New running month! This next week I am cutting my miles to about 40. I am sad, but I do not want this IT problem to get any worse.
I biked for 30 min. I then took an extremely slow and easy pace on the treadmill. The IT is bothering me on the outside of my right knee. It felt strange for about the first 1 1/2 miles, then the pain went away. I have iced my leg, but I don't know what else I should so. Please give advice!
Slow and easy TM workout. I have been stretching and icing the IT band. I hope the problem doesn't get any worse. I threw out my old shoes and that seems to help a little.
The "IT" feels better when it is warmed for about a mile. I think that if I keep it nice and easy, it will stay cool.
I think that later I will run another 5 or so miles.
Has anyone ever felt like they are dragging a piano behind them as they run? The last few days have felt this way. Maybe it's because my body isn't used to the decrease in miles. I just feel really sluggy.
I am on day 2/week 3 of the PC. I am kind of going on my own schedule, so it might take me a little more than 6 weeks to get to 100. Today when I did my push ups I felt like someone was sitting on my back. I did them anyway! 25, 16, 18, 14, 28.
One of the things I like about teaching dance is I get to stretch! Yesterday I had most of my classes practice their yoga stances. As I listen to all of my students cry becuase of the pain they are in, I still mange to breathe deep and relax. I am one mean dance teacher :). (It's good for them).
I went to the gym in the evening and did another 5 miles. I followed with the stationary bike. I journeyed down to the weight room and did reps and reps and reps for my arms. They were really tired from the push-ups earlier in the day, but I worked my arms and core HARD.
I love spinning class! I take cycling from a lady that kicks my trash! It's the kind of workout that leaves you feeling like you just got out of a swimming pool. I enjoy working different muscle groups, and remembering how fast my legs can really go. I recommend cycling to anyone!
I ran 6 miles today, felt weak after my hard workout last night.
PC Day 3/week 3 I am not where I would like to be with this challenge, so I think I will repeat week 3.
Lots of weight reps.
I feel great today! My leg is still acting up. I don't know how long I will be able to run tomorrow.
What a gorgeous day for a long run!!! I took a break from the TM and did my "Vernal Route." There is only one route out here I am familiar with. You are either running up a slight incline, or running down. So...9 miles up, 9 miles down. Run followed by a 7-layer burrito from Taco Bell and a steamed milk for 7-11, yum. I got home and sat in an ice-bath, brrrrr.
Next week I am planning on my 20-22 miler. I don't know if that will happen on the "Vernal Route," or somewhere along the Wasatch Front. Five weeks...I can't wait until I get to start tapering. I'm a little sick of running alone.
10 mile repeats on the TM, kinda kicked my trash a little. I was running 3/4 mile at 10k pace, 1/4 mile at marathon pace. I'll do some x-training tonight, if I have the energy. Have a good Monday!
8 miles in the beautiful sunshine!! Vernal run so... 4 miles up, 4 miles down. 8:11 pace. Was a nice and easy run. Too bad I had to use the restroom the whole time. Hint to self: don't eat flax sead and plain yogurt the morning of your run.
Last Vernal loooong run! I don't have to climb the forever long inclines here any longer. This was not my best long run. Body felt fine, but my mind couldn't get over the fact that I had to run 22 miles. At about mile 12 I started running in the moment.
At the beginning of my run I passed a family twice, they were out for a morning jog. The last mile of my run they drove up to me in a car. They asked how far I had run, I told them 21 miles. Their jaws dropped, and they asked my what I was training for.
That run proved to me that I am not completely ready for my marathon in 4 weeks. I just felt so blah. I had to siphon energy out of myself to get the miles I needed. I think that I did better than I am giving myself credit for though. I am just happy that I only have 4 weeks to go.
I hate when I get on the TM at the gym and it has power jolts in it. It was like a stop and go roller coaster ride. I got off the TM and started doing speed intervals around the track. I only lasted 7 miles. I owe myself some miles later today.
After the 7 miles I did leg weight stuff and pilate rainbows. Later I will run 4 miles and work my upper body.
HAPPY MONDAY! 4 WEEKS!!! 4 WEEKS!!!
I went back to the gym and did 3.5 more miles. I spent about an hour in the weight room doing upper body weights, including a lot of push ups. When I do weights I do one-bizillion reps. (I'm not kidding).
2.5 mile warm up on the TM. I was enjoying the workout until the fire alarm went off in the building. Everyone was evacuated. Forced me to run outside...which was good for me. 10k in 46 minutes! 7:48 pace up and down Vernal Avenue!
Tried to keep my TM workout nice and easy. I really pushed it today, and now I am feeling it. I want to head back to the gym for round two on the TM, and then hit the weight room. We'll see what happens. I've got to log more miles!
Later in the evening I logged 4 more miles, followed by a lot of upper body weights.

Great race! I started that thing WAY too fast! I need to remember to keep it cool at next week's race. Sideways wind was the battle, and that big hill at about mile 6.5. Experienced "Runner's High" on the last descent to the finish.
Loved meeting a bunch of you from the blog...way to go everyone!
I ran another 4 miles! I had to hit 60 miles this week. That is most I have ever ran in a week!
Interval training on the track! I ran aound the track 120 times this morning, no joke! I kept running in circles and more circles. A gal on the track stopped me and asked why I was so crazy. I told her I had a marathon in 3 weeks. She then seemed to understnad. I was dizzy and spent by the end of my workout. 2 mile warm-up, 6 miles of intervals, and 2 mile cool down. Great workout, nice way to start the week.
Happy Monday everyone! (I just say this becuase I love Monday's oh so much! NOT)
3 WEEKS!!! 3 WEEKS!!! 3 WEEKS!!!
Goal this week: Cut about 12 miles back from last week, eat healthy, get tons of rest, make every workout count!
