I ran 8 miles with the BBK group. I was chicked by everybody today. Let this be a lesson in humility. We did hill repeats and then did a competitive relay with groups of 2 people. My partner was Michelle N. She was really pushing me. Maybe I shouldnt have run with them as I was thinking Id lay low and was brought to my knees. haha I need to learn how to recover quicker from my hard runs.

Went up to Daybreak and ran 7 with Danielle and Misty in the wind. It was nice going out, but it the wind made it a harder than I wanted to run today. I am wiped out!

I ran this beautiful Utah morning with the BBK group.  It was a little chilly but my legs felt a lot better today. Not 100% of charged but getting there. We did a 3 mile warm up, then we did a 3 mile tempo run, 2 mile tempo and then cooled down to make an even 10 miles.

Ran on the Parktrail with Misty.  Danielle was supposed to be there but didnt show up on time. I ran by myself for 4 miles then turned around and made it a .25 mile when I saw Danielle. She almost caught me. She was flying. She turned around to run with me and I was actually slower so I sped up a bit. I told her that she should just run like that in Moab. Just tell herself she's got to catch me and that Im just up around the corner. Sheesh, maybe I should do the same.

I went to Lehi with Misty and ran 8 miles starting at 7 am. I met back at the parking lot with Kelli, Mark(Huans), Liz, Christine (Misfit), Scott and Suzanne (Smooth). It was nice getting to finally meet them. I ran with Mark for about a mile and we ended up a bit by ourselves. We waited and then Scott grabbed me and I ran with Scott for 9 miles. On my 18th and 19th mile I tried doing a tempo pace and I ran a 5:58 for 18 in a headwind and 5:38 on mile 19 with a tailwind.  My pace overall was in the 7-low 8 range.

I ran the parktrail with Danielle and Misty today.  I went 7 miles with Danielle and then she ran the rest with misty while I sped up to a 6:30 pace for the last 1.5 miles. Ran a total of 8.5 miles. It was 20 Degrees and a nip in the air. This is Walter, Good day!

I ran 9 hard miles today with the BBK group. I had mixed emotions on whether I should run more hills today.  Maybe I shouldnt have. I had some back pain from stopping after running up a hill and will be doing the Ibuprofen thing today.

Ok I ran up in daybreak with Danielle and Misty. There was a slight breeze coming from the north which was very nippy. I was completely exhausted. Danielle was pushing a 7:19 pace on me at first and I wasnt ready for it. I am spent and wrent and my legs are lent. I dont know if that makes sense but just deal with it. This is Walter Brown, Good day!

I took James (fiddy) up to the race this morning which was a mistake! haha just kiddin James. James, Jon, Matt and I did a 2 mile watrmup and I felt really good on the warmup which isnt normal. I started the race a bit fast I think but James, Paul Pilkington, Tim and I stayed together for the first mile. 5:55 with some up hill.  The second mile James took off and Paul went after him. Tim and I stayed together. 5:17 with steep downhill. The third mile I got into a comfortable pace and James and Paul were still pulling away. 5:43. The 4th mile is preping us for the big hill to come and I didnt want to push it just yet. 5:54 with some rollers. The 5th mile is what I so famously like to call the bastard! It brings grown men like myself to our knees! I decided to push it. I had a thought in my head to push up the hills and downhills hard and use the flats for a break. Yeah right there is no flat in this race. 6:29 all up hill! Mile 6 was more up hill and then gave us a downhill break and thats when I caught Paul Pilkington but he dropped out of the race there I guess.  He's a great strong runner! 6:29 less steepness in that mile, but I was tired.  Mile 7 Ohhh mile 7! Just when you thought the bastard at mile 5 grabbed hold of your soul and sucked the life out of you, mile 7 was worse. I felt like I was going to go upside down at some point because the hill went straight up and I thought backwards a bit. lol 7:02 very hard! Mile 8 I had James in my sight on the hill and was gaining on him and then he was solid gone becuase we then make a turn and run downhill. 5:12 and I felt great! Mile 9 had a little woopdie doo in it that just nipped at my calves a bit but a continuation of down hill. 5:38. Mile 10 This last mile is where you would like to cut the course so bad! You see the finish line in the parking lot as your running up a hill but they make you run around the block first up a pretty good incline and then it drops you about your last 1/3 mile into the parking lot. I did a 6:16 on the last mile and took 2nd overall and Hey, I beat Trevor! Holy crap! not to get a big head, but he told me I could brag about a Trevor defeat! haha Im kidding Trevor, I dont need a humility leason on the next race. Just let me bask in this for a few weeks. lol  It was a great day today. Im looking forward to the half marathon in a couple of weeks. This is Walter Brown------Good Day!

P S I forgot to mention I did a 4 mile cool down with the boys. Since im 10 years older than most of them I think I can get away with calling them the boys.

Ran with the BBK group this morning and I thought we were going to do a speed workout on the track but they locked it up from us. Dont get me started on that issue! I think I got tricked into more hill repeats. Oh well. I did hill repeats and then a 1 min hard, 1 min light tempo run. then 2 half mile tempo runs with a sprint downhill back to the school. 7.2 miles total.

It was 37 which is a little more brisk than yesterday running in my boxers. lol Moab is in a few days so Im going to taper for it now.

I woke up with a bad headache from playing the fireman last night at my neighbors house. Misty and I were the first to respond as they were out to dinner and came home to a couple of neighbors with hoses draped across the street. The Fire department came after  I had it pretty contained to the garage, I didnt even think about electricity as I was barefoot standing in water spraying the garage walls. Ugg I got chewed out by the fire department for not listening to them but the homeowner and I were determined to try and do something before the fireman got there. It went into the garage wall and started up the next floor when they came and doused it. Wow, I guess he had a battery charger on and the battery blew up and it was flamable. I was up till 1:30.

So my run was 6 miles up at daybreak. I ran with Danielle and we did a nice slow pace to get my legs good for the race tomorrow in Moab.

Started this race not knowing at all how I was going to do. I wanted to beat last years time but it wasn't in me. I hit mile 1 in 5.19. Way to fast. I settled into a 5.35 for a few miles and couldn't handle that pace after 4. My legs were spent. I had nothing in em. My pace dropped to 5.50 or so and I just jogged it out to a 1:17.50 almost 3 minutes slower than last year. I did pass 5 or so runners in the last 3 miles to put me into 13th overall and 1st in age group. It was a lot warmer this year and I saw a lot of friends at the start and finish. It really is great to get to know new bloggees. I forgot to mention that my buddy had his daughters dressed up as Santa Claus at mile 11 just like the movie St. Ralph when Santa appeared at the end of Boston marathon. It was awesome. They were yelling to me "you can do it Walter. It will be a miracle!" it gave me that boost I needed.

I ran with the BBK group this morning early on and did 10.5 miles with some faster paced tempo runs on the last 2 miles. My legs are feeling it. I should be recovered by tomorrow if I can think young thoughts. I  have the same body as I did in high school why can I not be as fast? lol

Hey Now, I went down to 123rd and ran part of the marathon course with Misty, and Kelli. Danielle was supposed to meet but woke up late. We did a pretty good pace, I was tired and got to see some of the course and the couple of hills that we will be running saturday. Its a pretty good course. Not as scenic as Moab but what did you expect? Hey Now.

I drove up to daybreak and ran 6 easy paced miles with Danielle while Misty and Charity did there 4+ miles. It was cold at the start but I warmed up good. I had to put the .15 in my miles in case Im close to beating the next person in line for weekly mileage. I didnt cheat mind you, it was indeed .15 over! I dont feel guilty for it as sometimes I forget to stop my watch and drive home and rack up a 10 miler. That would be cheating. Thats something thats not tolerated in my book. Although there isnt anyone policing this website, I may find a way to be able to. That would thin us slackers out pretty darn quick. Maybe I can come up with a chip that you insert into your body to keep an eye out on the competition. I wonder how I could do it? Drug them at the finish line and do it. Oh that reminds me of a practical joke that I thought of at the starting line at moab. I put viagra in the water at the aid stations. Would that slow down my competition, or would it make them faster? hmmmm

I may be having a A.D.D. moment here. You can see how my mind works now from my blog today.

It was a brisk windy morning today. I waited up till 5 min. to the start and shed everything down to my shorts and singlet. I was freezing!  I started really fast for about the first .25 mile and no one was around me at all so I slowed my pace down to what I thought was a 6 min. pace but my first mile was 5:23.  I didnt panic because I had a slight decline with a brisk tailwind. 2nd mile was 5:29. 3rd had some hill and firts headwind run 6:02. 4th got down to the trail in the wind 5:43. 5th All head wind. 5:51. 6th Same, headwind with a steep hill. 6:24 7th headwind, 6:03. 8th headwind 6:11 had Scott and his kids cheering me on.  9th Finally had some tail wind. 5:41. 10th had a steep .1 mile hill kill that was straight up but quick.  6:09 Mile 11 was trying to pick up my pace, I had my kids cheer me on at that point. 5:46. 12th mile had a short half mile of headwind and then the downhill started to the finish. 5:40. 13th mile was mostly downhill with a tailwind nice! 5:32  My performance was pretty strong, no one to push me so Im sure my times showed for it although last week I had plenty of guys to push me and couldnt muster some solid speed in that race.  Tyler came in behind me for a 2nd place finish and we won some gifts from Wasatch Running Center and a trophy. It was very windy and cold. Kelli (Tylers wife) gave me a blanket which was so nice of her! I felt bad hogging it up but they made us park our cars in a differant location than the finish so it was impossible to get my warm clothes on. Thaks Kelli! It was a fun run and good to see everyone have some fun out there! Now I have to recovery like a High School athlete for next weeks half marathon.

I went down to Bingham High Shcool and met up with the bbk group. we did about 3.5 or more warm up and then got on the new track. We did a progressive 800 meter run and then we did a 1200, 800, and 400 with a 400 rest in between. I Then did 3 more laps of sort of cool down and then called it good. The rest were still going to do more but I have a race on Saturday and dont want to be beat down too much for it. My legs were stinging a bit. It felt good to get out on the track.
