| | 6.5 in the morning 8.2 in the afternoon The weather was just amazing by 8pm tonight. Right around 90 maybe 89- it actually felt refreshing. I ran straight up from my house into the reserve- then hit the main trail over to the water tank- then back down through the industrial park and around to home. Feeling really blessed this week because I want to do 90 miles this week and the weather is making things nice. I don't know if I could do it at 105+ every day like it has been, this extra 10 degrees cooler or so makes it soo much easier to get out and do the miles. | Comments(1) |
| | 6.5 morning run 7 mile afternoon run I felt really sluggish tonight. Just low on energy- I slept bad the night before and had a long day at work. Hope to eat well tonight and get some rest to get ready for the miles I have planned for the last part of the week. | Add Comment |
| | 9 in the morning 9 with the club tonight We left the park and went south down by St. George Ford and then around the black hill up to Bluff and down Triangle St. and then over to the park. Feeling trashed before we started but then a few miles into it felt better. | Comments(2) |
| | 6.5 a.m 5 p.m Saw anouther turtle out on the trail. | Add Comment |
| | Ran from above Leeds to my house. Good weather, pretty good run. One long hill then around a 10 mile drop into St. George. Felt a lot better than I thought I'd feel. Everyone seemed to run without problems. Tempo pace for about 4.5 miles around the end of the run. | Comments(1) |
| | I just could not drag myself out of bed this morning. So I'll have to make up the miles later this week. Just went out at 7p.m. it was about 98 degrees, but the breeze in the air made it feel a little better. I felt really stiff- this being the first run since Saturday. Not sore like I hurt- just stiff like everything is tight and I need to go slow. | Add Comment |
| | 9 a.m. run 9 p.m run Nothing worth mentioning. Ran the same loop from my house up the freeway to the new overpass in Washington then back down through Washington back home. blah | Comments(1) |
| | 6.5 a.m. loop 6.7 p.m. speed work Tonight I went to the track with Mik'L to do some 800's. We show up and the high school football team was having a practice game with the lights on and around 100 people in the stands, so I decided to give them a real show. Each 800 I ran was a little slower than it should have been due to me having to run around people on the track. I had planned on doing 5 but the last two I did the congestion just kept getting worse so I only did 4x800 with 800 jog in between. 2 mile warm up- mile and some cool down. 1- 2:31 1:17/1:14 2- 2:30 1:17/1:13 3- 2:35 1:20/1:15 4- 2:35 1:18/1:17 Pretty good workout. I need to find a lonesome track to do speed work. I'm not really into running with a bunch of football players, coaches, officials, and parents watching me. | Comments(6) |
| | 7 miles a.m. 8 miles p.m. Ran with the club tonight. Feeling a little run down. I'm ready to get this week over. | Add Comment |

| | Ran with the club this morning. Went out and drove most of the course and then google earth the rest and it was pretty close to what I have. Pretty good run. We started early in the morning so it wasn't too hot. | Add Comment |
| | 6.5 miles a.m. 8.5 miles p.m. Did a easy morning run. Felt really relaxed and fresh from the rest day. Pushed the pace of the morning run from the halfway point back home. Meet with Steve tonight for a speed workout at the track. A side note- I ate a thick PB and honey sandwich about 2 hours before the workout and thought it would be good to go by the time we started… Well it spent most of the run trying to come back out. On the good side we showed up to a quiet, wind free track that was a lot more relaxing to run on than in front of all the football people. My wife came to time us, and she brought our little puppy to bark at us as we ran by. We ran 2 miles down to the track to warm up. Splits: 1. 2.29 1.14/1.15 2. 2.39 1.20/1.19 3. 2.36 1.21/1.15 4. 2.38 1.21/1.17 5. 2.38 1.19/1.19 6. 2.39 1.16/1.23 As one can see the first 800 was way too fast making us pay the price on the rest of the 8’s. One a good point my goal was to run all 6 under 2.40- and by the skin of my teeth I just made it. The temperature was 98 when we finished. There was no wind, which was nice for running, but not so good for cooling us off. The air was just sitting there stagnate and hot. Happy to have run my goal, although I feel if we’d have ran the first 800 slower we could have finished a little stronger. Overall a good workout, I need one of those a week to gear me up for St. George. | Comments(3) |
| | 6.5 miles in the moring 7 miles p.m. run Tonight went up the dirt trail above my house. To split of trail and over to the water tank then back down the road and over to the house. On a 5 day diarrhea problem. I haven't had too bad of a problem with it in my running career- this is the longest phase I've gone through and I feel it's not over yet. It's really starting to have an impact on me. So I'm going to give it a couple more days and then go see a Dr. about it. | Add Comment |
| | 6.5 miles in the a.m. 8.5 miles in the p.m. Had a good run tonight. Went up from my house to the water tank and down through the industrial park back over to my house. My mind and legs were playing tricks with me. Both of them said "we feel good- lets go faster" So I just kept running at a faster pace until I got to the last half mile and then I started to feel the effects, and I backed off and just costed in. Good day overall- and my stomach problems are starting to go away as well. | Comments(1) |
| | 5 miles in the a.m. 11 miles in the p.m. Meet with the club tonight. We went out around Webb Hill. It's starting to get dark faster and the run tonight felt cooler than it has been. Didn't plan on going that far but felt ok at the end. It's good to be out running with the guys- everyone seems to be running good and feeling healthy. It's been a while since things were that way. One of Dustins fellow teachers has come the last 2 weeks. I hope he finished o.k. | Comments(1) |
| | 6.5 a.m. 2 p.m. Did my morning run, and then took it easy tonight. Did a mile run out and back from my house. | Add Comment |
| | Ran with Dustin and Steve. We did a nice 12 mile loop around Sand Hollow Res. Then when we got back to the car I went out and back from a couple more. Felt like running tonight and went out and did a 8.5 mile loop up around the water tank and down through the industrial park. Felt really good tonight. Hope to taper off next week for the Hobble Creek Half. | Comments(2) |
| | 6.5 morning run 8.5 p.m. run Did speed on the track with Steve tonight. 2 mile warm up. then 6x800 with an 800 recovery between each one, and one mile cool down. Didn't go out to set any records. I was just trying to get a good speedwork out in and then taper off before Hobble Creek. Goal was to run all of them under 2:40 1. 2.39 1.24/1.15 2. 2.38 1.22/1.16 3. 2.36 1.18/1.18 4. 2.38 1.21/1.17 5. 2.31 1.13/1.18 6. 2.39 1.20/1.19 Only pushed it on the 5th one. I wanted to run the last two around 2.35 but went too fast on the 5th and then didn't care on the 6th. | Comments(1) |
| | Only did a run tonight. My legs feel like heavy hamburger. That speed workout on monday must have did a number on me... blah! Today I quit my job at the hospital. Things just were not going right with my expectations of a career there. After about 2 weeks of stress I just had to get out of there. Now... I have no job and do have bills to pay. But Mik'L is doing pretty good with our business and hopefully she can pick up the slack until I find something. It was a hard call to make to leave a career with intermountain health care, but I feel soo much better now that I've left, and I know I'll find something. | Comments(2) |
| | 5 miles in the a.m. 7 miles in the p.m. Legs feel better today that on Tuesday, but they still are very sluggish. Need to get some good rest and food in me the next couple of days. | Add Comment |

| | Hobble Creek Half. 4th place overall, 1st in age- 1:12.27 I think. Went out a little slower and had a hard time getting into a rythem. By mile marker 7 started feeling good and began hunting down people in front of me. Made sure I wasn't chicked this time. By 10.5 I felt like there was a storm building in my stomach...there was! Hopefully it would hold off until the finish. It did and then I spent some quality time in the port-a. Overall I was really happy with the race. Will run some tonight. | Comments(3) |
| | 7 miles in the morning 7 miles tonight Pretty sore from the race on Saturday. Just getting in some easy miles to try and get over it. | Add Comment |
| | Got up and ran 10 miles this morning. We are driving up to Provo today. I may get some more in tonight when we get up there. | Comments(1) |
| | Meet with Sasha and Ted at the crack of dawn. It was nice to meet Sasha in person. Pretty laid back run most of it around 7:30-7min mile pace. Sasha took me on his famous Slate Canyon Loop. It's a lot harder running it than reading about it. We will spend the day up here and then drive home this afternoon. I'll do some more miles tonight. Thanks Sasha. Got home and did a few more. My right knee was killing me- the same pain as before the race on Saturday. I may cut this week back and call it a rest week. | Comments(2) |
| | No running today. My knee was bothering me and it really stressed me out so I called it off today. I think it will be nice to rest, and heal from the race on Saturday. | Add Comment |
