5 miles all together today. 12x200m at the track with Lynsey. I had more stamina this time for whatever reason. I think I double lapped Lynsey during the reps. I faded a bit the last 3 reps. It's good to run with Lynsey a bit again. I am missing Merri though. She said she would join next week. :) I had a blood draw last week to test my thyroid function. I've been really fatigued for several months. Hopefully this will show whether or not it's a factor. If it isn't, I'll know I am just on over training burnout mode. I don't think I am going to run hobble creek because my aerobic base just isn't all the way there. I don't want to go into another race feeling like crap and bomb it. It makes me frustrated because I know what I am capable of. I also think I am avoiding a marathon this year. I might cycle down for a couple months then rebuild a heavy aerobic base again over the fall/winter like I did in 2009-2010 which spring boarded me into a fantastic year of PR's. If there is a low thyroid problem, hopefully a medication can help correct that imbalance and I will feel like myself again in a few months too.wo

Ran 5.25 on the river trail at O'dark. It is DARK in the morning these days. What happened? Where have I been? This sucks. avg pace 7:43
Left leg near the shin is hurting a little today. I really need to get my butt over to runners corner and get a light weight stability shoe.

| | My left leg hurt a lot on Monday after my run. So I didn't run yesterday or today just to be safe. Weird, it hurts in the same spot as my right leg did a few months ago. Found out my thyroid is a little low. That's why I'm so fatigued all the time. No fun. Definitely not going a very good running year for me. :/ oh well...

| | Weights (back, lats). Then 36 minutes elliptical hell. Followed by 10 more minutes of elliptical hell doing tabata sprints. Walked 25 minutes on the dreadmill. And why no running? Because my left leg is hurting in the same spot on the shin as my right was a few months ago. BAD YEAR. I am so pissed. Think I am done trying to run and compete. Blah. Why blog either. Always hurt. Always angry. The silver lining though is I am more engaged in the lives of my kids this summer. It has brought me so much happiness sans marathon training. I love my kids and husband. Our family is blossoming so much right now. So if running takes a back seat, I am so okay with that.

I dunno if I can even claim I ran this. Did I? Sorta.... This sore shin and low thyroid thing is nothing less than depressing this summer! 2012 YOU SUCK!

Wow I actually ran 5 miles without much pain! Crossing my fingers that this time I am truly on the upswing. What a year I have had. I was catching some awesome speed in March-April and mileage was climbing then wham-o! Shin splint w/calf pain. Knocked me out for all of May and half of June. Finally start running again feeling good. But still fatigued. Then WHAM-o, low thyroid diagnosed. That's why I've been fatigued. Start taking care of that then wham-o! Shin splint on the other leg. Really?!?! 2012 has not been a good year for me with feeling good in general. I've struggled a lot. I really hope everything clicks back into place. I feel sad that I haven't done one distance race. But now am thinking if I can stay healthy and slowly up miles, I can run the Halloween half. Good times. But ball shriveling cold at the start. Good thing I don't have those.
