| Got up 6 am. 48 degree, sore throat. felt pretty good mechanically. Ran on new paved road. Nothing like the smell of new asphalt. I want to run at a faster pace. need to work on flexibility. also figure out my stride. I do not want to over stride. but i don't want to over work my legs. looking like mini mouse either. this week i am going to concentrate on foot turn over to see if i can increase my speed. |

| Ran with Clyde, Dustin, Steve, Got there a little late, and I Did not have time to stretch enough. About 4 miles into running I had to stop because my lower back was hurting. I stretched out and it felt better the rest of the run. Clyde and Steve continued on down the trail at a blistering pace. I decided there was no way to catch them so I took the trail above them and intercepted them coming back. We went over foremaster ridge and ran fairly fast the last two miles. Clyde runs like a dear. He must be getting free Blood transfusions or something. He seems stronger every time we run. And is always pushing the pace. Steve is looking stronger every time also. Steve has an extra gear that comes out of nowhere. Dustin is amazing. He runs his best on flat paved roads. I think these guys will help me become a better runner if they don’t kill me first. |

| I got up at 6:30 am and ran for about 35 minutes. Took 800 mg of ibuprofen the night before. What a lifesaver. Ran slow first mile then picked up the pace. Pushed it the last mile. Felt good. Will run another 6 tonight. |

| I Literally had to pry my ugly carcass off my silk sheets this morning. The Body and the mind were weak in the cold dark morning air. Ran 5 easy miles. Not even the pounding beat of ac/dc from my mp3 player could motivate me to push it up to threshold speed. I even stopped to pick up 25 cents. Thinking as I stopped “who says running does not pay.” I think my allergies are beginning to act up. It feels like a cold. But I don’t have all the cold symptoms. |

| The Wildbull invaded Utah county Friday around 3 am after fighting off the perfect storm all night. The freeway was slicker then Steve’s oiled head. I managed to run up to Bridal Veil Falls. Beautiful trail all the way up the canyon. I was looking for Sasha. And he was nowhere to be seen. Maybe, Somehow, he heard that the WildBull was coming to town and decided to take a couple of days off! It was nice to run in Happy valley again. |

| I ran at four in the afternoon today. Felt pretty good. As I was running; I saw this bald headed runner about two hundred yards in front of me. I thought to my self; This must be the "Desert runner." To my surprise it was not the man. It was a cheap imitation from New York. It was a nice day and the heat was on, so I took my shirt off by the river. The Moon must have been full tonight, because the howling from the passing by cars was more frequent then normal. The thought of the day is: Hills are easy as long as you’re going down them! |

| Ran with the club. They beat me like a card on a bicycle wheel! I should of known something was up when I noticed Steve was doing a warm up around the park before we even got started. Clyde the glide gave me that Clint Eastwood smirk as if he were saying, “do you feel lucky punk. Well do you!!” We started up the hills about 4 miles worth. Every thing was going fine, until the last mile. Clyde took off like a rocket, and Steve took off like lighting. Steve unleashed the beast with in and lost us all. I hung back just to make sure no cops were trying to catch them for speeding. We ended up running a little over 7 miles. I decided I needed to do a few more miles, so I went out that night and ran 3.5 more. |

| Got up 6:30 AM and ran 3 miles. I put my Garmin on and kept looking at how far I was running. Every tenth of a mile I would look down at the watch and move on with utter disgust, I kept telling my self, “I can not turn around and head for home until I went out 1.5 miles.” As I passed East Ridge drive, I gazed up its mighty mass. It beckoned me; so I took the challenge and galloped up its sturdy side, wheezing all the way. At the top bent over gleaming in triumph and looking at the view. I said to my self; I did not need to have half million-dollar home to see the view. Just a pair of good legs and a will to get there. ran another 4 miles at night real easy. Easy as pie! |

| I am still battling this dog called a cold. So I decided it would be best to stay out of the cold and rain today. It was a tough call. Today is our regular club run and these guys in the club keep me honest. Sure I could find some blond babe to run with that would be better company, but I run to race, and so do these guys. I ran 9.5 miles on the treadmill at the gym. Boring as a turtle on a hot summer day. To keep my interest, I kept myself up to race pace 6:13 min miles for the first 6 miles. Then slowed it down on incline to 7:00 min miles the last two. Then cranked it up a notch 5:00 min mile pace the last mile. With my sweat flying off my body like a rabid dog, People around me begin to notice and anxiously anticipate me flying off the back of the treadmill and eating wall. Someday they may get that show, but today is not that day. |

| Got the bones out of bed at 6 am this morning. Went to my spinning class. This class lasts an hour and instructor; “a blond bombshell” keeps me moving. I definitely get an aerobic work out. I could go running, but I feel I need give my body a break from the pounding of running at least twice a week. I will run at least 5-6 miles tonight. |

| The Bull went up to Salt lake after the 20 mile run with the club. Stopped by some place called the china bowl in Orem and had shrimp. The Bull has been running ever since. Food poisoning. | I ran up the T-bone trail. The wind was gusting and the lighting flashing and the very pillars of heaven seemed to be shaken. As I was Running down the road, I saw this muscle man running toward me. I said to my self "the Hulk is a fictional character, ain't no way!" I knew there was no way to out run it so I steadied my pace and said a prayer! Each passing stride as our gap narrowed, a familiar smile greeted me. To my relief it was Clyde the glide. We exchanged a few words and parted ways until next time. I am still sick. Had to stop several times to take care of business. |

| This time change is killing me. I go to bed at 10 pm and I wake up at 7:15. Wondering what the heck happened. I kiss the wife, and pat the children on the head and scramble to work disgusted at my self for not getting up earlier to go running. I went to the gym and ran 3 on the treadmill. .5 mile warm up at 7 min pace. Then picked it up 6:30 min pace half mile. Then ran 6:00 pace another mile. Next .5 picked it up 5.45 pace. Last ¼ mile ran 5:00 pace. After the sun went down I ran another 6 miles listening to my country favorites. I decided to crank it up the last 2 miles to the sounds of AC/DC. Had some slight hip discomfort nothing serious. Legs are sore. But I think this is just normal training pain. Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. |

| Boston is the place where legends are made. Three words every runner lives to say: “I finished Boston” My morning started out taking the subway to the common area to catch the bus to Hopkinton 26.2 miles away. I sat with a veteran marathoner who had run many marathons including Boston many times. He was a very knowledgeable fellow who seemed amused with my child like questions about our 26.2 miles journey we were about to embark on. As we arrived into Hopkinton a small woodsy town with tree’s lined up on both sides of the road. The sheer mass of 20,000 runners packed on the green field was astounding. They separated us into two waves. I met up with Dustin and Clyde and Logan fielding another st.george runner. Lines packed 100-200 deep on the porta potties. Seemed like the time went by real fast. 11:30 came and we walked at a steady pace to our starting positions. I wanted to stay with my group most of the 26.2 miles. The crowds massed on both sides of the street cheering us along every step of the way. They say over half million people lined the streets this day to cheer us down the road. Children lined up to get a simple high five from the runners. Sometime 7 to 10 deep. The people make you feel like a rock star. Runners who tagged their name on there arms would have their names chanted almost every passing step. I put my sons names on my arms. People on the left were yelling way to go Cody, and on the right way to go Jacob as I passed. The weather was perfect? Partly cloudy. The wind was blowing but it did not appear to affect the runners. In front of me was a mass of runners. Like a stampede of wild animals with no end or beginning in sight. I kept a 3-hour pace up to about the 15th mile. Then things started acting differently, my legs felt weak and the world around me started spinning. I had to slow down. But I managed to hold on to the finish. Boston is the ultimate marathon experience. Some day I will go back and run a better race. For now. I will cherish the memories and experience gained long after my running legs have give out. |

| I introduced my self to my fast twitch muscles last night at the Dixie high school track. Did 10 x 220. I Ran almost full speed for 220 then slow jogged 220. I had trouble getting out of bed this morning only got in 3. Glad I went out. My left foot arch is sore. Will need to ice it down. |

Last mile was a little long. I felt like I could of pushed it harder, but my foot was giving me all types of problems. Ended up getting $30 gift certificate. 1st in my division 2an in masters division 13th over all. |

| I went and visited the doctor regarding my foot. As I arrived the receptionist simply said might I have your insurance card and fill out this book. No hello! What do you want? After all the paper work the nurse escorted me back to the room. Took the usual vitals and left me stranded in the office looking at the walls. A few minutes later the X ray tech came in. she escorted me and took X rays. After she was done, I asked her why I did not need to ware one of those heavy jackets. Her reply was oops! Now back at the room looking at the walls, the doctor comes in, and tells me it looks like a stress fracture of the middle Meta carpel. And that I would have to ware this boot cast for 5 weeks. I gasped and said in denial, can I run in that? He paused and smiled, then replied, sure. My daughter and your money will be going to BYU in the fall. |

I got into the elevator, pushed the button to go to the bottom floor as the doors closed the elevator had become stuck. here I was standing in a frozen elevator in a locked up building. that would not be open for two days. thirsty dripping in sweat. I peered down at the buttons on the panel and noticed a call button that connected to some sweet lady. It took a long half hour but the fire department showed up. |

| Today Clyde and I went up to Steve’s home. We met Dustin at Steves place. On the way up Clyde and I were amazed at how many people were running the marathon course. We must have seen around thirty men, woman and children all dodging speeding cars. When we got to Steves place he had an adventure all mapped out. A rumble in the jungle! A dog eat dog path. As we were running, I could almost hear the faint sound of banjos echoing through the distant canyons. Childhood songs of “over the river and through the woods to grandmother house we go” came to mind. All was well until mile ten and Clyde put on the after burners. In the end Steve cooked up a great breakfast. I felt relieved that I was able to run that far. I met my goal of 42 miles this week. iam shooting for 50 next week. will try and do two a days at least twice next week. |

| I ran my old path this morning. The moon was full and fleeing the morning sun. I decided to be bold and wear the red body shirt. Have you ever seen a 40 year old in a body shirt? Makes you want to run!! (run away that is) I started out slow and picked up the pace. I really enjoy running in the morning. I feel I get a better work out because it is not so hot. Trying to train my mind to concentrate on my breathing and keep those negative thoughts that want me to slow down at bay. RAN ANOTHER 4 TONIGHT. CALFS GOT CRAMPS. HAD TO STOP. TOOK POTASIUM PILLS TONIGHT. |

| I started out around 8:30. all decked out and no one to run with. so I took the lonley trail by the virgin river and ended up running some of the painters half marathon route. My lower abs are very sore. takes me almost a mile of running to losen up. I could also tell that i had not ate properly because my energy level was way down. I need come to reality and realize that not eating right affects my training and performance. |

| July 24th started out being a fine day. Went running with Steve and Clyde and Dustin up near Steve’s place. Steve had this 17-mile trail all mapped out. our adventure began at the base of a mountain in pine valley. We were all decked out with camel packs and power bars. The trail looked simple on paper, I thought Steve must have got the map from Daniel Boons training guide for marathoners. About ten yards into the trail we ran into one-way Willy and his dog Ralph. Willy was all packed for a three-day hike on the same trail we were about to tackle in a couple of hours. The trail was steep and full of deadly ankle breaking rocks. A challenge that even mighty Brigham Young may of declined. The views of the valley floor were spectacular. About 6 miles into our 17 mile tour we decided as a group we better turn back because the trail did not appear to be getting much better. So we took our rag tagged war torn legs back down the trail. I gave my usual donation of blood sweat and tears to this happy trail falling down a record 5 times. We met up with one-way Willy who briefly told us that if we would of kept going the trail would of gotten even worse. At the end of the run we were able to get into a nice cold creek. or "Crick" if your from Pine valley. |

| only did 3 this morning. Thursday night is club night here in St.George. Met up with Clyde at the park. As I approached he looked like a young Sigmund Freud with his goatee. I think he asked me how my mother was doing. Steve came a few minutes later. And I guess Dustin had a day up at Zion Park running through the narrows dodging flash floods all day. Steve, Clyde and my self pushed forward into the night for a 9-mile tour. Steve and Clyde were rambling about their favorite barney show while I was gasping for air and wondering where I could find an oxygen machine. I feel like I run like a rental truck. The kind that has the sticker on the dashboard stating not to exceed 45 mph. I am getting worried about Steve. Every time we run, he is getting some strange cat calls from non female fans in trucks. We may have to start calling him “pretty boy Steve.” I finally caught back up with them around mile 8. Glided our way back to the park. |

| I went to the gym at 4:30 and decided to do a few miles on the treadmill. As I began, I noticed some sweet old lady next to me running at a nice 8 min mile pace. I smiled as I cranked it up to 9 mph. She bellowed out like a dragon on roids “hey sunny lets get it on.” I glanced over with utter shock. Then I said “ bring it” she cranked it up to 9.5 mph, and I cranked it up to 10 mph. She looked like she was going to loose her dentures. I briefly held on to the side rails and she screamed, “that’s cheating sunny.” She cranked it up another notch to 10.5. I am use to being last on the club but there is no way in heck I am going to let this lady on the other side of 50 show me up. I cranked it up to 11. I thought there is no way she can maintain this pace for long. To my surprise she kept it up for almost a mile. After my victory lap on the treadmill. She left with a smile and I left with the feeling that father time is trying to catch me. I got up this morning looked in the mirror and saw my buzzed head. I got this army hair cut saturday. I am hoping it will help me take 30 seconds off my mile. Calf still a little sore. it does feel better then saturday. ran 11 tonight. |

Or if I worked at the hospital I would say, “ you can’t get blood out of a turnip.” Or if I was a geography teacher I would say don’t buy beachfront property in Montana. | ran down hobble creek. i woke up at 6 am and drove from salt lake to mapleton cought the last bus 6:45. It was a awsome site. lots of good runners. among them was are team. the st.george runing club. Clyde,Dustin,Steve. It Was a good race. I knew i could not run at full race pace. But i felt like i could at least use the race for a training run. My left calf really bugged me from the first step. I figured it was fitting since the race is called HOBBLE creek half. going to salt lake for a couple of days. i have a work conference. |

I was running along 100 so by the under pass near 1000 e. poor thing zipped in front of A car. the poor guy was flopping around on the ground until another car ran him over (the poor thing.) to make things worse i almost ran him over going home from work. Steve was having some issues with his shoes and legs. We fell way behind Clyde and Dustin. By the time Steve and i got going again,we were miles behind. Steve was not having a good day. So i ran on ahead and met up with clyde and dustin returning in the car about mile 12. I was feeling pretty good so i decided to have them pick me up on the way back. | Ran with a few friends and the company of 4,600 runners. People were screaming at me and trying to make me drink out of some cups. Occasionally I ran into some person who had a stick of Vaseline. I wonder what they wanted me to do with that? The first few miles were interesting. Someone biffed it right next to me and got trampled. Around mile 4 I ran over several road kills. Spots of blood and bone. I thought to my self. "Poor Clyde and Dustin, may they rest in piece." I was moving nice and felt good until Veyo hill. Then my right calf told me that I was a pain to carry, and it wanted to quit. The moon looked cool. Big and bright. I did not get my goal time, But there will be other marathons. I had a good time. I was glad to find Clyde and Dustin alive and well at the finish line. |

| Went "spinning" this morning for an hour. Good exercise and it gives my body a break from my running injuries. Decided to do some cross dressing. So I put on my be girly out fit and went running! (I ment cross training? Not cross-dressing.) I ran down to the rec center and glided on the elliptical machine for 45 minutes. Then I went into the Pilates class and showed of my flexibility. (Oh the pain.) My calf’s had a major heart attack. After my experience I ran back to work. Side note: chicks dig men who do Pilates. |

| Ran with the club. Brother Holt and Brother Behunin decided to see if they could kill an old man. We went up the dreaded main street hill up to the desert reserve and cut across the golf course. I began to get discomfort in the right calf on the trail. By the time we got to the golf course I had to slow down. I ended up walking back to my work about a mile. Iced the calf last night and messaged it. Feel a little better today. I am not going to run on it for a week and let it heal. |

| A new month has arrived. Woke up this morning and went spinning for an hour. What a trip dude. Totally awesome experience. Steve would say “sweet” Moving to the sounds of rock. Clyde would say “get a gun” I am still feeling sore. abs and feet, calf tight but getting better. I think my flexibility is getting better. I ran from main street and ran up the the Running center. felt a little sore at first. Calf. Ran up red cliff and up the switchback trail then back down to the recreation center to my Pilates class. I think this class is helping with my flexibility. I took some emer-gen-c last night to see if it helped me in recovery. I do not seem as sore today. |

| I started off at a pretty good pace. (6:30) around mile 6, my body was telling me to slow down. My hip flexors started hurting. It was dark and the moon had not yet come out. I was running on the side of the road when an unexpected pothole about ripped my right ankle off. (Oh the pain!) As I crossed the bridge and came up on the river to jump rocks, I slipped off the rock and went down into the cold wet water. I ran back sloshing and wiping the tears from my poor little red cheeks. |

| Today I was at the Motorcycle shop getting a few parts for the Bike and I beheld Clyde running down the road. I yelled at him and he kept going. | This morning I took my family to the annual turkey trot. My 16 year old son Cody gave me a good run. Feeling sore abs. legs. Tonight Steve called and we decided to get together and run a few with Clyde. We ran down to Pine view high school track and talked to Dave and his XC team. They were running a fund raiser for the XC Team running laps. I did ok the first 5 laps. After that I had to slow down. Steve and Clyde were flying. I Decided that i would have a better work out if i ran one lap at fast pace, then back off and wait for clyde and steve to come around again and pick it up. Felt good to get some speed work. I am very sore tonight. |

| I dashed out of work at 4 pm to go running with the club. Dave, Dustin, Steve all showed up ready to rumble. Clyde is coaching his wrestling team. We blasted off and headed up Diagonal street, down sunset then down behind the black mountain. The pace got faster about 3 miles into it and my hip flexors (back) were screaming for me to stop. ) Steve had me try a stretch. It helped a little. I had to stop twice and stretch. Dave was pushing the pace and Steve shot out with him. Dustin Did a U turn and towed me back to the park. When I got back to work I noticed I had a flat. My left Nike air zoom had lost its air. Not a good sign. That night I had a dream. I was talking to Dave and I asked him what was the secret of running fast. He held out his hand and said “grasshopper take the pebble from my hand. And just as I was about to grab the pebble, he sprinted away. |

If i step a certain way on it it hurts from the big toe through the top of the foot. After the first repeat my calf felt very sore. | I stepped out into the cold dark night to run but the cold chill persuaded me to head to the rec center and run a few on the treadmill. It was nice to be able to watch the Jazz game and get in some miles in the controlled warm environment. I had a good time setting the treadmill to 12 and flirting with eating the wall behind me. All went well and I am ready to run again. |

| I was going to do some mile repeats when Dustin called and invited me to run a few from the running center. around mile 3 i felt a pop in right calf. I had to stop, stretch. Ran like a duck all the way back to the store. Messsaged it and iced it last night. still sore this morning. |

| Ran on the treadmill 10 miles. I was watching Utah get beat by utah state. What an ending. warmed up mile 8 min pace. the first three miles. then came down to 6 min pace. held on to the end. the last 1/4 mile pushed the treadmill 05 incline and ran 5:45 pace. Not sure i could hold this kind of pace on the road. calf is feeling better all the time. made sure i streched and warmed down. I feel the difference today. |

Steve on the other hand shoves me to utter exhaustion. wore my new tights that I bought from the running center by Movies 8 on north bluff by resultz Gym. they work wonders. legs felt warm. Hip flexors were sore after the run. |

| I had a rendezvous with the road, just me, my blue tights and the dark night air. I Took it fairly easy most of the way. I tried to stretch my hip flexors by doing some cross over stuff Steve showed me. Calves were sore after the run. |

| Ran up telegragh road and over the freeway and into the desert reserve. I am going to the BYU game tonight so I will not run with the guys tonight. Legs felt real sore most of the way. I picked up the pace the last two miles and it seemed I was feeling a little better. When I got home I walked by the mirror and said "Mirror, Mirror on the wall who is the fastest runner in the Land!" Could it Be Dave, Dustin, or Steve, or even Clyde. | Due to the Holiday season I think I should change my fast running blog to fast running Blob. I am afraid to get on the scales. This morning I woke up and ran down river road. Discovered a wallet with some bank cards and Drivers License on the the bridge. "I said to my self Merry Christmas!" After I had Lunch and went to Vegas I decided to find the persons number and thank her for a wonderful day. Alright, I could not live with my self if I did such a thing. I called her and had her pick it up at mt work. I must of looked kind of suspicious running around town with some womans wallet. The run went ok. Nothing special. |
