Met with Emily and some of her friends up in Corner Canyon. We ran up a single track trail to about 6700 feet in 5 miles which felt like Ragnar but was only a 1700' climb in 5 miles where Ragnar is 3600 ' in 7 miles. Very steep. When we got to the top we could see Utah lake and Utah county as well as Salt lake! What an awesome site! Very cool. My legs were thrashed and i was tired from last nights late run.  I will do more miles tonight. more to come...

5 miles around Daybreak loop. Just finished at 9 PM

I am in Lewiston, Utah...Home of the famous 4th of July festivities. These farmers know how to party.  I ran a 10k with approxiamately 50 total runners. They had a 1 mile and 5k also which was more popular. I started out fast of course with a 5:30 mile and then slowed my pace down when I was all alone. It was an out and back whichI I like to see where I am in the race. When I got to the 3.1 mile turn around, my brother in law was there with a water station and I saw that I was all alone so I stopped and drank the water and talked to him for a bit until I could see the second place guy. I then tried to get to a 6 min. pace but was suffering from a really bad head cold.  I had to stop and do the old farmers blow to clean my nose out. lol I immediately could smell the manure from the farmers fields which I thought to myself why I did that. I got a mile in 5:50 and then a 5:48 and I think my last mile was a 5:38 but I forgot to stop my watch.  I had fun and a local farmer actually got mad at me for running in it. He said i had no business being up here. Haha I told him for that Ill plan on next year. I set their course record its only been going for 3 years. They wanted to put me on a float afterwards for their Parade but I told them to just give me a rootbeer float and id be content with that. They gave me a medal and an Alveys Chocolate bar. yummy! I guess their first year they did this, they gave the winner a side of beef! I wouldnt mind that! Im off to enjoy the rest of the 4ths celebration. God Bless America!

Ran on the Riverton High Track this morning with Emily and friends. They really dont have a name, but they have a girl named Staci that could match me stride for stride until I did the 400 meter repeats. I like to do them with less rest myself but it was nice to do a good paced speed workout. We did 200's, 400's and some 100's which I just couldnt get into myself. I ended up with 5 miles total with a 1.5 mile warmup.  some of my 400 times were 1:10 and 1:08. I need to get more speed in my workouts.

6 more miles.

Ok here goes! At the start of the race I saw a lot of bloggers if I missed your name forgive me. I saw Josh and his wife, Ruth, Maryanne, Steve Hooper, Dave Holt, Mark and christy, Peggys husband ad peggy during the race. There were so many ive forgot who else but the start of the race sucked! There was a thick haze of smoke from a forest fire thats going on down here. The first mile was a gut check for me. I felt like there was no way I could hang with the main pack for even a mile. There was seven of them and then Dave and me. after a half mile or so Dave took off and caught the pack leaving me by myself 100 feet behind the pack. They were pushing the pace so I let them go. At mile 2 we had a severe drop for several miles which helped me get my legs back. Mile 1 was 5:40, 2 was 6:00 with a bit of up hill. Mile 3 was 4:49, 4 was 5:00, 5 was 5:01. I just pr'd a 5k time here! lol 3 miles in 15 minutes! Around miles 6.5 it started to level out and i passed 2 people putting me into 8th overall. At this point I could see Dave Holt about 200 meters ahead and every mile I gained on him to within 100 meters. My legs felt heavy once i had the real test of running and not falling.  mile 6 was 5:15. Miles 7 was 5:19, mile 8 was 5:38.  I started feeling a bit sick here and actually stopped to drink my water. No one passed me though. It was heating up and I had to make sure I got enough at that station. mile 9 and 10 seemed to go by slow and when I hit mile 10 I had to go #2 so I stopped and fell from 8th to 14th place. Crap! literally! Ok so I immediately passed a guy and then reeled myself to #12 position. There was 4 runners ahead of me all within 200 yards so I thought I could get them in the last mile. At mile 12 I tried pouring it on and when I got close the the #11 guy, he took off. It psyched me out and I didnt push it. I ended up in 12th overall and was a bit upset because I thought Id get a 1:11 time which is what I was set on but didnt happen. I talked to Dave Holt after and his time was upper 1:11's so I really was upset because I knew I shouldve pr'd. Next time, another day.  I got to talk  to a lot of runners and actually bumped into a friend (Esther Udall) at the finish literally backed right into her. lol  I would rank that course as a good race to pr. If I had more miles in this year, I honestly feel like I couldve hit a 1:10. The winner of the race was in my age group go figure and did a 1:06! Crap the bed that is fast! That is only 1 minute off an Olympic qualifying time! Too bad they dont use Utah races.  By the way I saw an article in Running times magazine in the Sept. 2009 issue on pg. 24 with my mug shot on it. They were doing an article on running flats and who better to model them then me? lol Bye yall!

Ran up at daybreak 6 miles. It was pretty torturous after 4 days of boating. I still had my sea legs and toughed out those miles.

Went up to City Creek and started at the parking lot and ran up to the top (6 miles) and down.  I started around 5:30 or so and it was hot, but had the canyon trees to cool the temps down a little. It ended up being 12 miles. There were tons of  bees that would circle around me as I ran and hit me in the head. I had to stop and swat at them because they wouldnt leave me alone. Coming down they didnt bug me because I was hitting a 5:45 pace. My legs are thrashed.

Ran with the BBKs this morning. we ran 4 miles of warmup and then did a 400 on the track with 200 recovery. then a 800, 200 recovery and then 2x1000's with 200 recovery. My 400 was a 1:18, 800 was a 2:36, and 1000 was 3:18 and 3:14. It was pretty warm this morning. I had to stop my workout short so I could make it to work on time.
