Ran 4.25 on the river trail. My legs are sore today from the 5k yesterday. Oh what a feeling....

Walked 1.60 miles of cool down. Such a pretty morning.

My legs felt a touchey wouchey sore yesteday as well as today. So I kept it mellow...er um so I thought. Well, on the mileage.

Lifted weights for 50 minutes. Then 13 min on the elliptical hell.

Then I ran on the dreadmill 4 miles with the last 3 miles speed intervals. I forgot what forced speed feels like. It was kicking me around like a little girl. But this is what I need right now to whip my runner legs back into shape. They remember speed, but my stamina is just not there. I WILL GET IT BACK!  And hey. Who wants to join us this sat. at the red hot pink chicks run? Somebody needs to win the coveted rooster and free me of it! lol

ran 7. avg pace 8:10. k seriously, its time to invent bug goggles and a mouth/nose guard. I havent said anything but the bugs in my mouth and eyes while running is outa control!

Today was all about mind games for me. fighting off voices in my head that tell me I wont run as well as I once did. Im not sure why I struggle with this. Its happened to me after having babies and injury. I know I am a strong girl. Ive fought off this very same doubt 5x now.

Happy 4th! I love this nation.

This morning I ran 5.25 miles outside. Then went to the gym and ran 2 miles on the tm with speed intervals. Lifted weights working legs. Worked my core good.

Got 5 miles in outside on the river trail. Cloudy out. If it's going to be cloudy, then let it rain for a day.

Anyway, my pace today was very recovery mode-like. Legs felt a touch fatigued from yesterdays couple miles of speed work.I was clipping along enjoying my music, when Steven King, a local runner pops up next to me on his road bike. Scared me to death! He looked like an alien with the helmet and yellow goggles, wearing an all white biking shirt and shorts. I shrieked out loud. hayi

And I have a problem with men honking at me. Especially if I go out for a light run/jog in the evening (2adayers). It's so so annoying!

Went to the gym and did some tabata sprints using the elliptical, for 12 whole minutes. Sounds useless but you should see the sweat it works up. It's doing something.

I lifted first thing this morning at the gym. Fatigued myself there before leaving to run outside. Got in 6.25 on the trail. I am happy to see my avg pace already dropping under 8. I did incorporate about 6 pick ups. Got my pace down to about 6 minutes. Played a game of 'catch me if you can' with 2 girls on the trail. I like to do this because it motivates me to find a faster groove. One girl I could tell had a great pace. I eventually was able to catch her after about a mile of chasing and pass. This helps me a lot every summer. I know it sounds funny but it works.

I really miss running with Merri and seesuerun. They run but are spoty hit and miss. I am not sure if they have a set schedule for running. Sue likes to weight lift more than run now.

Red hot pink chics tomorrow. Who wants to come run with us? It's all in the name of  fun and chatting and eating afterwards. WE meet at 6 and run up the Provo river trail. Come one peeps. Join us!

It was kind of an unoffical RHPC 1/2 marathon today. But so fun as usual! I ran 14 with Becca (bec) RAD and Rachelle. So glad because those gals kept the wheels turning. I think we ran up the canyon faster than we ran down. We were CRUISING. We decided to run further up to the bathrooms and water near the opening up to south fork. This was my first double digi run since April. It messed with my mind bad. I kept thinking I shouldn't be doing this. But I just rolled with it, all the while wanting to jump for sheer joy at a true long run! I just love the run and the chat chat and the beautiful trail of Provo Canyon. So amazing. Last mile my body told me it wasn't ready for this distance yet. My hammy twinged a bit. So I lost the girls for the last mile while I stopped and stretched really well. And then walked/jogged the last mile back to the pavilion. I also have some major clothing chafe everywhere,YIKES! My shower here at home hurt like no other!

Yummy brunch followed the run. Thanks Kelli for the leftover Cinnamon Bread! My hubs LOVED it!

Kel has the rooster. Can't wait for next year. We need more of you out. It is a really good training run and good time. Hey Smooth so good to talk to you. You are the sweetest lady on this blog.

Double digits HOORAAY!

Didn't run very long today. I did some crazy maneuvers on the elliptical instead. So I just ran 3 miles and brisk walked a mile. I'm weird like that sometimes...

Ran the Scottish Sprint in Payson this morning just before the Scottish Festival and games kicked off. It was a teeny tiny, rinky dink race.. I cracked up laughing as I walked up to the race start. So did my husband. :) If he notices how small it is, then it was small! ha

I woke up late, had to get kids ready to come with (we met my family after in Payson Park) I barely got my bib pinned on. I didn't eat before and my Garmin would not turn on!  Zero warm up.I kept thinking: this ought to be a good one. I ran watchless for the first time in 3 years!

I registered for this race just to use as a speed workout, as I was going to be spending part of the day in the Park for the Scottish festival with my family.

First mile and a half are a really big uphill that met up at the mouth of Payson canyon, then it turned east. Then, there was still some incline. During the first mile some bikers passed and a guy on a bike shouted something at me, so I took my headphones off and he said go catch those boys! I recognized him from the gym. I tried! I passed 2 of the 6 men that were in front of me. I almost passed a 3rd at the finish line. My husband snapped a photo of it because I was on his butt and almost chicked him right at the finish. We had a good laugh about it afterwards.

I was surprised with my time as this was a MUCH harder course then the Lehi round up 2 weeks ago. (6:40 avg pace today) Looks like those few bouts of speed work I have done are already improving my fitness. I felt much better today cardiovascular wise, than I did at the Lehi round up too.

Bottom line: Do your speed work fast running bloggers!  They cause your fitness to take leaps! I am a believer in pushing yourself on those fast days to where it is very uncomfortable.  And this is why. It can pay off in even small amounts of time.

I feel like I am not doing to bad for not running the whole month of May and half of June. :)

10 miles. No watch. I just know the mileage of my route. Last 2.5 miles speed intervals. It was crazy hard. My watch is having issues. I don't know what I am doing with it, so I need to wait till my Husband is back to help me fix it.

Husband is in D.C. till Thursday. It is HARD being the only parent at home with wild children.  :(

I strength trained my legs yesterday with a fury. So today my legs were VERY sore. I ran very slow and just 4 miles.

Walked 2 miles as a cool down.

My garmin is officially dead and gone. Hard and soft resets are not working at all. That thing cost $370, so this really bothers me that 2.5 years later it is having issues. So I am now running clueless as to how far and how slow/fast.

So todays mileage is a guess.

My legs are still very sore from strength training them on Wed. So I drank some BCAA mix today and will again later. This helps repair soft tissupe.I also still feel a lot of fatigue when I run. So I am having my thyroid checked next Friday. Maybe It's time to not be a fast runner, or a blogger anymore. Everything is going wrong

Race: Speedy Spaniard (6.2 Miles) 00:43:11, Place overall: 8, Place in age division: 5

The race here in Spanish Fork is quite a doozy. It brings in a decent amount of people. It hovers around 600 people. I love it because it's kind of my home town. I graduated from high school here, and lived here for 2 years after I graduated. Then built a home here in 2006 with my husband.

People have been asking me if I was ready for this today. The answer was confusing to me.

Yes but no.

I feel REALLY behind in my training this year. Hurting my calf took a lot of my fitness. It's a fair assessment.  It's not an excuse. I could tell from the the moment I jumped back on the road in middle june that I lost a lot of running fitness. Oh well. But today, I was actually feeling good. I threw down some 6:30's and a couple of 6:50's  before something happened. In the last mile I started getting VERY dizzy and felt a lot of confusion in my mind.  Then I got VERY nauseated. Not the normal semi nausea I have had in the past during the shorter distance races. But this was abrupt and felt really severe. The last mile I stopped 2 times because I was sure I was going to vomit, and sure I was going to lose consciousness. The last mile of this race today was the worst I have EVER felt in a road race. It even tops St. George. Yeah, it was that bad.

I don't know how I made it to the finish. I can't remember even finishing. I know I fought passing out as I swayed and stumbled through the lines at the finish shoot. It just so happened that my personal Doctor was there, and immediately grabbed my arm and took me to the tent to lay down. I honestly almost passed out. It took a good 20 minutes to get back to a semi normal state of mind.  My husband had to help me walk. I was a MESS. My blood pressure was very low. The nurses monitored that for awhile.

After talking to the Dr. he asked if I have changed my diet recently. A light bulb went on. DING! Yes, I started eating ultra clean about 9 days ago. Eating clean is hard. There is hardly any sodium in my diet. I also started drinking a gallon of water a day -which waters down your electrolytes.

So todays problem: electrolyte imbalance. Ayyy! Someday I'll get this right......

(Side note: I really feel like I would have been sub 42 today had this not happened. I really do. I was on my way there. I paced next to Shari Hales nearly the whole time until the last mile. She did a 41:38)

Wanted to post this because it described me to the T this morning:

Symptoms of mild hyponatremia (low sodium) include:
