Wow- it feels good to type a new, fresh entry (after screwing up my entries earlier this week)

Today I met up w/ Heather for 5 mi. around my hilly neighborhood.  We haven't run together for a week and had lots of "catching up" to do.  I was happy that we kept a 9:19 pace with all the hills & talking.

Tomorrow is the Run 4 Kids 5k.  It'll be fun to see the bloggies and meet Kim!  Also have some friends from my ward going to race: Lanae (10K) Lanae has 9 great kids, don't know how she find the time to train, she's amazing! Sara (I think this will be her 2nd 5k?)  & Andi.  Its Andi's first race- GO ANDI! (Andi is also a supermom of 7 children!)

Ok- I have a weird question for the bloggies- does anyone out there experience a flushed face when they eat candy (chocolate or any sugary candy?) This is new for me, the past few weeks.  Could be perimenopausal stuff, or maybe just a blood sugar spike?  Either way, its obvious I need to cut out the sugary junk food & this may be just the push I need to do it.  The face flushing (feels very hot w/  very light perspiration) seems to be getting worse each time I eat candy.  Cookies & other sweets are OK, but straight candy or chocolate get me bad.  I'm sure you all think I'm crazy, just wondering if anyone else has heard of or experienced this?

Please have some sunshine down there for me today! I'm really needing it! I hope I feel good enough to sort of run this race tomorrow. I wish I could hit your 5K PR! I know it won't be with this race, but maybe down the road sometime!

Christi-

I'm organizing a non-competitive mixed team in conjunction with Andrea (Andrea is heading up the competitive girls team). We need 1 girl runner for sure, possibly 2 if Renae (a lady we run with) doesn't say "yes" by this Saturday. We have all the guys we need. My team is in the sub-masters mixed category, so you would both have to be 30 or over. I'm assuming from your bio that you're right around there?

Let me know what your interest is...

Good luck tomorrow! Sorry no help on your dilema with the candy. I wish that would happen to me so I would stop eating it too!!!

Cool. I didn't know so many people that I knew were running this race. Its awesome. It will be nice to be able to cheer them on from behind, and have some friendly faces to cheer me on at the finish line. :) One good thing about this being my first race, you will be ahead of me and done racing by the time I get there.

That reaction to sugar is weird. I've never had anything like that happen to me. Sorry I can't be of help. I would call and ask the nurse.

Good Luck Tomorrow!! I have never experienced anything like that with sugar, I need to though. It would help me over come my addiction to all thing sweet.

Goooo Christi! Good luck! I can't wait to see how fabulous you are going to do!

I've heard somewhere that face flushing is a kind of allergic reaction. Maybe to a food dye? Or some kind of preservative? Hope it clears up.
