38.7 mile ride in 2:00:57 or 19.1 mph avg this morning out to the airport then back around sunriver/ bloomington/ b-hills. Left the house right before daybreak. Froze my butt off, actually feet and face. Didn't try and ride hard just wanted to get the time in. Had big ski gloves on so the hands were warm but bike control and feel were low. Got home and my feet were really numb. From the tips of my toes down to about the arch it was just a dead spot. Changed cloths and shoes and headed out for the run.

7 mile run around the middle B-hill loop then extended through the Secret st. The first 1.4 miles were really weird with the frozen/ thawing feet. Didn't ever hurt but just felt really weird.  7:19 avg as I just took it EZ and tried not to aggravate any of my injuries. Things felt pretty good but the hip did tighten up around mile 5.

1 hour on the elliptical. Groin hurt too bad to do anything else today. Wasn't really into training anyways. Got through 2.7 PTI shows only fast forwarding through most of the NBA conversations.

Ran the fields tempo loop extended one block to hit an even 13. But no tempo miles. Actually hit a 7:01 avg but the effort felt much harder. Kind of a frustrating run because I thought I was doing much better than this. Plus I got home and was 153.5 lbs after the run so about 3.5lbs too heavy. Calves were really tight by the end and hip/groin hurt throughout around a 6.

1 hour on the spinner. Mondayed it with a very slow get go and then pretty solid on the second half.

8 running miles pushing Myler in the jogger into B-hills and back. Super nice day. 78F and sunny. Just feeling blessed to live where I do. The home yes but more so the country, state and city. Dicks bbq about 70 min's before the run isn't a great idea... mental note.

1 hour on the spinner. Consistent grind throughout the ride. Had to stop 20 min's into the ride and pour Myler a bowl of Cheerios w/ tall glass of whole milk. Then back to the spinner.

12 mile run while Myler was in pre school. DC loop and extended back into B-hills on the inner river trail then back to River Road. Felt so so for the first 6. Felt good to 10 then the last 2 miles were hard. 7:13 avg. My running is seriously in a different world right now. Groin/ab/ thigh pain was very high a long with super sore calves... I'd be hard pressed to run a 1:30 half. Ugh... I can only dream about what running pain free feels like.

Early morning run with the Circle of Trust. Good to get out with the guys. A good run with them and their smiling faces can lift the mood when your down.  No watch but the pace was slowish. Body felt pretty rough but I'm glad to have gotten a run in and early so the rest of the day can be recovery.

Had a crazy morning of "tri" training. Started out with a planned 2 or so hour ride. Ended up running into Mark Larsen who I'm told is the best cyclist in STG and one of the best in Utah. I passed him lol... about 1 mile after starting then 2 miles later he passed me. I then realized it was him. So I road up aside and introduced myself and asked to tag along. So out to Sand hollow we road chit chatting a long the way. It was fun to pick his brain about things. I had to turn around early to get back and do a run then pick up Myler. So at 20 miles out I flipped it (basically right at the lake entrance). Road solid back until I came into Washington and I got my first flat tire. Of all the days. I needed every second on my clock to get everything done before 11:30 to pick up the boy. So I changed the tire and lost about 7 min's but though it was still doable. Then started riding about a block and the new tube "blew up". Dang it! Now I'm in a situation. Started walking and hitchhiking but no luck. Finally called my wife and luckily she hadn't left for Vegas yet. So she was able to come pick up the bike and bring my running cloths. 35 mile ride before the flat.

8.6 mile run. I changed cloths in the truck then headed out for the run. Mik'L had taken the jogger to Myler's preschool so I could run there and then bring him home in it. So I was able to get in 3.9 miles before he was done with school then another 4.7 from school back home.

So after all the drama I only lost 5 miles of riding and .8 miles of running from my original plan. But the extra stress made it feel like much more. I've been dreading the flat tire thing... It sucks.

60 min's on the spinner

30 min's on the elliptical

Everything seemed hard this morning. I had no gas in the tank. Had planned to do an hour of each but was done after 10 min's on the elliptical. Hung in for another 20 but then was more than happy to call it.

Fields tempo loop. 6:45 avg. A little bettter run than the last couple Saturdays running this same route. Hip was pretty tight but the legs seemed to turn over better. Never pushed the pace but kept it honest throughout. Seemed to hold up ok. By the last couple miles I was done. Colder this morning at 36 F. But no frost yet...

DC loop via Secret Street. Coldest morning so far this season. Actually it's about as cold as it get baring super cold spells. 25 F on the Little Valley web site and 27 F here at home. Wore tights, hat, gloves and an extra base layer on top. Ended up having plenty of cloths on. Evey year I have to remember the cold weather calibration for dressing on runs. Hip hurt around a 7 but everything else felt pretty good. The good thing about cold weather is that your body feels less pain (after you get going). Kind of like wearing an icepack on the injury.

Super painful run. I have good and bad ones. Today about killed me off. Hip started really grinding 5 miles into the run, by 8 I was totally done but still had 4 miles to get home. Couldn't walk because I had be be home in time to pick up Myler at preschool. Just dug it out. Pain every single stride. Really having a hard time pulling the left foot through the stride.

Oh well with the way things look on the news "training" may be something of the past for me anyways.

Chilly run this morning with the lads. 29 F. Pace was slowish but conversation was chatty. Enjoyed getting out with the Circle and that my hip was much better than yesterday. Still hurt but wasn't like death the whole run.

60 min's on the elliptical.

Just felt super hurt and banged up this morning. Tired of fighting the pain. So I bagged any running and just hit the machines. Still struggled to get through the 2 hours.

DC loop. Hip and groin pain were doable today and temps were up. So I went out on the streets. Felt ok through about 6 but then the dang hip started hitching and it kind of bugged all the way back home. My body is a freaking mess right now and my shape is awful.

Body just hurt too bad to run today. Actually with all the achyness I didn't want to do anything. So I slept in and then took Mik'L down to Vegas for the day so she could work with her dad. Finally made it through this long month and then some as today was the last day of FLP!

Pretty solid hour on the spinner. My hip, inner thigh and now hammy are just too sore to muster a run. My body is failing me... at the Dr's office the other day he said "maybe your just getting old".

Went out for a ride this morning while Myler was at preskool. Left the house at 8 a.m and it was 36F. Yep I froze. The sun was coming up and once I got out to Keyenta at mile 30 I stopped and took my jacket off but my feet never warmed and actually went numb. My hurt leg showed more signs of weakness as it didn't "hurt" but has only about half the output of my other leg. By the middle of the ride I was getting frustrated with the whole issue. But I was glad to get a good longish workout in... burn some calories. 19.4 avg mph. Not the fastest ride as I just didn't see a need to push, was cold, and wasn't whole.

Big boys run this morning. Had the Circle, Stephen and Billy boy out today. After not running for a few days I felt like hitting the road again. Hip felt so so. Not super sore like the end of last week but not great. Started to get pretty tight by then end. Still a good run with the guys. Logan even pulled his shirt off the last 5 miles with temps around 35F. That's one hairy dude.

My hardest ride yet. Left early so I could get in  a longish burn before the feast. Decided to head out to Gunlock then Veyo and do that loop. Hit 20 miles just after crossing the river before the Gunlock turnoff. Was basically right at 20 mph avg to there. Then the trouble started. Once I turned North on the Gunlock road I hit a NASTY head wind that sometimes would come back as a cross wind. It really beat me to death. I wanted to turn around every half mile. In the second hour of my ride I only covered 13 miles and worked way harder than on the first 20. True there are some good climbs but even on flat or slight downhills I had to keep it in an easier gear just to keep moving forward. It was just brutal all the way to Veyo where I turned south. I thought at least now I'll catch a ride with this tailwind back to town.... I did have a good tail wind up Veyo hill and it felt super EZ. Then up Dammeron the wind started to shift and by the time I got to the marathon halfway point I was in another headwind. Ugh! I just worked my butt off to get home in time to go to the family dinner. Figured the wind coast me about 35 extra min's. So by the time I got home I was truly hammered. Oh and I'd only taken 10 oz of gatorade with no Gu or fuel. Got off my bike and hobbled in the house then collapsed on the kitchen floor. The pie later was well deserved.

Had a full house and busy day planned so no run today. We had a T' time at Sand Hollow at 8:54 a.m and I figured with golf and shopping I'd just recover from yesterdays ride.  Beautiful day out on the course sunny and a high of 68 F. By the turn I had only shorts and a short sleeve shirt on.

Got up before the rest of the house (other than my uncle) and did the DC loop. Felt so so through 6 but the last 4 miles seemed pretty hard and the run just lasted forever. I'm depressed in the fact that a 10 mile run has become so hard. It seems like for years I've ran a 20 miler every Saturday just because. Now that seems like death.

1 hour on the spinning bike at normal effort

1 hour on the elliptical

Watched the movie Tom Sawyer and Myler was in there watching with me. He said "Daddy what's that boys name".  I said Tom. "He said "I would want to get in that movie". Meaning he wanted to get in the TV and play with Tom on the banks of the Mississippi.

10.2 miles running with the guys this morning on the DC loop. Felt horrible. Pain level was an 8.5 or higher all run. Along with the normal aches of the right hurt ankle, and my left side (abs, thigh, hip and hammy). I've also developed something new. Saturday night I went to sleep and woke up Sunday morning with plantar fasciitis  on the left foot. Can barely walk on the sucker. Or maybe a bone spur on the left heel? Nonetheless my body is just falling apart. So I just worked like a dog to get through the run this morning. Could have bagged it but I feel jacked not running too... so I might as well get out with the guys here and there to keep up on the social side of life.

Came home and got on the spinner for 30 mins to try and loosen up. Energy output was low. Just didn't have any juice in the legs. It's hard mentally because I just think I can go do whatever I want to and now with my new broken body I can't do anything. Big paradigm shift.

Brick workout this morning. I felt 50% better out of the box this morning. Not sure why the pain was so bad yesterday or much better today. I do know that post ab workouts I feel much more pain. So maybe I'll have to let my 6 pack slide.

40.2 mile bike ride at 20.3 mph avg. Semi hard effort. Didn't relax much but didn't go into all out mode either. Out around SunRiver, Tonoquint, Green Valley then back basically the same way. Lots of hills throughout the entire ride. But nothing  crazy long.

8.1 mile run after the ride. I tried a couple things. First a new pair of Hoka running shoes. Until now I've laughed at people wearing them and if I were not injured I still would. But the extra cushion seems to really help all my aches and pains. So although heavier, none racey, and super dorky looking- they may just help me get more TOFR (time on feet running). I also decided to totally forget about pace, speed and the like. Just be happy to be running. Still felt some aches and pains and it would have been better to cut the run shorter- like around 6.5 or so. But all things considered I really had a good day of training.

Out the door on the bike at 8 a.m sharp back home after the run and in the shower at 11:02 a.m. Then hit up Cafe Rio for some big time calorie replacement.
