| | Ran with the club tonight. Measured mine and Steve's mile trails. Everybody pretty much voted out mine. Ran back down to the park. Steve and Holt tried to pull a fast one by taking a shortcut but they just cheated themselves. | Add Comment |

| Race: |
Butch Cassidy 10k (6.2 Miles) 00:35:31, Place overall: 4, Place in age division: 3 | | Wow. Let's see- Race started and I went out pretty hard but not all out. A couple SUU runners and Holt were out in the lead. I rolled through the first mile and a half then started to really feel cramped (all over the legs) then around mile 2 Steve Olsen comes knocking at my door and we run together for about a half and he starts to go, and my brain says we can go with- but the body can't do it. Just couldn't get out of the hole today. Run the next 2 or so really cramped and then after mile 4 or so I finally start to feel better but by then the damage is already done. Everyone is long gone. 35:31 4th overall. Pretty sad that earlier this year I held 5:30 pace for a half marathon and today I struggle to hit a 5:40 pace in a 10k. I guess I'm just not ready to be racing fast yet. After todays race I felt like my body and mind need a rest from the race prep/ training. So I'm not going to run the Valley of Fire Marathon in November. I'd like to enjoy the wrestling season this year. It's my 5th year as the assistant wrestling coach at Dixie High. This year we've got some good kids that we've been working with for the last few and I expect good things. So I will aim my attention that direction through the winter and try and improve my core fitness while trying to keep my weight down. Did a mile warm up and a few at the hotel in Phoenix. Any who- the race was just o.k. I wasn't pumped by any means, but wasn't really bumbed out. Holt ran a good race. He transformed into a retro 80's guy with his new business in the front, party in the back hair cut and classic old nike flats- And a head band. It was pretty funny. We had to bail pretty quick after the race to catch a flight to Phoenix. Had the honor of enjoying an In-and-Out burger in Vegas before we went to the airport. It hit the spot. | Comments(4) |

| | Bill and Steve came over at 4:30 p.m. and we ran from my house down to Pine View High. Holt was there with his running team doing a run-a-thon of some sorts. We ran a few there and then went back to my house. Glad we got out, could have talked myself out of it just as easy. | Comments(1) |

| | Ran from the house down past Costco and up Formaster Dr. down 700 and up to the park. Did one mile there and then up to the Blvd and back home. Good run. Body feels like it hasn't been getting in the miles. Overall I felt pretty good. | Add Comment |

| | Meet up with the club. Went from the Dixie Center down into Bloomington then up the trail that heads out into the desert up over by Green Valley. Then Steve's knee was hurting him so Holt and I left him and went up through Green Valley to the top of Bluff. That part is about a 3 mile climb and I was struggling to get it over with. When we got to the top Holt was a couple blocks back and I thought if I stopped I may not get going again. So I continued on down diagnal street and then to main all the way down to the over pass and back to the Dixie Center. Overall it was a good run. I felt good until the last mile or half mile then I started to get stiff. Glad to get in some better miles over this weekend. From now on my wrestling life will take over until the middle of Feb. Next weekend we start our out of town wrestling trips that are Friday and Saturday- Running will be almost impossible. | Comments(2) |

| | As the weather gets cold here in sunny St. George I can't help but feel for those poor souls in the north. Todays run was cold. Up in the desert over to the water tank, down turky farm road and then through the industrial park back home. | Add Comment |
