12.57 miles on my bike nice and easy.  No pushing it.  AP 4:30.  Roads only today.  Went past PG rec and up to Main st in Lindon and up to the "benches".  So pretty.  Was out there by 545am.  Then stopped at rec and did 25 minutes on cybex trainer.  I FOUND a HUGE LOB-like mass in my lower inner calf muscle yesterday afternoon.  Scared at first as it was quite large but repeated massage eventually flattened it and ODDLY (but obviously part of route problem) my heel pain was greatly minimized.  I could almost walk pain free.  I iced it after that.  And last night my heel was completely pain free. With other damage notable from running injured-- plantar fascia pulling from heel.  But not intense. HOWEVER since it was cold I decided to wear my compression sleeves on my calves and when I got off at the rec at mile 10 my foot was throbbing in the heel.  Couldn't walk normal.   I did the cybex but my heel was uncomfortable the whole time.  IT didn't dawn on me til I got home to massage that muscle. APPARENTLY it did NOT LIKE COMPRESSION and made my nerve pain to my heel even worse as after massaging it for a while I could touch my heel.  I started myself on Prednisone last night to kick all this inflammation.  Going to do a 7 day taper.  MY dr did order solumedrol but last year I had a bad reaction to it with massive pains to my legs from my back.  I also did prednisone last year but I should have known better than to do the high dosing he had me taking.  So I started on 20 mg.  so 20  x 2, 15 x 2, 10 x 2 and 5 x 2.  8 days really.  But five is such a low dose.  Hope it works.  I started taking my compounded DHEA too.  I found it. I thought I threw it out.  I tried some from good earth.  And was taking way too much.  Now I am on 5 mg (down from 25 mg at good earth, cheaper so I tried it and my sister takes this dose. NOT good for me though). BONE UP helping with my tight legs in the morning.  Starting to feel some hope the last two days.  Biked home.

foot bad off. something tore  at trafalga on tuesday and foot very angry today.  acutally i can't really say where the pain is from anymore--tarsal tunnel?  fascia? lower back disk problem?  seriously it is memorizing how limiting this problem is.  I may have to break down and get an MRI.  ARGHHH.  I just don't want to get one and have them classify it as mild something or other and be like HELLO!! this isn't mild!!!!!!  It is making me walk funny and not be able to run at all.  But that is only if I do the foot....so then they will want to mri my BACK... HELLO money doesn't grow on trees you know.  I feel stuck.   SOOOOO I attempted my bike ride on day four on steroids and I felt super weak so I just came home and laid out in the sun on my deck and meditated.  2 miles on bike.  THEN at 10 went to 7 peaks with AMBER and met my sister there.  We didn't plan it but we were there at the same time.  : D.  I was a lump on a log since I can't even walk normal.  Limping barefoot on concrete not the funnest in the world.  Stayed three hours.  Rested all after noon.  THEN-- got energized!!

So I went for a bike ride at 7 pm up to the canal.  SO EXCITED.  First mile was 3:57 (PR was 4:09 and this isn't all out or anything just natural but consistent resistance).  SECOND STRAIGHT UP mile 6:23!!!  HELLO!! where did that come from???? PR on second mile was 6:59.  That is a 36 second improvement.  IT was hard but felt the same as all the other times so I am happy I am getting stronger DESPITE my foot causing all sorts of issues for me.  Road on the canal south to Orem 800 North almost to mouth of canyon and then back to Orem soccer fields and over to state street and down past Aspen Elementary to soccer meeting for my Amber.  15 miles in 1 hr and 30 seconds.  3:57 AP.  No stopping.  Lots of slowing at places where intersections of road cross canal but that just makes it so I work harder!!  LOVED this ride.  A lot of my miles were 3:30.  AT mile 10 however my back started to ache GREATLY!! INTENSELY actually.  And I was worried when I got off my bike my foot would be screaming.  OH contrare!!!  There was NO pain!! HMMMM????? so is this foot problem a BACK PROBLEM????????? someone help me understand this??????  I woke to no pain in my foot this morning but now it is back.  This is craziness.  Where is this nerve tumor at???????  Meeting lasted 1.5 hours.  Amber plays for Celtic Storm.  She is very good at soccer.

just really wanted to try out my HOKAS.  I really think they are going to be great when my foot is resolved.  BUT I am thinking I need to turn them in for a size 8.5.  They said they size a half size down from your usual.  I got a 9 as I usually wear a 9.5 but my left foot is swimming around in the shoe.  Darn my non mirror image body and foot size discrepency!!   ONE mile to test the shoes, out and back 1/2 mile so easy it was ridiculous.  I could feel my heel pull if I tried to go faster.  SO NO WAY.  9:50 mile.  sweet.  SO of course I had to to do HIIT.

Core challenge-- 1:30 crunches (50) 15 pushups,1 min plank, 1:30 side planks divide in half, 1 min bridge, 1min plank, 1:30 side planks(same as before), 15 pushups, 50 crunches, 1 min straight arm plank, 2:00 bridge, 50 crunches.

Then-- 45/15 rest ball squats, one leg ball squats and dead lift repeated x 3. First two sets I did 45 second each side for one leg squat and dead lift then I realized I was supposed to divide the time. Ahhhh that was better.  TIRED!!!! HUNGRY.

Barely any sleep.  In bed at 1130.  Tossed and turned.  Woke at 420 and picked Kim up at her house at 435 then met Melanie, Erick, Josse's mom, and Rachelle at mouth of canyon.  Drove up canyon and met Marcie and Amber Green at 5:08am.  Drove up canyon on the opposite side of the road as everyone else just because I am that way.  Got them to start at 5:29am.  Drove to mouth of Canyon where I had dropped off my mountain bike.  Left after a potty stop in the bushes at 6:15am ish and bike to Wallsburg turnoff from trail all the way to South Fork then up on to concrete.  Met first place guys at about mile 12.5.  Two were together.  Then Seth Wold about a minute later then Walter and another guy after that.  Then AMBER green in 17 overall or so. Then in second I saw Rachelle then Tara and Carina then Melanie, then Kim C. then Kim T., McKenzie, Aubrey, Becca, Holly and Jessica.  Fun times seeing a lot of my friends!!  BIKED 38 miles!!!! VERY good workout!!  Was able to tell Amber Green she was about a mile ahead.  And tried to get Rachelle to pass Tara back but Carina and her were going at a pretty good clip.  ICED in Provo River 7 minutes.  Felt soooooo good.  Legs sore from Hiit yesterday and the mountainous climb this morning WITH a headwind.  When I turned around the tail wind was nowhere to be found.

5.5 mile bike ride to Lehi Rec ctr to meet Melanie.  Pull ran for 38 minutes.  At first it felt ridiculously easy.  Like I had no legs at all. It felt that way for 30 minutes until I tried a few "pick" ups then it felt like MAYBE I was working something. SO FUN though.  We could run side by side and talk and not worry about pace or Melanie being far from me.  Road my bike home.  5.5 miles.   CORE CHALLENGE AGAIN.  Man that workout from Josse is a KILLER.  At least I don't get sore anymore.  But it is tough every time.  No wonder I couldn't move after the first day.  CAN'T wait for DR. appt tmr.  Finally.  My foot is just ridiculous....IF I HAD TO GUESS my first guess would be TARSAL TUNNEL DUE to a NEUROMA on the nerve group there.  Second guess would be nerve entrapment due to osteomyelitis in my heel.  Third guess would be STRESS FRACTURE of the calcaneus.  Forth guess-- A mixture of several of the above.

Studio C last night for FHE.  Amber lesson on ZELMHIG.    Very tired yesterday.  7 peaks for 2.5 hours.  Came home and napped.  Today I slept in til 7am.  Biked to Melanie's house to get my goggles and swim cap-- 7.5 miles.  HEADWIND and crosswinds GALORE.  Both ways.  How does the wind do that?  AP 3:57 for 15 miles.  Great Harvest bread  YUM.  with Almond butter and honey.  A little cottage cheese and skim milk on the side to treat myself.  Dr. Appt at 1015am today with Dr. Phillips.  I just figured out WHY my ankle was getting more painful instead of better with rest--- the STEROID that was masking SOME of the pain was working .  IT is wearing off now as it has been FOUR weeks today and each day over the last week my ankle has gotten more and more painful.  The pain is my inner ankle down into my heel.  See yesterdays thoughts on diagnosis.

steroid taper trouble?  two steroid shots, oral prednisone, another steroid shot = JOINT pain from knees down and some intermittent in my lower back and pelvis.  PRETTY intense.  OLD lady like.  Very stiff and pain ful.  Burning to aching.  Anxious but no appetite.  Tired.  Eyes burning/blurry.  Very concerned.  Ran this morning four miles to test out my steroid shot and my legs were unresponsive and could feel my heel a bit.  Trouble is my right foot is so scared to land normal afraid a can of worms will be released as it has been.  So scared of the pain worsening.  This joint/muscle/tendon pain is NOT normal.  I really wish I had some answers.  The longer I go undiagnosed the MORE I feel God is leaving me.  But maybe He is testing me JOB-Like.  I prefer the thin model body and lots of money test over this.  I am not sure I like this much physical pain day in and day out.  About 1/2 hour after my run my legs and calves and shins ached continuously.  Throbbing and my feet joint were painful as well.  I could barely walk at work.  Just like some 84 year old. After talking with a coworker who was on steroids for 6 months she said when she came off she had intense joint pains mostly in her knees and was worried she had arthritis. But realized it was the steroid taper.  It took a while and she got better.  Probably when her adrenal glands kicked in.  My body reacts poorly to steroids.  Shuts my adrenal glands off for a while.  Last summer the intense pains were from my pelvis to my knees after a short week on steroid--solumedrol dose pack.  This year it is from my knees to my feet.  So painful.  So sad.  Wondering how I ever did run in my life as walking is so painful.  Some days I wish I would just die.  But then I wonder where I would end up?  More miserable?  I lack testimony when  I get to this painful abyss.  I know some day some things will make sense.  Hope it is all fair.  AP 8:55 for 4.

8.5 miles bike ride at 525 am to Willow Park to meet Rachelle.  AP 4:11

8 mile run north from Willow Park on JRP, turned around at 4 miles.  First run with someone in a long time.  Hopefully coming back from the dead.  Guarded myself from foot pain.  Was definitely there.  Just can't due anything quick.  AP 7:59.

8.63 miles home (slightly altered course) on mountain bik.  AP 4:15.  Lower back in pain.  Hard to move legs through pedal motion.  Lumbar disc problem   Walked funny for a bit after ward.

820am-- dr appt at pain clinic.  July 19 th appt for injection into S1 nerve root on right.  Contributing to heel pain and obviously back pain.  I have a transitional lumbar 5 vertebrae.  Apparently this prevents my lumbar L5 to S1 to do what it is suppose to which is 75 percent of the work in exercise--extension/flexion.   Since it is sacralized it prevents it from bending and therefore puts excessive pressure on the L4/L5 disc.  HENCE the herniation noted on MRI last summer CENTRALLY at L4/L5.  This problem is congenital.  Born with it.  It is hard to expain but my last lumbar vertebrae during development was CONFUSED and tried to be sacrum instead of a lumbar vertebrae-- it is half / half-- so mobility compromised.  Stress on back great.  SUCK.  So nerve root at S1 is being compressed like it was on left side last year.

1115am   Jane's baby shower at Zupas. Fun times.  Good food.  She is having her baby on Monday--induction.

130 to 830-- Travel to from and stay five hours at Camp Jeremiah Johnson for Activity Days.  I volunteered for Amber's group.  My other two girls have been twice each and I have never gone.  It was fun to see what they had done before and to hang with all the girls there.

9.3ish miles. no garmin.  ran with carina and tara.   nerve pain right foot by pinky toe.  had to stop at 9 miles and walk.  said bye to them.  we ran into significant head wind up to the canyon.  ap 7:56 ish.  1.8 miles down at 6:30 pace.  That aggravated my sciatica and foot greatly--seems to be all nerve related in right foot coming from back.  mri tmr on foot. geez.  wish i could just not get it.  i could but then i cant figure out where the problem lies--- back or foot??? or both helping each other fail.

PM-- weird, laid down for an hour after dinner and got the itch to run outside in the heat wave and I felt light and good-- except for some caution with my lower/back/heel S1 pain I was like my old self.  No pushing pace and just ran what felt easy.  No garmin.  Course tooled run at 7.93miles.  Rounding to 8.  Took 64 minutes so about 8 ap, or 8:02 to be exact if course tool on.  Surprising as it was low 90s, muggy but the heat didn't seem to bother me.  Less sweat than usual and like I said more like myself.  Gave me hope.  Hamstring (right) nerve to there that is got tight and could feel the pull so nothing was forced just tried to relax.  The most even effort my legs have given together in a while.  Felt inspired to run for the sake of Josse's stepfather who was killed this week sadly.  Wow. That was a shocker.
