| | Today we ran up to the track where we ran 1 mile warm up and 1 mile speed changes. Then we did our asphalt hill just west of the soccer field 10 times. Next was the run. I fell behind very quickly and could not keep up. At 13th south I felt really sick and decided to just run through it. But when I got to 17th south I still felt horrible so I stretched out my sore legs, took some deep breaths to make my tummy feel a little better, and ran back to East the same way, very slowly. I made it and went straight to the ladies room and then I felt better. |

| | Yesterday I went on a college visit, and since the team was doing a workout and not just a run, I couldn't run with them. So that took away my running plan for yesterday. Today was our team time trials. I totally forgot to bring spikes and flats, so I ended up wearing my trainers, which really weighed my legs down. I did 2 miles warm up with Tomy and Chris and then a mile speed changes. It was windy down the home stretch, so I was not excited for that at all. On the first lap of the mile, Sarah took it out too hard at a 76. I then decided that it was a time trial and didn't really matter, plus I kept tripping over my trainers. So I backed off and relaxed to where my splits were 2:48, 4:28, and 6:10. I was also a little tight from not running yesterday. I ran a lap recovery and my butt really hurt. I really need to massage that and ice it, because it was pretty bad. Hey Susannah, I need a butt massage, teehee. For the 400 I hit a 78, so I knew my 76 earlier was better. Then again I was running slow because of the wind and the fact that I kept tripping over my heavy trainers. I'm pumped for Tuesday though, it'll be a nice day and I'll have lighter shoes. I did 2 laps cool down to be at 5 because I was in a hurry. |

| | Today after all the warmup stretching drills and such we ran to the hill and did it 8 times. Then we ran over to Fairmont for 10 strides. I felt really good on the way down there, but after standing around for a few minutes my hip tightened up again and started hurting like it has been every day this week. It didn't loosen up all through strides. When we started running back along 9th east we were going to go down to Liberty for that extra mileage, and I fell behind and ran with Dakota and John. By the time we reached 13th south my hip still was really tight so we just kept going to 9th and up the hill. My Garmin said 8 while we were going up to the track, so we just walked the last little bit. When I got home I iced it a little but it hurts so much! |

| | Today we did our warmup and stretches, then we set up the railing around the track for the season. Next we did our drills and voted for Captains. By the time we were starting the run, I had to go home because I was needed at work early and had to be on time. |

Judge, Brighton @ East (1 Miles) 00:05:37, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1
Today for the meet we got all set up, ran some laps, then stretched. I did my own warmup on the track, avoiding the 100M straightaway where they were doing hurdles and sprints. I helped time a few of them. When Tolbert fired the gun I went in the front and took control for a few seconds before Sarah took off. I didn't go with here because I didn't feel like running that fast the first lap. After the 800 mark I had caught up to her and passed her and ran my last 2 laps faster than my first 2. I finished with a 5:37. I jogged around for a few minutes and then stretched a little. I helped time a little bit and formed a Medley team with Sophie, Gui, and Madeline. Sophie and Gui ran fast 200s for us, getting us in 2nd place. Madeline kept that 2nd place spot close to the 1st place girl from the other team which made it easier for me to catch their 800 runner and help our team win. Thanks for sprinting fast ladies! :) I did a little bit of cooldown but had to hurry home because I know Susannah wanted to go shopping :) We had fun!

| | After warmup laps and such I wasn't feeling very good. I was in a really bad mood today, so I ran some more laps until we started our actual workout. I ran 1 mile warmup and 2 miles speed changes by myself on the track, then partnered up with Garek for our 2x400s. I was supposed to be running these in about 1:50, but it's really hard for me to go that slow so I think I was closer to 1:40s. Garek started and both of us ran 4 400s, passing the baton and using each others lap time for recovery. We really need to work on handoffs. After I ran 2 grass laps with Emmaline and did a few hurdles. Then I had to go pick up my paycheck and get home. Time for my core and massage. |

| | Today for workout the girls ran 1 mile warmup 2 miles speed changes and 1 mile cooldown. I ran my warmup and first mile alone, then my calves were hurting so I stopped to rub them out and stretch them before continuing. They felt better for that mile but I felt myself getting a blister from my old pink shoes, so I ran 2 grass laps barefoot with Emmaline. |

Davis Super Meet Girls (1 Miles) 00:05:32 | | Today was the Davis Super Meet Girls. I ran the 1 mile loop with Emma for warmup, then grabbed my spikes and had plenty of time to relax and do some drills and strides. I was feeling pretty good about racing today. I was the 5th seed in the fast heat, which I was pretty happy about. I went out hard with the pack, my splits were 789, 2:43, 4:09, and 5:32. It hurt the whole time and I thought I picked it up my last 800 but turns out I was just hurting more. Oh well, I was still pretty satisfied with my race! I did a little cooldown to the car and back because I had to grab my ensemble dress and change at Davis to drive out to Cyprus for a musical competition. I made it right as my group went up! Perfect timing! |

| | Today I really wanted to go cheer for the boys at Davis, but I didn't have a way to get there. For girls workout, there were only a few of us distance runners, and it was a light drizzly rain (the best to run in!) so we just broke into groups with whoever and did adventure runs. I ran with Eleanor, Megan, and Flower. We did a grass lap, then ran up Sunnyside to Foothill, down by the VA to 13th east, and back to the stadium. We ran 2 more grass laps to look at the soccer players. I should've gone 20 more minutes, but nobody would go with me :( |

| | Today we did our 200/400 chase workout. I was with Patrick and Eleanor! We all ran 1 mile warmup and 1 mile of speed changes before starting. Eleanor and I jogged to the 200 and when Patrick passed the 200 mark and got to the cone a little farther up, we started out 200. Then We did a 400 with 200 recovery. We did 3 sets. My 40 times were 78, 79, 76, and I don't know my 200s. For cooldown I ran 3 grass laps with the girls. |

Running of the Leopards (3.1 Miles) 00:18:28, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 1
Today was Running of the Leopards! It was snowy and icy, but I still ran hard and did really well! I warmed up for a mile with Emmaline then we ran more with the team and did strides before starting. I saw a lot of other people wearing Sojourners jackets, which was pretty awesome! The start was super slippery and some people went out really fast and were kicking back slush. I stayed calm, keeping in mind that the race was 3.1 miles and not 100 meters. There was nobody at the 1 and 2 mile marks, which ticked me off a little because I wanted to hear my splits. I ran hard the whole way, throwing in speed changes the last mile and a half. Coming into the stadium was a really sharp turn, and I slowed down a ton or else I would've wiped out on the slippery ground. I kicked my last 300 like we practice. As I was going down the last 100M straightaway, I watched my PR time 18:26 tick by. Oh well. When I crossed the line I read 18:28, but the time on the results said 18:32. I like what I saw better. Turns out I was 2nd female overall! Good job to everyone else that raced today! Now I get to go work 7 1/2 hours at the NCAA tournament, which means walking around carrying heavy objects and never actually getting a break. Should be fun! :)

| | Today we did our Avenues hills run. We ran along 13th east to South Temple and waited at T street. I had to hurry up and get to work, so as soon as Bill got there I got permission to start. He said "Go ahead we'll probably catch you anyways." Which gave me a lot of adrenaline, so I ran hard up each hill and never stopped to rest before. The 9th Ave to 10th Ave is the worst because it's the steepest and the 2nd to last one. As soon as I hit 11th, I stretched and caught my breath for a minute before continuing on 11th to Shriners and down through campus on Guardsman and back to the track. I did a grass lap to get my Garmin exact, then right after I called for a ride the rest of the group arrived. Catch me? |

| | Today I had to leave at 4 because I had work again. I'm working every day except Friday this week. I also didn't have a ride to practice, so guess how I got there? Yep, I ran. After warmup, stretching, and drills, distance ran 1 mile warmup and 1 mile speed changes, but right before we started the speed I had to go. I have to work a lot to save up my money for college, so until I find out whether or not I get a scholarship, I'll have to go to work. |

| | Today, I had to make up the speed workout with Garek and Megan. We did 3 1200s and 6 200s with equal recovery. We did 1 mile warmup and 1 mile speed changes. Then my 1200s were 4:26, 4:26, and 4:24, which I was pretty happy about. Then all of my 200s were between 36-39. We did grass laps until my Garmin had 7 on it, then I hurried off to work. |

| | Today I had to be at work just before 4, so I went and did the workout early. I ran from my house to Sunnyside for Fartlek. It was 10x90 seconds on and off. I did 6 sets doing laps at Sunnyside, but then was running out of time so I did my last 4 sets along 15th east on my way home. |

Utah Valley University Invitational (1.25 Miles) 00:07:49, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | UVU Invite! I was signed up for the 2000M steeplechase and the 800M run. I ran a warmup to and from the bathroom in the school with Patrick and Caden, plus some more on the track and some strides with jumps over the barriers on the boys height. I prefer practicing with the boys height, it makes the race easier. Just before our steeple race, I discovered that only 1 other girl in my race had ever done steeple before. That gave me a lot of confidence. We all ran practice jumps together, and I kept landing with 2 feet, oops. Then I heard someone say "One foot Abbie, one foot." UVU coach. Great, pressure: on. At the start I was seeded 2, and when the gun fired I ran off. Another girl ran way ahead, and I knew she was one of the girls who had never done it before, so I didn't worry about her. I was a few steps behind her the first 2 laps, and just before the water barrier on the 3rd lap I passed her and felt her mentally lose it, which gave me some more adrenaline. I spent the rest of the race gapping and going for a PR. Missed it by 4 seconds, but I'm still really happy I won :) I got a Meet Champion bag! I cooled down for a little bit after watching all the boys race, then I tanned for a few hours until it was time for the 800. Emmaline and I were in the same heat, so we ran to the bathroom together and did some more warmup, strides, and drills together. I was seeded 12. I started fast and just went with the back of the pack. On my second lap I was feeling really good, and went to pass people. I moved up to 2nd place! But as soon as I turned the corner down the last straightaway, 3 girls passed me and I couldn't kick as hard. Then another girl caught me at the line, so I was in 5th, but then in the chute they moved a girl who was obviously behind me in front of me, which made me really mad. Someone better watch that finish video. I didn't have time to cool down, I had to get to work, so my mommy and I filled the car with us kids who have jobs and took us all home so we could go work. Altogether, it was a great day! :) |
