I haven't blogged in a while but I have been pretty consistent running 1 to 4 miles every day this year. Today I did 3 in 24:02. I woke up too early and basically was falling asleep on my run today though.

Didn't run. I am in Boston! And I got 2 hours of sleep on the plane. I thought since the most legendary marathon is in Boston that it would be a nice place to train. But no, it is not. There is no space and lots of cigarette smoke.  I know I have a million lame excuses, but it is also very hard to run when you aren't in charge. I guess I didn't want to put up a fight with my Dad and brother and demand they let me run. (The won't let me out of their sight that's why)

My fastest flat mile. Only one other girl at the race and I got first. I was expecting to run 6:20 because I really have not been training that much this month, but instead of doing my worst, I got a PR. I didn't have a watch so I had no idea how fast I was going really. I think I did better because when I was younger I always felt like I could have pushed a little bit harder, but this time I pushed to my max and was in a lot more pain than usual.

20:03. I am at girls camp for my church. I have to run on a lumpy grass field, but the good thing is that it is basically exactly 1/4 mile around. Since we have to have a buddy with us at all times, the girl that went with me hates running and is quite untalented at it, but she very kindly ran around on her own anyways. She was very exhausted, and it makes me grateful for working hard to be in shape.

1.25 miles in 10:00 minutes, later I did 2.75 in 21:38. Last quarter was 1:26. It was hard running on the field. And I was quite exhausted from being in the sun all day and getting very burnt.

State race today. 800 meters in 2:38. I think I did 71 for the first lap, but not sure. 4 second pr from last year. At night I ran with Gideon my 5 year old brother, and he got a pr of 2:00 for 1/4 mile. I would have ran more but practiced dance for 30 min instead.

The 800 meters yesterday was hard on my lungs because I got a lot of phlegm I had to cough out today. Probably the worst track hack I've had, but it's fine.

15:36. Last quarter was 1:10. The run was actually very hard, it was hard to go at easy pace, but surprisingly my sprint went well! I don't know why the easy part was harder than usual and the sprint was easier than usual. I did stop for a min before the sprint though.

7:41. Last quarter was 1:15. Even though I made sure to measure correctly, I measured again where I do my sprints and realized it was pretty far off. So running 1:15 wile adding about 140 feet is pretty good for me. But that means some of my sprints are pretty far off. This run also felt hard, I think it is just taking me a long time to warm up. I actually still have some track hack that is hard to get out, but it isn't bad at all.

At night I did the track workout. First 100m was 20. I was on track for the first lap. It was 76, but the 500m was 24. I thought I was doing fine but I guess I slowed down, which I really regret. But I was running in the dark and I think I stopped the 500m too far.  Jogged 200m. Last 300m was 54. Total was 2:34. It was painful so I know I did alright at least.

There is no way you would have slowed down to 24 after 20, and then 56 for 300. I think you just went further or stopped the watch too late. Good workout.

I ran for 10 min. Have no idea for the distance but around 7 min pace. I was at trek and used a lot of energy pulling the handcart and not resting as much. But at the end of the day I managed to get some friends to light my path in the dark while I ran in circles. Got Eliza(my friend) to run a little too. She is probably the least best at running but is the most willing person to somewhat run with me.

Regionals 800 meters race. 2:38.28. First lap was 76. It was 96 degrees. Since I just got back from trek that afternoon I think I would have done better if I had enough sleep, got less sun, ran more yesterday, and had more water. 
At night I did 1.5 miles in 12:30. I always have track hack so it was a little hard.

31:16. Last quarter was 1:16. The good thing is that my track hack was already gone yesterday, compared to the last 800m race I did the track hack lasted for 3 days. My lungs feel a little stronger from training.

Track workout; 500m was 1:35. Splits were 19, 37, 57, 75. Then 200m jog. Last 300m splits were 1:53, 2:12, total was 2:28.7. I wasn't expecting to run well today because I was tired. I prayed that I would have strength to run a good workout, and I did. Not everything will go how you want, but when you trust in the Lord He can give you strength. 
An hour later I did 3 more in 24:51. I'm usually a lot more wiped out after the work out but my lungs have gotten a lot stronger and I recovered faster, so that is good.

Track workout. 100m-18. 400m-72. 600m-1:53. 200m jog. 700m-2:11. 800m- 2:28.3 for the total. I think I did good, but it was very hard to stay on pace. I kept on slowing down and speeding up every 100m. I need to get better at pacing myself.

At night I did 3 miles in 23:15. I felt really good! Better than usual. I think it is hard to run in the morning because I'm still tired, but at night I've had plenty of time to wake up.

30:51. Just some pressure around my jaw but no pain! The only thing that was holding me back was the pain when I jump, and once that was gone I could run really at any speed. First two was 14:40. I had way too much energy. 
I did better because there was gunk in the holes where the tooth was pulled that was putting pressure on the nerves, and I got it cleaned out at the dentist today. I just have to be very careful on eating no food with bits in it. It was hard to even bend over today so I am very surprised on how well I ran.

8:56. Throbbing pain again from getting wisdom teeth pulled. I think it was irritated because I cleaned them. I do not think it was the run yesterday that affected it good thing. But I am getting better, the pain throughout the day was under control and not bothersome.

Best running day since getting wisdom teeth pulled! 

This didn't affect my running at all today but around 2:30pm I was having heart palpitations every 2-7 seconds. They were pretty strong but didn't affect anything. Just felt very weird like my heart was dropping or had an extra beat. Was doing that all day which is slightly concerning since palpitations should not last that long.

I asked my mom about why I would have so many heart palpitations and she told me it runs in my family. For 4 generations the women on my mom's side have weird palpitations that last for a couple days about twice a year. No diagnoses for any of them but I probably have it too.

In Sacramento for Nationals this week. 2 around 16:50. Then 1 in 7:40. 1.5 more around 8 min, lots of stops. My heart was still beating weird on my run but later in the day I am totally back to normal! But 4 days is quite a long time to have heart palpitations pretty consistently.

At Nationals in Sacramento! 1 mile warm up in 8:30. 800m in 2:33(5 second PR!), I got 26th out of 34. First 200m were under 34 I think. I think the first lap was 70. Good news is my heart is completely back to normal. I am very happy considering getting my wisdom teeth pulled 11 days ago. It was very hard to even walk because of pain last week. I am glad I chose to go to Nationals despite the bad week.
At night we did 2 miles in 19:14 with Bella.
I am excited to train for running this year but also sad that it is going to interfere with dance.

Absolutely no pain or anything but my knees are so noisy! They pop so much! They pop more when I stop running for more than 5 min and then start running again. 


A couple hours later I can tell that 5 miles is a bit too much, but I think I'll still try even if it is too much, I will just rest more and I think I'll be fine with the mileage. Running in Sacramento is way less exhausting than here.

46:43. At night I did all 5 miles and then drove to the track with Addie(she was my cheerleader) and did 1 mile in 5:59 in the dark. 1:23, 2:58, 4:31, 5:59. I am super happy that it wasn't that hard. I did some weight workouts yesterday and my calves were super sore the entire run (each step hurt). But good thing it didn't hinder the track workout. The mile felt more relaxed compared to last week, but still struggled at the end. Next week I start dance class again from summer break. I am very nervous because I am certain I will be overtrained. I'll have to be very careful. Hopefully I don't have to run less but most likely will.

38:52. Last half was 2:52. My run was in the dark and with a turnaround every quarter. Since I got out the door late I was tired and didn't want to run. But at the end of the run I didn't want to stop running! I am just very grateful for running and how it always boosts my mood. Running seems to be the only thing that is that effective at clearing my mind from negative thoughts and getting overwhelmed. So grateful to have practically free therapy!

40:04. I ran in the late morning because I went to bed late from running at night. It was super hard, I haven't ran in the daytime in a week I think and it made me so exhausted. I am just super happy I even finished the run. I stopped a lot though. The heat makes it extremely hard for me. Probably a little dehydrated also.

It is very sad that I didn't run today. Most of it was my fault, I needed to prioritize my run and get out the door. Some days I am not allowed to run in the dark and I didn't feel like it would be safe tonight (also I am afraid of a lot of things so that doesn't help). Today I was just already tired and felt well exercised. Yesterday was the first day of dance in over a month. I am not over trained, but I need more rest.

1 in the morning-around 7:55. I got chased by two dogs in one mile! The first one was like twice my size and started charging and barking at me, I screamed at it and that did the job. But still, the dog was very aggressive and it felt very unsafe. Less than half a mile later I got chased by a tiny dog. Just decided to stop and try to kick it, luckily didn't have to. I hate dogs more than anything on this earth!! Since I live in a really nice neighborhood I should not feel unsafe every day. I guess someone on a neighby trail got attacked by two dogs the other day. I don't know why this is even happening when it is so easy to prevent. 
After dance class at night I ran 4 more in 31:55. Last quarter was 1:28. Felt good but was very tight. Luckily no more stupid dogs.

20:04. I didn't have enough energy at all. Just probably from exercising twice as much last week. I don't think I'll have any more problems with running this week because I am only dancing for 1.5 hours this week, last week I had dance classes for almost 6. Dance takes a lot of energy. I enjoyed the run today though, in the dark. I listened to the song "Glorious" from One Voice Children's choir, it is my favorite song. It helps me re-evaluate my life and think about what is most important. And how we all have a purpose. I don't really know why I worry so much, but I always thought I was selfish to work on myself a lot. But the song makes me at peace, and I now better know that prioritising running is a very good way to help fulfill my purpose. If I am strong myself, I can do so much more in helping others and playing my part.

Visiting family in Washington. 2 around the park in the morning in Ontario, Oregon, in 15:23. Then 4 in Olympia, Washington at night in 31:02. I just ran back and forth around the apartment like 30 times. There are a lot of weird people wondering the streets outside. I hate how it smells very bad here. Even with all the trees, nothing can get rid of the smell of people's bad habits. I grew up in Washington, and I don't miss living in this state one bit. I got some rubber shoes that aren't crocs, and I don't like how thin they are. It hurt to run in them. So I'll need to buy crocs or other shoes that are thicker.

First 2.5 were around 7:30 pace, don't know exactly cause I didn't start the watch. Then 2 in 14:52, and 1/2 mile in 3:03. The way to the trail and back was 0.7 miles. My grandpa is so sweet! Around 10pm he went with me and rode his bike while I ran in the dark on the trail. It is nice here because there is an awesome trail very close.

Back to my old blue crocs, they feel so much better, they only have around 800 miles so maybe they could last this year, idk. I wore my pink rubber shoes(not crocs), and they hurt so much. If I wore them for longer they could give injuries. Now I know to make sure the rubber is thick. The pink ones were just way too thin.

I felt pretty good at dance! Just a little less stamina. I realized that the stamina I had today, was the same compared to the stamina I had when I wasn't running very much at all. Although I have been told by all my dance instructors that you need to only work on sprints for dance; I have found running long distance is very beneficial. I just wonder if training long distance is just as good as training sprints for dance, or if long distance could be better.

At Onion Days, my first 10k race. 44:44, 1st for womens overall. 1st mile-6:54, 2nd-14:02, and 21:26 for the 3rd mile. I can't remember the rest of the times. It was fine after, but I had to cough a bit throughout the race and it made it a little harder to run. I am happy because I did my best. But I am more motivated now to train and get faster.

Rest day. My hip flexor and a muscle in my thigh are strained and I am unable to even lift my right leg. It shouldn't hurt running easy, but might be a problem going fast. 40:08. Last half was 3:05. I stopped a lot and complained way more than needed. I struggle a lot if I have to run at night. To prevent myself from making excuses to skip a run or have a bad attitude, here is a list:

1. Run first, then rest. Spending time resting will just make your run late, causing you to go to bed late.

2. Eat at good times and good quantities for easier runs.

3. Like the Nike slogan says: "Just Do It".

4. Quite whining and complaining. All that's going to do is slow you down and make you sad.

When I start to get stressed and anxious it usually means I'm overtrained, or need to do a workout. When I push myself to do something painful, I am able to regulate my emotions better. 
In the morning I did 2000 meters at the track. 87, 3:01, 4:36, 6:04, and then 7:35. 1.75 of the warmup and cool down. After dance I did 2 more in 17:20 and night.

I am just tight and sore from running and dance. While working at our childcare I have problems if I run before I work. I get lightheaded and weak, and unable to have basic stamina during work. Most likely cause I need more water in the mornings, but I need more rest after a run. I think it is better if I don't run in the morning, so I can actually chase after all the kids and not be completely drained by changing a diaper, or picking up toys.

My family went to a trail that was actually my turn around I ran yesterday. Ran back and forth for around .75 miles to park, and then ran home 3 miles in the 85 degree heat in 23:07. 
Just this past week I have noticed a lot of improvement. Usually in the 2000m I would be sore, but now I don't even feel like I had done a workout. I am also just feeling so good from the runner's high. It is the best.

I talked to a lot of friends today. Video chatted a new dear friend from Russia for 2 hours, in Russian! Got to teach her some English also and tell her more about my religion. I hope one day she would like to join the church, but it might take a while.

I am excited to do less dancing, but I know a lot of people will be disappointed in this decision. Been doing it for a little over 12 years and I am getting tired of little constant injuries. I love Irish dance, but I am addicted to running.

2 miles with Maddy in 19:30 something. 
Did 3 miles down the canyon in 18:12! 6:02, 6:06, 6:04.
I am very happy because the first mile felt like a breeze. 
I did 3 miles back up the canyon easy pace.

I really think I made the right decision on focusing on running. I just love everything about running, and I especially love Saturday workouts! Although I was tired and sluggish the whole rest of the day.

I feel horrible that I did not run, but I really didn't want to anyways. There was a way I could have gotten it done. I only had time to run in the dark though because I had to work all day and my parents would not let me go out. I guess there was a girl while running, got hit and killed by a car on Thursday. So my parents refused to to let me go at night.
I just feel like I can never manage my time. I always feel behind. Probably cause my job is different everyday.

2 in 15:20. It felt way easier than normal. Drove to the track but it still had a lot of snow.
Me and my sister made snow angels together on the track instead. I almost hit a deer on the drive there!
3 hours later did 2.5 in 18:38, with 1:18 last quarter. 1 hour later did 3.5 in 26:04. My parents let me run at 11pm. There is  a foot of snow up here and it makes it easier to see in the dark. It is so pretty with the Christmas lights!

52:56. It was snowing and it was slippery. I feel like there is so much snow this December. I had to miss seminary class 4 times in 9 days because of  it. It also demotivates me to run, I need to stop procrastinating. Once I get out the door I enjoy my run.

There was a lot of slush and I have a lot of turn arounds in my course, so I ran easy. 6 in 46:22, then 3 hours later did 2 in 15:25. My lungs felt tired from a cold, but the more I ran the better I felt.
Dance class was hard from running, but I am very happy with my decision to only focus on running.
I think it is strange that I have been only getting 6-7.5 hours of sleep but I haven't been tired, I usually need 8.5.

3 down the canyon in 18:35 with Sasha, Joseph, and Jacob. First mile was 5:56, it felt comfortable. At 1.5 I wasn't able to keep the pace from my cold. Phlegm in my lungs. 
Rest of the miles around 8:15 pace with Joseph and Jacob.

5 at noon in 40:25, then 2 at night in 14:39. Still have a little cold, my lungs feel better though. I am still struggling with procrastination. I need to just get out the door. I always enjoy running, so I don't know why I hesitate so much to just run.

8:30 mile warmup. It has been snowing so much, haven't been able to use the track in over a week. At home did 12x400 with 1:00 recovery. Went down hill first, then uphill on the next and so on.
75, 91, 85, 90, 87, 93, 87, 90, 87, 91, 86, 89. It felt good, but still have a cold. It was harder to breathe from coughing.

2 miles in 15:54 3 hours later. I had a lot of energy for dance class.

4 in 30:37, an hour later did 3 in 22:29. Last quarter was 80. I struggled a lot mentally. I think it is because I had too much sugar. I need to do better at eating less sugar, especially when I get tired. And I would do well to just avoid chocolate, I think I eat too much and it probably is affecting my run.

56:02. Stopped a lot, about every mile. Lots of eventful things this evening: chatted with missionaries, watched a car hit another car on the corner of my house (it was kinda a mess), saw a guy in shorts smoking a pipe, and watched a car nearly hit a dear. The mountains were amazing and I am so grateful for Utah! Also it was so cold my mask froze.

My good feelings were ruined though. When I got home I was not happy to find my little brother and his friends stole all of my coworker's candy, left the rappers in plain sight, and my mom didn't do any sort of punishing. Too much mercy and not enough justice.

3.5 miles around 7:55 pace, then 3x1miles on ice.  6:01 down, 6:22 up, then 6:09 down. First mile felt easy, still have a little cold but it is fine. On the last mile one of the boys farted and it was really bad.
Ran 2.25 miles with the boys, we ran around 8:10 pace I think.

I worked all day, and then took a nap. 2 in 15:50.
3x1000 on the track, finally not covered in snow! 3:39, 3:39, and 3:38! Still have a cold but it is not affecting my running anymore. I really missed doing track workouts. It is funny how good I feel after pushing myself really hard. I haven't felt this good mentally since the last track workout. I can tell I chose the right sport, the more workouts I do, the more desire I have to run, and the happier I feel. 0.5 miles to YW activity, then 2.5 in 20:09 at 11:00pm.

23:42, then 3 hours later did 4 in 30:25. I was very lazy today, and spent about 3 hours just procrastinating. I think I am just a bit burnt out. Just wanted to sleep and do nothing all day. To fix this I am going to stop eating bad food, and complete my responsibilities on time to reduce stress. There are a lot of things I need to change to feel less tired.

39:24. Did a half mile uphill in 3:03 near the end. I was going to do 7 miles but did not want to go out again in the cold, and my mileage is plenty high already.

Did Saturday's workout today for Christmas. Joseph, Jacob, and Sasha paced me for a 3 mile PR. 18:09! It was the most painful workout I have ever done. Legs burned so much. I am still having too much congestion and it made it difficult to breathe steadily. I think the cold weather makes it worse.
Did around 8:10 pace for the other miles. 
Didn't feel that drained when I finished the run, but when I got to my home I was exhausted. Just walking up the stairs exhausted me and made me pretty out of breath. I also don't think I have ever been this drained after a run.

Felt good after resting all day, wanted to do more but I was too late. My joints hurt in the morning so I had to run later, but didn't prioritize it very well. I am just a bit sore but it makes my joints very achy. I can tell I really fought hard on yesterday's workout.

After dark did 2 in 15:24. Finally not sore! Went out the door to run more and there were deer right there, they are everywhere! Did some workouts at home to use some energy.
Today I spent more time procrastinating than anything else. There are so many habits I need to change. So many things I do wrong. 
Some family stress also made it harder to find motivation. I used to want to exercise more when I get stressed but now I just can't seem to get anything done.

2 in sub 16, then went to the canyon and did 3 miles in 18:37. There was headwind. I did not have as much desire so I didn't do my best. After I did the first quarter of Jacob's mile in 75. Then ran home around 8 min pace.
This is my first time doing 10 miles. When I was finished I didn't feel bad. Last week when I pushed myself the hardest I felt horrible. Doing basic things like talking and walking was even hard, resting wasn't restful enough. I think it made me burnt out a bit so it took me all week to recover. I think family stress made me lose focuse and get more tired today, but now I am ready for the next workout.
