I ran along 14th east to Blaine and up to 15th east to 21st south. Then I ran up to 21st east to St Marys and down to 19th east over to 13th south where I went down to 15th east. I went right instead of the usual left home and added on before turning around so I could hit 5 right at my house. I didn't ever stop and kept an 8:15 average pace.

Today we did 2 vertical laps , stretching, and drills. Then we did a bunch of core and weights in the weight room before running on 13th east to the Cemetery on 5th south. I did 3 laps, and I kept up with Bill, Dakota, and Garek on the first 2 laps but I think they all sped up on the 3rd. At the end of the run at the school we were barely over 4 miles so we did a bunch of laps around the school. Fun stuff.

Today we did 2 vertical laps then I led stretches and drills. Then we all went to the weight room to do a few things before running. We went to Liberty and did 10 sets of 1 minute on 1 off fartlek. Then we ran the big way around the park on the snow (which was super hard) and ran up the hill and added on a ton at the school.

Today after our vertical laps, stretching, and drills then instead of the weight room we went on a run. We ran along 13th east to Presidents Circle and around the flagpole. Then we went along 13th to Sugarhouse, ran in the road, then turned. I kept up with Tomy, Bill, and Dakota but at the last uphill in the park I fell off and missed the light. When I got back to the school I was told the run was farther. So yeah.

Today after the usual warmup, stretches, and drills, we went for a run. We ran along 13th east to Virginia St then up to 11th Avenue where we ran out until a point then we turned around and took Shriners back. We stayed as a pretty good group, only spread out a little along 11th Ave. Once we regrouped at the turnaround we stayed in a clump, then as we were going down the big hill I was feeling pretty good and Chris and I broke away from the group but he was going faster so pretty soon I was running alone with the group behind me. They caught up to me at the light on Sunnyside and we all ran down 9th south together. It was a pretty good run. Did I mention that it was blizzarding the whole time?

Today after the usual warmup, stretching, drills, core, and weights, we finally went on our run in 12 degree weather. We ran up 9th south to Greenwood Terrace over to Sunnyside and up to Foothill down 5th south. We were pretty strung out, but Bill, Dakota, and Sarah all caught up to me because I had to stop at the light. We did a lap in the cemetery and then 10 hills. I felt really sick and miserable, but I wanted to finish. Then we did another lap before heading back along 13th east. It was really cold and I was only a few minutes late for work. But I'm not letting that happen again because tonight was BUSY.

I love speed workouts on the treadmill! Said no one ever. I'm not allowed to run outside in this 10 degree weather, so after warmup, stretching, and drills, I went home to my dreadmill for some speed. I did 2 miles warmup, starting at 6.5 and going up to a 7.3. Then I hit the 10 button for my first 800 which was pretty painful, but I was able to maintain my pace. That's the one plus side of the treadmill, you can force yourself to hit your speeds and know that you're not slowing down or starting out too fast. Then I ran a REALLY slow quarter mile recovery. After my 2nd 800, I was feeling really sick, so I dropped down to a 9.6 for the 3rd and 4th. For the 5th one I went back up to a 10, but just before the 400 I dropped to a 9.5 because I was HURTING and sweating like none other. The dreadmill was at 5.5, so I did my last recovery as a full cooldown. Time to go eat food.

Did the usual warmup, stretching, and drills at the school. Then I ran around for 10 minutes with Sarah B and Graciela before going home to the dreadmill. After 4 on the dreadmill, I stopped because my legs were hurting so bad. So I went outside, got in the car, and went to SLRC to get some new shoes. Then I went back home and ran my last 3 miles and felt SO MUCH BETTER. It's gonna be slightly warmer tomorrow, so I'll be allowed to run outside :)

We ran along 13th east to Presidents Circle, past the flagpole to the Bookstore, over to Guardsman. We still needed alot so we ran up to 19th east and down 9th south, then we did a lap around the school for 4.5. I ran with Tomy and Chris the whole time and I felt pretty great.

Today was the Weber State Indoor Invitational. I ran the 3200, the 1600, and the anchor leg of the 4x800 with Sarah S, Megan, and Emma.

When I got there, they were already calling the 3200 girls to the bull pen, so I got about half mile worth of warmup and strides. I wore my flats for this race. I didn't get a good spot on the line, but as soon as the gun went off I took off and went right to the front to control the pack. Sarah went with me and ran on my right, and whenever someone made a move we both went. I stayed relaxed. After a few laps Sar fell off, and after the mile mark Melissa from Ogden moved and I fought but couldn't keep up. Then some more girls passed me and I ended up 4th overall. It hurt pretty bad that last 800. I did a short cooldown then took a nice long nap.

When I woke up I ran a warmup for the mile. I planned on getting a good start again because my 3200 start was spectacular. But I think some of the girls in the 1600 made a mental note of it, and my start wasn't as good, but it was still pretty amazing. I just had to mentally get through it because 8 laps is still a lot to me, even if they're shorter. I ended up 5th place.

I ran a little cooldown and got ready to go home, but then Emma wanted to put together a 4x800 team so Bill made a team from Sarah, Megan, Emma and I, in that order. We practiced some handoffs and did some strides to get ready. By the time Emma got the baton in the 3rd leg, we had already been lapped, so my goal was to catch the next girl in front of us. I had a lot of ground to make up, and I didn't catch her. I don't know what my time was, but hopefully I'll get that soon. Good job to my fellow ladies!

This morning I went out for my run. I ran up Sherman and 13th south to 17th east to Michigan and up to 2000 East. Then I went to Sunnyside and Foothill and ran the VA Loop to Guardsman and back to 9th south. I still needed more miles, so I went up to 2000 East again and back down Michigan to 17th E to 13th South and home. But I needed another half mile so I ran to Browning and back along 14th east. My thumbs froze.

Today after the usual warmup drills and stretching shenanagins we went down to Liberty to do 6 800s. We just stayed on the Northeast corner of the park, running between the mile and mile and a half marks. I wasn't hitting the times I was supposed to, and I don't think anyone was. Starting the 5th one, it was just Tomy, Chris, Dakota, Bill and I because everyone else was done at 4. After the 5th one we were told some good news: We were done! So we finished the lap around the park then went back to the school.

Today after all the track shenanigans we went out for our run. Instead of staying as a pack we all sortof strung out and went our own recovery pace. I stuck close to Tomy at a 7:20 pace the first 2 miles. We went along 13th east to Sugarhouse, ran a road lap then went up to 17th east for the cemetery run. I stayed with Tomy until Parkway, then I was on my own for the rest of the loop. When I got back on 17th east Tomy and Chris passed me because they had taken a wrong turn. I stayed with them down 21st south to 13th east and for about a block on 13th east, but I was dying and it's really hard to run in the slushy snow. When I got to East Bill and Sarah had caught up to me and we all ran a lap around the school together to be at 11.

Today after all the track stuffs we were getting ready for our outdoor run when I got a text from my mom saying my neighbor slipped and fell. See, we had frozen rain today, so everything is really icy. Lots of people ice skated to school today. So she didn't want me running outside and breaking my leg. When she picked me up we went to the grocery store, and I was allowed to run home on salted roads with no cars. So I zigzagged the salted/sanded non-busy streets and went back and forth on 14th east for 4 miles. Then I went inside and ran 4 more on the treadmill while I was still warmed up. Next I did weighted lunges, arm swings, and squats. Then I went upstairs for some crunches, planks, core yoga poses, and I even tried to do some good pushups. I can feel my abs hurting a bit, that's good. Food time.

I was in a group with Bill, Sarah, and Garek to hit 3:45s for our 1000s. Bill led our first one and we hit a 3:43. I felt pretty good so I wanted to lead the next one. We hit a 3:40. Garek led the next one and we hit a 3:44. Sarah led the fourth and we hit a 3:42. On the last one I couldn't tell who was leading since Bill and I were side by side, but we hit a 3:43 so that was good. We ran 7 laps for a cooldown to be at 10 miles for the day. When I got home I did my crunches and planks (since I can't do pushups).

Today was not a good day for me. I've been pretty sick this whole week and really tired. I can barely keep my eyes open as I type this. I couldn't make it to practice so I tried running on my treadmill later. I had to stop several times to breathe and try not to puke, because I could feel it coming every few minutes. And I was going SO SLOW. It was miserable. I decided I would focus on doing some weights and core, since those wouldn't make me almost throw up. I did 3 sets of 20 weighted lunges, 10 squats, and 15 calf raises. Then I went upstairs and did 3 sets of 40 crunches, 45 second planks, and I even tried a pushup. I felt really exhausted. I really need to just go back to bed.

I feel alot better than I was last week. After the usual drills and such we went on a run. I could either do the shorter run or the longer run depending on how I felt. We ran up 9th south to Foothill and I didn't feel too good. I fell off from the front group and when I got to the light by Corner Bakery, Megan and Daisa caught up to me, so I ran with them at a pretty decent pace. We ran up to the yellow gate at Red Butte and I wasn't up for going the longer way on JCC to Shriners, so I went down Legacy bridge with Megan, Daisa, and Dakota and across Guardsman back to the school. Then we did 6 800s with a lap recovery between each one. I was supposed to be hitting 2:55 with Bill, Sarah, and Garek, which probably isn't going to help me get better from being sick. Bill paced our first one at 2:55 and I paced our second one at 2:54. It all went downhill from there and I crashed pretty badly, my next 4 800s were 3:12, 3:27, 3:28, and 3:30. At the starting line we did several strides and then we started, but the clock didn't work so they had us come back and wait longer. Once we actually started I knew I shouldn't go out too hard because I didn't want to crash. Each lap I picked up my speed a little bit. I fell off the pack and was behind for a bit, but I picked them and passed them and caught quite a few of them by the end. My splits were 84, 2:50, 4:10, and 5:33. I'm too lazy to do the math but I'm pretty sure thats what I heard. I didn't have time to cooldown because I thought I had to be at work at 6:30. I started out not too fast, and about halfway through I decided that I just didn't care so I backed off a bit. I had so much junkfood yesterday because it was my birthday, but that's okay because I'm 18 now. I can buy dry ice. And hamsters. Anyways. We had our first outdoor meeting today and got all of our paperwork, and I'm an adult so I don't need a parent signature. Okay sorry I'll stop it with the adult jokes now. We ran along 13th east to the Cemetery and during our 1st lap I died and had to run by myself. I ran 3 miserable laps in the cemetery then headed back to the school along 13th because I had to be at work. My body hates me for beating it up so bad.

Today we ran down to Liberty and took the long way to the drinking fountain. Then we were to run 3 laps. I could not keep up! It was horrible! My whole body is completely worn out. It sucks. After 2 laps I had to stretch my hip because it was really hurting. Then I went the long way around the park to head up 9th south and back to the school. I don't know what the heck is going on with me but it's driving me insane.

CONSTISTENCY!!!

If you are more consistent in your workouts, or at least your miles you will feel loads better. I know it is hard when you have work, but you have the time with the light school schedule. Make it a priority to get in your miles now and it will pay off big in the next few weeks. Take Nike for this one- Just Do It.

Today we ran up 9th south to Foothill, over to Sunnyside, and up to Wasatch. I was struggling up to Foothill, but caught up to Dakota, John, and Emmaline at the light and had a minute to rest. I pushed hard up to Wasatch and once the run leveled out I was able to keep up with them. We ran to 13th south then down to 19th east over to 9th south and down. We sprinted the last block to try and catch Garek. I didn't feel very sick on this run, which is a really good sign.

Today we ran up to the track where we ran 1 mile warm up and 1 mile speed changes. Then we did our asphalt hill just west of the soccer field 10 times. Next was the run. I fell behind very quickly and could not keep up. At 13th south I felt really sick and decided to just run through it. But when I got to 17th south I still felt horrible so I stretched out my sore legs, took some deep breaths to make my tummy feel a little better, and ran back to East the same way, very slowly. I made it and went straight to the ladies room and then I felt better.

Yesterday I went on a college visit, and since the team was doing a workout and not just a run, I couldn't run with them. So that took away my running plan for yesterday. Today was our team time trials. I totally forgot to bring spikes and flats, so I ended up wearing my trainers, which really weighed my legs down. I did 2 miles warm up with Tomy and Chris and then a mile speed changes. It was windy down the home stretch, so I was not excited for that at all. On the first lap of the mile, Sarah took it out too hard at a 76. I then decided that it was a time trial and didn't really matter, plus I kept tripping over my trainers. So I backed off and relaxed to where my splits were 2:48, 4:28, and 6:10. I was also a little tight from not running yesterday. I ran a lap recovery and my butt really hurt. I really need to massage that and ice it, because it was pretty bad. Hey Susannah, I need a butt massage, teehee. For the 400 I hit a 78, so I knew my 76 earlier was better. Then again I was running slow because of the wind and the fact that I kept tripping over my heavy trainers. I'm pumped for Tuesday though, it'll be a nice day and I'll have lighter shoes. I did 2 laps cool down to be at 5 because I was in a hurry.

Today after all the warmup stretching drills and such we ran to the hill and did it 8 times. Then we ran over to Fairmont for 10 strides. I felt really good on the way down there, but after standing around for a few minutes my hip tightened up again and started hurting like it has been every day this week. It didn't loosen up all through strides. When we started running back along 9th east we were going to go down to Liberty for that extra mileage, and I fell behind and ran with Dakota and John. By the time we reached 13th south my hip still was really tight so we just kept going to 9th and up the hill. My Garmin said 8 while we were going up to the track, so we just walked the last little bit. When I got home I iced it a little but it hurts so much!

Today for the meet we got all set up, ran some laps, then stretched. I did my own warmup on the track, avoiding the 100M straightaway where they were doing hurdles and sprints. I helped time a few of them. When Tolbert fired the gun I went in the front and took control for a few seconds before Sarah took off. I didn't go with here because I didn't feel like running that fast the first lap. After the 800 mark I had caught up to her and passed her and ran my last 2 laps faster than my first 2. I finished with a 5:37. I jogged around for a few minutes and then stretched a little. I helped time a little bit and formed a Medley team with Sophie, Gui, and Madeline. Sophie and Gui ran fast 200s for us, getting us in 2nd place. Madeline kept that 2nd place spot close to the 1st place girl from the other team which made it easier for me to catch their 800 runner and help our team win. Thanks for sprinting fast ladies! :) I did a little bit of cooldown but had to hurry home because I know Susannah wanted to go shopping :) We had fun!

I ran 1 mile warmup and 2 miles speed changes by myself on the track, then partnered up with Garek for our 2x400s. I was supposed to be running these in about 1:50, but it's really hard for me to go that slow so I think I was closer to 1:40s. Garek started and both of us ran 4 400s, passing the baton and using each others lap time for recovery. We really need to work on handoffs. After I ran 2 grass laps with Emmaline and did a few hurdles. Then I had to go pick up my paycheck and get home. Time for my core and massage.

I was feeling pretty good about racing today. I was the 5th seed in the fast heat, which I was pretty happy about. I went out hard with the pack, my splits were 789, 2:43, 4:09, and 5:32. It hurt the whole time and I thought I picked it up my last 800 but turns out I was just hurting more. Oh well, I was still pretty satisfied with my race! I did a little cooldown to the car and back because I had to grab my ensemble dress and change at Davis to drive out to Cyprus for a musical competition. I made it right as my group went up! For girls workout, there were only a few of us distance runners, and it was a light drizzly rain (the best to run in!) so we just broke into groups with whoever and did adventure runs. I ran with Eleanor, Megan, and Flower. We did a grass lap, then ran up Sunnyside to Foothill, down by the VA to 13th east, and back to the stadium. We ran 2 more grass laps to look at the soccer players. I should've gone 20 more minutes, but nobody would go with me :(

Today was Running of the Leopards! It was snowy and icy, but I still ran hard and did really well! I warmed up for a mile with Emmaline then we ran more with the team and did strides before starting. I saw a lot of other people wearing Sojourners jackets, which was pretty awesome!

The start was super slippery and some people went out really fast and were kicking back slush. I stayed calm, keeping in mind that the race was 3.1 miles and not 100 meters. There was nobody at the 1 and 2 mile marks, which ticked me off a little because I wanted to hear my splits. I ran hard the whole way, throwing in speed changes the last mile and a half. Coming into the stadium was a really sharp turn, and I slowed down a ton or else I would've wiped out on the slippery ground. I kicked my last 300 like we practice. As I was going down the last 100M straightaway, I watched my PR time 18:26 tick by. Oh well. When I crossed the line I read 18:28, but the time on the results said 18:32. I like what I saw better. Turns out I was 2nd female overall! Good job to everyone else that raced today!

Now I get to go work 7 1/2 hours at the NCAA tournament, which means walking around carrying heavy objects and never actually getting a break. Should be fun! :)

He said "Go ahead we'll probably catch you anyways." Which gave me a lot of adrenaline, so I ran hard up each hill and never stopped to rest before. The 9th Ave to 10th Ave is the worst because it's the steepest and the 2nd to last one. As soon as I hit 11th, I stretched and caught my breath for a minute before continuing on 11th to Shriners and down through campus on Guardsman and back to the track. UVU Invite! I was signed up for the 2000M steeplechase and the 800M run. I ran a warmup to and from the bathroom in the school with Patrick and Caden, plus some more on the track and some strides with jumps over the barriers on the boys height. I prefer practicing with the boys height, it makes the race easier. Just before our steeple race, I discovered that only 1 other girl in my race had ever done steeple before. That gave me a lot of confidence. We all ran practice jumps together, and I kept landing with 2 feet, oops. Then I heard someone say "One foot Abbie, one foot." UVU coach. Great, pressure: on. At the start I was seeded 2, and when the gun fired I ran off. Another girl ran way ahead, and I knew she was one of the girls who had never done it before, so I didn't worry about her. I was a few steps behind her the first 2 laps, and just before the water barrier on the 3rd lap I passed her and felt her mentally lose it, which gave me some more adrenaline. I spent the rest of the race gapping and going for a PR. Missed it by 4 seconds, but I'm still really happy I won :) I got a Meet Champion bag! I cooled down for a little bit after watching all the boys race, then I tanned for a few hours until it was time for the 800. Emmaline and I were in the same heat, so we ran to the bathroom together and did some more warmup, strides, and drills together. I was seeded 12. I started fast and just went with the back of the pack. On my second lap I was feeling really good, and went to pass people. I moved up to 2nd place! But as soon as I turned the corner down the last straightaway, 3 girls passed me and I couldn't kick as hard. Then another girl caught me at the line, so I was in 5th, but then in the chute they moved a girl who was obviously behind me in front of me, which made me really mad. Someone better watch that finish video. I didn't have time to cool down, I had to get to work, so my mommy and I filled the car with us kids who have jobs and took us all home so we could go work. Altogether, it was a great day! :)

SPRING BREAK!

Today we had a team workout scheduled at the track at 2:30. When I got there at 2:30 there was nobody there so I waited 10 minutes. Sarah B showed up, and Elizabeth was there too, and I have work tonight, so the three of us ran 1 mile warmup and 1 mile speed changes together. Sarah and I ran our whole speed thingy timed together. 1 mile at 2 mile pace, 4 400s at 2 mile pace, then 3 sets of 300, 200, 100. My first lap on the mile was 1:20, on pace for an 11:20. I hit 2:41 at the 800. The wind started to pick up, then I was at 4:23 and finished with a 5:46. I ran 1 lap recovery in lane 8, then did 400s with Sarah. More people gradually started to show up and just do the workout. I liked it better this way because the starts aren't crowded and I feel more mentally stable. My first 400 was a 1:23, then my watch died. Sarah said that she watched my finishes on the next two and from her eyes I was around 1:24 and 1:23. We didn't catch my last one, but I didn't feel any faster or slower, so it was probably consistent. We didn't worry about timing our 300s, 200s, and 100s, just open stride. Between each set we did a lap recovery. Then I counted my laps and figured I was at 6.5, so I did 3 grass laps recovery. On the 3rd one all the soccer boys said "Hey Abbie!" Which made me smile :) Then I got a blackberry pineapple smoothie from Red Mango and had a lovely chat with my manager. Today has been a good day.

Feeling super lactarded this week! Tuesday and Wednesday were horrible in general, it hurt so bad to even get out of bed and make it to the bathroom. Today I finally decided to try a run. Nobody wanted to go on an adventure with me :'( I ran up Sunnyside to Foothill, then over to the Library and down to 13th South. Then I went to 19th east where I ran to 9th south and into the gulley, where I did a lap. It wasn't as muddy as I thought it would be, which was nice. I wanted to do more, but people had put their bags in my car and I didn't wanna make anyone have to wait because I had my key with me, so I ran down Sunnyside and called it a day. Today we had a meet out at Cyprus but I wasn't racing so we went and did a workout. We ran from Cyprus out to the main road then along there. It was getting boring, so Tomy led us up a dirt trail which was nice because we weren't running by all the cars. On the dirt trail, Sarah and I lost the boys and when we got back onto the main road we hadn't seen where they went, so we went on a little adventure with her garmin. When we got to the top of this one hill we saw the boys, so we turned and went back down then ran out to 4.25 before turning and starting our 30 seconds on 30 seconds off fartlek. It was hard with the wind, but the dirt trail was mostly downhill and flat so that was nice. It was also nice that I had done full minute fartlek yesterday, so I felt like I was able to go faster. When we were done, we ran back to Cyprus talking about boys and crap, then we ran by my Grandparent's old house. Oh the memories! I found a little half mile loop on the block of Timpanogos High School, so I ran that twice. Then I ran a lap in the soccer field with Bill and the Sarahs. Then I still had a ton of time to do some more running before actually racing. At the start, I was double elbowed by the two girls and got a horrible start. Luckily someone false started (I feel bad that she was DQ'd, but hey I got a second chance at starting) so on the second start I kept in mind that I had some fierce girls on both sides. On the second start I elbowed them both, then the really tall Orem girl kept trying to run me into the inner lane, perhaps hoping to get me DQ'd? I don't know but I beat her so it didn't matter. I spent the first 2 laps boxed in and managed to break from the box 3rd lap, but I was already really far back in time so I really had to hit a big negative split in order to get a good time. Nope. This wasn't really a race. More of a giant catfight. Some girl was tripped and grabbed my shoulder to keep balance but I kept mine and kept running. People kept stepping on the back of my spikes and cutting me off and elbowing me, it was way too physical. Okay sorry I really need to stop ranting but I really hate the mile because it's so physical and I waste all my energy in self defense. Ugh. Stupid. I did a 2 mile cooldown and then froze to death. I'm going to have a good 800 tomorrow.

Day 2 of the Alpha Invitational. I ran a nice 1.5 mile warmup for the 800 and checked in. I did a couple of strides before my race then started. I was seed 9 in my heat and ended up 3rd so I'm happy. I PR'd too :) the first lap I had to get myself in front of the main pack because I didn't want to be boxed in because the 800 is the worst event to be boxed in first lap. Going into my 2nd lap I picked it up and made it a goal to catch up to the Murray girl. When I passed her I tried to catch the Jordan girl and I got closer but didn't quite catch her. Oh well I still ran hard :) I ran a little cool down and elevated my legs on the fence. I had been begging Bill all meet long to let me run the 4x400 with Ellie, Ellie, and Eleanor, and he finally let me do it! We checked in a little late but the lady still let us run it. Ellie J started for us because she's the best with the starting blocks. She did really well! Next was Eleanor, and she also did really well considering she had just ran a really good 3200! Then it was me, I started out really fast and wondered if I was going too fast for myself, but when I was halfway through the backstretch I decided I was going to keep this pace and pick it up. I ended up PR'ing by about 6 seconds, 68 :) I handed Ellie L the baton and it was a beautiful handoff! She beat her 63 goal with a 62, way to go! I did maybe a quarter mile cool down while watching the boys 4x400 before heading to the bus to go to sleep and get home. Congratulations to everyone today! And a big shoutout to our boys Medley, only .60 seconds away from qualifying for state! Next week for sure!

Today was iffy. I wasn't feeling good, but I wasn't feeling bad either. I went for a short 5 mile loop averaging a 6:56 pace. I was tempted to go down and go home, but I wasn't feeling terribly sick and I felt like I should do more.  I went up to 19th east and over to 13th south, where I went down. I planned to go home from here, but I was only at 3 miles and wanted to do more, so I ran over on 17th east to 9th south and entered the gulley. It was fun to run there, I felt really relaxed. I exited the gulley at 15th east and then ran home from there. I feel pretty good about this run and I think I'm gonna run in the gulley more often.

I'm currently blogging at work because there are no customers and all the dishes are done. I ran my speed earlier during my free period. I ran from my house along 15th East and Greenwood Terrace down Sunnyside to the track. I ran 1 mile speed changes and payed close attention to the wind. I knew it was going to be horrible. My mile splits were wupposed to be at 2 mile pace, so I hit 1:27, 2:49, 4:26, and 5:51. Fun stuff. I ran a lap recovery and then went into my 1200. I didn't pay attention to my splits, but my final time was a 4:27. Screwy. I ran another lap recovery. My 800 was a 2:55. The wind was also getting worse. I ran another lap recovery. The wind was horrible on the 400 start, but once I got past the first 50M I picked it up a ton and flew. I got a 78, not bad. For a cooldown I threw my sweats back on and ran home. I feel okay about this workout, I just wish it hadn't been so windy. But I do prefer doing speed alone, I always do better because I don't feed off of others paces. I know, bad race technique but whatever helps me get my speed up I'll take. Now I need CUSTOMERS. Erghh.

Today was a really cold day. I ran the team warmup and then my own warmup in my sweats because I was so cold. I did not feel my muscles getting warm. It was awful. For the mile they weren't going to let us wear hoodies or anything, so we were all cold, even while running. Mariah and I took the race out pretty fast, and I figured I could just stick on her and draft and go for the last 300 pass. I passed her, but then my arms froze even more and she passed me back with about 150 to go so I just let her have it today. Ugh. I didn't catch my actual time. I didn't even bother changing out of my spikes because I was in every other event. I ran the 400 in the same heat with Sam and another Bountiful girl, and I was lane 3. I didn't run as fast as I wanted to because I was so frozen. After that I had some time to go take a POTTY break and be a lactard on the toilet. Then I ran the 800. Another Bountiful girl took the race out hard, and I tried to go with her but started feeling sick, and going into the second lap I felt really sick and considered dropping out. The finish hurt really badly and I had to wait in the finish chute for 5 years before being able to go put my sweats back on and cry about my tummy, and Bill still wanted me to run the 800 in the Medley. I basically jogged the whole thing, sorry team. As soon as I finished I went and sat in the bathroom for a while before it was finally time to go. I really hate this weather too. It's too cold and it's April. It needs to be sunny and warm.

Today I didn't have a ride to practice so I ran there. I thought I was going to be late but nobody was ready when I got there so I was able to do the full warmup and drills thingy. Tomorrow is crazy track day! After all that fun stuff we ran down to Liberty. Emmaline and I ran together the long way, going about a 6:45 pace oops. But we felt good. When we got to the drinking fountain, we heard our workouts. I was doing a 4 mile tempo at 6:12 pace. We ran to the starting line and did 4 strides on the grass before starting. My first mile was a 6:09. My second one went down to a 6:19. Ugh. On the next mile my right calf tightened up, so tight I felt like it was going to burst. Then it went really numb, something that's never happened before. What. The. Heck. Leg. Why. Are. You. Doing. This. To. Me. My next mile was a 7:24. Ew. Then I finished my last mile an 8:48, doing all 4 miles in exactly 28 minutes. Poop. We ran to the drinking fountain and I massaged it a bit before running up 13th south to home, since I was already at 9.25. Later I massaged it some more and hopefully it won't ever spaz out again.

Today was Crazy Track day. Black and Blue team is better than Red and White team. Just throwing that out there. We won the Shoe relay, the boys and girls tube run, the obstacle course, and girls 4x100 scooter relay. I was the girl running in the tube relay and the anchor of the scooter. We lost the sponge relay, 4x400 scooters. So yeah the whole thing was a tie so the teams had to play tug of war to determine a tie breaker. Well the rope broke, so we'll just say that Black and Blue won, deal? Okay everyone's cool bye bye. Then we sang Happy Birthday to Austin and Justin before having cake and leaving. Great day!

Yay for speed. We did the usual warmup stuff and then 1 mile warmup 1 mile speed changes. The speed that I was told was a 3:15 1000 and then 5x500. I wasn't feeling too good because of the heavy wind down the backstretch. We were supposed to start at an 800 pace for the first 200, then run the next 600 at 3200 pace, then back up to 800 pace for the last 200. Blech. I didn't even hear my time because the wind was so strong. For the 500s I wasn't mentally into it. I had a really negative attitude but right before the 3rd 500 I decided that I needed an attitude adjustment so I went out hard with the boys. It really helped me, and when the sprinters jumped in at the 300, I was able to draft off of Leo. Thanks Leo! I did this for the rest of the 500s, started strong and drafted. I felt so good to finally be done, until Bill said to do another 1000. What? Nope. I was furious. As we started I yelled "I hate you Bill!" and then my anger fueled me so I guess it's a good thing. I always run better when I'm angry :) After the 1000 I didn't want to do my 200s so I took my shoes off and had a negative attitude. But then I told myself that I could do it, so I put my shoes back on and ran over to the 200 start, where I ran 4 200s with Emmaline and the boys. Emmaline ran them because she wanted to draft the wind for me, but seeing as she's half my size it didn't really work. I appreciate her effort though! After the 3rd 200 I was suddenly very happy. I felt so good and was ready to take on this last 200. When I was done I ran a backwards grass lap barefoot with Emmaline then she had to go so I ran my second one on my own. The grass felt amazing, especially when the water would splash up my shins. I love running in the mud barefoot :)

Today Susannah came and ran a little bit with us! :) We did the usual 2 laps warmup with stretching and drills, then distance ran 3 laps warmup and 3 laps speed changes. I ran them with Susannah and afterwards Tolbert said that my form was better when I ran with her. :) Since she was just doing a run, she left at that point. I went over to the asphalt hills with everyone else and we ran 12 hills. Tomy's Garmin was being stupid, so he took it off and totally destroyed it. It was actually really funny. Once we finished that I ran a grass lap to bring my 4.5 miles up to 5, then I ran 3 more miles barefoot around the football field. Then I did a few Steeplechase drills by jumping up onto the boxes. I really wish we had the screws for the barriers, because we have barriers and stands, we just can't put them together. It's hard because the boxes are too wide. Oh well. I'm going to do some more step-ups this week.

Today I ran a mile of warmup for the 400 with the Ellies. We stayed on the grass because it's softer. When we changed our spikes, the three of us were put into heat 1. I was lane 3. It was slightly windy at the start, which I wasn't too happy about, but I still started fast, flew down the backstretch, and kicked hard. I don't like the open 400, I prefer being the 2nd or 3rd leg in the 4x400, I always run faster with a baton in my hand, and if I have a bit of a running start. Plus I have more adrenaline because I'm doing it for a team. Anyways, I jogged around in my trainers for a little bit before the medley. We had to change around my team because Sophie's shins were hurting, so we threw in Eleanor for a 200 last second. Emmaline was our 400 runner and she never cut into lane 1, always lane 3, so I had a lot of ground to make up. I didn't make it all up, but I still closed quite a bit. I was really ticked off after because my coach didn't catch my 800 time because he was too busy keeping track of his favorite. But I do know my 800 was faster than that. I ran a little bit of a cooldown and was too ticked off to stay, so I went home and picked up my sweats later.

Today we did the usual stuff and then the distance workout. We ran 6 laps of the bleachers and drills, starting with high knees then buttkicks, powerskips, grapevines, lunges, reaches, and calves. I stayed relaxed and drafted from the boys. Once that was done we ran 2 chasing 300s. My first one was a 51 and I caught the person in front of me and wasn't caught by the person behind me. We switched the order we were in on the next one, and one of the guys passed me. I ran a 50 on this one. Then for the 15 minute cooldown I ran barefoot laps on the football field just because running barefoot is the best.

Today was the Davis Invitational! I was in the open 1600, Medley, 3200, and 4x400. First I ran a 1 mile loop warmup by myself in my sweats to warm up for the 1600. Once I checked in I did a couple of strides and got to talk to Miranda. We were both in the 2nd heat. I was seeded 18. I was in the second alley at the start. I went out the hardest in my alley and when I got to cut in I was about 4th or 5th place. My first lap was a 77, then my 800 a 2:41, on pace for a 5:22. I ran my next lap at a 4:04, then I felt like I was dying. Everyone around me was kicking and I slipped a little and ended up with a 5:35. Oh well, it gave me a better 800 time.

I went to our team tent and elevated my legs on the fence for a few minutes, which helped drain the lactic from my legs and helped me save my energy. I was in the Medley with Sam, Merry, and Ellie L. I ran 1 mile warmup before checking us in. When we went to the field we did some strides and then it was time to race. Sam got a really good start, then Merry helped take us up a few places. Ellie held our 5th place position then outkicked the girl in 4th so we were in 4th when I started, and I didn't have that much ground to make up. I didn't want to make it all up in the first lap then lose it all on the second lap, so I took it one girl at a time. When I moved up to 3rd the girl was pretty good about trying to stay with me, so I used one of my better surges on her and focused on 2nd and 1t place, who were battling like crazy. I caught up to them then the Copper Hills girl started to kick like crazy when she realized that I had her. I tried to stay with her but she had a better kick. Oh well, we PR'd and were 4 seconds away from qualifying for state, plus we all got silver medals!

I took my spikes off and walked around barefoot for a minute before putting them back on and running some strides before the 3200. It was really hot outside at this point. I was seeded 1 in the 3200, and at the line some nice lady gave me a cup of water to pour all over myself before starting, which helped. The girl next to me at the starting line ran out hard, but along the first backstretch I took the lead. On the homestretch my cousin Michaela came up to the lead with me, which was fun because I was running with my cousin:) On the 3rd lap Emily from Park City came with us on the backstretch and went for a pass. I tried to tell Michaela to come with, but Emily was moving, so I went with her. After about 100 meters with her I lost her and was on my own and the race suddenly got a lot harder. I think the heat was getting to me. On the 5th lap another girl passed me and I couldn't stay with her for the life of me. Then on the last 200 2 more girls passed me while trying to outkick each other. Yeah, no this heat is bad. Oh well I still got a medal and I'm pretty sure I broke 12:)

During the boys 3200 I didn't bother changing out of my spikes because I was in the 4x400 with Leo, Ellie L, and Savannah. It was enough time for me to prepare. Leo gave us a really good start. I was the second leg, and on my 400 we were in 3rd and the 4th place girl passed me but instead of letting her go I held onto her and had a great handoff with Ellie. She gained on the girl, but their 4th runner was really fast and Savannah had to battle her the whole time. She still did amazing though! I've heard that I ran a 67, but I'm not sure yet.

I was finally done with all my events! My legs are so dead right now. I'm exhausted. I ran 1 mile cooldown on my loop, then put my medals on and went home. Now it's time for a massage!

Today was speed. It wasn't really that hard, but there was a ton of lactic in my legs and they just felt super heavy, plus I didn't have my flats and my trainers were just weighing me down. It got pretty mental. I just didn't want to do 1000's today which gave me a negative attitude. We did our usual warm up stuff and then 2 sets of 300, 1000, 600, 3 x 300. My first 300 was a 57, then on the 1000 I ran a 3:45. Ugh. 10 seconds too slow. My 600 I felt better about it mentally because it was like the 1000 minus the worst lap. I ended up running a 2:02, about 15 seconds way too fast. My next 300's were 56, 57, 58. Then we jogged 2 laps before the second set. I ran my 300 in a 55, then lost it again on the 1000 running a 4:25, ugh. Once again my 600 was too fast, 2:04. I don't know, I'm better at shorter distances mentally. My last 300's were 59, 65, 59. Once I was FINALLY done, I took my shoes off and put my legs up against the wall to drain some of the lactic. Then I ran 2 barefoot grass laps cool down and went home.

Today after the usual warm up and such, distance went to the asphalt hill to run 6 hills. I focused on my form on the hills. After that we went to the football field and took our shoes off for 4 laps of barefoot X strides. It was tough because of the wind. Once we put our shoes back on, we did 3 progressive 300's. On my first one I was chasing Emmaline and trying to run away from Rigo. I was barely behind Emma when I finished and ran a 51. On the next one I was chasing Rigo and being chased by Dakota, and I caught Rigo but then got caught by Dakota. I still ran another 51. On the last one I was still chasing Rigo, but this time I think Patrick was chasing me. I caught Rigo again and Patrick didn't catch me, I ran a 49. After the 300's, Bill took us steeplechasers for BYU on Thursday to the shed where we did some stretching. Then I took Olivia, Sarah B, and Flower to run 1 lap and show them where the barrier marks were for steeple. After that lap we did some hurdle drills, jumped over the hurdle a few times, and did wall step thingys. Next we took the barrier and 2 hurdles (since we don't have screws, we have the stands just no screws) over to the sand pit where we set the barrier on the hurdle. It was hard because even though the hurdle was on the lowest setting, putting the barrier on top of it added a few more inches and it was harder to step up onto and over. If I knew what size screws we needed I would just go buy them myself and donate them to the school. After that we all had to go home because we have things to do.

Today Sarah B, Fleur, Olivia and I went down to BYU for the 2000M steeplechase! When we got there we ran our warmup and put our spikes on to go practice jumping over the barriers. For the race I was seeded 1. The girl seeded 2 told me that her goal today was to beat me. Okay? Anyways I took the race out and led the first lap, then the girl came and was right on my tail. At the last barrier on the 2nd lap my left spike on my trail leg caught the barrier and I wiped out. That's where the girl moved and I spent the rest of the race trying my hardest to go catch her. It was super difficult and I ended up getting outkicked by 2 people. I was upset because I thought I was 4th, one away from a medal, but it turns out one of the girls was a 1a-2a girl so I was really 3rd and got a medal :) After being upset about that girl beating me, my sister reminded me that her success depended on my fall.

I crashed on the last lap, both physically and mentally, and fell down after I crossed the line. It was really hard today. I have sucked at the mile this year. I ran 1 mile cooldown along Canyon road and then took a nap while elevating my legs for the 800. My 800 was a lot better. I've been doing good in that this year, PRing and all. My first lap was a 74, then a 78, so I just needed to work on that last lap. My kick was really good though. After the 800 I ran 1 giant lap in the stadium for half mile, then grabbed 3 bucks and ran .25 out and .25 back then rewarded myself with a snowcone. Yeah I do that... Alot.

After 5 hours in the exam room I made it in time. They held off the meet for me, how sweet! I ran some warmup strides on the astroturf in my spikes then started. At the start I was cut off by my own teammates and tripped by another. Plus being shoved by the other teams. It was just like yesterday where I mentally couldn't handle the abuse. I planned on a better 3200.

At the start of the 3200 I was shoved by another girl but this time I fought back and at the first 100M I went out front and took control of the pack. I led the first 6 laps. On the 6th lap though as the Bountiful girl tried to pass me and she cut me off while she was right next to me. Excuse me? Stride and a half before cutting missy! I threw in a speed change and lost her for a lap but on the 7th lap is where the lactic started to kick in and then the Woods Cross girl passed me too easily. It hurt. I ended up 3rd, so I'm going to state. I'll do better there because I'll have fresh legs. I ran 1 mile in my flats before going to Costa Vida with my parents :)

We drove to the track and before school let out we ran up Sunnyside to 9th south and to the top entrance to the gulley. I figured it'd be cooler down there, and it was. Kiley isn't used to the heat, altitude, and dryness of Utah yet because Minnesota is very different. We were able to splash ourselves in the creek because it was so hot. She survived though! Afterwards we went and bought popsicles and helped time the 100s at JV Regions then sat in the press box and provided some commentary for the meet. It was fun!

They ditched me and I got lost down by the river, so I eventually turned around, found my way out, and ran along the road behind the temple, where it was FLAT. No rocks. Didn't run yesterday because I had to work early and woke up late. Today Susannah and I went up to Pipeline to run. I just ran 2.5 out and 2.5 back. As we were leaving, the East kids were arriving. Then I remembered that they were going up there today. I didn't like all the death glares I got, thanks guys.

Today Mom and I went to Liberty because it's flat and cool there. I ran 2 counterclockwise laps on the outer trail by the woodchips and 2 clockwise laps. The first 3 miles my body would not warm up and I was dying at an 8:30 pace, but after that I stretched for a minute at the drinking fountain and started again, and I was able to hold a 7:40 pace the rest of my run.

Today I woke up early to go say goodbye to Veronica because she flies back to Italy today :( I'm gonna miss her. Later I was feeling sad, so I decided to go run. I ran along 13th east to South Temple, down to 7th east to Liberty park, and stopped at the drinking fountain. I stretched for a minute before running up 13th south to home. I felt a lot better after running, but I still really miss Vero. :(

On the last 1.25 mile we did 6 40 second strides with a jog, which really helped loosen me up after low miles. When I got home I did some crunches and stretched. I'm going to get that 6 pac eventually.

After that I did 3x30 sets of crunches, 3x30 second planks, 3x10 sets of girl pushups, and 3x10 sets of lunges. After that I ran back up to Sunnyside and did another lap then ran back along 17th east, where I ran into Kate and Sierra and had a nice conversation with them :) When I got home I did some medicine ball drills and stretched out with some Yoga:)

Today, Kenzie and Emily came to Salt Lake to run with me :) I couldn't think of a good run, so we just sort of made it up as we went along. We went up 15th east to the gulley and ran a lap and a half in there, exiting at the top. We went over to Sunnyside where we saw the East kids. We ran a lap before going over and saying hi, then we continued our adventure. We ran up Sunnyside Ave to Foothill where we turned left and ran the VA loop and back along Guardsman to 9th south, where we went up to 17th east to 13th south and back down to my house. Then we went to breakfast and did nails :)

Later this afternoon I did 3x30 crunches, 10 girly pushups, 3x30 second leg lifts, and then stretched. It was grand.

Today I was feeling really sick, tired and sore when I woke up. I wanted to beat the triple digit heat though, so I got up and went out. I ran along 14th east to 17th south and up to 19th east over to Laird Park. I stretched there for a few minutes before heading over to 9th south, where I went down in the gulley, out the bottom, and home along 15th east. I still felt really tired after. I've been avoiding naptime today though because I know I won't be able to fall asleep at bedtime if I take one.

This morning I went out to Park City to run with some pretty awesome people. I met up with Kenzie, Emily, and more at PCHS where we started in the weight room. Today, Kenz, Em, and I had to do crunches, pushups, lemon squeezes, hyper-extentions, leg and knee lifts, weighted lunges, and weighted stair lifts. After all of that fun stuff we went running with Lyssa, Maddie, Ally, and Ian. The altitude got to me worse than I was expecting. We ran out on a paved path to the trail, and once we got on the trail I felt super sick and had to stop for a minute to breathe. Emily stayed with me :) Once I felt better we continued on the trail and talked about chick flicks. It helped me take my mind off of the elevation, plus I had to focus on not tripping because it was a pretty rocky trail. I was expecting a turnaround point, but after forever on the trail we were descending and going down some steep switchbacks. Once we were off the trail and onto the pavement, we ran across the street to a field where we ran around the back of the high school where we met up with everyone else, and I met Jordan Hasay!! Afterwords I drank lots of water and went home because that was exhausting. It was fun though :)

Today Susannah and I decided to go to Cottonwood Complex. I ran the 3 mile loop as a warmup then I ran along the high school region course. The first 20 minutes I did 10 sets of fartlek. My shoes and socks were drenched in the first quarter mile so the rest of the run was really squeaky. Once my fartlek was over I finished the course as a cooldown and added a little for exactly 6. Then I layed down in the wet grass and did my crunches, pushups, and stretches. Now I'm going to do some leg lifts.

This morning after my work meeting (donuts, juice, candy, etc.) I went for a nice run. I ran up 13th south to 15th east and over to Sunnyside. Susannah caught up to me at that light, then a car cut us off. Her yelling at it was probably the funniest thing ever. "Don't hit us you idiot! I know you can see us! JERK!" their windows were down. We ran along Guardsman, and when she turned up 5th south I crossed the street and ran up by the Institute building. I did that larger loop then ran back down to Foothill then ran up Sunnyside to Wasatch. The Zoo was crowded and some lady pulled out of the parking lot. I think she meant to pull out far enough for me to go behind her car, so I ran in front of it while giving her the look. Idiot lady. There were a lot of people out golfing this morning! I went down 13th south and all the way home. I added a little bit to get an exact 7 miles. It was a good run.

I didn't want to run just laps, so I decided that I would throw in some 800s. I ran to the starting line and ran my first one in 3 flat. Not bad but eh. I ran over to the drinking fountain and could've sworn I saw Chris. Well Chris if you're reading this and that was you HI! I wasn't sure so I just ran back to where I finished my last 800 and ran a second one. This one was 3:01. Eh. I ran another lap around the park recovery, did some strides, and headed home. I hit 6 right at the bottom of the hill so I just walked it today. I'm feeling like a trail run tomorrow.

Today was Handcart Days! I woke up this morning really grumpy because I couldn't sleep last night and I was too grumpy and tired to eat breakfast, not even a piece of bread. When we got to the race and picked up our packets I was really hungry, but the Rec Center didn't have any vending machines with food in them and the concession stand wasn't open, so I ran half mile down the road to Maverick where I bought 2 Nature Valley oats and honey bars. I only ate one, then finished warming up. Then I changed shoes and did my strides. I was still unsure if I wanted to race or tempo. The cannon fired and I decided to go tempo. But I was the leading lady out of the parking lot, so I decided that I would race :) It felt really good. My plantarfacia hurt really badly at miles 1.5 to 2.25, but once I had that less than a mile to go I ran scared because I knew there were some girls close behind me. I really wanted to be the first female. For the last quarter mile I picked a target of one of the guys who looked like he was ready to be done, and I worked up to him and passed him. We were sprinting down the homestretch and he was right on me, but I still chicked him :) I threw up my breakfast, but since it was only one bar it wasn't that bad. I never cool down, so naturally I didn't cool down. Oh but on the results I was listed as a male, so I had to get that taken care of. I was excited for the medals because they looked really cool, but turns out those were for age groups, I got a chair. Oh well. No bling for me today :( Overall it was a good race, I was way more prepared for this race than I expected.

Today was a good day. First things first, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSANNAH!! Anyways. Today I went up to Pipeline with Susannah, Patrick, Katelyn, Becca, and Alyssa. In the first .25 of the trail there was a super angry snake. 2 people walking the other way with their dogs were scared too, especially when one of the dogs chased the snake. It gave me a lot of adrenaline. I stayed up with Susannah and Katelyn for the first 1.75 but then my snake fright wore off and I wasn't feeling too good. I stopped at 2.5 and decided that 5 would be good enough. I turned and headed back at a little faster pace, but still conservative. Afterwards Susannah and I went and got our nails done and I got mine super long, making typing difficult. Happy Birthday Bananny!

I ran t he VA loop, and when I got to 5th south and Guardsman I decided to do Shriners run, but halfway through campus I thought to myself "That is a terrible idea." so I turned and ran back on Guardsman to Sunnyside, where I decided to go to the track. My thoughts? "Oh I should force myself to do a speed workout!" So I ran 4 400s and 4 200s, not too hard, but I almost quit, so I'm proud of myself. The sprinklers were on, so it was nice and misty :) My 400s were 1:23, 1:23, 1:24, 1:23. I did a lap recovery then my 200s were 36, 37, 38, 36. I ran another lap recovery then back up to Sunnyside where my car was parked for a full 6. Now I have to go take a nap and elevate my legs and do my core before my goodbye party guests arrive!

Today we did the Verticle Mile. It was awful. The first mile is basically straight uphill, but after that it's fine. Lexie and I ran together while Coach Evans biked alongside. He gave us a lot of really helpful advice, "If you want to run like a deer, you've got to breathe like a rhino." Our first uphill mile was 12 minutes, then we kept an 8:10 pace, then on the downhill we were at 6:20. I really had to poop the last 2 miles :/ #WolverineWay

After our team naptime and brownie making party, us girls had to go to weight lifting. We did a 1 minute plank, then right, then left. Next we did Inverse pull ups, weighted calf raises, and weighted leg lift thingys, then walked out to the pullup bar. But the bar was wet and crooked and there were bees everywhere, so we didn't do that. Oopsie? Oh well, I'm going to be so sore tomorrow! My goal was to break 10 minutes (seriously this hill is steep, worse than JCC for any of you East kiddos reading this) I finished at 9:57, right with Emily. After, all of us girls were coughing because our throats all burned. The boys finished shortly after and then we started our 45 minute run. I ran 22 minutes out with some of the girls and then 22 minutes back, plus that extra downhill mile we had just ran up. I felt pretty sick before and after, but not as sick as my roommate. We ran 2 800s, 3 600s, and 4 400s, fast on the uphill and equal recovery on the down, no stopping, standing, or walking. I felt pretty good, the weather was a perfect drizzle! I've gotten so much better at hills just by fixing my form. I've gotten so much better at everything now that my form is better, everything I was told in high school was wrong. After the hills I ran a 20 minute cooldown with Kenzie and Brigit and we went back to the WAC. Our spikes are finally here! They're adorable. We're getting our gear packs, swagbags, and foam rollers either tomorrow or Wednesday :) It'll be nice to have sweats BEFORE the season haha :) I iced for 10 minutes with Maddie, Lexie, and Robbie before heading home. I ran about a mile warmup with the girls, then we did some stretches and drills. We put on our fancy spikes and started. I got a pretty good start and stayed with a pack of my teammates for the first mile. But there was a lot of loose gravel, and it did not feel good. It really slowed me down, and whenever I got to a small grass portion I did a speed change because the grass was a lot better. I didn't know where any of the mile markers were, so that was also pretty tough not knowing where to move and where to be conservative. I thought I had a lot left when I heard another coach telling his athlete "3 minutes left!" so I worked past her and started kicking. I was a little upset with my time, but then my teammates were all saying how the course was longer than what we had been told, plus everyone struggled with the gravel and our spikes, so I felt a lot better. We ran a barefoot cooldown on the grass, then Ivie and I went home. Now I'm just waiting for my roomies to come home!

Today we did some speed at the park by the Rec Center. We ran there from the WAC as a warmup, which was uphill. So much fun. Our workout was 4 x 1 mile repeats. I ran the first one with my shoes on and hit the time. I felt a little sick, so I took my shoes off and ran barefoot because it was much lighter than trainers. My next 3 I felt awful; instead of getting progressivly faster I got slower. After the last mile I felt better. We did 2 400s, my first was an 88. My second one, Ivie and Jess encouraged me to run with them, which really helped me. I ran it in 80 seconds. I put my shoes back on and ran back to the WAC with Savannah, Caity, and Genevieve. I took an ice bath for 10 minutes then went to Yoga. Now I'm starting my 3 hour history lecture! Yay!!

Today we did a speed workout at the park by the water towers. We ran 15 minutes for a warmup then did our drills. The workout was 5 1200s. It was a loop around the park then up a hill and onto the road for a little bit. We did 2 uphill, then started at the top of the road for a downhill. Then did one more up and one more down. On the last down we were all thirsty, so Coach picked up a hose on someones front lawn (they had a BYU flag so it was okay) and we all drank. After the 1200s some of us took our shoes off and we did 2 400s just on the grass, then 4 strides to look at our form. We did a 5 minute cooldown before heading back to the WAC for ice baths and study hall.

Today was speed. I ran a 15 minute warmup with Kenzie and Darian around the frolf course and back to the track, plus some more laps. Our workout today was 8 800s. I remember doing this same workout last year in high school thinking it was the hardest thing ever, but today I had a better attitude and worked hard the whole time. We split the girls up and I worked with Shea, Celeste, and Aisha. My first one was my fastest, and we did 1 lap between each one. They got harder and harder but I kept a positive attitude. Tim told us to take more recovery and my times stayed more consistent. I finished all 8 without quitting or complaining, then ran a 15 minute cooldown with Darian, the same loop as before. Since weights was moved this week to Mon and Wed I went in and did my hang cleans, pushups, crunches, RCLs, medicine ball drills, and bench dips. We did coconut oil calf massages, then I took a 15 minute ice bath at 52 degrees, then Spencer dumped more ice in on me :( anyways. Now I'm in Study Hall waiting for Brenden to bring me a poptart before Yoga. I love Yoga!

Today we didn't have weights or practice, so we were supposed to go on our own group runs. After class and study hall I was with Chuk, Nelson, and Jadyn, so I just went with them to Lakeside to run the course for Friday. I ran barefoot and ran the boys course twice with them. It's the same as the girls course, but the girls course cuts off sooner and I wanted to have people to run with. Now I'm back in study hall getting my 12 hours in for the week.

I like doing weights with the boys, they're too funny! After I showered up and now I'm in study hall, going to yoga in 2 hours. Maybe I'll take the bus home, but maybe not. Then I have my 3 hour lecture. Yay.

Today was a beautiful rainy day, so I decided to wear my bright orange pants! I ran with Maddie and Aisha from the WAC through the parking lot and frolf course to Pinnacle so I could get my jacket, then we ran up to Ventana so Maddie could get hers. Once we had our jackets we just ran to the track, did our 2x200 and 2x100 for form, then jogged to the locker room. Time for more study hall!

This morning was our home meet! We ran against Wyoming, SUU, USU, and Westminister. I ran a 2 mile warmup with the girls while we cheered on the boys, then we spiked up for our race. We did a few strides. Coach wanted us to run as a group for the first mile around 5:55-6:10, but we accidentally went out aroung 5:35-5:40. It felt really fast but I didn't let it get to me. Instead I still worked harder the next 2 miles, picking and passing. It really helps me to have teammates to work with. I worked with Savannah on the field by the baseball diamonds, and then for the last 800 I worked with Mikesell. She really helped me with that last 400! I was a little upset when I saw the clock go from 19:59 to 20:00, but it's still a college PR for me! (Because last race was an extra quarter mile and all gravel) I even threw up, so I know I worked hard! We had a team meeting while I ate an apple, then we did a barefoot cooldown. Then I went grocery shopping with my mama for some healthy food :) Thanks mama! Love you! <3

Congrats on a great race! I don't even think I could run a 5:35 mile right now haha... But you did it and still had two miles to go! Is it the same course as the Orem Kiwanis race for high schoolers? Do you know yet if you are racing in Montana???? Loves you bye!

Sis! No, the Orem Kiwanis thingy we did doesn't exist. Remember that field? That's a parking lot now. This was at Lakeside park, I raced there my JR year! And yes I am going to Montana! So you better go!

This is a pretty funny story. Lexie and I couldn't sleep, and it was 2 am, so we decided to go for a run in the rain! Our hair: frizzballs! We started at our house then ran along Sandhill to University Parkway, then we ran all the way over to State Street and turned right. We ran down past the DI, then decided to turn left on some random busy road. It started to rain harder, which made it more fun. We were going about a 7:20 pace the whole run. While wondering where we were, I saw the Panda Express and Wendys by the BYU track, and couldn't believe that we had just ran there! We ran by the track all the way back to University Parkway, then stayed on UP until we got home. Coming up the curvy road from Provo to Orem was a little sketchy and I was a little scared, but we stayed together so it made it better. It was a solid 8.5 mile run. When we got home we considered filling the tub up with hot water and eating our Oreos, then Emily came in our room because she was still awake! She wanted to go for a 3 am run too, so I went with her for 3.5 to get my 12! We did the same thing on UP, but we turned around at In N Out Burger and came back. We stopped at McDonalds because we wanted large Dr Pepper so we ran through the drive through. The people there were very cool, but their system was down and all we had was card, no cash. The workers thought we were crazy. It was fun! We ran home and my Garmin hit 12. We hopped the fence, made our hot cocoa, and fell asleep on the living room floor. And we just made pancakes for breakfast!

Today we ran to Lakeside for our 3x10 minute tempo. I felt fine on the first one and stayed at the 6:15 pace. The second one I felt awful. I wasn't mentally prepared for this workout. The third one I pushed through it. I'm just glad that I finished the workout. We ran back to the WAC for cooldown, then I iced for 15 minutes before going to study hall. Later, Brenden and I went to Yoga. After that I went to Golds Gym with Harley, Shea, Caity, Savannah, and Brenden. We did a warmup on the elliptical all of our stuff on teamdesktop. Good workout. Now it's time for Cheerios and Apple Juice.

Today was speed. We ran our 15 minute warmup through the frolf course to the tunnels and back, then did all our drills. The workout was 4 sets of 600, 400, 300, 200. The recovery after each one was 500, 400, 400, 400. I felt good the first set but it was mentally tough because of the crowd. The second set I got worse. We thought we were doing 3 sets, so I was excited for my last set but then was disappointed that there were 4. After the 3rd set I felt better mentally because I only had one more. During the last set, Coach asked if I was okay and needed to stop, but I said that I wanted to finish because I've already come this far. I finished strong, then we did a 10 minute cooldown. Weights later, class now. Yoga here I come. Then a nice long 3 hour history lecture. I'm not signing up for night classes next semester.

For a warmup we ran a part of the course together while cheering for the boys on their 8k. Our plan was to take the first mile slow and then pick it up a ton. Well I figured out the hard way that that won't work for me, because the first mile was too slow and then it was too hard for me to pick it up, but I still felt like I was at race pace. Once I got to the final stretch I realized I was on pace to break 20 minutes, so I started kicking. But the last 150M was the annoying little rollie hills which really slowed me down because it broke my stepping pattern and I almost tripped several times. For a cooldown we ran the lower loop, then did 2 400s on the field before getting back on the bus and getting lunch. I love burritos. We headed home after.

Today we met as a team and then drove up to the trailhead. A lot of people were mistaken by which trail we were going to, so I ran in a small group along the paved path for a 15 minute warmup with Brooke, Jess, Ally, and Lexie. Then we did 2 400s up the road, which added anohter mile. Then we got on the rocky trail and ran in a single file line up to the top. Once we got to the top we kept running and got staggered into groups. I ran with Emily, Caity, Genevieve, and Maddie. On the way back I tripped and fell down the side of the trail into the bushes, but I only have a couple of scratches so I'm fine. When we got back someone gave us coupons for free slushies from Rita's Ice and 2 buckets of slushie to advertise their grand opening. Yay for free things!

Today we drove to Vintage park for our workout. We ran a 15 minute warmup around the perimiter of the park, then did our drills, stretching, and a couple strides. Our workout was 3x10 minute tempo. When we started the first one I didn't want to go out too hard, but I still stuck with a couple of girls. After the first lap I was running with Harley and Caity at our 6:30 pace, so I just stuck with them. A few times I fell off a few strides but I kept a positive mind and managed to stay with them the whole time! We had 2 minutes jogging recovery before the next set. I decided to run with Harley and Caity again because they're really good at pacing and I felt like I was pushing. I stayed on pace! On the third set they went faster so I was a few meters behind but Coach Evans biked alongside me and talked me through my bad form, which really helped me stay strong and keep that 6:30. It's the first workout here where I've stayed consistent instead of slowing down! I'm getting to where I need to be! We ran 2x400s at 85 to finish off the workout, then I ran a 15 minute cooldown with Brooke the birthday girl. :) I feel really good about this workout. Now I'm in study hall. On the second mile I took my shoes off and stayed close behind them. My times were 6:19 and 6:22. On the 1000s I stayed close to them again and hit 4:02 and 4:06. On the 400s I got 89, 91, 90, 88. Pretty alright workout I guess. We ran a 15 minute cooldown on the trail. The gatorade was purple today :) I really like Vintage park, it's very flat and exactly one lap on the pavement is half mile :) and it's grassy so I was able to do most of the workout on the grass. Later I went to weights with my group, then took a 15 minute ice bath. Then Brenden and I went to Yoga!

The course was really nice and I really liked it. At the start I went out with my team and stuck with Harley and Caity for about a mile, then they gapped and I worked with Aisha, Savannah, Mikesell, and Savannah instead. We worked together as a team and drafted, then on the last turn to the uphill Mikesell and I broke away and started chasing people down. At the finish I got double roadkilled which made me kinda sad, but overall I had a really good race! :) I ran a cooldown with my team while cheering on our boys :) First time girls have raced first and I loved it! But I started laughing becuase earlier when I was going into study hall I fell down too. Great Monday, Abs. They all laughed with me and we continued running. At the park I did my first 3x1000s with my shoes on. My times were 3:58, 4:01, 4:07. I worked with Aisha, Shae, Genevieve, and Savannah as usual. My tummy was kindof hurting at the start of our 4th one, and I ran a 4:29 :( Then a 4:44 :( Then I told myself only 2 more and ran a 4:22 and finished strong at 4:04. So this workout wasn't a total flop :) And it really helped me to have encouraging teammates, especially Mikesell, she's too sweet. The Gatorade today was purple, so I was happy. I ran back to the WAC with Kenzie, Harley, and Caity, and Harley pointed to every low sign to help me not hit my head and fall over again :) Now I get to sit in study hall for an hour before going to weights. We over to Lakeside Park and continued straight on that road until we hit a trail with some really tall plants. It was like a corn maze. We kept going, then got a little lost in the bushes and suffered stinging nettle and other various plants. Let's just say we got hives and failed to find the haunted cabin, so we turned around to head back but then ran into Jason and Nelson! The other girls kept going back to the WAC, but Maddie and I wanted to find the haunted cabin so we ran with the boys until we got there. It was really cool. Then we turned and ran back. Twice. On the way out we ran the hills hard and on the way back we ran the flats fast. After the first out and back I pretty much died. My tummy has been hurting really bad this week, not just while running, but any random time of the day. Luckily fall break starts tomorrow so I'll be able to relax for a bit and go home! On the second set of hills I just focused on my form while running as hard as I could. It hurt really bad, but I still finished the whole workout and that's all that matters right now. We turned around and on the way back we ran down a ramp to run along the beach in the sand. We even touched the water just for fun. When we got off the paved trail after, we only had 4.25, so we kept running out on the road by these fields, which was slightly uphill. I ran my first two in 87 and 88 with Maddie, but then Jess and Ivie joined our group and I ran the next 4 with them in 82s. My 7th one was 81 and my last one a 78. I ran a 15 minute cooldown with Mikesell and Emily on our same campus route. For lifting today we did ladder drills, then a superset of V-ups, scissor legs horizontally and vertically, with a 30 second back plank. We also had pull ups, inverted rows, Dead Seal lunges, weighted one leg squat things, along with the 60-60-60 abs, obliques, and lower back. I did hyperextensions forward and back, then some medicine ball twists, and crunchies. Then Brenden and I showed off some of our yoga poses in the weight room because we aren't doing yoga today, it's just a class for studying for the midterm. Ugh.

After that, Coach told everyone if we could hit in a faster window for the next two 400s then we could be done. I almost cried because I didn't think I could do it, but Aisha and Savannah encouraged me to go with them. I was supposed to get 79-82 for these ones and I wasn't sure I could do it, but I went with the girls in the second group anyways and I managed a 75 and an 81! I felt so much better after that! Weights was really light today, so that was nice :)

Today Maddie and I ran from the WAC over to the tunnels and along Sandhill Road to Nelsons Grove Park. We ran a lap in the park, then down to the roundabout under the freeway. I noticed the train barrier flashing, but Maddie kept running so I yelled "Train!" and she stopped and almost got hit by the barrier. Then it wasn't even a train, just a stupid maintinence truck on the tracks. We turned and ran back up to Sandhill and ran back the way we came. It was a nice relaxed run.

Today we ran our usual 15 minute campus warmup and met at the track for drills and stretches. I really like the iron crosses we do, they really pop my back! :)  Our workout was 2x800 then 4x400. I felt great! I was supposed to be 3:10-17 and 3:04-11 but I ran 2:49 and 2:51 :) Then my 400s were supposed to be 87-90 and I ran 83, 82, 81, 80. I made it my goal to get 1 second faster each one. I'm getting better at this! I ran a 15 minute cooldown with Kenzie, Genevieve, and Caity. Then I checked my study hall, 9 hours and 25 minutes so far! Awesome! I did my lifting at Gold's later. Halloween run tomorrow!!

We couldn't stand not running any longer! I ran with Aisha, Savannah, Shae, Emily, and Vieve. We ran over to 400 south to Geneva Road and ran to UP where we took the tunnels back to the WAC. We were at a 7:02 pace when we started and the whole last half mile was a 5:48. We miss running. Later Vieve and I went to our lifting group and we were the only ones that showed up! It was kinda nice though because Marcus was able to focus on just us so we did everything right, and there were some new things today.

Today I went with Vieve, Maddie, Kenzie, and Savannah on a run. It felt so painfully good! We ran up 8th south and over to Krispy Kreme, down by Ventana and Pinnacle, and through the tunnels. Then we ran up to the roof and through the Institute tunnels where we went back to 8th south and back down. Yay running!

Today when we met for practice we had little treat bags from Institute! Yay! Perfect because I didn't really bring enough food for the day... And now I have more food! Anyways. I went for a short campus adventure run with Em, Sav, Vieve, and Aisha. It was so much fun! Then when we got back to the weight room there weren't enough bikes so I just stretched and did some core while everyone else biked. I'm still SUPER SORE from Monday. It hurts. Bad. I can't even walk. Or lift anything. Or do anything. It hurts. Did I mention that it hurts? Oh well. Oh and then I didn't know that our lifting time had been changed so I arrived as everyone was finishing...AWKWARD! So I just did the lifting by myself while some of the sprinters did their weights. Oh man. Wednesdays. Wednesdays. Time for Yoga!

Today was nice, we met as a team for the first time in a long time! I loved it because all of us girls ran up 8th south together and broke into groups for our miles. I just did 4 with Sav, Vieve, Shae, Aisha, Emily, Caity, and Mikeselle. It was a fun group :) After running a ton of us went to do our weights together, and now I'm doing my last 55 minutes of study hall for the week! Thanksgiving! And Yoga is cancelled tonight so I get to go home early and make dinner :) :) :)

Intense 5 mile run with Vieve, Aisha, Emily, Maddie, Caity, and Shae. Went towards Lakeside but we turned at Geneva and ran to UP where we went up the bridges and through all the tunnels to the roof of campus, where we ran down by the institute and ran 2 laps on the track. It was fun. And painful. Perfect weather though, and tomorrow is supposed to be freezing...great...

First snow!!! I trudged through the snow with Vieve, Maddie, and Kenzie to the Sandhill Rd Roundabout and a little farther. We had icicles on our eyelashes!

Later I was bored so I ran to Golds Gym and ran 2.5 on the dreadmill for fun. I hate running in the snow.

Went to Gold's with a few of my teammates where we ran into a bunch of other teammates. #WolverineWay. We all ran on the dreadmills. I survived 2 miles then went and biked 6.5. Then I did .5 on elliptical. Next we did our ladder drills, weights, and core. I really like that Gold's because they have a smaller weight room for girls only! :) No toolbags! (aka Chicken Legs)

Today Susie and I went to the Oval so I could do my workout. I started my 15 minute warmup but then found that the whole back stretch of the track was closed because they were taking down a poster. Can't they do that another time when there's not so many runners? Ugh. I just ran back and forth for 15 minutes, then for my mile I had to do the same thing, pivoting at the turns. It was really difficult and I don't even know what a mile is with that messed up measurement, so I just ran hard for a little over 6 minutes. Then for my 1000 I did the same thing for 4 minutes. I was beyond frustrated. I finally just decided to do 200s and 300s. Then I did my 15 minute cooldown and right as I was finishing they announced that they were opening the track back up. SERIOUSLY. FUDGE.
