| Happy New years everone!
4.8 (3 am lol): got back from some fun new years parties and kept my high school tradition alive by running the morning of New Years Day. Just did a big loop up to canyon road, out to the canyon, to the road lone peak is on and back to my house. lol, the one time I'll double this week will be at 3 am.
10.08 in the later morning. Wishing that I would have done my longer run at 3 am and then the shorter now cuz it was really snowy which made for slippery tough conditions. Good stuff though.

| Woke up feeling sick so planned not to run. Then by noon I was like, I can make it 2 or 3 miles. And I went out a mile and decided to loop it to 3, then decided to do tramp run which would make it to 5, then looped around to make it 6, then decided to run to AF high school to make it 11, then just kept adding more cuz I felt better every mile more I went. Never had that happen before.

| Met at art dye, went out on Murdock heading toward the point of the Mountain. I feel like on all the long runs I've done, after mile 13 I just feel wrecked. Before that it doesn't feel bad, but after 13 I just feel tired. Feels good to be done for the week!

| 2 mile warmup, then got my hamstring taped up, and put heat on my back. Got spiked up, and then some strides.
The gun went off, and there was a ton of pushing and shoving for position, i got clipped and pushed a few times, but made it to the outside at the first turn, then decided to surge up near the front to get out of the mess. I found myself behind Zac Jacklin and held with him til the end. In the middle of the race I passed clayson and he took his number off his hip, and slapped it on me haha, so i took it off and slapped it back on him. Felt like I had more in me at the end, I think I should have and could have gone faster, just was a little nervous passing guys on the team that I felt were more experienced and faster than me. But overall a great race and very happy with the race.

I feel i'm not recovering as well as i should so wednesday I'm going to go really easy

| AM, just over an hour of some HOT yoga. The room was 105 and it made me very tired!
Nice run out in some pretty perfect weather! Shorts and an old soccer jersey, nothing better than running with that. Ran out, did backwards black trail kind of, then looped around to make it the forward version also, then ran past legacy, and on home. after the hot yoga felt kinda drained of energy, cuz I did it an hour and a half after finishing the yoga.

went in to do the exercise things for my foot (tendonitis), then headed out, then got a text from Adam Wood telling me to go back in and talk to TJ. So i did, and he asked how it was doing, I said it felt a little better without the pounding of running and that it feels less like there is a bump under my foot, and he said suddenly, that might be Morton's Neuroma. He then stretched my toes open, and had me walk and the bump was completely gone, and I almost didnt notice it.
so good news is that I will be back running, just with little things inbetween my toes lol. Feeling blessed that it was something with an easy fix.

| 1.5 mile shakeout in the morning 2.5 warm up. Strides 3k race, went out hard. Was in 2nd and within the first 400 my body was already tired and wasn't responding, decided to try to hold on. Held on somewhat and then kicked. Next time gonna open in like a 66 and come through the mile in 4:23ish Then I think I can cruise the last part. 8 mile cooldown. Seattle is beautiful! Also got to talk to Talon Hull the Davis Slayer (he has a blog but hasn't been using it now)

just over 10 miles in the freezing cold, windy outdoors.
steeple drills after. Also first time jumping hurdles, it honestly felt really weird but I'm sure after time of doing it I will get better
stretch, roll out, and ice bath after. time seems to move pretty slow biking and ice bathing so I decided that what feels like 5 minutes on the stationary bike is actually only 1 minute passing by. what feels like 5 minutes of icebathing is 2.5 minutes passing by. what feels like 5 minutes of running is about 4 minutes passing by. what feels like 5 minutes of eating is 10 minutes actually. what feels like 5 minutes of being on my phone is actually 1 hour. lol.

| Early shakeout to get the legs moving. 2.1 miles Warm up 2 miles 5k debut. Legs felt really good, back and breathing were alright. Also decided to chew some gum because that seems to help my back not tighten. Went out near the back of the pack holding 68's. Came through the mile in 4:33 and felt great! Held that and then with a mile to go started feeling pretty tired, and I honestly don't even remember what happened but one second the pack was there, then the next the pack was gone and I was following one person, so I tried to chase the pack down but was all alone. 1200 to go I my back started hurting and I felt that I could have possible put on more speed and maybe made it to the end, but I was worried I wouldn't make it and die, so I slowed down. Looking back I wish I would have just tried cuz I think I might have actually pulled it off. But I was going slow for the 1200-400 to go and then knew I could bring it in. Not a bad first 5k. I think I could have gone to that next state when I was hurting and speed up instead of slowing down, if that feeling comes again I'll try that. Overall happy with the performance |

| 2 mile warmup, 3k race, 10 miles after.
Felt good in the race, I honestly was really scared about my back hurting so I didn't go with the leaders. We opened in 66, then 64, then I went 69, without realizing how slow it was. came through the mile in 4:29, then realized that my back wasn't hurting, and that I felt pretty good. Started picking it up from there and the 3rd place guy started dropping off so I was able to catch him at the end. Happy about the race because my back didnt hurt and I could breath. I think that's a sign of good things to come. Plan going forward is to start putting in some more mileage by going 3-4 in the morning and then 8ish in the afternoon. I think I just lack some mileage and base to be able to put together a few great races during outdoor track.

I feel like my right leg is a better lead and trail leg. also the hurdlers were practicing when I was going over the hurdles so they probably thought I was a dweeb lol.

Workout in the afternoon. I went to the chiropractor before and it seemed to help out some. Definitely the best workout for me in a long time. 4xmile. 4:45, 4:38, 4:34, 4:37. I can tell that I am really really fit, I just got to figure out the back/breathing problem completely. But really happy with the workout. Also on the second rep, i was behind zac jacklin and he clipped kramer's foot and did a studder and mckay was up on my shoulder so i had no were to go but try to stop, but i hit jacklin's foot and it rolled my ankle pretty good and I went like 5 meters of the awkward almost falling/trying to keep up and somehow I managed to stay up. My ankle kinda hurt but I think with the adrenaline and all it wasn't too bad but now it is feeling really really stiff.

In the afternoon I got it taped up and was told that I had to run on the alter G or on the grass so I chose grass and did 8 miles of grass loops.

| goal was to do the first steeple workout but after talking to the trainer he said absolutely no way I could even try because of my ankle. so I did the workout with the 5k/10k guys. 6x800, 2x400 was what the workout was but my breathing was kinda bad so I ended up doing 3x800, then rested one then did the last 2 800's and then did 200, and then 400. went 2:13, 2:11, 2:09, rest, 2:10, 2:12, 30, 60. Ankle felt fine for the most part. should be 100% by next week.

| Workout in the morning with Clayson. 5x800 with the last lap over hurdles. felt pretty clunky at first but afterwards got more into the groove. went between 68-72 for the first 400 and 71-74 over the hurdles. Definetly gonna focus on getting the technique down better because when I first started going over I feel like I completely forgot what I was doing and started jumping more vertical instead of forward.

| Quite a run. Ran from my house, did extended mountain run backwards, then ran up to middle spring, then looped around, and got back on mountain run, ran down by Lone Peak and back home. Lots of vert in comparison to what we normally have been doing at BYU which made it tiring. But trails are why I love running so it was quite beautiful!

| My ankle was kinda wacked out... so I decided to bike. I went from my house up over suncrest and down it, then turned right around and biked up that beast from the back side and then headed home. It was almost 29 miles and it took me 2 hours and 10 minutes. I felt so drained at the end. It was way hard. I feel like that's got to be how it feels at the end of a marathon. I climbed 1200 feet in 2.5 miles then went down the backside and went right back up climbing 800 feet in 1.5 miles. Not a good idea for someone who never gets on a bike.

| Slept through my alarm, I was planning on going with the BYU team, but then just ran backwards mountain run, then middle spring, and back down on the road. The trail for mountain run is way overgrown which made it hard to go quick. also they were doing some thing up there and had a bunch of rocks laid out and I had to walk over that so I didn't fall.

Felt like physically I could have done more, my back was tightening up a bit so I decided to call it with that. Happy with where I'm at and the progress I will have.

| Workout with the team. Warmed up 2.5, then did 8x1000, then a 500, then finished the last 1000. Best 1000 repeat workout I've had, averaged around 3:04.

Race. wasn't amazing but wasn't bad... I haven't felt all that great for the past few weeks. For the first 3.3 miles I was the front of the chase pack (behind mantz and casey) but I think my lack of workouts and lack of good race strategy played out to my disadvantage, Clayson was right there most of the time but wouldn't take the lead from me. Died pretty hard the last mile. Just felt sluggish and like I hadn't raced in a while... good rust buster though.

| Really fun time, warmed up 2 miles then did some strides, grabbed a piece of gum and got ready to race.
Race started off fast, I always blow up if I start too fast so I started near the back. I moved up after 800, and kept moving up through the first 4k til I was on the back of the front pack. This is where my first mistake was, the front 3rd of the pack broke off, and dropped the back 2/3rds Then a few seconds later this back pack split into two groups. I didn't recognize either of these splits and got stuck with the back of both split offs. I surged up where one of the NAU guys was dropping of the 2nd pack and ran with him the next 4k picking off people. Around 3k to go we dropped a few SUU guys, and I saw two more NAU guys. I tried to drop the NAU guy with me but he kept matching my surges, then putting in a surge, and we just kept alternating til we caught the other two NAU guys that were like 50 meters and 75 meters in front. Then us 4 all ran together til the finish where two of them out kicked me, I out kicked one of them and an SUU guy who was falling back.
Super happy with the race, a great starting point for me, hungry for more.
Plan for the future is just working on closing the gap between the front guys and me.

I could have a conversation while racing but if i went any faster I felt like puking and passing out, and on top of that my calf acted up again a mile in. | Good times at the turkey trot. Clayson dressed up as Kevin (the bird from up) so I dressed as Russell and ran in a scout uniform lol. Seth dressed as Mr. Fredricksen and ran in a white shirt. It was pretty funny when we dropped everyone as we were all dressed up.
Didn't feel too great but ya know, I guess you just roll with what you get.

good lake loop. plan was to go 5:15 and then run around 5:10 for the rest but I decided to hang with the group, we went 5:11, 5:03, 5:01, 4:52 4:58 or something like that. Felt suprisingly good, probably should have just done the 5:15/5:10 plan but felt like I could have gone a lot quicker than what I did. I just don't want to break at the end of the season.

| Good times, thought coach was just going to have us run kinda fast but nothing too quick, but he had Talem take us out pretty quick. We came through 4:26 and then I didn't really have much motivation or speed to keep it up. didn't feel great at the beginning, but wasn't too bad either, just kinda marginal but I ran a very quick time in comparison to what I was planning on doing and what I thought I could do. I think I could have gone around 10 seconds faster had I wanted it and prepared mentally a little better. super happy with where I was at.

did lake loop for a workout today. My breathing was kinda weird and I was hoping that we would go kinda chill today but coach said he wanted between 5:00 and 5:05's so I went 25:14. Felt like I could have gone faster but didn't want to over do it...
