Late morning run after getting some things done and babying the achilles.  I also was waiting for some heat, so I can get used to it.  Went out for 3 miles and had a Boarder Collie dog attack me from behind and try to bite me twice.  The first time I side stepped his lunge and the second time I kicked him in the face.  The owner cam and got it and we had some words.  I better never see that dog again!  I haven't been attacked like that around here for a long time and I am pissed!   The achilles lossed up a bit the second haf of the run.  7:32 ave.

Riverton 5k today.  we got there late and there were a ton of people waiting for packets.  Got packets and put them in the car and the race started, so I started in the very backave me some time to get the achilles warmed up, but I was out of the racing.  Jaren did well though, and Allie ran too.  the race was long, over 3.3 and the 10k was a 9k.  6:35 for the ave of the race.  Just over 2 miles cooldpwn with Jaren, part of that was running out to find Allie.  8:31 ave for the cooldown, and 8:40 for the 1.2 miles warmr up.

Ran or limped up over Black Ridge from Butterfield to the res and back.  Tough and slow run, a lot of is because of the achilles. I should have ultrasounded before.  did the last 9/10s on the grass and the last .3 barefooted.  The grass was crazy long and swamped and I stepped on a hidden sprinkler box and went through it.  Feel blessed I didn't break my leg!  9:25 ave

Achilles had a rough day again.  I was pretty slow going the entire run.  Ran a mile barefooted on the grass at Rosecrest after, that was lower and rougher.  7:50 ave

Solo run late morning.  I was worried about today because the run yesterday was  abig one for me.  But I went out slow and wasn't as slow as a I thought I was.  The achilles started to loosen after a couple miles and I tried to focus on running as normal as possible.  7:32 ave.

30 minutes of yoga after.  It kicked my butt and wasn't fun, but felt good after.

Eric's trail and some extra.  It was a rought run today!  The achilles wasn't having it and would not losen up at all really.  Took it slow, but hurt the whole run.  9:25 ave

Ran with the kids for 4 miles and then added on two more, plus som barefoot grass laps.  The run was much better overall than yesterday, although I was stuffy.  The achilles was tons better compared and wasn't too bad after 1.5 miles.  4th miles was 6:10 and a 7:15 ave for the 6 miles.

Added some barefoot running on the grass at Rosecrest after, and that hurt.  I still limp barefooted.  8:13 ave

Got up at 4:00am and caught the bus across the street with Jaren, Tim, and Evan and his daughter.    We hung out at Ruby's Inn for a while and then Jaren and I warmed up a mile at9:03 pace.  The achilles wasn't great, but much better as I got warmed up.

When the race started, I took off pretty conservatively, I jsut wasn't sure how I could do with my broken body, but hoped for the best.  The first couple miles were in the 6:30s and then I started going faster when we hit the canyon.  The downhill with the curved road the way it was was a bit tough on my body, it hit my right leg ( quad is often tight) and my left calf (injured and non healing stupid achilles) just the right way to cause it stress.  I just tried to stay consistent throughout the race and stay tough.  Ended up getting back into the 6:30s a bit, but held on to average 6:20 for the run.  I got passed by 2 guys in the last 5 miles, but passed about 5 people, so I gained 3 spots and ended up 1:23 and 14th place.  If I would have realized the time, I might have pushed a bit harder to hit at least the 1:22s.  I was happy enough with this race, considering that my training has sucked for over a year and I have been so messed up with this injury, and still am.  2nd slowest half marathon, but I will take it!

Jaren did well, he ran smart and tough and ended up 5th place in his first half and got some prize money.  Proud of him!  It was a fun weekend in Bryce and we ende up doing well, and did some great hikes at Bryce.  headed back to Nephi for the car show parade, and the best rodeo by far in the state, the Ute Stampede.

Easy and very slow on Eric's trail.  My right quad and left achilles are sore tight and sore.  I think this was the first run in a year that I actually limped worse because of sometings besides my achilles.  Hopefully it will get the process of recovery spead up a bit.  9:38 ave

Ran from behind the kids at first.  Super tight right quad still, and the achilles is always tight at first, regardless.  Ran 5 miles from Rose Crest and back and then .5 barefooted on the grass.   The grass running hurts still.  The run was much better than yesterday and I did get faster as I went, 7:36 ave for the 5 miles and 8:43 for the grass .5.  8:36-7:05

Yellow Fork today.  The achilles was not having it this morning, so I took up the back and, startd about 5 minutes back and then stayed there.  The goal was to get the majority of the kids up Gun Slinger and Moon Ridge (Old Varsity hill).  I eneded up playing sheeep dog and hurding them up to the top.  We did have a kid leave the trail and wonder away in the mists of darkness, but he made it back in the end.  Gun Slinger was more of a hike, didn't run too much, the achilles was jsut being so stupid!   Sloweest I have ever done the run.  Alot of the Snake (now Yellow Butter) was washed out, it was more like a ditch.  11:41 ave

Ran nice and slow on the parkway in Riverton.  the achilles was pretty bad today.  Most of the kids wussed out and went short, I was the only one that went the whole run.  Sad!

Ran on Pipeline trail with Jaren, a couple of the other boys, some of the varsity girls, and Lucy.  I was in the back most of the time.  Between the achilles and the tight knee on the other side, I am an old cripple.  Went very slow, 8:44 ave..  Actually tripped and fell and smacked my right elbow and phone, the phone I am trading in in two days.  Nothing bad.  A rare fall for me, only my 3rd ever.
