Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Earlier in the day I did a 1500m race. I got 5:38. I am the worst at remembering splits but I think it was 81 and 91 for the first 2 laps. It was very hot, around the 90s and I was still sore and tight from dance class.

In the evening I did 4 more, 31:32. The last quarter was 1:19. I am very surprised of how much energy I had especially because I was tired all day and also pretty sore this morning. Hopefully this next week I will be fit enough to do at least 3 miles a day.

Last night I ran 2 miles at midnight and then went to bed at 4am. I got up at 7:30 with a total of 3 1/2hrs of sleep. Also, all week I had not gotten enough sleep. I thought my run would go miserably, but I had a crazy amount of energy. (All Sunday I had a ton of energy also, but finally crashed on Monday).

With some of the Pachevs. 1 mile warm up and 3 miles after the 2 fast. I did 2 fast and my goal was sub 12:40 but I got 12:25 so I was happy. I think my first mile was 6:15 but I am not sure.

22:58. Last half was 2:57. I ran at night so I had more energy built up. I could tell I was burnt out a bit during the day because I felt unmotivated and lazy. Looking back on today I realized all I needed was sleep.

My run was very good though, and I am extremely thankful for the blessing and privilege to run. I love how whenever I am not in the right mindset, when I go on a run I am back to normal. Running isn't the funnest but it is one of the most liberating, healthy, and rewarding thing I do. It is my therapy and it blesses me in every way.

27:17. First 2.5 was 19:50. Fast half was 2:57. Even though it was on a different course I had the same splits as yesterday for the half, 1:38 and 1:19. Since the first quarters for the fast halves are significantly slower, I think I should push a little harder on the first split to make it faster. Cool down was 4:30. Again, I am thankful for running cause it made me feel a lot happier.

27:35. First 2.5 was 20:00. I tried pushing harder for the first quarter and did 1:30, my plan worked well and I got 2:51, although it was harder. Considering I took no stops (I usually do before the fast half), I did good. I might be a bit faster on a better course though because half of it is kinda uphill and I have to turn around halfway and there is a turn. But there is no good spots where I live. Cool down was 4:44.

I Procrastinated and went out the door at midnight only to find a deer 100 meters away from the house. I did not want to have a deer stand-off so I went back inside. I was thinking of just not running then, but I have gotten a lot less stubborn and disciplined lately and it has made a bad effect on me, so I decided to run anyway.

 
So for my run I ran around my backyard. 6 laps is about a quarter, so I went around my backyard 48 times in 15:32. I learned a lot of lessons from this but mainly I have to stop procrastinating.

I didn't think much of it because there was no smoke when I ran and I felt fine, but less then an hour after running I looked outside and I couldn't see past a mile because of all the smoke. When I was running I could still see the mountains but I came back outside later and it looked like I didn't even live in Utah.

I was wondering why the first one was so slow but I realized I wasn't pushing as hard as I could have, so I did better the next one. 

I have been so exhausted lately from doing 2 sports. I am at the point where I am very healthy and fit and happy with my physique and don't need to get any more fit than I am, but juggling 2 sports where I am constantly trying to improve in both at the same time, I feel like I am never doing enough to train for them. I couldn't dream of quitting either sport but I feel like I should quit one because it is making me worse at the other. And I feel like I am doing so much that it is not healthy anymore. But I don't want to slow down because the best part about sports is getting very good at it. I am tired of being tired all the time.

26:52. Stopped for about 5 min then did the last half in 2:50. 1:24, 1:26. Afterwards my lungs hurt a lot and they still do. 
I am not even sure if I should have been running outside this week because the AQI has been over 100.
I guess the plus side is that because the smoke was so thick that I was shaded from the sun even with no clouds! 
And I am not sure if my lungs just hurt because I haven't ran any fast half miles lately or if the smoke is actually damaging my lungs, which I think it probably does. Especially when I ran in an AQI at 160 a couple days ago.

8:56. Yet again another run in my backyard, this time it wasn't because I procrastinated. I am sad I didn't get a full run in. The mile was also a lot slower because this time I ran back and forth on our patio with the length of 57 feet. My mom wouldn't let me go outside because it was too late. I have to be a rebellious teen sometimes and I am way too stubborn to just listen to her and skip my run, so I found a way to do something (even though running back and forth doesn't make a lot of sense).

Dance class all afternoon. My feet hurt too much to even stand for a minute and I was just exhausted. I think if it is too hard to walk it's probably not good to run.

20:12. Last quarter was 1:22. Now that my dance is starting again since the break my running is getting pushed to the side. I ran really slow but I just ran what felt like 8 min pace in Orem, but I think it is just harder running up here.

16:10. I've had a cold all week and it hasn't really affected me but I didn't feel like running harder today. 
I also just don't know what to do for running because I feel like no matter what I run it affects my dancing in a bad way. I don't think it is a good idea to do a lot of long distance running and dance, it is not good to be exhausted all the time and all the dance coaches say I shouldn't run so much.

I feel like a failure for breaking my running streak. Since I am dancing a lot again it has been so hard to continue to have discipline to run. I would hate to quit running. I just want to run like I used to again, but I can't if I dance also. I also love dance just as much and I want to get super good at it, but I have learned that running isn't helping really at all, but making it worse.
