Met early with Bethany on the JRP in Lehi. We ran to the hot springs just off Utah lake and then came back and then went north to mile 12 so that once we got back we'd end up with 17.  7:19 pace which felt nice and relaxed. She was breathing a bit harder so im sure I pushed her.  I have been feeling it in my piriformis lately.  Time to find a groupon massage offer.

Bethany and I got the American Flyers Race Pacers ready and organized before the race and lined up. Went to the start. Didn't recognize anyone. I saw my Pearl Izumi team mate. He ended up running amazing today. He took second overall ahead of me. It was a nice and sunny day!! A bit cold at the start but warmed up quick. I had a few runners with me to mile 7 which are the uphill miles. As soon as it dropped I could finally get my legs to turnover. I was trying to keep my mind from wandering so I started thinking about the last 10k and used kilometers and meters instead of miles. It went by quicker figuring out how many meters I had left instead of miles. When I am running my mind races.  So when I am by myself I start looking at my watch more and getting bored. Doing games like this in my head keeps me from fading. At the finish I watched the pacers come in on their times and the reactions of those runners they helped stay on pace. I know I say this every time that this is my fuel my passion. I saw Kelli and Bill pace 1:45 and brought the same guy in as they have the last 3 years. This was their 4th year. How incredible was that you ask? Ask any other pace group in the nation. I will fight you if you find one! 😜 :)

A tough race for me post wreck I was in. I lost 11 days of fitness and income and teeth thanks yo a drunk driver. I was having a hard time getting into a rhythm. Nick pushed me and kept me going and then when it hit an incline I was done. I couldn't recover on the down at all. It was a great race with great weather. Our pace group was there pacing as well. Super fun day!

Met Chris by my house and did a mile warmup and then started a tempo run with slight incline and headwind. I made it a mile and a half and I was spent! I had a hard time getting air. Too much speed to soon.  Chris is running like an animal.

I never look forward to racing alongside a freeway on a frontage road next to the salt lake smell. I'm glad it's over. I started out super tired from the get go. The pace of the front pack would've been perfect for me to stay behind with the headwind we were getting but I only lasted a mile at 5:30 pace and I was done. I couldn't push myself any harder.  My body has been through hell and I'm finally getting over and through the pain I have had to deal with. I love racing and being out in the atmosphere of others. Craig and Dan did great and are running amazing right now.

Not bad at all for running there and after your ordeal. Nice to see you on the blog again. Well, I just saw your name on the right side of the blog, so I clicked on it. Good run

This is one of the most scenic races I've run at high altitude. It starts at Estes Park Lake at 7500' and by mile 9 you are at 8400'. But the last 3 drop which is nice. I started conservative after breaking my ribs two weeks earlier. I was in 3rd to mile 2 then fell to 4th as it started inclining. The uphill hurt me and I found it hard to breathe. I stayed about 200 yards behind 3rd going up and about 1/4 mile behind 2nd place. As soon as mile 10 came I pushed as hard as I could and caught number 3 within a quarter mile. Then just before mile 12 I caught the second guy.  I ended up about 1:30 ahead. I managed to stay under 7 minute pace going up the gauntlet. Good race and I got to see Bart Yasso and chat with him a bit!  He handed me my medal at the awards ceremony. Free parks pass for a year!

I was leg 2 in the first van. Team Almost Dead Jocks. My first leg was all downhill from Mt. Hood. Steve  Anderson started for us and we were 5th overall when he passed off to me. I passed google and another team and averaged 5:03 pace for almost 6 miles. Started at 5:43 pm

12:13 AM started my second leg out on flat with 2% uphill grade and rollers  I got yo mile 1, and had to stop at a light which had a competitive team catch me and pass me up.  It was a younger kid and I fought to stay with him  he gained 100' on me by mile 2. I kept after him and when it went flatter I pushed and passed him at mile 4 and gained a full minute on him by mile 6 with some serious humidity. I've never sweat more running. Sheeshla 37:00 flat with a 6:09 average.

7:04 AM started my last leg on an uphill right off the bat. My leg turnover was horrid but this was the point in the race where I came into the mass of other running teams . My third leg was definitely the hardest, although not the longest at only 5.75.  I know most runners in relays boast at over 6 but I'm just glad I could get it up the hill and compete at the over 40 stage. This is where my girlfriend could really play a factor in pushing me. I just concentrated on getting into a rhythm and not stopping .  I got to the peak of the climax and blew down the last section with a gasmic array! Done! I can now lay back and sleep! Although a cigarette would've been the best choice.  My last run was 36:40 which is about 6:23 pace.

Our team was first Masters team overall and we took 6th for all teams overall behind Google.

went to Tennessee and paced this awesome vacation races event. Vacation Races has a series of 8 half marathons in national parks. They put on s great race and cap out almost every race. This company is the first I've ever paced and ran in their events where they open an inaugural race and cap it out at 3000! The next race is Yosemite National Park, 10-10-15 then Lake Powell 10-17-15
