Wow, what a draining week I had! On New Years Eve morning my father had a mild heart attack I was woken up at 2 am to my whole family trying to get a hold of me. I really hate my phone ringing at that hour. It only means one thing, and it always is bad news. Ive never had anyone call me at that hour to tell me I won the lottery or that there was a mistake in Boston Marathon and everyone up to me was disqualified so I won, or something with good news like that! My dad is fine and back at home. He was smart enough to know the symptoms from family history of strokes and attacks. I spent the week up in Lewiston, Utah just north of Logan and it was freakin' cold up there. I did enjoy the Utes kickin' the crap out of a goliath team that came into the Sugar Bowl way over confident. GO UTES! GO MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERANCE! Always a good day when you can make a mockery of the BCS! ha! My miles last week were meak and for sure weak. I will make up for it next week. Its go time! Boston will be here before I know it!

| Got up and went down to the park trail and ran with Danielle and Misty. It was trampled down quite a bit but still sucked to run on. We went south and ran as far as the trail went and then up into the subdivision until we hit 3 miles. Then back. The wind was brutal and felt better when it was at our backs. Its frickin freezing mr. bigglesworth!
Ok I went to the capitol rotunda and braved sub freezing temps with my daughters to see David Archuleta sing the national anthem for the inauguration of our government officials. I got to meet David and say a few words to him. My youngest got a pic with him. We were sitting so close to President Thomas Monson that I could have talked to him if it wasnt so formal. It was good to see him. After the festivites my daughters were interviewed by Des newspaper and it was cute. They had no idea what was going on besides David sang! lol My Bailey was on the news and described the event as "David is an awesome singer!" they then asked Brookie (12) what was going on and she said " you got a new governor?" lol Nothing like destroying the Brown family name! haha. It was fun despite the bitterness of being outside. Governor Huntsman saved $150,000 dollars by having it outside! Can you freakin believe that? He also claimed today as Utah Utes Day! Awesome! |

| Got up pretty early and met with the bbk runners. We did 8.3 miles and one of the runners (the lady with the dog) took a spill and since i was behind her I followed suit and tripped over her and her dog. I caught myself with my hands so I was fine but she seamed to be hurt so Peggy ran back to the vehicle with her. What a nice gal Peggy is! We had a few new runners there, one was Emily from my neighborhood and another was Kimberly from Minnesota who is looking for a group to run with. It was good talking to them and getting to know them. the trail was plowed from 98th to 104th which was nice. |

| Went to the Olympic Oval this morning right at 5:30 and did my very boring but not as boring as a treadmill run! I ran 26 laps which equals near 7.25 miles. Each lap is 480 yards long or maybe its 440 yards. I know its 40 yards longer than a normal track. So 10 laps is adding an extra .25 mile or something like that. Its confusing but so is my thinking. |

Im impressed with eveyones talent. I think Scott should get most improved player of the group! I think I have a new nemesis. Ill get you! haha My watch is doing weird things again. Dang! I dont have the money to go buy another one. I should have bought one for Christmas! Or asked Santa at least! |

I ran starting at Gardner Villiage going south to 90th and then back all the way to 54th or so and then back to the parking lot. Ended up doing 10.5 miles and my Garmin is officially kaputt! Ran with Danielle for all of it and a little with Misty. |

Wow, what a warm morning we had today! I ran 6 miles with Charity, Misty, and Danielle. Met up at Daybreak and did a nice loop. several hills involved and felt pretty good till the last hill and I felt sick. So we kept it to 6 miles.
I did a1 hour spin class at 5 pm and it was brutal. It was the first time ive got on the bike since my operations, or as Paul puts it my sex change. I hurt on the right side a bit but I am feeling good. I am going to be phenomenal you'll see! Just keep the crap out of my way! Oh wow, Im not sure where that anger came from. Could I really be changing?

I made it to mile 3 and was crossing under the bridge at 104th which had standing frozen water on it and i made it about half way and it broke on me. It was about 6-8 inches deep and went to my ankle and drenched my feet. I decided to go back to the parking lot and Danielle let me get in her vehicle to dry out while she kept running. Not fun! By the time I got back to the car my shoes were frozen stiff. My socks were like cardboard. To sum up, Inversion, broken Ice, 17 degrees, cant breathe, cant walk. Lovely day! |

| Not much sleep last night. I went to the movie Defiance which was a very good show! I hate changing the subject from running but the Holocaust is a subject that interests as well as bothers as well as humbles me. I have a relationship with Germans and Germany and its a period of time that fascinates me. Ok so not much sleep and started the run on 90th and 700 W. on the parktrail heading North. I ran with Danielle, Misty and Charity. By mile 9 it was raining on us pretty good for about 15 minutes and then stopped. I was very warm at first as I ran North for 7 miles. Coming back it got cold quicker with a head wind and rain that was similar to the St. George Marathon. De Ja Vu! Got to love it.

We ended up doing a gradual hill climb for about a half mile, and did that 4 times and then did 6 steep hill sprints for 30 seconds. She panicked and I was yelling at the dog and the owner didnt even do anything. He said its a lab, it wont hurt you. In the dark it looked like a bear so it didnt matter to me what kind of dog it was, it charged me and thats all that mattered. We had a yelling session in the road and I finally left. | I started the race circuit today by running the 5k. It was a bit cold but nothing to keep me from wearing shorts and a singlet. I warmed up 2 miles with Jon and Cody and then started the race. There was a ringer in there that started the race on fire! I forget his name but he was on his own from the get go. Cody and Tim, Jon and I were in a 2x2 group and by the first half mile, my legs started burning. I tried to push my pace a bit and stay with Cody and Tim. After the first mile Nathan and Jeff passed me and looked pretty good. I hit the big hill and caught Nathan and then we had the downhill and I passed Jeff and got close to Tim again. Then there was an up hill again that I had forgot about and it kicked my butt. I got passed by Nathan and Jeff. I waited for the downhill to try to push but by then I had a good 100 feet to make up. Didnt happen. It was icy on all the turns and a bit scary but held on to a 6th place finish and That puts me 3rd in the series if the winner of todays race decides not do do all 5 races. Cody kicked some major butt today! He beat me by 35 seconds! That is great for an early year race like that. I did a cool down run with Tim Cody, Jon and Nathan and Jeff. |

| Picked up James and went up to Weber college and did a warmup with Jon and Cody. It was around 23 degrees according to my car and I forgot my hat and gloves. The race started fine, we were in a group and then James took a good lead and I stuck behind Cody and Tim. I think I was about 8th then. I was breathing extremely hard and found it difficult to relax. I made it to the 3rd mile just behind Cody and Tim. Every little hill we hit I found myself drifting back. That frustrated me, but I wanted to see how Cody would run up mile 5 hill "the bastard" I saw Tim starting to drift from him a bit but didnt think Id even catch him. It got real steep and I started getting closer to Tim and he was having a hard time up it and I passed him. I could hear him on my heals and managed to stay ahead. I saw another runner who I started to catch on the hill also and as soon as it hit the top he flew down the back part and I couldnt catch him. We then got some sunshine which felt like an angel pissing on me. It was awesome. Im not into that sort of weird stuff by the way. Just to clear that up. | Ran with the BBK group and tried keeping up with them. I was afraid of doing too many speed workouts this week so I held back and then decided to do one mile of hard tempo work. I have Del Sol Relay tomorrow so if my blackberry doesnt work on getting my miles logged in then Ill have to wait to report the rest of my wicked boring life later. |

| I am the 12th runner on the team and I ran 1 mile warmup with misty and 1 mile alone. Then I did the first leg in the dusk till dark. 60 degrees and a slight breeze. Nice conditions. I averaged 7 miles with a 548 pace. 5of the miles were on loose sandy terrain and I couldn't get myself to move. When I hit the highway I felt like I could fly. |

I ran 3 miles with misty at 3 AM I was startled by a snake. I then ran my second leg of 7.8 miles. Just after one mile to go I made a wrong turn and went .6 out and back to make my run an even 9. I lost us some time but my average pace for this run was 5:38. It was a gradual downhill that helped me push my pace better.
My last leg I ran 1.5 with Misty and then ran my 3.9 leg at a 5:35 pace in 82 degree weather. It was extremely difficult to run on pavement. It was real Balmy. It was a very fun and exhausting race. The course was changed quite a bit from last year and had alot more trail in it. |

My partner was Michelle N. She was really pushing me. Maybe I shouldnt have run with them as I was thinking Id lay low and was brought to my knees. haha I need to learn how to recover quicker from my hard runs. |

I ran this beautiful Utah morning with the BBK group. It was a little chilly but my legs felt a lot better today. Not 100% of charged but getting there. We did a 3 mile warm up, then we did a 3 mile tempo run, 2 mile tempo and then cooled down to make an even 10 miles.

| Ran on the Parktrail with Misty. Danielle was supposed to be there but didnt show up on time. I ran by myself for 4 miles then turned around and made it a .25 mile when I saw Danielle. She almost caught me. She was flying. She turned around to run with me and I was actually slower so I sped up a bit. I told her that she should just run like that in Moab. Just tell herself she's got to catch me and that Im just up around the corner. Sheesh, maybe I should do the same. |

It was nice getting to finally meet them. I ran with Mark for about a mile and we ended up a bit by ourselves. We waited and then Scott grabbed me and I ran with Scott for 9 miles. On my 18th and 19th mile I tried doing a tempo pace and I ran a 5:58 for 18 in a headwind and 5:38 on mile 19 with a tailwind. My pace overall was in the 7-low 8 range. |

I took James (fiddy) up to the race this morning which was a mistake! haha just kiddin James. James, Jon, Matt and I did a 2 mile watrmup and I felt really good on the warmup which isnt normal. I started the race a bit fast I think but James, Paul Pilkington, Tim and I stayed together for the first mile. 5:55 with some up hill. The second mile James took off and Paul went after him. Tim and I stayed together. 5:17 with steep downhill. The third mile I got into a comfortable pace and James and Paul were still pulling away. 5:43. The 4th mile is preping us for the big hill to come and I didnt want to push it just yet. 5:54 with some rollers. The 5th mile is what I so famously like to call the bastard! It brings grown men like myself to our knees! I decided to push it. I had a thought in my head to push up the hills and downhills hard and use the flats for a break. Yeah right there is no flat in this race. 6:29 all up hill! Mile 6 was more up hill and then gave us a downhill break and thats when I caught Paul Pilkington but he dropped out of the race there I guess. He's a great strong runner! 6:29 less steepness in that mile, but I was tired. Mile 7 Ohhh mile 7! Just when you thought the bastard at mile 5 grabbed hold of your soul and sucked the life out of you, mile 7 was worse. I felt like I was going to go upside down at some point because the hill went straight up and I thought backwards a bit. lol 7:02 very hard! Mile 8 I had James in my sight on the hill and was gaining on him and then he was solid gone becuase we then make a turn and run downhill. 5:12 and I felt great! Mile 9 had a little woopdie doo in it that just nipped at my calves a bit but a continuation of down hill. 5:38. Mile 10 This last mile is where you would like to cut the course so bad! You see the finish line in the parking lot as your running up a hill but they make you run around the block first up a pretty good incline and then it drops you about your last 1/3 mile into the parking lot. I did a 6:16 on the last mile and took 2nd overall and Hey, I beat Trevor! Holy crap! not to get a big head, but he told me I could brag about a Trevor defeat! haha Im kidding Trevor, I dont need a humility leason on the next race. Just let me bask in this for a few weeks. lol It was a great day today. Im looking forward to the half marathon in a couple of weeks. This is Walter Brown------Good Day! P S I forgot to mention I did a 4 mile cool down with the boys. Since im 10 years older than most of them I think I can get away with calling them the boys.

I think I got tricked into more hill repeats. Oh well. I did hill repeats and then a 1 min hard, 1 min light tempo run. then 2 half mile tempo runs with a sprint downhill back to the school. 7.2 miles total.

| I woke up with a bad headache from playing the fireman last night at my neighbors house. Misty and I were the first to respond as they were out to dinner and came home to a couple of neighbors with hoses draped across the street. The Fire department came after I had it pretty contained to the garage, I didnt even think about electricity as I was barefoot standing in water spraying the garage walls. Ugg I got chewed out by the fire department for not listening to them but the homeowner and I were determined to try and do something before the fireman got there. It went into the garage wall and started up the next floor when they came and doused it. Wow, I guess he had a battery charger on and the battery blew up and it was flamable. I was up till 1:30. So my run was 6 miles up at daybreak. I ran with Danielle and we did a nice slow pace to get my legs good for the race tomorrow in Moab.

Started this race not knowing at all how I was going to do. I wanted to beat last years time but it wasn't in me. I hit mile 1 in 5.19. Way to fast. I settled into a 5.35 for a few miles and couldn't handle that pace after 4. My legs were spent. I had nothing in em. My pace dropped to 5.50 or so and I just jogged it out to a 1:17.50 almost 3 minutes slower than last year. I did pass 5 or so runners in the last 3 miles to put me into 13th overall and 1st in age group. It was a lot warmer this year and I saw a lot of friends at the start and finish. It really is great to get to know new bloggees. I forgot to mention that my buddy had his daughters dressed up as Santa Claus at mile 11 just like the movie St. Ralph when Santa appeared at the end of Boston marathon. It was awesome. They were yelling to me "you can do it Walter. It will be a miracle!" it gave me that boost I needed.

| I drove up to daybreak and ran 6 easy paced miles with Danielle while Misty and Charity did there 4+ miles. It was cold at the start but I warmed up good. I had to put the .15 in my miles in case Im close to beating the next person in line for weekly mileage. I didnt cheat mind you, it was indeed .15 over! I dont feel guilty for it as sometimes I forget to stop my watch and drive home and rack up a 10 miler. That would be cheating. Thats something thats not tolerated in my book. Although there isnt anyone policing this website, I may find a way to be able to. That would thin us slackers out pretty darn quick. Maybe I can come up with a chip that you insert into your body to keep an eye out on the competition. I wonder how I could do it? Drug them at the finish line and do it. Oh that reminds me of a practical joke that I thought of at the starting line at moab. I put viagra in the water at the aid stations. Would that slow down my competition, or would it make them faster? hmmmm I may be having a A.D.D. moment here. You can see how my mind works now from my blog today. |

| It was a brisk windy morning today. I waited up till 5 min. to the start and shed everything down to my shorts and singlet. I was freezing! I started really fast for about the first .25 mile and no one was around me at all so I slowed my pace down to what I thought was a 6 min. pace but my first mile was 5:23. I didnt panic because I had a slight decline with a brisk tailwind. 2nd mile was 5:29. 3rd had some hill and firts headwind run 6:02. 4th got down to the trail in the wind 5:43. 5th All head wind. 5:51. 6th Same, headwind with a steep hill. 6:24 7th headwind, 6:03. 8th headwind 6:11 had Scott and his kids cheering me on. 9th Finally had some tail wind. 5:41. 10th had a steep .1 mile hill kill that was straight up but quick. 6:09 Mile 11 was trying to pick up my pace, I had my kids cheer me on at that point. 5:46. 12th mile had a short half mile of headwind and then the downhill started to the finish. 5:40. 13th mile was mostly downhill with a tailwind nice! 5:32 My performance was pretty strong, no one to push me so Im sure my times showed for it although last week I had plenty of guys to push me and couldnt muster some solid speed in that race. Tyler came in behind me for a 2nd place finish and we won some gifts from Wasatch Running Center and a trophy. It was very windy and cold. Kelli (Tylers wife) gave me a blanket which was so nice of her! I felt bad hogging it up but they made us park our cars in a differant location than the finish so it was impossible to get my warm clothes on. Thaks Kelli! It was a fun run and good to see everyone have some fun out there! Now I have to recovery like a High School athlete for next weeks half marathon. |

| Ok I woke up to a snow storm and that put me in a foul mood. I drove up to the Moose lodge in Eden by Pineview reservoir. I was extremely late and missed the busses. I grabbed my number and drove to the start and Misty and the girls drove back to mile 4. I barely had enough time to go to the bathroom and run to the start. I hate stressed out runs like that. I wasnt feeling good from the start. Im not trying to use any excuses. I did save some gas from the previous weeks to try and make a good showing today but it wasnt in me. I felt good to mile 4 and then we were out of the canyon and the headwind started to pick up mildly. Tim passed me at mile 5 and had alot of power as he passed me. I tried as hard as I could to keep him from fading away. At mile 8 or so I passed James and that gave me a little umph but it was brutal from then. A severe headwind with snow flurries and I felt like I was running in place. I could actually feel the wind pushing me when my foot released from the ground. Yuck! I tried to run hard but my times suffered severly. Tim made a good show today and gained time back on what little lead I had on him. Our last race is on the 25th and is a 30K.
My times were: 1: 5:31 That is 12 seconds slower than Moabs start and 7 slower than last week. 2: 5:38 still going down a canyon to help keep the pace. 3: 5:47 I felt good here and wanted to try to keep my time at this pace. 4: 5:39 Was pleased to keep the pace and started to be out of the canyon at this point. 5: 38 This was a good mile and not much of head wind but it was present. 6: 5:45 I started feeling my legs getting tired here but was determined to not let my time get slower. 7: 5:49 not bad started getting hit with some gusts of wind here. 8: 5:56 Dang! the wind was really bad at this point. 9: 6:07 gagged on a gu and felt it for almost a mile. But my body desperately needed it. we had headwinds and crosswinds as we zig zagged . 10: 5:56 Not bad considering i was in hell. 11: 6:32 This is where I was battling the God of wind Im not sure the name for sure but i know he got the point from my words to him. 12: 6:23 a few turns helped the wind subside. 13: 6:24 in the home stretch. 13.1: 1:17:41  11 seconds slower than last week.
Im glad its over!

I had a good rest on saturday night. I slept in and got 9 hours of sleep. This morning I only got 6. I need to try to stay in the 7-8 range if I can. I went to the park trail at 98th and ran with Danielle while Misty and Charity ran together. I put in 8 miles total and didnt feel good on the last 2 miles. I felt sick and my legs were stiff from Saturdays run. Id like to try and do some speed workout tonight if I can. I will see.
This evening I went to a spin class and then did 2-10 minute tempo runs on the treadmill with a 5 minute rest in between. The first tempo run I did the first 5 minutes at a 6 min./mile pace. Then did the other 5 minutes in a 5:42/mile pace. After the 5 minute break I did the first 5 min. with a 5:27 pace. the second 5 minutes was at a 5:12 pace. Then I did a five minute cool down. It ended up being 4 miles. |

It was constantly raining on us. Yes Im soaked! I was hoping to run a 5:45 pace on the third 5k but couldnt manage it. I probably had 5 extra pounds of water I was carrying. I started going north and made it just over a half mile when I came upon a couple skunks. I slowed down thinking they would run off in the brush but the closer I got the more the started posturing to spray me. I stopped when I saw them lift their tails and turned around and ran as I heard them spray. haha They missed me this time! thank goodness so I went south on the trail till it hit the neighborhood in Parkway Palisades. I went up into the neighborhood and then back to the trail to where I parked. I saw a Pelican close to 104th so. in the Jordan river. It was pretty cool. Dont see that too often! |

I went off on my own the last 3 miles of my 10. It was pretty nice weather out and started to trickle rain a bit. I say bring it. If its not going to stop, bring it! It makes out of state races that much better. |

| Went down to Bingham High School to run this morning and Lisa, Rachel, Scott, Kelli ran with me and we did 3.5 miles or so. Then Cheryl, Nancy, and Alan ran the remaining miles with me. I dont feel so good today. I couldnt get my legs to move. I ran a nice comfortable pace the entire time. I ended up going a total of 9 miles. I wish all those runners going to Boston the best of luck. Have fun, be careful and try to find some sun.

| Went to the Legacy Bridge with Danielle and Dan who dropped us off at the start. No stress at all. I didnt see Kelli And Rachel before the race so I concentrated on helping Danielle. The start was extremely slow and we hit a 8:30 mile for the first and then the crowd thinned out enough to get going. We started hitting 7:30's and 7:15s for up to the 4th mile. They changed the course a bit so you miss the big steep hill coming down. At the turn around I concentrated on finding Kelli and Rachel. They werent ahead of me. After a 1/4 mile I found Kelli behind me. She caught us by mile 6 I believe and was looking great. She had started late and was going off her chip time. At mile 7 Danielle started to fade a bit and I was worried I was being to hard on her. So I told her Id run for 2 miles hard and turn around and come back and get her for the last 3 miles. I did a 5:15 pace for mile 8-9. I caught up to Kelli and she was slowing down a bit. I helped push her pace back up and help her out with her spirits. I saw Rachel behind Danielle when I did a potty break and ran with her a bit and by the time I was at 10 and turned around to come back to Danielle, she had passed her and had pretty good lead. I found Danielle and she was exhausted. I tried cheering her up and I really pushed her hard because she slowed down quite a bit. We caught Rachel and passed her but were just ahead of her. Then came an incline hill that crippled her and she had to walk. After the hill, I pushed Danielle and she brought her last mile and a half to a really good pace. I saw that we wouldnt make a 1:40 so I just kept pushing her. I had her at a 7 minute pace on the last half mile and we cruised into a 1:43 time. Very good weather conditions and good friends and fun! |

Our first 4 miles were up hill with some steep hill climbs. Our last 3 or so were downhill to push our pace to a 6:49 the last 3. We ran a total of 10 miles and it was a nice morning. Met up with Michelle, Rachelle, Kelli, Lisa, and whoever the heck was there in the dark and did a 3 mile warm up then I did 2x3 mile marathon tempo paced runs. The first tempo was actually slower than marathon. About a 6:35 pace. My IT band was hurting this morning when I was running slower. When I sped up it was better for me. Made it 10.25 miles |

| It was another interesting day in Eden today! I took James up to the start of the 30k race and it started to rain pretty hard right at the start. I told James that I wanted to run a 5:45-5:50 pace and he thought that he could do it. We started our first mile in 6:10. Then the second mile we hit a 5:39 to bring it closer to a 5:50 pace. James started to feel horrible from a IT band or something and couldnt go on . So I found myself all alone. I tried to keep that 5:50 pace and this is how it went. 1: 6:10, 2: 5:39, 3: 5:45, 4: 5:52, 5: 5:50, 6: 5:55, 7: 6:04, 8: 6:06, 9: 5:56, 10: 5:58, 11:5:47, 12: 5:54, 13: 5:56, 14: 5:57, 15: 6:11, 16:6:12, 17: 6:09, 18: 6:18, .6: 3:58. There was a head wind blowing the entire way in both directions. I couldnt believe it but thats the way it went. I held on to win it and complete the 5 race series with an overall win. They told me its a course record but I believe Paul ran a faster 30k a few years ago. They may have changed the course so Ill take it! Sorry Paul win some lose some. lol |

I really would like to know when we will warm up. Ill try to run more later today. At least I ran this morning and got 6 in. I was ready to throw my head back on the pillow.
Ok, I went back out and did another 9 from my house up to Daybreak and around again! The wind was even worse.

I met Danielle up at Daybreak this morning and we ran 12 miles around the area in two different loops. We were running a 8:30 pace and the weather trickled a bit on us. The wind picked up about 7:30 and we ran from 6 am to 7:50. Then I loaded up the family and went to Jordan landing for the 5k and 10k and 1 mile kids race. I was planning on running the 10k and 5k but it was raining and people were late so they started the 5k only 15 minutes after. I saw some familiar faces. I saw Mark (huans32) there and talked to him and his new bride christy. I also saw Nancy from the BBK group and her daughter. By the time our race started it started to pour. It was really coming down! Our race was nice, there were the usual quick high schoolers there to push the pace early. I did a 5:04 first mile and I believe it was mismarked. If it wasnt, i wouldve pr'd for sure running that fast. There wasnt a 2nd mile marker and I had a pretty good lead on the 2nd place runner. My garmin is lost so i used my cheapo timex watch and forgot to stop the time so I guessed a modest time, it couldve been faster. I won the overall and I think Mark took 2nd in his age. Good job! I love local races. they are so fun! My oldest daughter got 2nd in her age and 2nd oldest daughter took 3rd in age. Misty took 6th in her age. I then took Bailey 7 to the start line and ran the mile kids run. She took off way fast (like her father) I had to yell for her to slow down and she did and i explained that the kids that were way ahead of her would get tired and walk. After the 1/2 mile I was right and my 7 year old was passing 10 -12 year olds that were walking. I showed her how starting a little slower will help her finish stronger. She took 1st for the girls which she had a girl sprint by her in the last 100 yards and Bailey picked it up and beat her. haha It was cute. I won a Trophy and the person on it is a girl so I gave it to Bailey.

| I woke up at an insane early hour this morning and went to the start line of the Marathon. It was 28 degrees. I had a singlet on and shorts. I started the race out fast but comfortable because of the cold. Mile 1:5.15, 2: 5.45, 3: 5.39, 4: 5.39, 5: 5.39, 6: 5.40, 7: 5.45, 8: 5.49, 9: 5.59, 10: 5.53, 11: 6.09, 12: 6.04, 13: 6.07, 14: 5.56, 15: 6.35, 16: 7.25, 17: 6.08, 18: 5.49, 19: 5.49, 20: 5.59, 21: ,6.26, 22: 6.27, 23: 5.53, 24: 6.38, 25: 6.47, 26: 7.27, 26.2: 3.01 I felt pretty good running this up till the hill at mile 14. I had to stop at mile 16 for a potti break that took me out of 3rd place to 5th place. When I came out of the porta potti, Tim had just passed and It took me a good .25 mile to catch him, we ran together for about a mile then I wanted to see if I could catch the 3rd place guy. I was working hard maybe to hard and i burned myself out by mile 20. I felt perfectly fine at mile 19 then mile 20 I was in a complete different state of mind. I was fatigued and was fighting every mile from then on. The park trail was frustrating as I was all by myself and had to yell to the slower half marathon walkers that took the entire path up. I really hate that. It didnt slow me down much, but did mess with my pshychy. I had to stop for a drink which by the way gagged me severly because it had a strong hose taste to it. even the powerade had the hose taste to me. I gagged every time i had to drink. that was really the only thing i could complain about. I enjoyed the weather, not much wind, and the Jamba Juice at the end.

Today I am in Logan and I ran with Cody and Paul on the Dry Creek trail. If you ask me there was nothing dry about it! It was a nice unpaved and ungroomed trail that kicked my butt. I felt real good for the first 7 or so miles as it went south of Logan to the canyon that the marathon comes out of. (Dont really no my canyons up here) It was very muddy in spots and I had to dodge cow pies and water puddles. We ended up with 13.5 miles. We ran a nice comfortable pace at first and then torqued it up at the end. Those hills at the end ripped my legs apart. I could feel the effects of the marathon in my legs and was completely worn out. I got to see Cody's new house which is 2 doors down from Jon's. How cool is that? Now they can see whos really running huh? lol Thanks Cody and Paul it was fun. |

| Went up to the start with Scott, Kory, and Jeff. We didnt have to wait long to start. I felt pretty good at the start we were pretty conservative. Kory was more conservative, he stayed back a bit. I ran a really good pace with Jeff Shadley and we were in 8th and 9th position. After 10 miles he started pulling me which i didnt mind, my goal was to push myself at all cost to stay with them and see what i could do. I made it to mile 13.1 in 1:17 which is what we were hoping for. I really had to find a porta potti after that and at mile 14 there was one. one of the volunteers were in it and i patiently and loudly waited. I got in and by the time i was out, Kory had passed with a good 200 meter lead. I then wanted to catch him and try running with him to catch Jeff but I think Kory heard my plan and took off! He is an amazing finisher! I found myself alone and tried sticking to pushing myself but with a flu that came on me on Wednesday and Ogden that i felt in my legs still I was doomed. At mile 18 I saw Steve Ashbaker and he had dropped out which put me in 9th place. Miles 20-23 were horrid and lonely and hard for me. I grinded it out and at mile 25 I was passed and then threw up for a few seconds and then pushed out and tried getting going again. Kelli Stephenson was running back my direction and picked me up and paced me the last mile in which is what i needed. I had to stop a couple of times, one was I thought i was going to hurl and the other I was dizzy! Made it in and I was really out of it for 5 minutes. I got my bearings back and everything was fine. Not my fastest race but a great forced run to add to my resume.

I aceshed a 5:06 mile for this 7.3 mile leg and had a best Jule of 4:14! I wished I could run that on a Track! |

Coming down was pretty painful in the backs of my knees and butt. I am still sore from saturdays pounding! I need a massage bad especially my IT band. Very sore! |

Went down to 98th with Misty and ran with Danielle on the park trail for 7 miles. I then went to my car to open it and stretch. I put the keys on the seat and the door shut on me which was no biggie. Then the doors locked! How the heck is that possible! I opened the doors with the key fob and after 30 seconds they automatically lock again. So I was locked out and Danielle had gone. Misty was still on the trail running so I ran back on the trail and told Misty I was going to run to Danielles house to see if she would give me a ride home to get the spare key. I ended up running another 1.5 miles and her brother took me home and back and we got the door opened which made us both late for work of course!
Ran later this evening on the Park trail from 7th west North. I saw Steve Ashbaker out and about.

Met with Emily and some of her friends up in Corner Canyon. We ran up a single track trail to about 6700 feet in 5 miles which felt like Ragnar but was only a 1700' climb in 5 miles where Ragnar is 3600 ' in 7 miles. Very steep. When we got to the top we could see Utah lake and Utah county as well as Salt lake! What an awesome site! Very cool. My legs were thrashed and i was tired from last nights late run. I will do more miles tonight. more to come...

| I am in Lewiston, Utah...Home of the famous 4th of July festivities. These farmers know how to party. I ran a 10k with approxiamately 50 total runners. They had a 1 mile and 5k also which was more popular. I started out fast of course with a 5:30 mile and then slowed my pace down when I was all alone. It was an out and back whichI I like to see where I am in the race. When I got to the 3.1 mile turn around, my brother in law was there with a water station and I saw that I was all alone so I stopped and drank the water and talked to him for a bit until I could see the second place guy. I then tried to get to a 6 min. pace but was suffering from a really bad head cold. I had to stop and do the old farmers blow to clean my nose out. lol I immediately could smell the manure from the farmers fields which I thought to myself why I did that. I got a mile in 5:50 and then a 5:48 and I think my last mile was a 5:38 but I forgot to stop my watch. I had fun and a local farmer actually got mad at me for running in it. He said i had no business being up here. Haha I told him for that Ill plan on next year. I set their course record its only been going for 3 years. They wanted to put me on a float afterwards for their Parade but I told them to just give me a rootbeer float and id be content with that. They gave me a medal and an Alveys Chocolate bar. yummy! I guess their first year they did this, they gave the winner a side of beef! I wouldnt mind that! Im off to enjoy the rest of the 4ths celebration. God Bless America! |

Ran on the Riverton High Track this morning with Emily and friends. They really dont have a name, but they have a girl named Staci that could match me stride for stride until I did the 400 meter repeats. I like to do them with less rest myself but it was nice to do a good paced speed workout. We did 200's, 400's and some 100's which I just couldnt get into myself. I ended up with 5 miles total with a 1.5 mile warmup. some of my 400 times were 1:10 and 1:08. I need to get more speed in my workouts.

| Ok here goes! At the start of the race I saw a lot of bloggers if I missed your name forgive me. I saw Josh and his wife, Ruth, Maryanne, Steve Hooper, Dave Holt, Mark and christy, Peggys husband ad peggy during the race. There were so many ive forgot who else but the start of the race sucked! There was a thick haze of smoke from a forest fire thats going on down here. The first mile was a gut check for me. I felt like there was no way I could hang with the main pack for even a mile. There was seven of them and then Dave and me. after a half mile or so Dave took off and caught the pack leaving me by myself 100 feet behind the pack. They were pushing the pace so I let them go. At mile 2 we had a severe drop for several miles which helped me get my legs back. Mile 1 was 5:40, 2 was 6:00 with a bit of up hill. Mile 3 was 4:49, 4 was 5:00, 5 was 5:01. I just pr'd a 5k time here! lol 3 miles in 15 minutes! Around miles 6.5 it started to level out and i passed 2 people putting me into 8th overall. At this point I could see Dave Holt about 200 meters ahead and every mile I gained on him to within 100 meters. My legs felt heavy once i had the real test of running and not falling. mile 6 was 5:15. Miles 7 was 5:19, mile 8 was 5:38. I started feeling a bit sick here and actually stopped to drink my water. No one passed me though. It was heating up and I had to make sure I got enough at that station. mile 9 and 10 seemed to go by slow and when I hit mile 10 I had to go #2 so I stopped and fell from 8th to 14th place. Crap! literally! Ok so I immediately passed a guy and then reeled myself to #12 position. There was 4 runners ahead of me all within 200 yards so I thought I could get them in the last mile. At mile 12 I tried pouring it on and when I got close the the #11 guy, he took off. It psyched me out and I didnt push it. I ended up in 12th overall and was a bit upset because I thought Id get a 1:11 time which is what I was set on but didnt happen. I talked to Dave Holt after and his time was upper 1:11's so I really was upset because I knew I shouldve pr'd. Next time, another day. I got to talk to a lot of runners and actually bumped into a friend (Esther Udall) at the finish literally backed right into her. lol I would rank that course as a good race to pr. If I had more miles in this year, I honestly feel like I couldve hit a 1:10. The winner of the race was in my age group go figure and did a 1:06! Crap the bed that is fast! That is only 1 minute off an Olympic qualifying time! Too bad they dont use Utah races. By the way I saw an article in Running times magazine in the Sept. 2009 issue on pg. 24 with my mug shot on it. They were doing an article on running flats and who better to model them then me? lol Bye yall! |

Ran up at daybreak 6 miles. It was pretty torturous after 4 days of boating. I still had my sea legs and toughed out those miles.
Went up to City Creek and started at the parking lot and ran up to the top (6 miles) and down. I started around 5:30 or so and it was hot, but had the canyon trees to cool the temps down a little. It ended up being 12 miles. There were tons of bees that would circle around me as I ran and hit me in the head. I had to stop and swat at them because they wouldnt leave me alone. Coming down they didnt bug me because I was hitting a 5:45 pace. My legs are thrashed.

Our goal Was to maintain a 730 pace up and try to get to a 530 pace coming back down. It was 10 miles exactly where we started and coming down we Jon Allen and I couldn't hit a 530. Our last 2 miles were 553 and 551. I forgot my garmin but I think we averaged 640 pace for our 20 miles. You can see Jons blog for more info. Thanks J-Dawg! Great run in a very scenic canyon. |

My right ankle pain is not going away. I think its joint or bone. It feels like arthritis, that dull pain that's associated with it. The run was warm this morning. I'm planning on 12 more this evenint up City Creek at 4. Ok I ran up City Creek and ran into a swarm of bees. I got stung on the hands trying to swat them away from me. I'm ok. | Met up at the park trail in Lehi. Ran the first 5 miles with Scott, Kelli, Smooth, Rachel, and Jona, and Misty and Sarah and the mystery man. There was a pretty brisk head wind. We turned around and Scott and I ran together at a 7:30 pace for the rest of the 15 miles. We ran south till it ended and came back the last 4 of 5 miles in the head wind again. I wanted to do a mile at a fast tempo pace so I convinced Scott to do one mile at the 18 mile to 19 mile mark. I did a 5:45 in a head wind and with a little hill close to to the end of the mile. I felt good. I ran into Melanie from the BBK group and talked to her and her sister and then Scott and I did a one mile cool down to make a total of 20 miles. I really wanted to hit a 70 mile week this week, but got busy with work and home projects. |

| Went to Payson early this morning with my Boat attached to the truck and got to the race at 6:30. I hurried and registered and did about a 1 mile warmup and then got to the start line and did some serious chit chatting! The race lined up and Rachel (Rad) got right next to me at the start line and when they shot the gun off she sprinted out and took an early 200 yard lead screaming and waving her hands in the air! I hope some blogger or private individual got the video or still shots because thats all the glory im giving her! haha I pushed the pace a bit hard at first and was immediately joined by two kids that looked like they were either high School age or College. One of them was breathing pretty hard so I figured id see how far they could sustain the pace we were at. mile 1- 5:05 I felt awesome at this point and had the two runners going strong next to me. Mile 2- 5:15 a bit of head wind and gentle drop. Mile 3 I decided to push the pace and see if the two could hang on. I got to 3.5 and there was a 90 degree turn and I gained 100 yards. I felt good at that point but was faced East into the sun with an slight up hill climb. I started to fade and just concentrated on my arm and leg movement. I got to mile 4.5 and there was another 90 degree turn facing me South into a slight headwind. I looked back and gained another 50 yards. I got to sneek a peek right before mile 5 on yet another 90 degree turn and I wasnt losing ground. I hit mile 5 and tried to go faster but found myself fading and running into the sun. I gained another 50 yards maybe more by then and finished right behind Marion who was in the 5k race. She out sprinted me and I had nothing left. Dang! Next time Marion, next time! I won a Timex Watch for first place and a commemorative Silver Dollar. The FRB had a good showing and we cleaned up in our Age devisions! We had Breakfast at Marions house afterwards and then Scott and Kellis family went with us up to Deer Creek for some solid tubing, and Wakeboarding. Im finally home to blog this! It was a great day! |

Ran with the bbk group. Did a 4.25 mile warmup. Then did 2x1.5 mile tempo runs. Then ran back to the car to get to work. It was a nice cool morning. Good for a run. This evening my scouts were working on the Personal Fitness merit badge and I took our boys to the Bingham track. They had to run a mile. I bet them I could run 6 laps to their 4. Only one of them beat me in the last length. It was fun! They were amazed at how I could run without stopping! They were asking me questions like how come your not breathing hard? lol What time to you get up and run? You could beat my mom when shes driving. lol Funny kids.

I went to Binghams track and met the Bbk group. We did a 3 mile warmup. Then a 1 mile pickup run then I did 6x800s with jogging in between 1 lap. My 800s were: 2.28, 2.32, 2.34, 2.35, 2.35, and 2.39. Man they wore me out. My 6th one was survival. I wished I couldve stayed longer for 2 more. That's usually when its beneficial to me even though I'm wiped out.
4:30 PM, met James Barnes at the Jordan River Park trail at 123rd and we ran the last 10 miles of the Riverton Half Marathon course together. It was freakin HOT! We saw Coach Jerry Sloan and he acknowledged us, he didnt call me by name though. I was expecting something more out of him. lol We finished 10 miles in 1:10 which is a low 7 minute mile.

| Met James at 5:30 and ran with him from his house to Butterfield Canyon. It is about 6 and a half miles up to the base. We went up the Canyon and it felt like we were battling a head wind but not too harsh. We made the turn at mile 10 and came back down and there were some campers with a fire smoking up the place. We got into a good pace downhill hitting a few 6:30 miles. Our last mile was a 6 flat mile and im glad James was there to push. I was dead. Its my last long run this year probably! YEAH! Time to gear up for SGM and concentrate on some sort of game plan. |

We made it about the first half mile and had no idea where to go so we waited for some Runners to tell us. The rest of the course was easy to stay on. I ran with James the whole way. Then pushed the last mile. It had a great turn out and the medals at the end had an angel Moroni on them. |

I beat 2 goals today. I ran a 2:31:40. More to follow. I'm cheering my friends in.
Ok my first goal was to get a 2:35. My second was to place better in the field which meant beating Sasha.
Mile 1--5:45
Mile 2--5:55 I felt like my legs were starting to warm up.
Mile 3--5:36 I had some hill to push me here.
Mile 4--5:37 It was still dark out and I couldnt read my watch so I had no idea.
Mile 5--5:43 The pack was out of my sight at this point and there were only 3 or 4 in front of me. I was by myself.
Mile 6--5:25 I started to see the Veyo hill at this point and was trying to gear up for it.
Mile 7--5:33 This was my first Elite aided water table station that I set Hammer Heed and a gu. It really helped me stay hydrated. I love this system.
Mile 8--6:35 I decided to not push the hill hard and stayed at a comfortable pace. The few that were ahead of me gained about 200 yards from pushing up the hill.
Mile 9--6:12 I started to get my momentum back a bit.
Mile 10--6:02 and 58:18 for a 10 split. I was right where I wanted to be. I felt like if I did the same for mile 20 I would be right on target.
Mile 11--6:24 Another little hill climb and again the competition was losing me.
Mile 12-- 6:04 Started to get my legs back a bit.
Mile 13--5:42 I finally started to feel good and my leg turnover was perfect for me.
Half Marathon point 13.1--1:17:40 I wanted to be at 1:18 for my first and 1:16 to get a 2:35 so I was right on my plan.
Mile 14--5:50 I saw Dave Holt and caught him around the end of this mile and he wasnt running like the Dave Holt I know. He slowed down to aid his brother. What a stud! I have thought about doing marathons like this as hard as I could push and then finish how I could just to see if I could hang.
Mile 15--5:30 I started seeing Sasha and the other runners slow a bit and I just kept on pushing.
Mile 16--5:20 The Crowd told us we were 12,13 and 14th overall at this point and I immediately passed the 13th and caught Sasha right at the 16 mile mark. When I passed him he told me I was on track for a 2:30 finish. I actually got a bit excited but knew there was plenty of running to do. I put myself at the start of the Ogden Striders 10 mile race that I ran this year. I just tried to focus on how I ran it and mocked it.
Mile 17--5:30 I felt great and didnt dare turn around to see what the competition was doing behind me. I was in a race of my life here.
Mile 18--5:33 I caught the 11th guy and passed him and he asked me what place I was in. I didnt want to tell him for fear of him pushing the pace so I told him I didnt know.
Mile 19--5:53 A bit of up hill to sting my legs but I knew what was coming! I did get on of my aided drinks and had place Hammer Heed in it again. I swear this stuff is so good to run with. No sugar taste and I could drink most of it. Which I needed. I also took a gu
Mile 20--5:41 Yeah! some more hill to help my legs move. 20 mile split was 1:55:44.
Mile 21--5:21 Im glad todays weather was to my liking and I properly hydrated during and before my race.
Mile 22--5:48 I was slowing down a bit but didnt get to nervous.
Mile 23--5:41 My last aided elite station. I placed Cytomax in this bottle but forgot a gu so I drank as much as I could of it. I started reeling in #10 guy and was getting excited!
Mile 24--5:40 Finally out of the canyon and into the home stretch. I saw some runners help pacing and pushing the #10 guy and they kept looking back at me and warning him! This really angered me and I found it very unfair. I was fading from him with nothing left in the tank.
Mile 25--5:55 I think I really let this get to my pshychy! I just lost 15 seconds to him. I wondered if I could push the last .75 to see if it was possible to grab him.
Mile 26--6:03 No chance, I was fading and was in a fight to finish. I saw nobody behind me and thats probably why I slowed.
Finish 2:31:43 I did a very good negative split on the last half and was very proud of my time! Estatic! I beat the course record by almost 3 minutes for my age group. However so did 2 others in my age group. Ian was 2:21 and a japanese guy that did a 2:26. So I didnt get to claim it. I learned a lot today. I really can negative split if I can get my pshychy in order. I learned this from Jon Allen who when he gets in a Zone, can accomplish a lot! Very cool! I was a bit disapointed for not hitting 10th. I really feel like this wouldve been a good opportunity with Clyde and Logan Pacing the 3 hour group and Dave's mishap. Now I know I just have to buck up and keep getting focused. I really feel I could break 2:30 now! My second Half was 1:14:03 which was faster than TOU half! I am so excited I did it! |

| I went to the Jordan River Park Trail at 70th south parking lot and ran North. I went 5 miles out and 5 back with the last 2 miles at tempo pace. When I was at mile 3.5 I was at the board walk and there was about 15 kids all dressed in black smoking pot and as I passed through them they started touching me trying to get me to give them a high 5. I inhaled a lot of smoke. hahahahahah I had the worst case of munchies after too geesh! I averaged 6:34 for the 10 miles and my last 2 miles were 6:14 and 5:39. | I went to the Highland 10k race put on by Fleet foot and did a 4 mile warmup with Bec, then I ran the 10k race as a bandit and it didnt look as though there was anyone there so I planned on just taking it slow and seeing if anyone would be fast. I did a 5:57, 5:56, 5:47 for the first 3 miles. There was a guy that was with me for the first 3 miles and there was a turn and he asked if anyone was behind us. I told him nope and then told him I was a bandit so he would get the official win! He got excited and then I told him I was going to try to push my pace faster. He said he didnt think he could do it but tried and he was doing a good job but i distanced myself by a half a minute. I got to mile 5 and felt like I was at the end of the marathon and faded a bit but such is life. I did a 5:30, 5:41, 5:55 for my last 3 miles and then sinnce I was running bandit I didnt know what to do with the last .2 miles so I slowed to almost a walk to let the guy behind me catch up and then just ran into the finish but didnt go through the shoot. It was a brisk morning. I then ran 3 more as a cool down and my legs are pretty tired. |

Went with Rachel to get on the buses. As I sat down, Michelle was there and then Rachel was right next to me and i didnt even see either of them when I sat down. Then Josse made it on the bus so we had a little chat session going up. It felt like we drove 26 miles. Got up to a Lodge and it was delayed almost an hour. Saw some really cool costumes up there! Luz showed up on the late bus and changed into her wedding dress. I was dressed as Adam, so yes I looked naked and had a fig leaf covering the best parts. It was a skin colored tights and it had painted nipples too. I loved looking at peoples reaction! Very fun! The race started and I ran with a group of 4 that thinned out to Steve and myself by mile 5. Then Steve kept his pace really good and I just felt tired. I hashed it out to second place tough. I had to stop right at mile12 to do a 2 minute potty break due to the costume I was wearing, I had to almost get naked to go to the bathroom and then pull that one piece body suit back on. I just wouldnt have made it one more mile. 1: 5:09, 2: 5:07, 3: 4:54, 4: 5:05, 5: 5:26, 6: 5:49, 7: 6:02, 8: 5:46, 9: 5:45, 10: 5:51, 11: 6:21, 12: 5:57, 13: 6:59 13.1: .20 We had joy we have fun, it was a cold start, warm finish. I ran from my house to Taylorsville gym which is 8 miles one way and then I did a spin class that my brother in law was teaching and I have to say that helped my legs the best! My average mile was 6:35. Im glad to see my average mile on a recovery run to be in the sixes.

| Partied hard last night and when I say hard I mean a PR! Had a lot of fun at Michelle L's house and played some fun games and found out who the sneaky people are. Thanks for ratting me out Mac! You know who you are. It was fun to hang out with the mid southern runners for a night. Good times. I woke up this morning at 4:45 and went running. I ran up to Danielles house in Daybreak which is close to 2 miles and I had to wait for 10 minutes for her. I swear, women! Im kidding you know i am. I ran 7 miles with her at a 8:30-9 pace. She just started back into running. She had battled a lot of injuries but is ready to get back. After 7 with her I finished a loop back to my house to make it 13 total miles. I got into a 6:45 pace after running a 9 pace. The back of my right knee is punished and has been expressing to me its concerns. | Did a 3 mile warmup run with the BBK group. Then a 5 mile run with Scott, Julie and Dean. I went off on my own after the second mile. I have a lot of pain in the back of my right knee. It feels like bone on bone. Also have issues in my back. I hold a lot of tension in my upper thighs. (couples retreat) |

13: 6:23 26: 7:37 13.1: 1:18:13 first half. 26.2 2:50: 38 Ok First of all let me give some advice to you about eating Jalepeno' Poppers the night before the Marathon. They are as hot coming out as they are going in!!! I barely made it to the buses in time which was a bit stressfull but I made it and sat next to my neighbor Greg and Burt and Becca was behind him. We made it up and they barely gave us time to use the bathrooms before we took off. I saw a Kenyan runner, and Nick McCoombs and new I probably had no chance of winning. We started the race off all 4 wide running and the actual winner of the marathon slowed down after the 1st mile which was a 5:38 and I felt really good! It was quite a downhill push to help us out. after the second mile the Kenyan started to push the pace and Nick held onto him and i slowed down which is good because my third mile would have been close to 5 even. I stayed about 100 feet behind Nick till mile 5 and started feeling like I had to go to the bathroom. I looked behind me to see where the 4th place runner was and he was quite a ways behind me. I used the porta potti at mile 6 and it slowed me down and as soon as I heard the 4th place runner I was out of the POP and tried to catch him but he started to push his pace and Nick was probably a good 1/4 mile ahead of me by then and I watched him actually catch him and pass him up. I thought I would see him burnt out down the stretch but he actually won the marathon in 2:19! sheesh! After I realized I had no chance at the top 3 I considered slowing down and seeing if I could help Tyler try to hit a 2:49 like he wanted to. I made it to the 13 mile mark and used the bathroom again and when I came out there still was no one in sight behind me. I made it to the next aid station which by the way were unatended, I had to fill my own cup up with water or gatorade hahah. So every aid station was sort of a buffet stop for me. Lets see, do I want to try a banana or some gu's? I wished they had some chicken or maybe some Ice cream. That would be nice! I made it to mile 16 and saw my buddy Kimball walking from the half marathon and I grabbed his shoulder and startled him and stopped and walked with him for about a minute. We were in a canyon at that point and I could see behind me about a half a mile and while I walked with him I watched for anyone to come around the corner but there wasnt anyone so I kept talking and then took off and made it through the windy uphill canyon and got my legs to start moving and then another hill would hit me and then down hill and then mile 21 there was a long hill that lasted a little over a half mile and I told myself to make it to the top and I break for a sec. I made it and then didnt want to stop so kept pushing myself. By then I was in the midst of a lot of half marathon runners and it was a battle to pass them. They were running 8 minute pace and it was as if my body would try matching them. I really had a hard time trying to get through the last 4 miles. I would cheer on the half marathoners on purpose just so I would get a little returned recognition or cheers back. I needed anything like that. It was a hard marathon to finish. I bet that the winner of this race couldve hit close to 2:10 on SGM course! I think it was a little too close to run from SGM also. It was great weather and a cool place to spend the weekend, even though I stayed in St. George. I want to give a shout out to Lisa, Josse, Dane, Becca, Burt, Greg, Nick, Redrooster, Amber, Jose, and whoever else was there that I saw that I forgot to mention. lol Very fun to be there. Um yes, I forgot to mention the most sought after Guy/Gal running team, Tyler and Kellie.

| I ran from the cabin down the mountain to Danielles cabin in Fish Haven. 2.7 miles. I picked up Danielle then ran on the highway to St. Charles and back to her place. Then mine. My legs are really hammered. Its so peacefull up here though! Not busy like the summer months. I saw lots of deer. I think they can sense the storm coming. I would love to have a getaway retreat like this. Very fun! |

| I missed yesterdays run and I feel just horrible about it. I went down this morning to 98th park trail and did a 3 mile warmup with Dean and his wife and Nancy. Then the others showed up and we started out next to the river and it was so cold I couldn't take it so I sped up and made a loop up to 10th west and around. I did it in 19 minutes so I must have been in the high 6 range. It was about 10 degrees. Felt like 1. |

| I saddled up the shoes this morning and was going to run to the gym and do a spin class but opened up the door and changed my mind. I drove to Marvs and did the treadmill. I started at 6 miles an hour then raised it a half a mile per hour every .25 mile till I hit 11 miles an hour. I love making that motor scream. I did an hour spin class after. |

I went from my house up to Daybreak 1.6 miles to Danielles house and ran 8 miles with her around Daybreak lake. Im not going to glamourize the truth, it was cold. I actually pulled out the tights and wore my wind breaker bottoms. I had 4 layers on top. I was warm enough to work up a sweat. After the 8 with Danielle, I ran the rest at a tempo pace. It was the same course as the Temple to Temple run that I felt so good running a few short months ago. I could only get my tempo to a 6:15 pace. It hurt to much. I am going to gear up starting right, NOW! Oh, I couldnt resist! I always get the warm fuzzies when I think of Lake Powell. I was trying to help warm me up. Only 6 more months of boat and insurance payments while it sits in my garage! Love it!

| Went to Dimple Dell gym and swam 20 laps or 40 lengths. I saw a few friends I havnt seen in a year that are triathleyes. I think I struck a bit of fear from the look in their eyes when I told them I was back. Haha. I ran on the treadmill after that 3 miles starting at an 8.30 pace and got to a 6 pace making my average of 6:30 per mile. I had to leave for work or I would've stayed. All day! I ran 5 at lunch time with Dulce. Very cold up there. Its good we didn't go up the canyon. |

| I woke up to a sore throat and congestion. I decided to run anyway. I left my house at 6 am and ran up to Daybreak and picked up Danielle. I ran 8 miles with her and it was fairly warm compared to other days. I had to deal with snow drifts and a fresh coat of snow that fell last night. I felt like poo and I just wanted this run to end. I was spitting a lot and my lips are super dry so I need to suck down some serious fluids today. I made a total of 11 miles and it hurt but im sure I wont die from it. At least thats what my High School coach told me a few years ago. I am off to get a haircut from Emily who runs with the BBK group. (insert advertisement) actually she is the best! Both Misty and I love her. My kids reminded me that my hair was getting a bit out of control. I believe the phrase was the 80's called and wanted their pre mullet hairdo back!~ |

| I partied like a rockstar last night till 1:30 am 45 miles from my house and the fog was thick so it took me forever to get home. I set my alarm on my phone for 5:45 and thought after I fell asleep someone was calling me. Nope it was my alarm. If it werent for accountability from meeting Danielle, I wouldve called it a wash. I ran up to daybreak in 10 degree weather. Im guessing but it was cold. Not much wind at 6 so thats a plus. I picked Danielle up and ran 7 with her around Daybreak in the newly developed part and checked out the new houses and things going on. Then back home. Made 10.25 miles. I felt ok after blowing my nose and it feels like my sickness is finally leaving my body! Now I can concentrate on getting serious again. Time to shop my last day and be ready for the next week. :) |

I set out into the brisk morning air to run with my brand new Garmin 310 watch that Santa brought me for Christmas. There was a wind blowing from the south and a bit brisk when I faced south. I made it to mile 4 and saw another runner coming the opposite direction and he was getting attacked by a miniature Pincher dog. That dog was ruthless! It wouldnt leave him alone until he saw me running up to him to help him and it came for me and I ran straight at it and did a false charge as far as I could and luckily it turned and ran away. I then kept running and it turned back on me. I reached down and grabbed a hard clump of snow and ran at it and threw the snowball at it and barely missed it but it got the hint that I meant business so it left me alone. I ran a 7:09 minute pace for 10 miles and my total time was 1:11. I really like this new watch. It vibrates every mile and i can feel it unlike the beeps from my last watch. I could never hear it. I went up to the gate at Millcreek Canyon with the family and we snow shoe'd up 2 miles and back 2. It was fun and holy crap there were a ton of people out there. The parking lot was packed and I admit watching those skate skiers and cross country skiers looked fun.

| Went to the Olympic Oval and did an indoor speed workout. I warmed up 1.5 miles and then did 12x400 with a 1 minute rest. Very hard after my 8th. I struggled but was able to average a 1:17. my first couple were at 1:10 and my last couple were hitting 1:19 so ive got to work on sticking a good average. My legs felt ok, my lungs were suffering from lack of a good workout. It hurt. |
