't into it.  But I'm glad I made myself get out there this morning.  I think I'll spin tomorrow and run again Fri & Sat.  Hope to get my weekly mi. average back up to mid 20s this week.

Slept in.  Felt great.  Body really wanted it.  Lower calves are kinda tight from race Sat. then long run so soon afterwards.  But feels like it will get walked off today. Alot on the plate today: work, cleaning house (RS mtg here tonight), and packing and getting ready to leave town AGAIN tomorrow.  Not really keen on leaving town again, but have some family from FL in SLC for the weekend so figured I'd better take advantage of seeing them and spending Easter w/ my parents. My kids are really excited to see their cousins.  I'm committed to getting in a run this afternoon while waiting for my daughter during her gymnastics. (PREBLOGGING 4 miles for this afternoon, I know its dumb, but it helps me get out the door later in the day on the days that I sleep in- so hold me to those 4 miles!)

Something my pump teacher said this week in class really inspired me- in the middle of killing us w/ weighted lunges she said- "you are working so hard right now for your body, I want you to take that same effort and apply it to your diet and nutrition".  That comment has stuck with me this week.  I'm pretty good about working out, but I eat really junkie! I decided I need to put more effort into my diet and making healthier choices. The last couple days I've been trying to consciously make wiser choices and I feel reallly good about it!

Shoot! Preblogging failed today.  No miles later in the day.  Got really busy, lots of excuses- you all know its bunk.  Just need to try harder!

Update :Decided to quit my fussing and go for a run! Got 'er done.  4 mi. at 9:18 av.

Last 2 days not going as planned.  My fault for sleeping in yesterday then hoping to get a later run in.  That only really happens 50% of the time and yesterday it didn't! Today I had plans to run w/ Heather and she dogged so I slept in again.  Can't believe I'm admitting all this slackerness! Anyway- going to SLC today.  Must get in some miles! I think it will be easier once I get to SLC because I'll be on vacation w/ more free time.   Right now its the finish work, church calling stuff, pack & get kids ready push....

Whoa- I think that may be the longest break I've taken from "the blog".  I have been really lazy and loving it lately. Not sure what my problem is?! (no I'm not pregnant).  Anyway- I actually felt like running today for the first time since last Friday, so I just took it easy- no watch.  I'm guessing from my slow pace I got in about 3.25 mi. at about 9:30 pace.

It was a delightful afternoon, warm (high 70s) but the breeze made it enjoyable.  I'm starting to rethink my exercise goals.  There's just so much I want to do! I love to be outside, but I also like weights, spin & I want to add pilates.  We'll just see how it goes.  For now, I'm focused on a new 5k PR next month at Run for Kids and we'll just take it from there.

I also (finally) started a family blog and I'm having to split my online addiction between both places!

Another change- I'm seriously thinking of changing careers.  I've been doing mortgages for over 10 yrs (15 if you count part time while in college) And its served me well.  But as you all have heard (and read) in the news - the industry is drastically changing.  Think it may be time to do something else.  I've kinda wanted to change fields for a couple years, but I hung in there because it was convenient, good money (not to mention my loyalty to the family business).  Now its tougher to make money in this field (I spend my days bashing my head against brick walls trying to get deals done).  I think its time to jump into something new.  I have a bachelor's degree in Psych and always wanted to use it in some kind of counseling area.  You can't do much without a master's, but I have talked to a friend who work for the state and I'm trying to get a job with her.  Should be a challenge- don't get to work from home, etc.  Not to mention the emotional challenges of working with families in need- but I'm up for the challenge!

Actually felt like running today.  Maybe I've just been recovering from Spectrum 10k the last couple weeks?  Just didn't expect a 10k recovery to take so long.  Anyway- 4.25 on nice flat Little Valley loop.  Warm & beautiful today.  Spring in St. George may actually be here to stay.  How come the best running frequently comes at the END of the run, it takes me like 3 miles to warm up and get in the groove. Last mile was under 9 min miles.  Would like to see more of those.  9:19 av. today.

So I've quit using the sleep monitoring, one less thing to keep track of.  But let's just say, I'm getting plenty of sleep (hee hee) Plenty of sleep- except for today, of course. I got up at 4:30 to meet friends at 5am.  The boston girls were running a 20 miler, I just hung with them for 11 (9:37 av. pace).  No need to torture myself that much right now since all I have coming up is a 5k in April and 1/2 in May.

I felt good on this run, great company as usual.  Hope I can fit in a nap so I can stay up past 8pm tonight, this run is going to make me tired!

My baby (Arielle) gets baptized today! Fun day- family & friends in town.  We'll probably head to the new splash park, then baptism tonight.  Jim gets to give the talk on Holy Ghost, should be entertaining... hee hee... Just glad he answered the phone (and not me) when the guy from the stake who assigns talks called!
