4.2 mile run this morning. I went over to Wendy's a and looped around that block. Then headed back down to the "Y junction and back on Middleton Dr. Just a short one this morning. Busy day planned. Hope to get to the club run tonight at 5:30 and get a few more in.

8.7 mile club run tonight. Perfect temps and running conditions tonight. A large group of people showed up so that was cool. We went up the Chuckawalla trail and down off the rim into the Entrada housing project area. Then back on the paved trail. Overall it was a great run. I left my keys inside the store and was worried that they would get locked up for the night so I pushed it once I hit the trail. Hit sub 6 min pace for the last 3 or so miles. The fastest one being at 5:47. Not flying by any means, but for the first time since the marathon a month ago I felt like I could put it in gear and run. So it was nice to get a mini tempo in. Maybe I can start to shake all the sluggish junk out... We will see if and when I run the half marathon on Nov 17 in Snow Canyon.

6.5 mile run this morning in GS. After pushing it a little last night I thought I'd feel sluggish this morning. But I felt great. It's about time I finally started to feel like running was fun again. Anyways the legs are really feeling sharp. I going to say the half in a couple weeks is a go.

7 miles tonight. Up to the watertank and down the S' road off by Twin Lakes. Felt amazing tonight. I did and so did the climate. Shorts and running singlet and it's November 2. As I came by the power station I felt my body want to go faster and faster. By the time I was coming down the S' curves I was flying. I didn't have a garmin on (wish I had worn it), but I've never felt that swift... ever. I had to be hitting 4:40 or so pace as I came down off there. What a fun run. It got me all pumped for the 2008 race year. Good things to come.

Flew down to PHX today for our twice a year business stuff. With watching the trials stuff this morning and packing for the trip I didn't get out at home before we left. So once we got here I got out. It was warm out around 88 or 90 degrees. I went up a trail that I ran a few months ago with Paul and David on our Del Sol trip. After I got up to the top I turned down a river trail and ran it down a few miles. I was feeling a little trashed and looked at the garmin and I was going around 6:20 pace. So I told myself to slow down. It felt like the pace had slowed but never really got over 6:40. So after doing that to around mile 8 or so I dropped below 6 min pace for three miles and then 1 mile of cool down.

Good job to Paul, Logan, and Sean today. You guys are amazing.

10 mile morning run up to the canal and took a right. I saw a large turtle swimming in the canal. At first I thought it was dead but as I got closer it bolted- it was cool. Almost the same run as on Saturday. My stomach is very tight from the omelette, cheese and jalapeƱo bacon I've been eating here. Along with a bunch of other non approved items. Even though I felt like trash I still got a good run in. 6:52 min/miles for average on the run.

10 mile run this afternoon here in PHX. It was like record high temperatures today for this time of year. I think it got up to 93 or 94... Regardless it felt warm for November. I didn't have anything going on today so I just did my morning run and then lay by the pool and got a good burn... Then got out for another run just to pass the time. I went up to the canal again and took a left and ran it up and down. 6:39 min/mile average on the run.

14mile run this morning. I drove from the hotel down to the Tempe Lake by the ASU campus. I did two full loops and a little more here and there. Mik'L ran there the other day and they cut over the bridge that runs in the middle of the lake. I went down to the very bottom past the golf course and made my way around it. The run was ok. I think I'm getting the pluresy or whatever it was called in my chest again. It's a sharpe pain right under my ribs. In the past it has hurt for a week or so and then went away. So we will see how this works out.

We don't fly out until 7 p.m today. So I may end up doing a few more this afternoon just to pass the time. I'm looking forward to getting home and getting back into a regular groove. I really haven't enjoyed the running down here on this trip. Too much traffic and people. I like a little more laid back atmospher while in enjoy a run.

6 more miles up the trail and back. Went at 1 p.m. and it was pretty warm. Now to start getting ready to fly home.

6.5 mile morning loop in GS. Back home, and back to the grind big time. Wrestling started on Monday so today will be my first day at practice. From now through the middle of Feb is where getting in miles becomes very interesting.

6.15 mile run this afternoon. I finished up with work stuff at around 2 p.m. and had an hour and 15 min's to eat lunch (I was starving) and do a run. All before wrestling practice started. So I drove to Mik'L's mom's house because it was close and I ate a can of raviolli then did a run through Bloomington Hills over to the trail that goes over to the Dixie Center and then back on the river trail.

I finished up with just enough time to drive over to the high school and get parctice going. A long day overall. I can't pull this off for the next three months- that's for sure.

7 mile run out and back into GS. The pluresy or whatever it is in my chest is feeling better than it was at the first of the week. That's the good new. The bad is that my left ankle or tendon is hurting. Don't ask my why- It's just decided it would start hurting me on Wednesday morning and has ever since. Hopefully it will work it's way out today.

6.15 mile loop this afternoon. Same run as Wednesday. This time I had my garmin to check how far it was. Google Earth was onlyl off .1 from my garmin.

My ankle/ tendon are around 65%. It is very sore to walk on but not as bad when I'm running. Other than when I'm pounding it on a harder surface.

My pluresy/ chest pain is day to day. The mornings it hurts but really not too bad. In the afternoons like today it just kills. I couldn't get faster than 7 min pace at any part of this run today because of the discomfot in my chest.

So it must sound like I'm a problem child and that I have all these issues... I don't know what is going on. One week ago I was feeling amazing. Furthermore I don't know where all this has come from so I'm hoping it will just pass through and move on the the next guy.

7..8 mile run this morning. Up into GS and hit the trail to the powerline and then back down into Middleton. Not a bad run. Chest really didn't hurt at all ( I just took it easy), and my ankle was sore but doable for the run.

6.5 mile run up around GS. Felt good tonight- even after a long day of work and wrestling. Chest pain was very minimal. The ankle/tendon hurt a little more but better than it has been.

Big run today. This morning when we met up we had no idea where we would go to. We remembered that Dave and his runners would be doing a run-a-thon at the PVHS track. So we ran the T'bone trail over to the water tank and down into GS then on the the high school. We said hi to the runners there and then started back down to the Dixie Center. I thought that it was going to be hard regardless of what way we went back so we might as well loop the hill and see where we are at. It ended up being a little longer than everyone was looking for.

I was able to hold at least a sub 7min pace from the high school to the 20th mile, and then I made myself just relax back to the store.

Steve and I also picked it up around the 7th mile for a mile or so of tempo. As we came down out of GS we were rolling at 4:45 pace. I looked at my pace on the garmin and all I saw was the :45 and thought it was 5:45 pace. I said to myself "I feel like I'm running pretty fast for just under 6 min pace." Then I laid it down for anouther quarter and was somewhere around 4:36 or so until Steve wanted to back off. Good thing we did, because there was still a long ways to go.

Glad to get a long run in. I've felt like I needed one for a few weeks. It has just been really easy to talk myself out of it so far. Today I didn't have much time to think about it- so I just went along for the ride. This run should give me a good base to taper off and get ready to race the half next week.

Chest pain was gone this morning. The ankle/tendon was still sore... but like the rest of the week I just went out and ran on it- for better or worse.

8 mile morning run. It rained a little last night so I wanted to run the trail. When I left the house it was dark and I made my way up through GS to where the trail takes off back to the powerline. It was a nice morning out. The desert always smells so clean, and good after a little water comes down.

10 mile run this afternoon. We finished up with work around noon today and so after lunch I had time to get in a good little run before practice. I started from our office and ran down to the Dixie Center and hit the trail for the full loop up around Bloomington Hills and the post office and then I made my way back to the office. It was right on 10.05. I was suprised how close to 10 miles it was for just going out and running without looking at the course first.

Along the way up past the Dixie Center about one mile I saw a Turtle. A water swiming turtle here in the STG. I didn't know we had them here but I've seen this guy twice, and I thought I saw one months ago but I thought my eye's were being fooled. No fooling here. We have the desert turtles and we have swiming turtles down by the river. Anyways that's my STG National Geographic for the day.

Total time on the afternoon run was 1:08:20.

8 mile morning run. It was dark out and I find it crazy that there are Christmas lights up around the town. Even Christmas tress up inside peoples houses. Is it too early or is it just me.

7 mile run this afternoon. Did a run from the running store down to the softball fields and then did a couple big loops on the grass there and finally made my way back to the store.

8 miles real early this morning. I woke up at 3:30 and couldn't go back to sleep so after tossing and turning for what seeed to be forever I got out of bed at 4:45 and went out. I've got a big day planned with everything else in life so I may not get any more in today- and if so not much.

Didn't get back out. Just drained by the end of the day and I'm starting to get a little cold or flu. So I'm in bed by 8 p.m tonight.

Woke up feeling a little groggy from the night but made myself get out. It's starting to feel more like November... 45 degrees this morning, still not bad at all. The run was o.k. I need to get through this week with some of the work projects we have going on.

I'll be runing the half marathon this weekend but for some reason I'm not too thrilled about it. I have been getting in some pretty good miles but my lack of tempo paced runs is going to kill me.

6.5 mile GS Loop. Nice and easy the whole way until the last mile and then I just pushed out whatever I could. I didn't have wathch on but should have been around 5:30-5:40 pace back on that mile.

1.2 mile warm up

7.8 miles of the race

3 miles of cool down

7.2 miles at home to go blow of a lot of steam!

The race turned out to be a joke. I was rolling and feeling good. Then a race official told me to turn around at the worng spot. I asked them three times "Are you sure" and they said " yes, good job." So I did and then about two miles later I figured it out and then was just ready to start cloths lining people as I made my way back to the finish. These races in STG are a joke... don't waste your time coming down for this trash.

Anyways I ran my race miles at an 5:23 pace. That's with totally pulling out of race mode once I figured out they had sent me the wrong way. I was so mad. Mistakes like this shouldn't be made.

I have no question in my mind that I would have won. When I doubled back the closest runner to me was about 40-45 seconds back and I was just getting into it.

Big thanks to the STG Leisure Center for blowing another running event. I think they have it out for me they've jacked me up so many times. Boo to you.

Did a run before we took off to northern Utah. This was the hardest run I've ever had. From first step to last. I know I didn't run the whole half on Saturday but I did hit the first 5k in 14:50 (a PR) and I think that first three mile is what jacked me up. I'm sore like I got jumped by a bunch of thugs. Like deep tissue sore.

Got up at 4:15 so I could go run with Sasha at 5 a.m. Those guys don't mess around about getting up in the morning. We did the first 6 or so easy and then started a tempo. I knew that with these sore legs it was going to be trouble. So my plan was to bail out at 2.5 miles into the tempo when Sasha turned around. It almost worked. I had to slow the pace down at 2 miles into the tempo. My quads hurt like never before. Then it felt good to just finish the run at easy pace. Now we are off to SLC to a wedding. I'm not sure I've ever mentioned this before on the blog... but I'm not a big northern Utah fan. Too cold, too many crazy people, and not enough color in the rocks and dirt.

12 mile run this morning from Orem up to Provo canyon and back. I was going to go with Sasha this morning... but I just couldn't do get up at 4:15 a.m again. So I slept in until 8 a.m and then went. The run ended up being right at 7 min mile pace.

Good run. Legs are slowly getting over the soreness.

I didn't really want to go this morning. It was 11 degrees first thing this morning, 22 by the time I got up (8 a.m.), and 31 when I went out. So not too bad considering how cold it was early on. I did the Teasdale loop the I do when I'm up here in Torrey. Other than I extended it down past the Morrel farm and back into town past the old lower field. Pace for the run was 7:03 min mile. I just tried to stay relaxed and enjoy the run. The altitude was an issue today. I felt like I was really out of shape... and I know I'm not in peak shape but all things considered I'm not too bad. Started at around 6,850 and climbed to around 7,400. All that with the three extra layers of cloths and I was wanting to cut it short. But in the end I'm glad I got out and got some miles in.

Now it's almost time to do the turkey thing. Then we will drive back home today.

6.1 miles this morning on the treadmill.

I started to get a small cold last night. So I stayed in this morning to try and minimize the effects. Family in town so busy... but hope to get out this afternoon too.

8 mile run this afternoon. I waited around until it got warm. 60 degrees by 2 p.m. The run was yhingly and blamped. I was just glad to get it in and be done. I've got a good head cold and sore throat. I'm hoping some warm Red Raspberry Tea will take the edge off tonight. However LSU losing just made my week so I could be sick for a few more day and still be happy.

Good run this morning with Logan. We met up at the running store at 8 a.m and headed out. I thought I'd take him on a local favorite over to the T'bone trail and up past the water tank on turkey farm road, then over the trail to Winchester Hills and back down the marathon course to the store.

We took off and I could tell my sickness (head cold) was still a factor. As we ran and talked I was way short on breath, but the body felt fine. The first 7.5 miles are a pretty good climb, in fact you don't stop climbing until around mile 9 just above the Ledges Golf Course. By the time we finally got to the top I could tell that both of us were ready to be going downhill rather than up. We made our way over the golf course and hit the paved road down into town. Now we started to lay some tracks. Our five or so mile splits down to the store were:

1. 5:34

2. 5:19

3. 5:43

4. 5:32

5. 5:13- this was only a half mile time pace. However we started into the faster pace about a half mile before the actual fist mile of tempo. So it ended up being pretty close to 5 miles at temp type pace.

Not crazy fast but a pretty good workout. Those first 7-9 miles were not easy. We kept a pretty good pace on those as well. I was glad to get this kind of workout in. It's been a while. It was fun running with Logan and trying to recruit him into moving down here. It would be nice to have Logan down here to help push Dave, and I.

After we got to the store we did around .7 mile cool down around the parking lot.

Now that I'm done for the week I can go take a bunch of cold medication and spend the rest of the day on the couch watching two good football games. BYU vs. Utah and Kansas vs. Mizz- should be fun.

10.8 miles this morning. I went out and did the same run as last Monday. But in reverse. From the house over to GS around the outside- Up on the trail to the water tank- down turkey farm road to industrial park and then back home.

I felt o.k. but a %100 better than last week when I was sore from the Snow Canyon thing.

9.2 miles this afternoon. Up to power line and down into GS- back the long way. Afternoon was nice and I went out in short and t'shirt- not bad for the end of November. I also wore a pair of wore out shoes (my old speedstars) because they are lite. Bad choice because there is nothing left and I had a sore arch after. Dumb! Then after the run I went to wrestling and did all the stuff for basically my third workout for the day.

11.75 miles this morning. About the same run as yesterday. I just ended it longer. Left foot arch was sore from my bad shoe choice yesterday afternoon. I'll have to ice it an hopefully stop it before it gets bad. Other than that the run was pretty good. It was a little cool the first three or so miles but then warmed up pretty good.

9.2 miles this afternoon. Same loop as Monday afternoon. Arch on left foot was very sore. It forced me to run very easy and soft on me feet. Then about the last three miles it started to feel o.k. After the run I went to practice and came home and iced my foot for an hour before bed.

14 mile morning run. From the house down past fire station then up the dirt trail to the Middleton power line. Took that all the way over to the water tank and down into industrial, then down the the Y' split on Middleton Dr. and back home. Right on 14 miles with all that. Foot was sore for the first 2.5 down past the fire station then once I hit the dirt I didn't feel it again the rest of the run.

8 miles this afternoon. Regular power line/ GS loop. Run felt good. The foot had minor pain.

11.75 miles this morning. Same loop as I did Tuesday morning. Foot still has a small amount of pain but it should be on it's way out. Other than that the run was good. Starting to get wore out on this week. Now I leave today at noon for wrestling road trip. Tonight we wrestle at Wayne High School (my alma mater) and then drive to Panguitch on Friday for a two day tournament there. I'm not sure what running I'll get in but I hope to get out a couple time on the trip.

7.6 mile run this afternoon. I had the bus drop me off in Loa on the way to wrestle Wayne and then I ran on in to the high school.

I had the bus drop me off outside of Panguitch and I ran in. This run was horrible. I felt pretty good but just as the bus drove off I got slapped in the face by a 25-30 mph headwind and it pounded me every step into town. I really hate running in the wind.
