Great long run w/ Heather today! Felt good the whole time! My left knee did ache a little, just enough to notice, need to keep my eye on it. I'm hoping the knee is just getting used to the longer distance and its nothing to worry about. Getting pumped for the 1/2 marathon next month. Told hubby I want a Garmin for my BD. That will make long runs much easier. Today we ran 1/2 road, 1/2 trail and I had go by SG City's trail guide measurements- would rather measure it myself.

| Good run w/ Heather -left from her house and over to Industrial area & back. I was feeling slow, but good. Happy to find I wasn't even sore from Saturday's long run. Getting pumped for a 5K this month, then the 1/2 next month! Really been enjoying this blog. I started it in early March and have seen that being accountable for my workouts has really helped me to work out more often. My goal for this week is 20 miles inc. a hill workout and in addition- 2 strength training classes at the gym... |

| Had to DRAG myself out of bed for 6am weight class at gym. I usually only step on the scale 2x a week, but decided to today. Depressing! Easter did me in! Oh well, I'm going to tighten up the diet and hopefully shed a few pounds... |

| Speedwork at the track. 6 x 400s w/ 1/2 lap recovery between. Found my average 400 m time is 1:49. Now my goal is to try to see how fast I can run the mile w/o recovery laps in between. I decided to reg. for Run 4 Kids this Sat.- just the 5K, kids are doing the shorter run. Looking forward to it. However, gotta beat a cold. Coughing a lot after trackwork... |

| Good, slow 3.8 (w/ hills) with H & JE. I usually don't run the day before a race, but I felt good so I did. I'll have to see if I feel it makes any difference at the race tomorrow. H's got a new mix for my ipod for tomorrow. Beat my PR by about a min. and 1/2 so thrilled with that! But I underestimated the course. Figured it would be an easy 5k so didn't sleep or eat as well as I should have in preparation. There were some tough inclines on the course. Was a little disappointed that I didn't get 3rd! Wanted to place! But thrilled with my time and that's what counts. The race was very well run I thought. Friendly staff. Nice that they gave out full sized gatorades. My son ran the 1k and the balls they gave the kids were a nice touch. Would do this race again, but be better prepared for the hills. Chose the 5k instead of the 10k because I didn't want to be sore next week. I want to get in a long run Monday and am focused on training for the 1/2 marathon next month. |

Didn't run today. Just rested from the race yesterday and gearing up for a long run tomorrow morning w/ H. Gotta start at 5:15-ouch. Hope the weather cooperates. Going out of town Wed. for 6 days, worried about how my training will suffer. Any vacation running tips from anyone out there?

I'm stoked! Ran 11 miles w/ H this morning on SG trail system. Great run. Wasn't sure what to expect because I haven't run that long in years! 5 yrs ago I ran a 1/2 marathon, but since then I've only ran 5ks and 10ks. This year I'm running a 1/2 and a marathon. So the longest distance I've ran in the last couple years is about 7 until the last month. Glad I can still do it! Feel great & hungry after the long run. Now if I can only get in some decent mileage while on vacation this coming week! |

| I've been visiting my sister in NC and did a 5k today. It was a blast, earth day celebration, got to tie dye race shirts. My time was slower (opps yesterday I typed that I ran this race faster than last week, nope- I was slower than last week), but I kinda expected that with traveling, not sleeping or eating well. Also haven't ran since Wed. But my focus has been catching up w/ relatives I haven't seen in awhile. "T" ran the mile and took 1st place! "A" did awesome also! |

| Great long run w/ H on the SG trails this morning. Feeling good about the 1/2 marathon next week. My vacation did set me back a little in miles last week. My goal for this week is to get in 3 runs and at least 1 gym strength train class. Then after the 1/2 I want to up the miles to 20-25 a week and break it up into more frequent runs w/ a long weekend run.. Would like to be running 5 days a week. |

Great run this morning w. H around her neighborhood inc. Foremaster. Felt great! Cruised right up foremaster, great energy. Last week was my BD and I celebrated by registering for the Marathon. Considering I've been running for 7 yrs. (off & on) I should have reg. a long time ago! I'm pumped. I want to lose 10 lbs by June 1st. Realize that's ambitious, but if I shoot for about 2 lbs a week I should get close. I'm at my heaviest and its depressing! Clothes that were lose last summer are snug. So I'll be logging my weight everyday to keep me in line & accountable.
