"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka
"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

7 miles. from work - NE. 9:01 avg. all my runs these days are at an easy pace - but today was more so because my calves are still sore from monday's run in the very minimal, very flat new balance MR00's. haven't run in them for awhile. i usually try to work in at least one run a week with a flat shoe and call it a foot strengthening day.
pm - 4 miles on the LPT. 8:23 avg. splits: 8:40, 8:22, 8:27, 8:07

| | 3.3 miles from work. 8:35 avg. yesterday's 11 miles (in two runs) was my biggest day this year. usually i would take today off but i'm now officially running again, so i am beginning the painful process of getting back into shape. i've averaged just over 20 miles a week so far this year, with the last couple of weeks over 30 mpw. so for june the plan is to work up to 50 mpw and hopefully maintain something close to that, and more, throughout the rest of this year, with an eye to making 2014 my best year of running ever. i hope to be getting pr's at 50 years old! 8 miles from work-NE. 6 x 30 second hill reps on golden ave, then about a half mile and into 4 x 1/4 mile @5k pace (1:45, 1:43, 1:43, 1:46). i know i don't have the mileage base to support any real workouts yet. i just wanted to give my legs and mind a little break from the 8:30-9:00 pace routine i subject them to everyday. pm - 5 extremely easy miles on the buffalo ranch trail. windy.

| | no sleep . no run. no Sugarhouse Relay. this makes four races over the last two years that i've registered for but not shown up to. a pattern has emerged. that pattern resembles something you'd find in a cereal bowl, or on the crust of a finely made pie...
