No running today. It snowed all night in Panguitch and I didn't have time to run anyways. The wrestling team did a good job. We put five guys into the finals and won four of them... on our way to a team title. So that was nice to see these kids win. We even had a couple of our Varsity seniors out, so hopefully we can get everyone healthy as we move deeper into the season.

8 mile morning run. Up to power line and down around GS. It was cool but very nice this morning. After all the rain this weekend the sand trail was nice and packed, and made for a very nice run. I got scared by a pack of coyote's that started howling right off the trail, right by me. I never did see them but when they started howling it was so sudden it caught me off guard.

After reviewing my yearly totals I found I only need around 270 miles for the month of December to hit 4,000 miles for 2007. So I guess I'll try it. Normally this wouldn't be too hard- however I am right in the middle of wrestling and it's work to get out and get miles in. So hopefully I can squeak that off and then take a little break around the first of the year before getting back into it to be ready for Del Sol.

8 mile loop up into GS and back the long way. I ran in my new Asics Stratus (Royal). They felt great. It's so nice to run in new shoes. Like ten times less taxing on the body. 6:27 min mile pace.

8 mile morning run. Regular old GS loop.

10 mile run this afternoon before practice. I left from the high school and ran down to the Dixie Center and did that loop through Bloomington Hills and then back to the high school. The loop was 9.5 and I did it at 6:23 min mile pace. Also I was trying out a new pair of blue Cumulus. They felt great. Once back at the school I did a couple laps on the grass field to cool down.

10.8 mile morning run. Big Powerline GS, Industrial loop. I felt kind of slow and sore this morning. No watch.

9.4 more miles this afternoon. Almost the same run as yesterday. No watch so I could just relax and enjoy the run instead of trying to beat my time from the day before.

Bigger run this morning before I take off for the weekend on another wrestling road trip. The run wasn't good or bad just there. Left hip has hurt for the last week. So this weekend I'll ice and IB it to try and fix the problem.

In Ogden and wrestling stuff all day, no time to run. Also snowing outside.

Stormy outside and wrestling at Roy High. Then over a 7 hour trip home because of the snow and a very slow bus driver.

7 miles this morning on the treadmill. I was sick all day on Sunday and questioned the run this morning. I got up and felt o.k. but decided that staying inside would be the best option. I may end up using the treadmill more now through the cold part of the winter.

7 more miles on the treadmill. I started watching season 2 of Prison Break to pass the time. I'm still packing around a little head cold so the inside running won't hurt me.

7 miles this morning on the treadmill again. Prison Break kept my mind off the run. Felt a little crabby this morning. I need to shake this sickness as soon as possible.

7 miles this afternoon on the treadmill. More Prison Break. I think I might be starting a pattern for the rest of the week.

7 miles on the treadmill and another episode and a quarter of Prison Break. I put it up to 12% incline and was going to do it for like 2 miles..... but just over .25 miles into that I was passing out and had to drop it back down again.

8 miles this afternoon. Went up on the power line/ GS loop. It felt good to get outside and off the TM. Nice and sunny out but there is still a chill in the air. I think it is around 45 out right now. My body just keeps acting like it's cold. Even though the summer is long and hot I've decided I like it a lot better than winter. But I really like fall and spring.

7 TM miles this morning. Blah Blah Blah!

9 mile run this afternoon after work. Pretty good run. I just kept it low key and ran what felt good. Went up to Power line and over to water tank through industrial and back the long way. Clipped off a couple of 6 min/miles on easy effort coming down into the industrial park and then coasted home at 6:30 pace.

7 miles on TM with Prison Break. When I got up this morning there was no way I wanted to run. But I turned Prison Break on and was glued there. That show is pretty addictive.

No running today. We had our wrestling tournament here in STG. For the first time in my 6 years of coaching I got into it with an referee and he tossed me out. It was actually pretty fun. I told him I wasn't going anywhere and we argued for a while and then I just decided to go out for a while before I said some really nasty stuff. I came home and an hour later my wife called and said that I could come back as long as I stayed up in the head table. Anyways an interesting way to end a long weekend. I'm just so tired of all the bad calls they make and there is no accountability for them.

I guess that's one reason I really love running events. Because the kids and only the kids decide the outcome. Sure there are a few officials to make sure we follow the rules but there are no judgment calls that someone can screw up.

I finally started to feel better and get this bug out of my body that has been kicking around for the last two weeks. So this morning I thought I'd go outside instead of the treadmill. I'm glad I did. It was a nice morning and I would have only been able to handle around 7 miles inside on the TM.

I did the GS/Power/Watertank/Industrial loop. I just kept it nice and easy and tried to ease into the week. I ended up feeling really good all the way through the run.

7:29 min/mile pace for the run.

I need to hit 67.5 miles for this week and next to hit 4,000 by the end of the year. So most likely just do just that. I may do a little more this week if time permits so I can have it easy next week.

7.2 miles this afternoon before wrestling. Left the high school and headed over to River Road down to the trail. Then over through Bloomington Hills to the trail that goes to the Dixie Center. Then back up to the school. Nice little run. I hit one mile at 5:30 pace just to get the wheels moving and then just ran the rest easy. Whole run was right at 6:30 min/mile pace.

11 miles this morning. Same run as yesterday. No watch today- I just ran on feel. Anyways another nice morning here in the STG. The temp at my house when I left was 43. I can do 43 but not 33. Good run.

12.4 mile run this morning. I got a really good nights rest last night (finally) and slept in until almost 8 a.m. So I didn't get out until a little later than normal. It was misty and off and on with rain. At first I thought it would end up being a horrible run because of the wet and mud but it never got that bad. I tried to stay on the paved roads and not so much on the trails to stay out of the mud.

I went up past the fire station and over the new overpass in Washington, then down through Dogtown and a mini loop in GS and back around through Middleton and home.

Just ran it smooth and easy at 7:05 pace for the run.

8 mile run this morning. I went out for 11 or 12 and at the cut off talked myself into coming home early. So now I'll go out again this afternoon sometime. My left hammy was hurting all night and it hurt on the run today so I'll ice/use the stick and hope it feels better later.

Didn't get out again. I had a mild set back. While going down some stairs I rolled my ankle pretty good. Well actually about as bad as I've ever rolled it. Now we will see how good I can heal.

10.8 mile run today. After last nights ankle thing I'm just glad to have gone out. When I woke up this morning I couldn't walk without assistance from a wall or something else to hold on to. I milled around the house for a few hours cleaning and stuff and it started to feel a little better but still very sore. But I told myself I needed to get out. So I went out and just took it very easy. The first two miles where pretty painful and right in there I almost turned back but just after two miles or so I must have go use to the pain or it stopped hurting. Because I went on to have a really good run after that. It didn't hurt much at all. So I'm guessing it will tighten back up this afternoon and evening but I'll hit it with some good IB and ice.

16.1 mile run this morning with Logan and Dave. Bill and Mike started out with us and then we split. Loop up into Coral Canyon and back. 6:45 min/mile pace for the run. Very nice running with those guys and getting out this morning. Even though Dave said it was 22 degrees or something before we started. It soon warmed and was quit nice. Now we are off to Vegas to watch the bowl game BYU vs. UCLA part II. It should be fun and cold.

GS/Power/Industrial loop x-tended around Middleton. Ran easy and tried to shake out the two trips to In and Out burger this weekend in Vegas. It sure doesn't feel like Christmas eve. Joy to all on the blog family.

Up to Power/GS and home the long way. Nice run this afternoon. My body is needing it. I've been a food consuming machine the last few days and I need to burn stuff off. I went out in shorts with a jacket on up top. It was pretty nice out with just a little wind and nip in the air. Good Christmas run.

Marriement to all.

4 miles this morning on the treadmill.

(stratus 42.6)

Good workout today. Left the house and ran down the the gas station and under the freeway down past Costco to where the trail runs along the river. Took that down to River Road and circled over the bridge and then down around Bloomington hills to the Dixie Center. That was 9.2 miles in 1:00:08 right at 6:30 min/mile pace. Then I did another .8 cool down while Mik'L was finishing her run.

Felt good and actually wanted more when the run was done... but it will have to wait until another day because I've got to spend some time on my PSP playing Tiger Woods PGA Golf 2008 that I got for Christmas.

Enjoy the Holidays!

A version of my old big loop trail. Up to powerline and over to Middleton trail then down through GS and back home. I just took it easy and tried to stay warm in the cool breeze. I wore my heart rate monitor today because I did this run one year and one day ago with an avg. heart rate of 164. Today I ended up going only going 10.6 instead of 11.2 but it was pretty much all the same. Today's avg. heart rate was 144. I'm not getting really excited about my shape but last year I was also about 157 lbs and today I'm 150 so hopefully even with a week off next week I'll be starting the year in a lot better overall shape and be ready to hit it hard in 2008 to steal a few PR's.

I wasn't going to get out today because of some work stuff but some things fell through and it gave me time for a little run.

I did the Powerline/Industrial park loop. The first three and a half up to the water tank were just easy as I tired to get moving. Then on the oil road I really got into a nice groove and was moving right along. One of the best smooth paced runs I've had this winter. I wish I would have wore the garmin to see what was going on. Instead of wearing pants or tights I just went in short and it feels way better. The freedom of the legs is a must for a good run.

Well today was the day. I finally crossed the 4,000 mile mark for 2007. It's kind of cool because last year I ran pretty strong and only hit 2,663. This year was very good to me and my running. I was able to stay healthy for the most part, and that helped me stay on track to see some big improvements. Next year I'm not going to strive to hit 5,000 miles for the year. I'm just going to try and run at least one more mile than I end up with in 2007. If I can train at lest that well I'll have a good year. I'd like to replace my 100 mile weeks with 120's and bring a lot more tempo work in. I may catch a run on Monday but after that I'm hitting my scheduled "time off" for the year. I figure I'll take next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off completely from running and the do something short on Saturday. This should give me the time to prepare mentally and physically for what lies ahead.

Todays run was good. I was going to meet the club at 7 a.m but couldn't do the cold and early morning so I slept in until 10:30 (it felt so good) and then went out on my old "big loop" up Mill Creek, over the powerline, down through industrial, and back home the long way through Middleton. Took it easy and then ran the last 4.5 at just under 6:30 min/mile pace. Nothing fancy just enough to get the blood flowing.

A short run to finish off 2007. Now I'll start my official rest phase for the next four days and do No running until Saturday. However I will get a good workout in every day.
