I started at mile 19 of the SoJo Marathon course. I ran 10 miles backwards which put me right above Herriman High School. Then came back. My house is right near the 19th mile marker. I took a gu at mile 10 which woke me up from the caffeine about mile 13. I need to use those more. It was super D duper nice out today!

Met at Robs house and met up with Fritz and we ran from his house up to the hair pin turn at the top of Emigration canyon which was 10.38 on my garmin and then turned around and went back. We were doing 7-7:30 up and 6-630 down. Had a head wind to deal with coming down as well.  It was a great run with these two speedsters!

Ran with Danielle 7 miles and 3 on my own. I felt really good at the end of my run so I pushed 5:41 and 5:35 on my last two miles. Very windy!

Ok I finally got a computer access at the condo we are at. I got up to the start and organized my pacers for the race and then I shedded my clothes and did a mile warmup. The wind came straight up the canyon and when I turned around and went back up to the starting line, I found it easier to run up the canyon. It was a warmer start despite the wind. We started on time and immediately, no one would go out because it would be suicide. We were running single file and I stayed about 8th overall behind BJ the windbreaker! He was a good sport for letting me stay behind for the first few miles. The group really didnt surge until mile 3 or so when we went from a head wind to a cross wind. Then it opened up and started to spread out. BJ started working on the main pack and I couldnt stay with him and found myself by myself and whenever there was a head wind it just made me fall back even more. I Passed a few guys which put me into 5th overall and that dreaded last hill at mile 9 brought me to my knees. I got passed immediately by 3 guys and when it went downhill I passsed 2 back. When we got out of the canyon Justin Park was running by himself ahead of us three and one of the guys surged and then the other and I followed suit but only had enough gusto to pass one at mile 12. The wind was so hard on us that I hit a 6:46 and knew I was way off. I worked harder in this race than any other half Ive run and my time doesnt show for it which is disheartening. But like many races Ive done before, I feel I showed better clout with this obstacle as Im sure the leaders would have been out of my site by mile 6 and this race they werent. I could see them all the way to the bottom of the canyon. Hopefully this race will help me get some PRs this year because if I worked like this on my last PR course Im sure I couldve hit a 1:08. Which was American Fork half. I felt like I coasted that race for the most part and had to try and push hard the last 5 to hang on to a win. I love this canyon and the drummers at the bottom and a nice warm getaway in March.

Met Danielle half way up to Daybreak and came down around the hood and finished at my house.  She is putting on a half marathon that will be on July 14th that is in running through the Lavender 5k. She is over that race and is adding this half.  Im sure ill be pacing it if she gets over 500 entries. Its only $35.00! With prize money. Oops there goes my odds of winning now. lol

Went right after I got home from work up to Daybreak and ran 8 with Danielle. On our run a lady was driving up 114th to Daybreak and her dog fell out of the car window and was yelping. Danielle and I ran over to warn people not to hit it and she turned her car around and came back to get it. It had a definite broken leg and im sure more the way it was crying. Poor thing.

I felt really good after the 8 so I decided to do a progressive tempo and I started one mile at 6:07, then 5:59, 5:50, and 5:30 to finish up. It is so hard to run fast when no one is there to push you.

I met up with Dani again and did 6.5 with her and 3.5 on my own. We opted to go down to the main streets which was hazardous. To much traffic and no shoulder. Wont do that again.

I met Bill and Kim at the Mcdonalds parking lot on 114th and 36th w. and we did a 10 up to Butterfield Canyon and back. Kim and I lost Bill at mile 8. I have his keys also. We ran almost 2 miles up Butterfield Canyon which ripped my legs up. It felt good to turn around. It is all downhill! Kim is running Boston so this should be a good tune up for her. When we got to Mcdonalds, bills truck was gone so I assumed he figured it out. It was a good run.

Ran with Sarah my daughter up to daybreak and did a hill workout. 4x800's up hill and 4x400s up hill. A very hard workout and I needed it! Good to see Sarah picking it up!

Nice and easy, get my legs back and met Danielle for a chilly run this morning. Go over our game plan for starting the half marathon on July 14th. We should have it posted on Young Living Farms website today and then the advertising begins! :)

I met my pacers this morning and got a quick photo with them and got them off and ready. I got a mile warmup with striders in the mix and did a bit with James Barnes. We got lined up and there was a bit of wind that kicked up. The race started on time and we were off. I immediately took a lead by the first corner and waited a bit to see if anyone would come up on me. I know Toni is a great runner so I was expecting him to go out a bit faster. I was by myself by mile one with a nice tail wind and slight down hill at 5:05! Holy crap, I kept thinking I wished this would just go straight north the whole time. Mile 2 had a turn with cross wind an my first up hill challenge and then straight into the wind. 5:31. Mile 3 was another head wind that was in the subdivision which seemed stronger as it funneled the wind to us. 5:38. Mile 4 was the ******* hill that takes you to a crawl but is only about .25 mile long and then I had my first taste of tail wind again! Yeah. 5:48. Then it was back to a head wind and a bit of a drop to the park trail which I knew would slow me down being ahead by myself with 3.5 miles of headwind. I kept a look out for the ones behind but couldnt see them. I suffered these miles which are so hard with some hill and of course wind. It wasnt as bad as Canyonlands though which I kept telling myself! 5 was 5:50, 6 was 6:08 and then I had a 6:18. Then 8 was a 6:40~ blah! finally got off the trail and into a cross wind and then finally back to a tailwind. mile 9 was 6:08, 10 was 5:59. Yeah! I broke 6 minute pace. Then a roller and another ******* hill that goes straight up! Then a last gully then flat and finish. I hit 1:17:51. I had to grit my teeth and go for it the last .1 when I saw the clock at 1:17:20 something. I got $100.00 and another wagon wheel trophy. 2 more wheels and Ill have enough to make my wagon!

My pacers did freaking awesome as usual and I had a ton of compliments and the race director was amazed! She said it makes a difference so im glad to see that! Made a ton of new friends and saw those stalkers from dailymile for the first time. lol Good day!
