| | Met up with Natalie, Kiley, and Tomy at Sugarhouse park. We wanted to go on an adventure run, so we ran up to 18th east, straight to the first T on a street, and went up whatever south. (29th?) We then decided to go up to Tanner park, where we stopped at the playground and went down the slide. Then we found this one really rocky trail that we ran on for a bit and got onto a parkway that took us over to Foothill by Thunderbird. Then we just ran down 21st south back to Sugarhouse park. I felt pretty okay for the run, except my jaw and collarbone were burning pretty badly (wisdom teeth maybe?) and at times I wouldn't be able to keep up with the others. Overall I think it was a fun adventure run.

| | Today we ran from the commons up to the track where we did the normal drills. After that we ran up to Legacy Bridge to the gate by Red Butte. I fell behind because my tummy was hurting but it won't anymore because I can stop taking that medicine. Yay! I ran faster on the way back, not only because it was downhill, but also because it was getting colder and I was determined to get done. I still have a sideache... I stopped at the track to grab my IRUNLIKEAGIRL hoodie and regrouped with everyone. Then we ran back down to the school and went home.

| | We did our usual track warmup around the block. Then we did our drills and such and broke off into groups. I went on a run with Sarah B, Sarah S, Olivia, and Camille to the Shriners fountain. We went along 13th east to Presidents Circle, up to the alley and through the neighborhoods to the fountain. It was turned off, so we went back through the neighborhood and through the alley and through the campus to Guardsman. We went down Sunnyside to 14th east to 9th south and down to the back lot where we hit exactly 5. Sarah B and I quoted Julian Smith for about 2 miles. It was fun.

| | After getting first place in our relay at Duel in the Pool, Bill called me and told me to make up the speed workout. 1 mile warm up, 1 mile speed changes, timed mile, 6 400s, and 1 mile cooldown... ON A DREADMILL. So I went back up to Steiner as the swim team was leaving and they were all wondering what the heck I was doing... My doom. Oh well, I sucked it up and did it. The pros and cons of a speed workout on a dreadmill: You have to press the button about 50 times to get it to go faster so you can't start fast or slow down as slow as you want to for recovery time. Oh well, I still hit the paces I was supposed to, and the good thing was I could keep that pace absentmindedly and focus on getting through the dreadmill. Plus my legs were really sore from swimming today. Ok, so time to focus and make it to every practice and start putting it first because I haven't been prioritizing that as much as I used to lately... I don't know, I like doing other things besides running sometimes.

| | We did a lap around the school for a warm up and then our drills and such in the hall. Then we went to the weight room and did leg lifts, arm swings, and this other drill I can't remember the name of nor describe. Then I went running with Kiley and Sarah. Sarah was smart to wear a coat, but Ki and I were in shorts and tees and about halfway through the run the sun started going down, it was pretty cold. So cold it hurt. We ran up 9th south to Foothill, then all the way to Thunderbird. Finally we turned around and went back to 13th south, then down to 17th east, over to 9th south again, and down to the school. It was so cold, I was lobster red and my fingers were purple and numb I couldn't even move them. Hot cocoa time.

BYU Indoor Invite (1 Miles) 00:05:58, Place in age division: 5 | | BYU Indoor. I did a mile warm up with Natalie and we took a POTTY break in the first lap. Then all of us went to the bull pen to get our numbers, I was in the 2nd heat with hip 18, which means I got to start in the worst spot, behind 20 other people who all instantly cut in front. I swung wide and there was a girl zigzagging so I finally stepped on her heel (On accident, but that's okay) and she stopped zigzagging so I could pass her. I spent the next part of the race trying to get into position, except my lungs were just burning, oh the joys of running inside. I didn't have much energy left for a kick, but nobody outkicked me so I'm good. I finished in 5:58. After watching Natalie run, I went and ran a mile outside. I came back to watch Tomy run, then Bill wanted to take us on a super long cool down. At least it was a cool down so I could keep up. But by the end of January I'm hoping to be back to where I should be and keeping up on all the runs. I've just got to push harder. I went outside with Natalie, Tomy, Chris, and Bill. We ran over to Brick oven, and around the block to the outdoor BYU track, and we ran a few laps there. It was weird because the only times I've ever ran on that track were during a race. We ran back to the indoor stadium and Chris had to go, and if you're reading this you left your bag in my car... Anyway. I ran another half mile with Natalie, Tomy, and Bill, then Tomy and I turned around because we only needed 4 more miles instead of 8. Then Natalie and I went to Jamba Juice! And then my Grandma took my cousins and I to Chuckarama...All you can eat after a race = amazing.

| | I went out to Jordan River Parkway in Taylorsville with Natalie and Sarah S, where we met up with Bill and Tomy. We ran together the first mile, then Sarah and I slowed down a bit. We were supposed to go out for 40 minutes and back, and we were at about 38 minutes when we hit 4 miles so we just turned around to get 8. It worked well. It was really soft and snowy the whole time, and quite cold. Now I'm ready for some Age of Empires and hot food. |

| | Speed today. Thank goodness the oval was closed, saved us a long drive. We did 2 vertical laps in the school for a team warmup, then some drills. We finally did the sardines drill! After that we broke into our groups and distance ran down to Liberty park. We ran the shorter way to the drinking fountain where we got water and then went over to one of the lines and dots marks where we started our 800s. We did 6 800s with half mile recovery in between. I was supposed to be hitting 3:02 for all of them, but it didn't go so well. 3:04, 3:07, 3:13, 3:15, 3:19, and 3:19 were my times. We did a full lap around the park and met at the fountain, then we ran back up 9th south. On 11th east we turned right and went to Belmont Ave, up a block, and back over to 9th south to get to 10 just before the big hill. Perfection. I've really got to step it up, it's almost as if I've hit a wall. Oh well, I'm still freezing. Hot cocoa time? Yes.

| | We did 2 vertical laps as a track warm up and the usual drills with strides and such. We did 2 circuits of 45 seconds before breaking into groups. I went on an 11 miler that was supposed to be 10 with Natalie, Kiley, Bill, Chris, Sarah S, and Kevin. We ran along 13th east over to 21st south, where we kept running on the Sugarhouse trail until we got up and around to 17th east, where we went right and did our normal cemetery run. That was all done at about a 7:45 pace. We went down to Imperial Street to Alden ave, did our crazy Crandall and Zenith zigzag all the way to the cemetery on 33rd south I think? I'm not sure. We did a lap in the cemetery and when we were finishing our lap Sarah was starting so we just had her run with us. It took us forever to cross the street to Melbourne because there were so many cars, it was great because I got some nice recovery time! Teeheee :) Anyway, so once we finally crossed the street after our regrouping, we went all the way to that one street where we go down to 17th and cut back down into the park, where we stayed on the trail all the way around and back to 21st south. The part of the trail that was fenced off forever is finally not fenced off anymore! I liked it because it's a smaller and less steep hill. At this point I was dying to keep up with Natalie, Kiley, Bill, and Chris. I never got too far behind them, I managed to close the gap at red lights, and I was never too far behind. I feel really accomplished today. We finished by going into the parking lot, around the random building by the softball field, and back to the parking lot. Then Kiley drove me home in Viva La Volkswagen. Now I'm thinking about how sore I'll be tomorrow...

| | Today for a track warm up we ran a block around the school. I was fine until the end of the lap when my stomach started hurting. After the warm up we did our drills, wall sits, and step ups and broke into groups. The distance plan was to go to Sugarhouse for a ladder fartlek workout. While along 13th I felt really sick and on about Emerson ave I kinda keeled over. Luckily Olivia and Camille were right behind me, and Camille was turning around at that point to make her haircut appointment, so she ran back with me to make sure I could make it back to the school and get home. It was a painful run.

Weber Indoor 3200 (2 Miles) 00:12:44, Place overall: 8, Place in age division: 6 | | When I got to the indoor track they were doing the 55 meter dash, so I did some warm up loops with Tomy since I barely had any time. I grabbed my spikes and got to the bull pen with the other girls. I put my time down as a 12:50 and got put in the first heat. At the start the officials said we could do strides, so a Davis girl and I did 1 stride and then the officials blew the whistle at us and told us to line up. Make up your minds, old people. Once they fired the gun, I got out fast and watched as Natalie and another girl broke off from the pack to battle each other. I decided I would stay right behind them and gap the group. There were 2 girls trailing behind me a little bit, but the main pack was off of me. I stayed in 3rd for the first mile, but on the 9th lap my plantarfacia started to KILL me, and the 2 girls passed me. As soon as I finished that lap after being passed by quite a few people it stopped hurting and I passed a couple of the people back, but then I just started crashing and I could feel it. In the final kick a 1000lb weight dropped in my stomach and I couldn't kick? 2 girls passed me, one of which I swore to myself I would beat because she was a freshman... Oh well. I went and did a mile outside with Natalie, Sarah, Olivia, and Bill, and when we got back inside the rain had gotten our shorts wet in the perfect spot to make it look like we had all wet our pants... Haha. It was really rainy and wet.

| | HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE!!!!!!!!! Today at track, we did our 2 vertical laps warm up and dynamic drills. We broke out into groups and discussed the oval. Since it was closed until 5 pm and it was barely 4:00, we decided to meet there at 7. So Natalie, Sarah B and I decided to throw in a chemistry study session before heading out later. Nat drove Sarah B, Sarah S, and I out there and we met up with Tomy, Bill, Dakota, and Kevin for 5 1000s. We did 1 mile warm up and 1 mile speed changes, and I had a sideache on my lower left and upper right of my tummy. When we stopped to stretch and change shoes I breathed it out and didn't change shoes because I had left them at the school and they ended up in Bill's car. For the first 1000 I think I started too fast, because at the 500 mark, I suddenly felt as if someone had stabbed me on my left side. I tried to squeeze it out and breath as I always do to get rid of sideaches, but the pain stayed the same. By the end of that one I was crying, but I calmed down, breathed it out, and sat out the 2nd 1000. Dakota brought my shoes in (THANK YOU) and I changed into my flats. I joined the others on the recovery lap and did my 2nd 1000 while they did their 3rd. I had it in my head that I was going to do all 5, because I am determined to make it to state this year and go to Arcadia and Great Southwest. I ran my next one at a 3:59, which shocked me. I ran my next one a 3:58, and the next also a 3:58. Everyone else was so happy to be done, and I knew I had to finish. I borrowed Natalie's watch for my last one, which really helped me know where I was at the 500. Surprisingly, I ran a 3:48!!!! It made me so happy to know that I pushed hard while doing it alone. I did 12 laps cooldown with Birthday Girl, Tomy, Bill, and Kevin. It felt so good to be done, and this chocolate milkshake is DELICIOUS. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE! YOU'RE AN ADULT NOW AND CAN SIGN YOUR OWN RACE PAPERS! :) teehee.

| | None of the coaches were at the school by 3, so we decided to be good and start our vertical laps and drills. We were about halfway through drills when Bill showed up, then we had a stretching circle before breaking into groups. We did leg lifts, wall sits, and step ups before leaving on our City Creek 12 miler. We ran up 9th south, over on Guardsmin to 5th south, through the U campus to the alley through the neighborhoods to Shriners, to 11th avenue to City Creek, up City Creek a mile and back down to the capitol, down State Street to South temple, up to 13th east, and over to 9th south and down into the parking lot. I ran with Kiley most of the time, #hashtagging everything we saw. When we got to City Creek, Kevin was running backwards and claimed he got lost, so the three of us ran together for the rest of the run. It got pretty cold. Kiley took me home and then I went over to the freshman fair to recruit freshmoneys for next year.

| | Today we met in the commons for the usual workout. Kiley was early, so Dominique and I took her on a school tour through the worlds most famous high school. She made a man friend. Anyway, onto workout. We all did our 2 vertical laps, then drills with strides. Then we broke and did box jumps, some stretching, and onto our run. I went on an 8 miler with Natalie, Bill, Tomy, Chris, Kiley, and Sarah S. We ran along 13th over past Sugarhouse to that one street we always run along to get to Alden on our cemetery run. We ran up to 17th east, then over to 21st south, up to 19th east, over to Sunnyside, down to Guardsmin, to 5th south, turned around back to Sunnyside, down to 14th east, over to 9th south, to 13th east, over to 8th south, crossed the street, ran along the front of the school, and went far into the parking lot behind the school to finally get at 8. I felt pretty good the first 4 miles, but then my stomach was hungry so it growled the rest of the run and it made it harder to keep up with the others. But I managed to stay with them for the rest of the run! Tomorrow is race. day.

Davis Distance Challenge (1 Miles) 00:05:41 | | I did a mile warm up and a mile speed changes before the mile with Kiley. When they seeded us, we went together in the 2nd heat at a 5:45 seed. At the beginning of our race, everyone went out really fast, and I would've too, had Kiley not said to me that they went out really fast. She was right, everyone was worn out and we passed them in the last 800. I got a PR! 5:44 to a 5:41, 3 seconds yay! We did a mile cool down and waited for the rest of the girls heats of the mile, and the boys heats, and that took a good 3 hours. By 7:00 (the time the 2 mile was scheduled to start)they were just finishing the 400s. Kiley and I went as seed 1 and 2 in the 800, and our goal was 1:17 and faster, to get about a 2:30 each. I don't really remember what happened in that 2 minutes and 42 seconds, it was all a blur and I failed to reach my goal. I did a cool down and went home.

We did 3.5 miles warm up, out on the course to the turnaround point from the parking lot and back. I did a couple of strides before starting. I don't really like this race because it's out and back on the same road forever, and once you turn around you can see the Saltair but it just doesn't seem to get any bigger or closer. It's just there. When I finally finished I did a half mile cool down and headed home because I had to get ready for our junior prom day activity.

| | Today was speed at the oval. I liked leaving right after school instead of staying for the track warm up and drills, because then we could get home sooner. We did 2 miles of warm up outside and came inside, did 1 lap, then 4 laps speed changes. We then did a timed mile, and I was supposed to hit no slower than a 6:10. I hit a 6:05, right where I was supposed to be. We did 2 laps recovery, then got onto our 10 200s. Each one was a 200 hard and 200 recovery, so basically 10 laps of J's. I fell behind at first, but I progressively got faster. We did 7 laps of cool down in lane 3 to be at 10 miles for the day. Then we all drove home and Natalie and I went to Gavin's game.

Today I didn't go to practice right after school because in last period (chemistry) we were playing with Nickel Sulfide, which I'm allergic to. Let's just say I wasn't in the best condition to run. I went home and finished my homework, then later went to the gym to do the workout. I did a mile on the dreadmill, but 1, it was boring, and 2, the indoor air and recovery from the nickel were not mixing well. I went to the weight room and did some leg curls, and above each knee I had a really painful knot. I stopped that to do some squats and arm swings and other stuff. I also massaged them out before doing the leg curls again. The knots weren't as tight, but they were still pretty bad. I went back to the dreadmill, and after a mile I had to stop. I really need a foam roller, my knees are killing me. I also need to stay away from nickel and stop running around inside.

| | Today we did the outside lap around the school for the whole team warm up. We did our dynamics and some baton drills before splitting. Distance ran up 9th south, over to Sunnyside, did a lap around the track, up to Sunnyside park, a lap around the park, and down to the track again. I ran with Kiley, Sarah B, and Sarah S. We did 1 lap at Sunnyside park and when we got to the track we did a mile speed changes. We weren't sure where the others had gone... But when they got back we stretched THEN did what was supposed to be a mile speed changes. I guess we did 2 miles of speed changes. Then we did 2 sets of 300s with instant 100 recovery. In between the 2 sets we did 2 laps recovery. After the last set, I did 2 laps with Kiley and the Sarahs before running back down to the school. It was an okay workout, but today everyone felt exhausted (not sure why, I couldn't really keep my eyes open).

| | Today we did our track warm up and drills, that's 2 vertical laps, and drills with lots of strides. For a run we ran along 13th east to 21st south, down to 9th east, and over to Fairmont park for some strides. There was a big tent set up there, and we decided we were going to get a big tent like that for track, complete with sleeping bags, yoga mats, a kitchen, walls, and a doorbell. I think we should get a circus tent, or a teepee. Anyways, after strides we ran on 9th east from Fairmont to 8th south, up a block, to 9th south, up a block, to 8th south, up a block, and back to 9th south. Once we hit 6 at the bottom of the hill on 11th east, we walked up. I had some delicious Spaghetti Factory for dinner because of our meet tomorrow!

Olympic Oval (1 Miles) 00:05:45 | | I did mile warm up and mile speed changes while the track was opened for warm up. I was in the 6th out of 7 heats, going from slowest to fastest. I don't really remember much of the race since I'm blogging a day late, but I was pretty satisfied with my time and effort. As I was about to go cool down, my cousin called me and asked if I wanted to go to Ab's drive through, and I just couldn't say no....

Olympic Oval (0.5 Miles) 00:02:37 | | When we got to the oval today, I went on a 2 mile shakeout run with the team. When we got back I went to the bull pen for the 800 and was in heat 4 of 5, slowest to fastest. I got a pretty good start considering I was in the back. I'm not sure what my first split was, but I got a 2:37. My goal was 1:17 each lap and get a 2:34, but I PR'd so I'm happy with it. I did a 2 mile cool down and then went to the Nike Outlet on Jordan Landing for a team shopping spree. When we got back to the oval, the other 3200 girls were in the bull pen and the officials were calling us into our heats. I was in heat 2 of 2 with Natalie and Sarah S. While the first heat was running, we got to use the track for warm up. Since my spikes were having their spikes put in them, I got to run a warm up with a couple of lengths on the track... in my socks! Plus I had been running around the bull pen. Once I got my spikes on I did a couple of strides before the start. I got to start on the front line, and I got a pretty good start, and I felt alright about it, but then I remembered that it was 7 laps. I was supposed to break 12 today, but my mile split was 6:05 and my final time was 12:19. That's a PR by about 25 seconds on a track (One second... on a downhill 5k) but I despise the 3200 and never ever want to run it again because it is the worst race ever invented and should go die. I was in a really bad mood, so I went for a 6 mile cool down around the neighborhood. Then I went home, and since my parents finally decided to call a plumber I can shower in my bathroom for the first time since October! That felt gooooood.

We ran along 13th east to South Temple and down to State Street. We ran over in a little neighborhood by Temple square by some little Hot Springs, then we ran on 4th West until Gateway and Energy Solutions Arena and then started zigzagging up the streets so we wouldn't have to wait at every light. Tomy, Natalie, Chris, and Kiley got ahead, and I pushed to keep up with them. At one point where they made a light turning right, I missed it and went straight. The good thing was that I got to run by the well on 5th east and 8th south and get a drink :) Then When we were on 9th south and 7th east I caught up with them and we went to 10.5 for the day and got to walk up the big hill and go home. Now I get to go ice skating!

| | Today we ran up Sunnyside to Foothill and along Guardsman and back to the track for a 3 mile warm up. We did a mile of speed changes to get ready for speed. My legs felt really heavy and it felt like I couldn't pick them up, as if I lost all my leg strength... We did 2 sets of 4 300s, in between sets we did 2 laps recovery. I hit between 57 seconds and 1:02. Some were just better than others. For a cooldown I just did a couple of grass laps at the stadium before running back down to the school, where I did a couple laps around the parking lot and softball field. My legs now feel like they're going to detach from my hips because they're super heavy.

| | Today we left without our usual track warm up for our penny run. We ran up to 13th east, flipped the coin, and went towards 8th south. I got to flip the coin this time, which took us down 8th south to 9th east. Then we flipped it again and it took us over to 17th south, up to 11th east, over to 21st south, and then when we hit 3 miles we turned around and went back the same way, running up the big hill. I'm pretty sure it's steeper on 8th south than 9th south. Then Kiley, Ashley, Tomy, and I went to Del Taco and got 20 tacos for our after-practice snack, in the Bug with the top down :) Yes, it was a warm day.

Saltair 10K (6.2 Miles) 00:44:44, Place in age division: 2 | | I did 3 miles of warmup and such. When the race started I didn't want to start too fast or slow. Sarah S started to pass me, so I decided the best way for me to be able to push myself was to go with her the first half and make her stay with me the second. We kept about a 6:45 pace the first 2 miles, then dropped down to about a 7. On our 4th mile we were crashing, about a 7:15 pace. On the last mile I said let's make this last one count, so we took it back up to a 6:50 pace for that last mile. I did a mile and quarter for a cool down to be at 60 this week. Next week is taper down :)

| | Taper down week! (For Simplot) We went to the track and dropped off our shoes and went up to Sunnyside park for a 2 and a half mile warm up. When we got back to the track we did a mile of speed changes. For the workout we did 6 sets of 400 200. My first two were good, 1:23 and 1:25, and my 200s were under 40, but on my 3rd and 4th I got 1:26 and 41, and 1:29 and 40. My last two were stronger, A 1:22 and a 37, and a 1:18 and a 38. We had equal recovery on each one and only needed a mile and two quarters cool down. We were planning on 2 grass loops and a track lap and running back to the school, but the first grass loop all our socks got wet so we did three track laps after that before running back down to school.

| | Half mile full team warm up around the school and drills. After that Sarah B and I went on a short run. We ran along 13th east to 13th south, up to 15th east, over to Harvard, and to ZoBell's house. We stopped and said hi to Gavin and took some of his chocolate bars and then ran up to 17th east, over to 13th south, down to 13th east, back to the school, and a big lap around the school. Getting ready for Simplot! :)

Simplot Games 2012 1600 prelims (1 Miles) 00:05:35, Place overall: 28 | | Ran a 2 mile warmup outside the Holt Arena with everyone. I went out hard in the race but not too hard. I barely managed to qualify for finals, 28th out of the 36 that make it. I didn't do a cool down, just straight to the hotel and to bed. I wasn't even sore the next day? |

2 mile warm up around the inside of the arena for about 25 minutes with Sarah S. We weren't sure if she was racing because she was 2nd alternate if some girls scratched from the mile, and good thing she warmed up with me because 1 girl scratched and the 1st alt didn't show. I got a pretty good fast start, not too bad. I gradually passed throughout the race and got pretty close to 1 and 2 girls. I was in 3rd for the second half of the race but in the last 100 meters random girl in orange passed me. I was glad it was over. They took us back to the bull pen and gave us our finals participant medals. I went on a 4 mile cool down around the arena by myself so I would only need 6 later. Later, I went for 6 miles with Bill, Tomy, and Sarah S. We went down the street and found a parkway trail that went into a cemetery and we saw a really old stone crematorium with a ton of ravens in front, it was pretty cool. It started snowing while we were out, and it was really windy too. We ended up doing 6.5 cooldown. That's okay though as long as I hit my miles. I love tapering down. And mongo cookies filled with oreos...oh and twinkies.
Good job Natalie in your race miss first place East 3200 defending EAST champ. :) East pride! |

| | Today there was no school, so I slept in and went on my own run. I ran up 13th south to Foothill, over to Thunderbird, and on the paved trail. After running in the snow on the trail, I saw a dog up ahead and couldn't see an owner, and I'm not in a 'be attacked by a dog risk' mood today, so I turned around and went back to Foothill until I reached Sunnyside. I ran down Sunnyside and crossed at 17th east where I ran until I got to Emerson, then I turned, went back to 13th south, and ran home. My fingers were frozen even though I was wearing gloves and clenching my fists, but oh well. Once I got in my house and checked my phone is when I got the team practice when and where text... ha.

| | Ran along 13th east from the school to 21st south and into Sugarhouse park. We ran up through the park to 17th east and then we did our cemetery run. I fell off from the group at the cemetery, and when they told me to catch up they sped up. Counterproductive? Anyway. Once out of that neighborhood we went to 21st south down to 13th east and into the teacher parking lot. Bill wants me to do an extra half mile every day this week to make up for the 12 miler I missed yesterday. I'm sorry that I hit between 8 and 12 like you told me... |

| | Today after school I was modeling for my friends' photography projects. It took longer than I thought so I didn't start running until about 4:45. I had my mom come pick up my bags so I could run home later. I ran down to Liberty, and as I was entering the park I caught my team leaving so I was able to get the workout. It was hard alone but I managed it. 8 sets of 3 minutes on 2 minutes off 2 minutes on 1 minute off. I ran it on the trail outside the wood chips so I could get that extra half mile in. I also ran into Grey a couple of times, and the first high five burned a lot more than the second. Once I finished I had done 4 laps, not so great. Oh well, I was able to run home from the park and be at 10.5 for the day. I can tell I'm gonna be sore tomorrow... |

| | We did 2 vertical laps at school and 3 circuits and then left for our run. We ran on 13th east to 21st south, up to 19th east, over to Sunnyside, down to Guardsmin, to 5th south, back to Sunnyside, down to 15th east, over to 13th south, and back along 13th east. I felt okay the first half of the run but then I just felt sick. I was just glad to be done. Then we all went to KFC for mashed potatoes, we made Natalie and Dakota chug gravy and I tried it for the first time. Food run Thursday!

Saltair 15K (9.3 Miles) 01:16:23, Place in age division: 2 | | We all drove out to the water station for a mile warm up as a team. The wind was BRUTAL and we were not looking forward to the 2nd half of the race because of it. Then we all piled in Kiley's dad's car (9 people in a 5 seater...) and got to the starting line. My first half of the race was a pretty decent pace, I wasn't really racing though, more of just tempo running... As soon as I turned around the wind really hit me and my pace went down about a minute and I couldn't keep up with anyone to draft off of. My goal was to finish, because I seriously considered just stopping at the water station. Glad I finished though and got a finishers medal. I did 3/4 mile cool down to be at 55 for the week.

| | Got a school early out at 12:45 for the basketball game, so we went on our 12 miler and were done by 3, it was amazing. Except that I forgot socks. We ran along 13th east all the way to Cottonwood complex, and back along 11th. We took a detour both ways so we could drop off Bill's hoodie at his parents house and pick it up, and so we could add on so we could walk up the big hill on 9th south. At 11th east and 9th south we needed another half mile so we ran down to Great Harvest and turned around. On the very last step, one of the many blisters that had been forming the whole run popped. I took my shoes off and walked up the hill with everyone. I'm pretty happy that I was able to keep up with Bill, Natalie, Tomy, and Chris, well for most of it, I fell back a bit but then caught back up and decided that I could stay up because I'm tough.

| | Speed workout. Also first official day of outdoor season. We had a track meeting and did paperwork with everyone before doing 1 vertical lap, stretching and drills. After that, Nat drove a few of us out to the oval for 5 1000s. When we got there we did 2 miles of warm up and a mile of speed changes and another lap for less cool down laps. We went around the track the long way to the 1000 start. I was supposed to be hitting 3:40-45 with Bill and Sarah, so we took turns leading. Bill led the first one and I got 3:41, then Sarah led and I got a 3:42. The third one would be the hardest and I was leading, so I really pushed and got a 3:40. The next one Bill led again and I fell back a bit but caught back up for a 3:41. My last one I was supposed to lead the first lap then let Bill take over, but then I sort of lost it and got a 3:53. At least I was under 4. We did a lap between each one for recovery, so we only had 7 laps total for cool down before heading home.

| | Today we met up at the track for workout. We did 2 laps around the track for a team warm up and Tomy, Natalie, and I led stretches. We have so many freshmen, I hope they survive! We did our dynamic routine stuff and then did 6 drill laps with our bleacher stairs, high knees, butt kicks, power skips, grapevines east, grapevines west, and toes. We did another lap on the track and Nat, Tomy, Chris, Sarah, Bill, and I went on a 7.5 mile run to be at 10 for the day. I was not feeling it today, I couldn't keep up with people and it was pretty miserable because I didn't really know what run we were doing. It was adventure run, the one that Susannah, Suzette, Amanda, Natalie and I made up the day after xc regions 2010. By the time I got to the U campus after going past Shriners and through the JCC area, it started to snow. It got heavier and heavier and on Guardsmin I couldn't see very well. As soon as I started going down Sunnyside, I was blinded because I was going into the wind and there was a LOT of snow. I got to the track and did 2.5 laps in the snowy wasteland of horror. Then we went into the shed while waiting for my dad to come get all of us, and I saw his car but he didn't see us so he drove away. Really Dad? Patience.

| | After all the usual track warm up, drills, and stretching, we did wall sits, step ups, and other stuff before going on a run. We went along 13th east to the cemetery, then up to Guardsmin and did our Shriners run to 11th avenue and a couple blocks further than the fire station before turning around and going back the exact same way, including the cemetery loop. I was doing alright until we hit the U campus on the way up, the uphills started to get to me and I'm pretty brutally worn out this week. 18 miles left... So I fell behind and ran alone the rest of the way, and since it's Food Run Thursday we all went to Wendy's and got food.

| | Speed at the oval this morning. There was a speed skating thing there, so there was a lot of equipment in lanes one and two, and a ton of spectators. We did a mile warm up and stretched, then did another mile warm up and speed changes. We changed shoes and ran over to the start of the mile. On our first lap, there was an announcement about clearing lanes 1 and 2 for the runners, which made me really happy. I hit my first 400 too fast, the next one too slow, and the last two were slow as well. I got a 6:07, which was bad considering I was supposed to be a 5:50-55. We did 2 laps recovery and then a set of 4 400s. Some spectators had moved back into lane one, and some old ladies barricaded it with some chairs. Jerks. So we did our 400s in lanes 3 and 4, I shared lane 4 with Sarah. I got 1:20, 1:21, 1:21, and 1:22 my first set, then we did 2 laps recovery then another set of 4 400s, I got 1:23, 1:24, 1:23, 1:22. We did 2 more laps before changing shoes then did 5 laps in our trainers. I kinda wanna watch Kung Fu Panda and then name Tomy, Natalie, Chris, Sarah, and I the furious five, Bill can be the big fat panda :)

We did a lap in the cemetery, then went down through the neighborhood we like (actually...dislike) to run through when we do the cemetery run. We dropped down to 13th east and went to 21st south and into the park. We did a lap on the road and met back by the marquee. I felt pretty okay the whole run, not really any issue with falling back too far. I'm just glad the week is done.

| | Missed practice today so I had to go do my own 12 mile run. I ran from my house to Sugarhouse, did a big grass loop, ran up 21st south to 21st east, up and over by Hillside Middle School, up to Foothill, all the way to Sunnyside, did a lap in Sunnyside, ran along 17th east to Harrison Ave, down to 15th east, over to 15th and 15th, down to 14th east, and home. I felt okay the whole run, mainly because I was by myself, except pushing was rather hard because I was by myself. When I got home I had a missed call from Bill saying to go run 3 mile tempo on a treadmill to catch up on my miles, but when I was about to go to the gym my sister informed me that my membership expired last week. So now I get to add on every day this week and be a stud...

| | Took the ACT today. Since we got out of the test at 12:30 I went home, was locked out, went to ZoBell's for food, and to Natalie's to get a ride to the oval. It was nice to be able to leave right at 2:30 and be there by 3:00. We did a mile warm up and stretching, then another mile warm up and a mile speed changes plus a lap recovery. Then we did 2 800s with recovery laps and I hit 2:48 and 2:52. Then we did 2 sets of 5 300s (originally 3 sets but Bill changed his mind so we could have a long enough cool down to get the lactic out) I hit consistent 58-59s the whole time with Bill and Kiley, we took turns leading. We did 5 laps of cool down and then since I needed another mile, Bill needed another mile, and Kiley missed our first mile, the three of us did another mile to catch up. I think I'm going to do a mile before practice starts tomorrow and depending on where we finish another mile. I just don't want to do more than 10 miles on Saturday, but that's probably what I'll end up doing...

| | Before practice started I ran a mile to catch up. Then as a whole team we did half mile, stretches, and dynamic drills before breaking into groups. I went with the usual group up Sunnyside to 19th east, over to Harrison Ave, and down to Browning Circle to pick up Natalie. Then we ran over to 17th south down to 15th east and over to Sugarhouse park. We did a big lap in there and I started to crash. When we got up to 19th east we took our cemetery route but turned around as soon as we hit 6, then turned and came back the exact same way. As soon as I got back everyone had done another half mile but then Kiley had to go and she was my ride home so I had to go as well.

| | So far I'm at 8 miles, I should go run another mile tonight, but after I get new shoes. I'm at about 540 miles on these, no wonder I haven't been able to pick my legs up and why I'm so sore. We did the usual 2 laps warm up and stretching and drills. Bill and Tolbert divided us into boys and girls, then formed teams of 4. My team had 5 girls on it, Avvy, Kathrine, Izzy, Grace and I, but Izzy had to go so we were an even 4. We did a 4 by 400, Izzy started us, Grace was next, then me, then Kathrine. Then we did a 4 by 200, Avvy started us off, then handed off to Grace, then to me, and I handed it off to Kathrine. Then we did a double 4 by 100. Kathrine started this time, then handed off to me and I handed off to Grace who handed it off to Avvy who did a 200 and gave it back to Kathrine who gave it back to me who gave it back to Grace. I think that should be a scored event, it's fun. Then I went on a run with the usual group. We ran down to 13th east over to Sugarhouse park and started a road lap. We met at the bottom of the hill we run up for 400s and did 4 hills. Then we ran over to the hill by Highland where there was a lacrosse game and did 4 more hills. After my 4th one I ran straight to my dentist on 13th east, and once my teeth were all clean and shiny I went right back out. I ran to the school and then turned around and ran home. Now it's off to Salt Lake Running Co for some new shoes or I'll be injured!

I didn't really do this barefoot, I did this in an older pair of shoes because my other ones are at 550 miles. My legs hurt! We did the usual half mile warm up with the team and drills. Distance did a speed workout, we did a mile warm up and a mile speed changes and varsity did an extra lap. We did 2 sets of 800, 600, 400, 300, 200. I was to hit 2:40, 2:00, 1:20, 55, and 40 with Kiley, Dakota, and Patrick. I felt okay mentally and with my breathing, but my legs are full of so much lactic and I could not pick them up. I ran 2:48, 2:07, 1:23, 56, and 42 my first set. We did some recovery and then our next set, and I totally crashed. 3:03, 2:14, 1:26, 59, and 42. We did a mile and a half cool down by running up to Sunnyside park, doing a lap and coming back. It was like a triple score day because we ran our cool down with Ben Saarel and passed by the East and Judge lacrosse practices. SCORE! Yeah, a bunch of hotties right there. Then we went to Costa Vida for food. I really need new running shoes. I think I'm going to go die now. 14.5 miles tomorrow? I have to be at the Temple by 9 and in Ogden by 1... Maybe I'll just go running in Ogden... FML

| | No I did not do this run barefoot, just on that same old pair of shoes that gets my feet all dusty and gross. Today instead of doing the track warm up, the distance runners drove down to the school where we loaded the high jump mats into Nat's truck to bring them up to the track. After that we stretched and did Tim's drills before breaking into our groups. Distance was to do the Adventure run backwards, but I didn't hear that, I heard "City Creek Run" and I could not keep up with the group today, so Ki, Patrick, Sarah and I fell back and decided to run together. Ki, Patrick and I went along 11th ave all the way to City Creek. We were wondering where Sarah was, I guess she had gone the right way. Anyway, we ran around City Creek and behind the Capitol, then down State Street to South Temple and all the way up to 13th east. Patrick lost us at South Temple, and when K and I looked back to see where he was we couldn't see him at all. We think he disappeared off the face of the earth. When we got to 13th east we ran over to 8th south and back up to the track. While on 13th east some Brazilian guy running started talking to us, and every time he stopped talking I would continue telling Kiley my story from Saturday and he would interrupt me again. We tried to slow down and let him pass us but he slowed down too, so we were glad when we turned up 8th south. At the track we did a lap before Bill told us to do 2 300s to be at 10. But we were at then! So we did one of the 300s then before the next one he asked us where we went, and when we told him we were able to just do another lap in the outside lanes of the track to be at 10.5. We are stud.muffins.

|
| | Today we decided on saving speed for tomorrow because it was windy. We did all the usual track warm up and drills, and only had to do 8.25 because we already had 1.75 with the drills. We ran to Sugarhouse along 15th east, did 2 grass laps, and back the same way. It was awful because my legs are dead and I can barely walk. I fell back with Kiley and Sarah, and then I think everyone crashed. It wasn't a good day.

| | Team time trials and speed today. We had a mini meet with just our team, a 100, a 1600, an 800, and a 400 'race'. We all did the half mile warm up with stretching and drills before doing our events. While the 100 dash people were having their trials, the distance people did 1 mile warm up and a mile speed changes. After those we went to the start. I got a pretty good start, I hit a 1:25, then at the 800 a 2:56, I don't know my 1200, and my final was a 5:58. We did a lap recovery before doing the 800 with a lot more people. It was a bad start because Kiley and I had to start behind while all the new freshmen started on the waterfall. Bad idea. Why? Because they all instantly cut in and I had to run around them all once they stopped sprinting the first 100 meters. I was a 1:26 split, and a final of 2:48. We did another lap recovery while they did some 400 heats and then we finished our whole speed workout with 6 400s. I got 82, 83, 81, 82, 84, and 82, pretty good and consistent considering I had a ton of lactic acid in my legs. We had to do a 4 mile cool down which was awful. We ran up Sunnyside to Foothill, down by the VA and back to the track. Ki and I couldn't keep up with the others, it's a cool down and we're already dead, our legs weigh a ton and we're not as fast as the others. When we got to the track we still needed about a mile and a quarter, so we did 3 grass loops without the hill, running around the soccer field three times where we almost got hit in the face by a lot of soccer balls, and the soccer boys were whistling. Oh man. I'm just glad that this weeks speed is out of the way and that tomorrows just another run. Oh, just another run.....

| | After the usual track warm up and such, Bill was busy handing out uniforms, so the distance people just ran around because we wanted a shorter run, and Ki and I had to make it to the lacrosse game. Ki and I ran around the soccer field a few times and were at 3.25 miles when Bill was finished and could run with us. We ran up Sunnyside to Shoreline, then along Shoreline to Red Butte and up to the gate. Ki and I were parched, and none of the drinking fountains were on, so we just drank from the creek. Don't worry, we're fine, we flushed it out of our systems, and Jesse and I did it over the summer during hill week at the JCC, we were fine. We ran down through the dorms to Legacy Bridge and down by the Huntsman Center until we got to Guardsman way and went down Sunnyside back to the track. We had to leave instantly to have time to get ready and go to the lax game. |

East, Judge, Brighton (0.5 Miles) 00:02:37, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | Today was our first outdoor meet of the season, yay! We did the half mile warm up and stretching as a team, then I did another half mile. The whole time I didn't have socks, so I didn't bother wearing shoes. Finally my mom brought me socks, so I put my shoes on and did a mile warm up and a mile speed changes. I did some drills and strides with the other milers, then we started. The boys and girls were combined, and I was in the 2nd row behind the boys. I beat a lot of them. My start was pretty fast, I thought it was too fast, because my time at the 400 was 1:17, but I felt fine so I worked on passing the 2 Judge girls in front of me. I passed them with an 800 at 2:45, and my next lap was at a 4:12ish. My final time was somewhere in the 5:30s, I'm not sure where but I don't think it was a PR. I cooled down from that race and a few minutes later warmed back up for the 300 hurdles and the 800 right after. I mainly did the hurdles for fun, but I twisted weirdly on one of them, and I don't want to get injured so I might not be hurdling this year. I had a few minutes to prepare for the 800, so I just did some strides in my spikes. I got an okay start, people were cutting in early but I got around them. My first lap was about a 1:16, and as I was in the last 300 meters I passed one of the Judge girls, and with about 150 to go I passed the other, so I got 2nd to Natalie again. I love how our team is always 1 and 2 :) After the 800 I declared done for the day and just to get a 4 mile cool down in. I went up to Sunnyside and did a big lap around the park with Scotty, we passed the Judge lacrosse team. Score. When I got back to the track I ran a bit more and then decided since I only needed 2 more miles for the day I would do the 3200. There were 4 Brighton boys, 1 Brighton girl, Sarah, and I all running it. I just ran it as a cool down-tempo style run, and still chicked one of the boys. After that race I declared done for the day, but then a part of me got really hyper and wanted to be a leg in the 4 by 400, so Sarah, Grace, Ellie and I formed a last second team. Sarah did our first leg, then Grace, then me, then Ellie. We were dead last, but it was still tons of fun! :) I did another lap cool down to be at 10.5 and get some lactic out of my legs, and to have less miles to do tomorrow. It was a pretty good meet, and it was lots of fun. |

| | Susannah and I met up with Bill, Kim, and Tomy at the Highland marquee. The wind was blowing strongly north, so we decided to drive out by Bill's house so we could just run north to our cars. Kim dropped us off at the pond and we ran around it. I liked this run alot. We ran across a really wiggly bridge, and Tomy started jumping, it hurt Susannah and mine's legs but it was so fun! Anyway, we ran along a parkway for a bit before getting on Holladay Blvd, running by Olympus and all those places. Stupid Oly. Anyway, Susannah ran her own run, so I had to run with Bill and Tomy the whole time. I managed to keep up, and it wasn't so bad, but that's probably because 1. I didn't want to get lost, and 2. the wind was pushing me forward, and 3. I was excited for the day. We finished off at Highland. It was a pretty good run.

| | Today we met up at the track as usual, but Nat had to take me home to get my shoes. I couldn't find my trainers, so I just grabbed my flats. Anyways, since the girls are going to the Davis Girls Super Meet tomorrow, we had less to run. We did the half mile warm up and drills with the team, then I went with Natalie, Chris, Tomy, Sarah, and Kevin to do 2 miles warm up, 2 miles speed changes, and 2 miles cool down. I stayed up with Tomy and Natalie the whole time and listened to their funny conversation about school. By the time Nat and I finished, the boys still had 4 miles to go (I would say ha ha suckers but now the girls are behind in miles...) so we did our core and went home.

Davis Super Meet Girls (2 Miles) 00:11:53, Place overall: 3, Place in age division: 2 | | Did a warm up with Natalie and Sarah. All three of us were put in the second heat in the mile so we had plenty of time to do drills before our race. Natalie and I took the first two seed spots (because we can) and the girl next to me cut right in front of me and threw an elbow, then I got boxed in and had a terrible start. Once I got into position to move up, on the second lap some girl started elbowing me on purpose, so I finally decided to fight back and give her a taste of her own medicine, HARD. That's when I gained a ton on her and she couldn't keep up. Mess. With. Me. I moved up to 3rd place in the 3rd lap, with only Natalie and Laura in front of me, but then in the last lap a Bingham girl picked up a kick really soon and I tried to stay with her but I couldn't, and then a Davis girl outkicked me in the last hundred, which made me really upset about my race. I hit a 5:28, and that's a PR by about 4 seconds, but I really was going for a place today. I took my garmin out for a little adventure run to clear my head of the mile and prepare for the 2 mile. When I checked in with Natalie and Sarah, we did our drills and lined up. Natalie and I took the 2 spots in lane 1 again (because we can) and I planned out my start this time. I was next to the same girl, and I was just going to have to throw my elbow first. She threw her elbow first, but didn't cut in soon enough, so I took the opportunity to get out of the pack fast. I let Natalie take a Davis girl out hard, then 2 other girls raced each other and I focused on trying to catch those two girls. Eventually the Davis girl realized that Natalie was too fast, and died so I passed her, then I outkicked the girl who outkicked me in the mile, give her a taste of that. Yeah, I'm brutal when it comes to racing, I just hate everyone and get angry, then I do better. I needed 3 more miles for the day, so Sarah and I ran in the direction of my cousin's house which is about 4 miles away from Davis high. We went a mile and a half out and back, and then realized that the team was all on the bus waiting. Today was the first day ever that I've liked my 2 mile better than my 1 mile.

Then Natalie, Tomy, Chris, Sarah and I did 2 miles warm up, 2 miles speed changes, and 2 miles cool down. I had to run on the grass and they had to run out in lane three, so when we got to the cool down I did another big lap and then 8 around the football field, staying on the grass. I'm excited for Pine View tomorrow.

PineView Invite 1600 (1 Miles) 00:05:26, Place overall: 9, Place in age division: 2 | | We all drove down to St George this morning for Pine View, it was a full car. When we got there, I did a mile and a half warm up with Natalie, Sarah, and Kiley, then we did drills and strides. Natalie, Kiley and I were in the seeded race. What I like about the distance races in PineView is that they do the fastest heat of girls, the fastest heat of boys, then the slowest to faster heats of girls then boys. It sucks for the people who barely didn't make the cut though, unless they feel like they need more time to get ready. Today was one of those days where I just wanted to be done. It was a waterfall start and I was in the 2nd waterfall as seed 5. I don't know what happened at the start, I guess I spaced out and it didn't hit me that the gun had fired. I still got out okay though. I was doing great the first three laps, pushing hard. I started the 4th lap strong, but once I hit that last 300 it got to me and 2 girls passed me. I tried to match, but it felt like I was running into a wall. On the final stretch another girl passed me, so I ended up 9th. I PR'd and got a 5:26, but I was really upset because I know I could've pushed harder that last 300 but mentally I was breaking down. I went and ran a mile with Natalie and Kiley before Sarah's race, then all of us went on a cool down. Since Kiley and I have the 3200 tomorrow, we went on a 3 miler with her dad, Sam, Sarah, Dakota, and Caden. Adventure run much? Once we got back we went and got food and everyone else left for home while I stayed down for the 3200 tomorrow.

PineView Invite 3200 (2 Miles) 00:11:40, Place overall: 7, Place in age division: 1 | | Today was the 3200 at PineView. When I got to the meet, Kiley and I checked into the bullpen and then did a mile warm up and a mile speed changes backwards on the track. We did our strides and drills and eavesdropped on other coaches telling their athletes what to do. We went with the plan to hit 1:25 each lap no slower than 1:30. I was seeded 6th so once again I started in the 2nd waterfall. I got out pretty fast, but not too fast. I stayed with Kiley and McKenzie the first mile, and I was running on the outside because I didn't want to cut in front of nice people. I knew that Woods Cross girl who grabbed my elbow at the Oval and tried to push me off the track at Simplot was close behind me because people were cheering for her, so I made sure that she was far behind me. On the 6th lap is where I broke off from Kiley and Kenzie, and I went on to pass a couple of people. Once I got to that last 300, the memory of yesterday came back to me and I decided it wasn't going to happen, in fact I was going to make up for it. So I worked my arms faster and outkicked people, ending up in 7th with a time of 11:40. Kiley and I did a mile cool down before talking to her dad, who told us to go for another 3 miles. So we went out and ran through the neighborhood, and we were talking about what a coincidence it would be if we saw Benny, and lone behold, we saw him so we followed him for about a mile, then we lost him. I think he was hiding from us. We continued running through the neighborhood and almost got attacked by a dog. After our cool down we went back to the meet and looked at our times, I was 3.53 seconds off of qualifying for state. (UGH) We went to Jack in the Box and got lots of tacos before heading home. We made some new friends on the highway.

| | Today we met at the track for workout. We started with 2 laps warm up and stretching, and drills, lots and lots of drills. After drills we did circuits before breaking into groups. Distance was doing our Avenue hill stride workout. We all ran over to U Street on South Temple and strode up a street, recover down the next, stride up the next, all the way to 11th Avenue and whatever letter street we were on. We regrouped at 11th and ran along 11th ave to Shriners and down through the neighborhood and U campus. Kiley and I fell behind and when we got back Bill said to add up to 8 or 9, whatever we were feeling. We did 8.5 total today, we added on by running around the soccer field a bunch. Then Bill instructed us to start doing 3 sets of 10 weighted lunges and squats, 25 crunches, 10 pushups (I can maybe do 5 man ones, 15 girl ones...)and arms 1 min on 1 min off. Gee, I wonder whose blog he read that one off of *cough cough Susannah cough cough* Susannah and I had the following conversation: "Bill's making us do these sets every night from now on." "Weird, that's what we do! I'm sorry I blogged about it." "If you do harder stuff don't blog about it." "Oh don't worry I'm too lazy to blog about that." I love my sister.

| | I got kidnapped at 5:45 this morning because I made ensemble! Oh right, this is a running blog, not a normal blog. Anyway, today for practice we did the usual 2 laps warm up, stretching, and drills. Then we were doing a speed workout with the sprinters, but not really. Distance did a mile of speed changes, which was weird without our mile warm up first. We did 3 1200s with a lap recovery after each one. I hit a 4:30, 4:27, and 4:28. We actually did 2 laps after the third one, then did 6 200s with a minute of standing recovery. We did a grass lap before going on a 4.5 mile cool down, up Sunnyside to Foothill, down 5th south to 13th east, over to 8th south, back to the track and adding on. I stayed with Natalie, Tomy, Chris, and Bill all the way up Sunnyside, which was a new push for me. I stayed with them part of the way going down 5th south, but lost them just before the light at Guardsman. When I got back to the track, I was instructed to do a grass lap and a track lap to be at 10 miles for the day. Nat drove me back down to the school for my APHUG studysesh...

Highland Cyprus @ East (1 Miles) 00:05:34, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | I did half a mile with Sam at the start, then another half mile after team stretches. I massaged out my sore muscles then picked up my garmin. I did another mile before the mile, then some drills and strides before the start. They combined boys and girls, and I started on the back line behind Tomy and in between 2 Highland boys. The only thing I don't like about starting with the boys is that they all think that just because they're boys that they can beat you, so they think they can cut in front of you. WRONG! I chicked more boys today than were ahead of me. I ran my 2nd and 3rd lap with a Highland guy who was trying to stay with me, but I picked up my 4th lap and lost him so I went on my way, chicking them all. I kicked hard and I'm happy with my race, not to bad for a practice meet, considering it was only 6 seconds off my PR. I ran up to Sunnyside park with Tomy, Natalie, Chris, and Sarah (the furious five) and ran a lap in the park, then we did fartlek, 90 seconds on and 90 seconds off, ten sets. I felt like I pushed myself, especially because every time I ran into the wind it was during an on, and every time I ran with the wind to my back it was an off. We finished a big lap around the park before heading back down to the stadium. I did a grass loop to get my garmin to 9 (because I did a mile around the track without it) and then we helped put hurdles away and went home.

| | Today I was late to practice because of Ensemble practice, but when I got there I changed and did 2 laps as everyone else did drills. Distance ran down to Liberty Park, where we did a tempo run. Natalie, Tomy, Chris, Bill, Kiley, Sarah and I all had to do a 6 mile tempo at 7 minute pace. We all started together, and eventually I was running with Tomy, Natalie, and Bill. I had to keep mentally telling myself that I could do it, that I was doing so good, that if I had made it this far I could finish strong. Tomy and Natalie broke off at mile 3 to go run with Chris, so I stuck to Bill, determined not to fall off. I drafted off of him into the wind, and a couple of times I fell back but always told myself to catch up to him and make it easier. When we finished, we were about 40 minutes and 30 seconds, a minute and a half faster than what we were planning. Turns out it was a 6:45 average pace. I feel quite accomplished. We ran back up to the track and added on until we were at 11 miles for the day, then we all went home. I want some ice cream...

UHSTCA Outdoor Championships (2 Miles) 00:12:03, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2
Today was the UHSTCA Outdoor Championships at Taylorsville High School. When we got there, they were already calling for the girls 1600, so Natalie, Sarah, and I went and checked in. I was hip 8 in the 1st heat. After check in, Nat and I put on our spikes, then warmed up. It was the weirdest thing ever, warming up in my spikes. I did half mile warm up and half mile speed changes plus strides. At the start, I got cut off immediately, and I worked with the group for the first lap or so. Near the end of the 2nd lap and beginning of the 3rd lap, I wasn't able to push myself, I don't really know why, I didn't hurt, but I did. I was dead last in my heat with a final time of 5:50, which is really bad for me considering how well I've been doing. I did a 2 mile cool down with Natalie and Sarah, and we took pictures by the Taylorsville sign to send to Taylor and Taylor. I pitched my tent back at the spot and napped pretty much all day, having a hamburger for lunch. I kept napping until it was time to go warm up. I did a mile and a half with Natalie, then we did strides and such until the start. There was 1 heat of 28 girls, which was a little crowded, but I'm glad I was seed 3 and on the front line, which motivated me to get out fast. At the gunfire, hip 4 grabbed my arm but I elbowed her. Then a Davis girl shoved me, but I shoved back and passed her to get out hard with Nat. Yeah, I'm vicious. After a little bit, Alyssa passed me and went up with Nat. I worked with 2 other girls, and we randomly traded off who got to draft. The same girl who grabbed my arm at the start kept trying to trip me, so I abandoned her and had to fight the 21mph wind by myself. Alyssa fell off Nat, and in the last 300 is where I passed her. She passed me back in the last 200, and the last 100 was a neck and neck battle. I didn't even know who won our battle, I still don't know my time (Because whoever posts the times is really slow!) but the official at the finish said I got it, so I walked away with silver, Nat gold :) I did a mile and a half cool down while cheering on Tomy and Chris in their 3200, and cheering on our 4x4 teams. I was actually pretty happy I didn't do so well in the 1600, I believe it helped me save it for the 3200.

I was supposed to be hitting 80 on my 400s and 2:38 on my 800s. I hit 80, then 3 flat, then 83. We did a lap of recovery before the second set and I hit 83, 2:59, and 82. We needed another 2.75 to be at 8, so we did our Foothill Loop and came back along Guardsman. We hit 8 before the track without realizing, so we just did a big lap on the track to be at 8 for the day.

Then we did our warm ups for our speed workout, distance did our 1 mile warm up and 1 mile speed changes. We were doing the 400-200 chase workout, 3 sets. I was partnered with Yance and I did a 400 first in a group with Patrick and Dakota. He caught me fast! I got a 1:17. For the 200 I didn't catch him, but after that he was done so I moved into a group with Sarah, Noemi, and Gabrielle, who were partnered with Dominique and Summer. I felt better about being in this group because Patrick and Dakota went out really fast the first one and I fell back. On this one my 200 runner didn't catch me and I hit a 1:18. On my next 200 I can't remember if I caught my person or not. On the last 400 nobody caught me and on my last 200 I caught everyone. At the start of the race I was with the pack but I had a really bad sideache the first two laps. On the third lap I was in dead last and the next girl was almost 100 meters in front of me. On the fourth lap is where I started to feel comfortable, something that should NEVER happen in a race. I picked it up and on my 5th lap I started passing multiple people, including the girl who had cut in front of me earlier in the race. Davis Invitational (2 Miles) 00:11:50 | | I had to use my old trainers today because my current ones are locked up in my locker. Stupid school administration. Anyway, today was Davis Invite. I did my warm up with Sarah before doing our strides and drills. I was in the 2nd heat of the open 1600, and I did awful. I started fast, then that short Davis girl elbowed me really hard in the stomach, which made me really mad. I started out about a 75, and wondered how long I could keep up the pace. Not very. I didn't have any kick left. I did some more cool down and then went to my cousins house to take a nice long nap before my 3200 and 4x800 later. For my 3200 I did the same warm up with Natalie and Tomy, then strides. I got an okay start, and another Davis girl elbowed me hard, so I fought back this time and elbowed the bleep out of her. My first mile was a 5:55, and I knew that I REALLY needed to hit a negative split to qualify for state. In my last 150 meters, I heard someone say "11:30!" and I knew that I didn't have the time. As soon as I finished we did a 4x800. Sarah was our starter, then Noami, then me, and finally Nat. We did alright, it was more of a fun thing I guess, but it hurt. Good to know that Davis is going to get a new track, because the current one SUCKS.

BYU Invitational (2 Miles) 00:11:59 | | Today at BYU Invite, I did a 2 mile warm up with Natalie and Bill, we went out a mile and back. Nat and I were both in the fast heat, which was the 2nd heat in the 3200. At the starting line, the official made me upset because I asked if I could build a sand castle in the long jump pit, and he said no. Oh well I'll try again tomorrow. Anyway, at the start the American Fork girl elbowed me and cut right in front of me, but I got around her. At the first mile I was a 5:46, so I needed to pick it up a bit. I felt like I had picked it up, but really the pain kicked in more, because I ran an 11:59. I'm not too happy with my race, but at least I know what I should do tomorrow in the 1600. Congrats to Natalie for breaking the state record, you stud-muffin! For a cooldown, I ran with Nat and Bill a random loopy route around Provo, and some people gave us free food, hot dogs, chips, cookies... Yum. And bottled water. Then we went to Denny's for some bacon. Now it's time for me to ice and eat noodles. Yum. |

Provo Invitational (0.5 Miles) 00:02:35, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1
Today we were stuck in traffic due to the Provo half marathon, so Bill kicked me off the bus about 2 blocks away from the stadium so I could run to check in and warm up. I did about a mile total with strides and drills. This was for the BYU Invite for my mile. My start was pretty stellar, I got out fast and didn't have to put up with people elbowing me. I was right on pace for a 5:22, but on my last lap, I felt like I was pushing really hard but I guess I was in so much pain I couldn't really tell. I ended up with a 5:37. Right after my race, Bill told me I could go down to Provo Invite and run the mile for my 6th invitational and try again for state. I had just given everything, so I kinda knew I wouldn't have anything left anyway. Besides, when I got there the mile was over, so Kiley and I signed up for the 800. There were only 8 girls signed up, so they did a lane start. I was in lane one, so it wasn't weird for me. My first lap was a 76, Kiley right on my tail. I knew we had to stay strong in order to hit our goal times. We ended up getting 1 and 2 about 1 second apart, and the rest of the pack was about 10 seconds behind. Later, Kiley and I did a 6 mile cool down by going down to the Provo River trail and ending at Panda Express, so we bought food and went back to the meet to hang out with Park City. I made lots of friends today. |

| | Today was speed. We did the usual warm up, stretching, and drills routine before breaking into groups. We did 1 mile warm up and 1 mile of speed changes. Then we did 3 400s with a lap recovery each. I got 77, 83, and 80. For our 3 200s we did equal recovery, and I hit 39, 36, and 37. Ki and I did laps around the stadium (soccer field=soccer boys. ahhhyeahhh yolo) to be at 7 for the day.

Regions (2 Miles) 00:11:48, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | Today was day 2 of regions. I did my warmup with my garmin and was 2nd seed in the 3200. At the start, that darn WX freshmeat grabbed my arm but she's had it coming to her all season so she got a hard elbow right in the chest. I went out in front of the pack trailing behind Natalie. For the first 5 laps I made a Bountiful girl running with me swing wide, and I figured she would die off. I was right, she faded and I heard Bill tell me to make a good speed change to get a good lead on the pack (those WX kids are kickers -Susannah)(Yeah, fine. -Susannah) so I did some good ones and finished in a strong 2nd feeling very sick but very accomplished. I'm so glad I MADE IT TO STATE! I did some cool down and then warmed up for my 800, but then I scratched to be fresher for the Medley 800, so I ran another mile in my spikes because I was too lazy to change them. Avvy started out a strong Medley, she fell as she passed the baton to Sara, but Ellie caught us back up and into 4th. When I started the 800, the Clearfield anchor sprinted past me, but I knew I shouldn't start out sprinting because most 800 anchors are dumb, and I'm not. I passed the Highland girl, and I got the Clearfield girl just before the final straightaway. WE'RE GOING TO STATE!!!! (4 exclamation points for 4 amazing girls - Susannah) I did a cool down with my jingly medals!

We ducked so it hit the kid behind us...

Today we met early at the track. We did 2 miles warm up and a mile of speed changes. Then we did 3 sets of 500, straight into a 100 of recovery, and straight into a 200. Basically 3 800s with the final backstretch to recover. We did 2 300s and went to cool down for 2 miles. We went up to Sunnyside park and did a lap and came back. I need to go run 3 miles later tonight, I'll see if someone wants to go run with me. Evening run. Sarah and I decided to do our 3 miler together so it would be more fun. We started at Sarah's house and went along 17th east to Sunnyside, did a lap, and went back to her house. On the way back, we could've sworn we saw a green bug with a Hello Kitty sticker on the window going down Harvard, so we followed Kiley and stalked her as she picked up her baseball game date. Our detour was excellent because we finished our run at exactly where we started. It was hot but we survived.

After sitting in an AP test all morning, I went down and did about a half mile worth of warm up and strides with Avvy, Sara, and Ellie to get ready for our Medley. Avvy was our starter, then to Sara, to Ellie, to me. The handoff to Ellie from Sara was outside of the zone, and we got DQ'd, but they let us finish running and we PR'd by a second. Bill took me, Chris, Abdi, and Faysal on a 3 mile cool down along the Provo River Trail and then I put on my rainboots and went home. Now I need to go to bed and rest for the 3200 tomorrow... Utah State Championships 3200 (2 Miles) 00:11:42
Today was state day 2. I did 2 miles warmup with Bill and Natalie before going into the bullpen. Since it was the first running event, we didn't have to wait in the bullpen forever. I was seeded 13th and started in the 2nd alley. I got a good fast start, and the first 4 laps I was a little fast for my pace, but I felt great so I didn't back off. Bad idea. I hit my first mile at a 5:35, on pace for an 11:10, but the last few laps I was dying off. I worked on matching people passing me, and I was battling down the last stretch with that freshman who can't keep her hands to herself, and we caught someone else at the line, however out of the 3 of us I was last. I did 1 mile cool down and called it good for the day.

I went over to 9th south and up to 17th east, down 13th south to 15th east, and home. It's really hot out there and now is when everyone else told me they went to Pipeline. When we got there, Bill had us do 3 800s. Tomy and I did our first lap of each one in lane 2 while going over the hurdles that were placed to be barriers for steeplechase, and on our 2nd lap we were to cut into lane 1 and do a regular lap. After the 800s, Bill took me over to the long jump pit where he had set up the big red boxes the height of a barrier, and I was to run, jump on it, jump off, and have my 2nd foot past the line. It was really hard! I need to practice with a real barrier and water pit.

| | Today I met up with Bill, Tomy, Dakota, Chris, and Gavin at the U track. We did 1 mile warm up, 1 mile speed changes, and some drills and set up hurdles to act as barriers. We did an 800 and a 600 in lane one without the hurdles, then we did 2 800s with the hurdles. I was to do my first lap of my first one in lane 2 with the hurdles and clear the barrier with the water pit (we just left the pit closed) and my 2nd lap was just the water pit barrier. The next 800 we switched so that I had a normal lap with the water barrier, then the lap with the hurdles. We then set up a barrier at a sand pit and drew a line to clear with some hurdles after. After doing this drill several times, we did 10 strides (some of them with our eyes closed) and then 1 mile cool down. I'm going to be a little sore tonight...or alot...

| | Today we did 1 mile warm up and 1 mile speed changes. I then did an 800, and hit a 2:56. I was supposed to hit a 2:40 then I could be done. The first one was terrible and hurt a lot in the heat. The second one, Sarah did the first lap with me and Tomy paced me the 2nd. I barely got a 2:41, which REALLY hurt. Bill told me to do one more and I would be done. I was on pace my 1st lap, then died and got a 2:56. Then Bill made me angrier by telling me to do one more. I was 2 seconds off pace on my first lap, and slower the 2nd, which made me really mad. I was ready to be done, then I was told to do 4 35 second 200s. By now I was super ticked off. I hit all the 200 times, but when I was done I did half mile cool down and went home. Now I need to drink lots of water because I was dehydrated the whole workout and the water I drank at workout made my mouth all sticky. Not helpful.

Great Southwest 2000M Steeplechase (1.25 Miles) 00:07:45, Place overall: 4, Place in age division: 2
The Steeplechase was scheduled to start at 7:45, so Carrie and I went to the water barrier at about 7:00 to get some practice jumps. During the jumps, I almost ran into the barrier and with my sudden stop, my green shoe totally ripped. Bill wrapped athletic tape around it, and the blue one so that it wouldn't rip more. Cheapo shoes that cost a fortune. When Carrie and I went to get our numbers, I was seeded 1 and she was 5. The race people then told us that they moved it to 7:30, giving us no time to warm up whatsoever. We did a couple of strides to get our heart rates up before starting. For the first lap, they didn't have the first and second barriers set up, but when we got to the 200 mark we had the first one. My first jump into the water pit was alright, and I got out of it fast and went over the next barrier. I wasn't really thinking about the barrier right after the finish line, and saw it just in time to step on it and jump off. I worked my way up by keeping my eyes on the next girl, picking and passing. There were only 8 girls in the race and top 6 get medals, so my goal was to have at least 2 behind me. When I was on my 4th lap coming up on the barrier before the water pit barrier, I was watching the girl in front of me trying to pass her. I noticed she was dying on the hurdles of the barrier and then I saw that I was really close to it. I simply stepped over it as fast as I could and sprinted to the water pit. As I passed the girl the tape on my green shoe went flying off, and when I went into the water pit she passed me. When I got out of the water pit I sprinted to the girl and cleared the next barrier before her and looked at the 2 and 3 girls battling for 2nd because Carrie had a big lead on them. Going into my last lap I made every jump on the barrier and my water jump was alright. Coming out of the water pit on that last lap I saw that I could potentially catch the two girls in front of me, so I really worked it to that last barrier and to the finish. I didn't catch them, but it was my first time doing Steeplechase ever, and I'm happy with my time, happy with my place, and happy with my race. We watched the boys run and watched our Utah boys get 1, 2 and 6, then watched our boys 4x800 take 2nd and girls 1st. Then Bill took Carrie and I on a 3 mile cool down just around the big field and the stadium. Then we all went to Applebees for dinner. Time to focus on the 3200 that I didn't prepare for... Good thing Nat's flying down tomorrow and bringing me my old spikes, since these crappy overpriced spikes that I loved so much are really no good anymore. |

Great Southwest 3200 (2 Miles) 00:12:10, Place overall: 10, Place in age division: 6 | | Today I went on a morning 2 mile shakeout run with Carrie. We ran from our hotel to the track and back. Later that evening after we watched Disney's Beauty and the Beast on TV, we went to the meet. I did 1 mile of warmup with Carrie, Miranda, Summer, and Natalie. As we got our numbers and spiked up we met up with Emily and lined up. I got an okay start, not to fast, but I wish I had went out harder with my fellow Utah girls, who took spots 1-5. I focused on picking and passing people. There was a New Mexico girl who said the F bomb every time I passed her, so I distanced myself from her because it was really annoying. I spent the rest of the race chasing after a Nevada girl, and I failed to catch her. I feel like I did horrible, but the happiness from the Steeplechase yesterday was still in me so I didn't let it bug me. Oh, I also raced in my old purple spikes that Natalie flew down with her this morning. Thanks Nat! I started out fast and spent the first 2 laps drafting off of the other girl, but then she was crashing and going too slow for me to draft, so on the third lap after drafting on her for the backstretch I went ahead of her. | | Today I slept in so I decided to wait for a night run. When it got cooler it was pretty dark, and my mom would only let me run back and forth along 14th east, so that's what I did for 2 miles. It sucked. I will for sure be hitting 60 this coming week, rather than getting sick. |

Abigail is faster than Bryce (1 Miles) 00:07:00, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | After months of putting up with Bryce's everyday comments of "You're slow" "I could beat you" and "Hey Slow" we decided to race home from Grandma's house, 1 mile away. He got a little bit of a head start, but I overtook him in seconds. About 200m into our race he pretended to twist his ankle because he was embarrassed by his slowness. So I kept running to the finish and I beat him fair and square because he's slow. And I got to hold baby Meg. We didn't time it so I just put in a 7 minute. And barefoot because I was wearing my high tops. BRYCE IS SLOW BRYCE IS SLOW BRYCE IS SLOW :) |

Today we met at a parking lot between Parleys bridges on 33rd south. We ran out half mile, then back to the trail head by Parleys to run on the trail. We ran on the trail until we came out by Thunderbird, then we ran up to Wasatch Blvd and over past the golf course and zoo. We rested for a minute in some shade up behind the zoo before heading back the same way. I got a really bad sideache and my legs started to feel really heavy, but I kept running until I was done. Naptime! Oh, that was the 10 miler. Later, I was a really upset and I needed to go running to get away from people. I thought that I would just do 14th and 15th east laps, but instead I felt really good about running, so I changed my route. I went along 14th east to 17th south, up to 15th east, over to 9th south, up to 17th east, over to Emerson, and back the exact route. I ran an extra mile on 14th east because I was still feeling really good. It was weird because my average pace was about 8:05.

Murray Fun Days (3.1 Miles) 00:20:53, Place overall: 6, Place in age division: 1 | | I did a 2 mile warm up with Susannah around the park and then we did our strides and stuff. At the turn around point I counted 5 girls in front of me, my sister in 1st. No other girls passed me throughout the rest of the race. I got a bad sideache at the 3 mile mark, but I toughed it out and finished. I ran a cool down of however far. I'll probably end up running later today for fun.

| | Today I met up with Kiley and Ryan at Draper park for a long run. We ran along the parkway, out 5 miles and back 5 miles. I really like that trail, it was slightly uphill on the way out which meant down on the way back. It was nice and cool because of the rain. Our average pace was an 8:30.

| | Today we met at the park and ride to go up to Pipeline. The run was alright, except for the tripping. At about mile 2 my foot latched onto a plant and I fell down, getting a small cut on my knee and some dirt on my hands, no big deal. At about mile 6 while I was running over all the stupid rocks, I tripped again, this time I rolled down on my knees and hit my shoulder and arm and got some more small cuts. Tomy and Nat passed me, and I decided to stay with them as long as I could so I could be done sooner, but after about half a mile I died off. When I got back I went up along the boardwalk and back to be at exactly 10.

After a long day in Roosevelt I finally made it home for my run. I went along 14th east, up 17th south, along 15th east, up 13th south to 17th east, to Sunnyside, up to Foothill, down half mile up half mile, along Foothill to 17th south, down to 14th east, home, and back and forth on 14th east to finish my miles. DANG IT. I'm half mile short. I'll be right back. 5 minutes later. Okay! I'm good!

| | Today I slept in and was woken up by Sarah calling and asking if I was coming. Ten minutes late, we met the group at the small parkway by Parley's bridges for a run. We started by doing half mile out and back on the road to the entrance of the trail. After about a mile on the trail the 6:40 pace wiped me out and I ran alone the rest of the run, which was very miserable. I went to Thunderbird, up to Wasatch, past the zoo, and turned around. When I got back I was dead because I didn't get enough sleep last night, and I didn't do the last half mile out and back. Now that I've taken a nice 3 hour nap I might go out again tonight.

| | Slurpee Run... Ew. We met at Sunnyside park and got our lists. We ran to the first 7/11 but the cups weren't out yet so we went to the one on 3rd Avenue. I ran with Kiley, Ryan, and Ethan for the whole thing. At the 2nd 7/11 I got a Strawberry Banana. It was hard to get it down and it was icky for my tummy. At the next 7/11, they set the cups out just as we got there, so the group ahead of us didn't get their slurpees there, cheaters. I got a grape one and it was NASTY but felt great on my tummy. Next one I got a watermelon lime flavored slurpee and we took pictures with the cops. That one tasted gross but was easy on my tummy. The next one I got banana, then the next one cherry, which both tasted delicious but were icky on my tummy. At the last one I got a pinacolada which was easy and delicious. We met up with everyone at Liberty and a somehow ended up walking back up to Sunnyside. Sam, North, and I took turns pushing each other up the hill in a random shopping cart we found. Later a bunch of us went and made some bacon and got more slurpees. I still want more bacon and slurpees.

| | Today after trekking for 8 miles pulling a handcart, Sarah S and I went for a run because we're crazy. We went out 1.25 until we found a cattle guard we never saw while pulling our handcarts, so we thought that we might have gotten lost. We turned around and went back to the camp then decided we wouldn't go out as far anymore. About 3/4 mile out there was a big herd of cows at a pond, and they were really scary, especially when they started running, so we did that out and back a few times to avoid any trouble with the cows.
|
|
| | Today after trekking 11 miles and doing a half mile womens pull, Sarah S and I went for a run. It was dark, so my Ma and Pa made us wear glow bracelets and carry flashlights. We had to stay where we could see the camp, so we ran up and down the hill 24 times. In the morning we realized how steep that hill really was. I'm proud of us.
|
|
| | Today after trekking for 6 miles in the sand, wind, and rain, I went home and took an all night nap after my super long shower.
|
| | We met at Sugarhouse to do the boring old cemetery run. We always start that one super fast, and I fell back early because I was feeling really sick with my sister. In the cemetery I started to feel better, and I did 2 laps there. I ran the whole thing alone, which really sucked.

Today was Pipeline. We did an unusual route today, we ran up the road 2 miles and got on the trail up there which took us 3 miles back down the switchbacks close to the trailhead. After getting off the switchbacks, Kiley and I ran out another 2.5 miles before turning around so we could be at 10. On our way back we got passed by a plethera of Davis boys. Shirtless. And then I went and bought some new shoes at the running company, and I kept track of how far I ran on the dreadmill. So that quarter counts, right?
|
|
| | Today we met at Cottonwood Complex. We did our usual 3 mile loop for a warm up, then instead of doing 800s along the region course we did hills. We did Bertha 4 times, Rollercoaster 4 times, and Miranda (thinsperation!) 4 times. We did the 3 mile warm up loop as a cool down.

| | Today we met at Liberty for a workout. Since Susie and I are racing tomorrow we didn't do the tempo. As a team we did a big lap warm up, to the start line, then Susannah and I finished that lap and did another lap and then I did 12 total strides and a 1 mile cool down. Then Susie, Kiley, and I went to Park Cafe :) Yumm.

| | Happy 62nd Birthday Daddy!!!! Today we met at Liberty Park. We did a lap warm up and after when we all regrouped I realized how big our team is getting. YAY! For the next lap, I started doing Firemen with everyone but then Bill told me just to run 10 miles since I'm not racing tomorrow. So I did laps around the park until I hit ten. It was long and lonely.

| | Because I slept in a tent last night and didn't hear my alarm, I slept in and wasn't able to follow through on my plans to run down to Liberty, watch my friends finish the 10K, and do a cool down with them. So instead, I went up my street to 19th east, over to Sunnyside, up to Foothill, down 5th south to Guardsman, to Sunnyside, down 8th South to 13th east, down 9th south to 9th east, over to 17th south, up to 14th east, and home.

Today we met at Sugarhouse. We did a big loop warm up and then a circle of various stretches and core and such. Then we did a 5 mile loop from the park to 21st and 21st, under the freeway to 27th south, down to Alden, to Parkway, up to 17th east, and back into the park. I went and did a 4 miler after my 4 hour nap today. I went up to 15th east, over to Kensington, up to 16th east, and through Wasatch Hollow up 17th south to 17th east. I went along the curved road until I got to 19th east, then over and down Harrison. At 17th east, I went over to Harvard and stopped at ZoBells for some water because it's hot out there. I continued along 17th east to Yalecrest, down to 15th east, over to Einsteins and Starbucks, and turned around there and went straight home. Now I only have 2 miles to do tonight, but I might do 3 since I'm hitting 65 this week. I did 3 miles just to get another one out of the way. I started at ZoBells and went over on 17th east to 13th south, up to 20th east, over to 9th south, down to 17th, and back to their house because I had a horrible sideache. After a mix of orange juice and sprite I continued my run by going back to 13th south and down to home.

This morning we met at Shoreline for a run. We started by running up Emigration Canyon for a mile, and a the turnaround Tomy and Natalie screamed, which scared me to death. Once we got on the trail, our group split a little. I kept close to Nat until we hit that brutal uphill which wiped me out. I maintained my own pace and we regrouped at the drinking fountain at Red Butte, but then as we were going up to the fence, I started to hurt really badly and couldn't keep up with anyone. When I finished I was too dead to do my full 12, so after my daily nap today I'll go out for another 5. The more miles the better, right? After spending the day doing Zumba with my cousins, I went for another run. I started at my house and ran along 15th east to Sunnyside park, did a lap, then went into the gulley. As I was getting in the gulley I had a feeling someone was watching me, so I looked over and saw my favorite person ever going up the stairs on the other side, looking to see if it was me in the bright pink. Sarah and I did a lap in the gulley together, then went along 17th east to her house for water. After water, I ran home down 13th south and then we went to Baskin Robbins. It was delicious.

| | Happy Birthday Susannah!!!!!!!!!!! Today we drove up to Lava Hot Springs to run and go tubing and such. We did a 6 mile loop, some people did the loop twice, but I turned around at 5 miles because I only wanted and needed 10. I ran out with Sam and Dakota, and back with Sarah. Then we went tubing, which was so much fun!!!

| | I just hit 65 miles. My legs feel it. Bad. Ow. Today since I slept in, I waited around all day for it to get cooler. Finally when it was nice enough outside, I went for my 11 miler. I went to 13th east over to South Temple and all the way down to the Temple. I ran around the block there, then zigzagged my way to Liberty Park where I got some water and stretched. I did a lap at the park before running straight up 13th south. When I got to 13th south and 13th east, I still had another mile, so I ran over to Harvard, up to 15th east, to 13th South, up Westmoreland, down Harrison to 15th, and down Sherman to home. Yes, very detailed, but painful. I'm glad I had my iPod. I would've died. Just kidding. I did die. My legs hurt. Really bad. Ow. I'm so happy right now. It hurts a ton.

When I woke up today I was about 2 hours late for practice, but I felt sick anyway so I waited all day to feel better and for the temperature to drop. When it cooled off a bit I went over to Sugarhouse and ran along the state course plus some strides. I was planning on doing at least 8, but at about 3.5 is where I didn't feel so great and lost all motivation. What a great start to a high mile week where I'll be in a river on a raft for 4 days! |

| | Today we went up to Pipeline for the switchbacks. Up the switchbacks I ran with Kiley, Caden, and Sarah, and 10 feet from the road Kiley biffed it. I'm going to buy her some knee pads because she kneeds them. We ran up the road for a bit, then Caden and Sarah turned so Kiley and I went a little farther to be at 10 miles. On the way down we decided to stay on the road and not go on the trail. We also ran on the boardwalk :)

| | This morning Kiley and I met at Sugarhouse late because we weren't told about practice because everybody hates us because we're annoying. When we got there, we went to 21st south and ran down to State Street, over to 13th south, and up to Liberty. We did a lap at Liberty before going along 7th east to 17th south, up to 9th east, over to 21st south, and we added on a bit at the park. Then we went to Eggs and the City, then after eating our bacon and eggs, we went to the track and ran 1 lap warm up and 3 laps of J's because we were bored. Then we went and got some snowies.

| | Today was Cottonwood. We did our normal 3 mile warm up loop before doing tempo on the region course. I started out alright, but about a quarter mile into it I completely died. When I finished I did 3.5 miles cool down with Kiley by running the 2nd half of our normal loop then the first half and then around the softball diamond. Then we got slurpees.

Today we met at Liberty. We ran 1 lap around the park before heading out for a run. I couldn't keep up because my stomach still hurts from yesterday. I went along 5th east all the way to Granite High School and met up with everyone who had already done their speed changes. I couldn't find any motivation to do them without completely dying, so I just ran back with them, falling behind after about a quarter mile. Later tonight we did a golf run. We met at Bonneville Golf Course and did 1 mile out and back for a 2 mile warm up. We rolled our dice, and I got black, white, yellow, blue, yellow. I felt really sick the whole game, but I pushed through it. On the first one I started farthest back, and ended up 8th, but the worst for me was over. I did better the second one, I think I was 5th or 6th. The third one I couldn't find the yellow, but I was far enough ahead of everyone to be in a good position. But the light on our cone wasn't on, so I let one of the boys ahead of me because I couldn't see the cone. I ended up 2nd in that one. On the next one I was blue, and it was a hilly long run with a lot of ropes. I finished 3rd behind Susannah and Chris. At the last one, I started at yellow with Sarah and Camille. About 5 steps into it, Camille yelled "Hill!" And I slipped and fell down a hill. But I got back up and tied for 1st with Sarah. Then some guy on a golf cart asked us what we were doing. Just striding. We went back to the cars and I was feeling too sick to do any more. I ended up 4th overall, half point behind Nate and half point ahead of Dakota. I was first girl:)

| | We met at Sunnyside park today. We did a lap around the park before running down to the stadium, where we did another mile warm up and a mile of speed changes. Then we did 12 400s with 2 minutes of recovery. I was supposed to be hitting 90. My times were 1:28, 1:24, 1:26, 1:26, 1:27, 1:27 and then I crashed down to 1:35, 1:39, 1:37, 1:36, 1:37, 1:38. We ran up to Sunnyside then did the VA loop before going to Nat's for breakfast. Yum!

| | Today we met at Sugarhouse. We started with a 5 mile warmup loop up to 21st east, down 27th south, over on Alden to Parkway, and back to the park. Then we did 8 hill repeats, where we would run up the hill a little bit, over, up again, over, and up again and then around a couple trees, turned around, and back to the start for 2 minutes of recovery. I felt alright the first 6, but on the last 2 I felt pretty sick to my stomach. We did 8 strides by the river before going on a cool down around the park.

| | Today we met at Liberty for a time trial. We did a lap warm up around the park before running to the starting line and doing strides. Sarah and I were supposed to hit our timed mile between 5:35 and 5:40. At the 800 mark we were a 2:50, so I picked it up a bit but then I must've been gradually slowing down because my final time was a 6:01. We ran to the starting line again so we could start our 800. I wasn't told a time, but I got a 2:55, so my split was better in the mile. For a cooldown I ran a lap around the park with Sarah B, Patrick, and Caden, then a lap with Sarah S and Bill. Then we all went to the Park Cafe since it was our last summer workout. School tomorrow = Afternoon workout = heat. Eww.

| | First day of school, which means afternoon workouts. After a long day sitting in class, we met at the stadium to get our lockers and run. We ran to the gulley and did 3 laps. Someone fixed the hole in the fence we always climbed through, but someone else rolled the whole thing off so we can get through easier now. When back at the stadium, we all did 3 sets of crunches and pushups, 3 sets of planks, wall sits, and arm swings, then we went to the soccer field for 10 short strides. I did 3 grass laps cool down then I had to hurry home.

Highland Invitational (3 Miles) 00:19:21, Place overall: 15, Place in age division: 1 | | Today at the track we did a grass loop around the stadium and stretched before driving over to Sugarhouse for the meet. I did a warm up with Sarah and then we did strides and cheers. The first mile was just getting in position, the second mile I could feel that half a peach, and the third mile I just had to mentally help myself make it to the finish. I raced in my spikes from freshman year, so I logged it as barefoot. Then I did a barefoot cooldown with the team.

| | This morning I woke up and went on my own run. I'm still going to have a really long night run. I started at my house and ran along 14th east to Blaine. I went along 15th east to Sugarhouse, then dropped down to 13th east and ran all the way to Cottonwood Complex. I learned that the bathroom there is exactly 5 miles away from my house, and I was eternally grateful that it was right there. I got a drink at the park and headed back along 13th east. When I got to Sugarhouse, I did a big lap and exited at 17th east and ran down 17th south to the drinking fountain on 15th east. I went back up to 16th east, over to Harrison, and up to 17th east to go home down 13th south.

| | Today was speed. We did things a little differently by splitting up boys and girls. The girls did 2 grass laps warm up and then boys and girls did 1 mile speed changes separately, which was weird to me. Then the girls did our speed. I was assigned to do a 1000 at 3:45, 2 800s at 3 flat, and 4 400s at 85. My 1000 was a 3:43, I checked my time every 200 to make sure that I was still on, which I was. My first 800 was 3:02 because my splits were both 1:31. On my next 800, my split was 1:31, so I picked it up and got a 3 flat. On my 400s I ran 84, 88, 83, and 80. I did grass laps until I was at 7 miles for the day before going home to my gatorade. Too bad I can't have ice cream anymore. :(

Pre Regions (3 Miles) 00:19:20, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 1 | | Today was pre regions. I did a mile warmup with the girls and some strides. I feel like it wasn't enough warmup but I didn't have my garmin. At the start I went out in front, and Sarah came with me and picked it up. It was too fast. When I got to the top of Bertha, I was ahead of everyone by a few meters and I used the hill as a breaker. I kept the lead the entire race until the last time on the rollercoaster. Milika was behind me and even though I gained on her on the downhill, she caught me on the uphill and passed me. I decided I would let her lead a bit but as soon as she passed me I lost it and let her go. I'm never going to do that again. She gapped me quite a bit and I gained some of that back but not enough. At the bottom of Bertha I pretty much peed my pants teehee. I worked up Bertha and kicked it into the finish. I was really upset about what I did but I know how to fix it and it won't happen ever again. I did a mile cooldown while picking up flags. Also, I do not know what my actual time was, I just put a 19:20 because the blog requires it.

| | Today Bill was in Canada so Emily had a new run for us which I actually really liked. We went straight down 9th south to Liberty, did a big lap around to the drinking fountain, I saw my sister, and we got a drink. Some people went up 13th south to 15th east and back to the school, but I continued on with Tomy, Chris, and Sarah along 7th east to 21st south and up to Sugarhouse. When we got to Sugarhouse I did a grass lap with the boys and when we got back to 21st south and 19th east we went up to 21st east and over to 17th south where we caught up with Sarah again. The 4 of us ran together to 13th south, but after that Sarah and I fell off. I caught up to Tomy and Chris at the light on Foothill and Sunnyside, but they were going to go down 5th south to the cemetery, so I just went straight down Sunnyside to the stadium, where I did 10 strides along the 100 straightaway. It was awkward because of the JV Football game, so there were a lot of people watching me.

I started out with a 2:51, but then the next three got progressively slower. On the last 2 I managed to pick it up a bit, but they weren't as fast as my first one. After I put my shoes back on, we ran down to the track and I did 2 grass laps and a football field lap to get to 7 miles today. Now my legs hurt.

Today we did separate boys and girls practice. Olivia and I were the only girls who showed up at Sunnyside Park, so we just made up the run as we went along. We went up to Foothill and went out for 2 miles, then turned around and went down 5th south to 13th east, then we ran up 8th South and Sunnyside back to the park. I'm also going to go run with Sarah when she gets home later tonight. Just finished my night run with Sarah! We started in the circle and went along 17th east to 9th south. We went up to Foothill and down 5th south to Guardsman. We then went to 9th south, up to 17th east and back to Sarah's. Then we got some yummy gelato :) Except they didn't have my every time pistachio >:(

Then we split, JV went up to Sunnyside and Varsity stayed at the track for 5 1000s. I was supposed to be hitting 3:45s. On my first one I passed every 200 mark every 45 seconds, a perfect pace for a 3:45. I did one lap recovery and then we did the next one. This time I slipped because of the wind and got a 3:48. It just got worse from there. My next 3 were 3:55, 4:01, and 4:08. I think the heat was getting to me, or the wind, or the mentality of it. But I kept encouraging others. For a cooldown, I ran up to Sunnyside with Sarah B, Olivia, Avvy, and Ellie. The water at that drinking fountain tasted amazing. We did a lap and then went back, where Sarah and I did a lap in lane 8 to get to 8 miles today. Now my legs are crying "ICE BATH NOW!"

Highland, Bountiful @ East (3 Miles) 00:20:32, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | Today we went down to Liberty park for a tri meet. The girls all took out POTTY break and did a mile of warm up. Then we changed shoes and did some strides. Before starting, I was told to hit a 6:15 first mile then back off to 70%. I went out at the 6:15 pace and a Bountiful girl went out with me. I'm glad that she was with me, she helped me push myself and I got a 6:16 at the first mile. I just needed those 2 steps, but I'm in for Murray. I then backed off a bit, but then the girl fell back and I decided that I wanted to win, so I kept a 7 minute pace average for my last 2 miles and finished with a 20:32. I ran the last half of the course backwards and then did another mile with Emma to pick up the flags.

| | This morning was a mandatory varsity boys workout. I was the only girl, which means I got the locker room all to myself! :) We did the VA loop where we run up Sunnyside, down Foothill and 5th south to 13th east and back to the track. We did 8 hills strides then 2 grass laps and were at 4.75 miles. Then we went to Einsteins for breakfast! Yummy! For an afternoon workout we met at the track for 1 mile warm up, 2 miles speed changes, and 1 mile cool down. I ran the whole thing without stopping and went until my Garmin said 9 miles total for the day. Then we hopped in the ice bath for 15 minutes. I'm ready for you Murray! Now it's time to get ready for the team dinner at my house.

Murray Invitational (3.1 Miles) 00:19:56, Place overall: 28, Place in age division: 1 | | Today when we got to the park I was instructed to take the rookie girls on a mile warm up on the course then take a POTTY break. After that I ran a little bit with the Davis girls so I could pester my cousin with questions about homecoming, it was fun. I put on my racers after that and went to the start with Sarah B and we were the only 2 from East in the varsity race. We did several strides and at the start we were talking about spikes when the gun fired. Fun stuff, right? I felt like I got a good start, fast but not too wearing-out. I kept my pace fast the entire race and picked them and passed them. Just after mile 2, I was passing an American Fork girl then she cut me off. I tried again and she cut me off again. The third time she did it, I screamed "Don't touch me!" elbowed her hard, and took off. I beat her by 2 places. For the part where we cut back into the baseball field, the varsity boys had started. I got over and heard the boys saying "A girl???" Yes, a girl. I worked my way over so I could turnoff into the finish without cutting off any boys, and it helped to have them there because I went faster. As I went down the little hill, the girl in front of me slipped and I almost fell over her. I feel sorry for her, but I'm happy I beat her. I finally broke 20 minutes this season, really good considering I have a cold. I didn't have time for a cooldown, I had to hurry back to the school so I could sing the National Anthem at the football game. After singing, I ran home for a cooldown and now I'm eating breadsticks. Time to go back to the game to support my fellow LEOPARDS! #BeatFremont!

| | I took some NyQuil for my cold last night and ended up sleeping in through practice. I wouldn't have had a ride there anyways though. When I woke up, I ran along 14th east to 17th south up to 16th east over to Harrison Ave up to 17th east over to 9th south and into the gulley. I did a lap in the gulley and then I ran to the bottom where I got out at 15th east and ran home because my cold was making breathing difficult. I finished at 4.25 so later tonight when my sinuses are clear I can go for 4.75.

For the 3 mile I was supposed to hit 22:56 but I got a 22:06. For the 2 mile I was supposed to be 15:45 but I got 15:17. For the mile I was supposed to be a 7:40 and I got a 7:41. Then we ran back up 9th south to the track.

| | This morning for our AM workout we did 1 mile warm up and 1 mile speed changes. Then we did the 200-400 chase workout. I was partnered with Ethan. I did the 400 first, and he caught me pretty fast. He caught me every time and I never caught him, even though I decided to start before he reached the cone. I think he even waited for me to pass the cone to start. For a cooldown everyone did 1 grass lap. Then we had some yummy egg McMuffins and donut holes for breakfast! Afternoon was easy. We ran up to Sunnyside, ran 2 laps, and came back to do our core. I'm currently rewarding myself with a Halloween oreo. Yes, it's September, and yes, they are selling those.

All City XC Championship (3.1 Miles) 00:21:01, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | Today we went to Union Park for the first annual All City XC meet. I did a 2 1/2 mile warm up and some strides. At the start, I went out in front of everyone and kept it the whole race. At the beginning I could hear several people behind me, but coming around the 2nd time I had a pretty good gap. On the back trail along the river I did some speed changes to gap the RH girl and I finished strong up the hill. I like how we were given cold washcloths at the finish. I did a cooldown on my own then the girls and boys each had to do a lap the opposite way. Then we all did core, 5 hill loops, and Tomy and I were the first sharks in Sharks and Minnows.

Then we had some yummy muffins and cereal for breakfast! :) For our afternoon workout we all ran to the gulley and did 1 lap for a warmup then met in the little field. So many childhood memories. Then we did 10 sets of 1 minute fartlek, and in that time I was almost done with my 3rd lap when we finished. Varsity did 1 more lap in the gulley and ran back the same way. Then I got my sweats and a single scoop peanut butter cup ice cream cone from Baskin Robbins before heading home. It was yummy!

BYU Autumn Classic (3.1 Miles) 00:19:58, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | Today at BYU after a long time of napping and cheering on my freshmen, sophomores, and JV runners, I warmed up. I asked Natalie to come with me to give me a pep talk about the race, which made me feel ready. I grabbed my spikes then put them in box 24 for the start, I had it all to myself, and the 2 boxes on my left and right. It helped me get a really good start and when we went to the baseball field, lots of the racers started turning left when we were supposed to go straight, so that's where I picked up the lead. I sat with a pack for the first half of the race, draining on their energy. For the second half, I used the downhill to gap the girls behind me and finished strong. At one point in the race the little girl who had been cutting me off a ton cut me off badly on the corner, so I just went around her and threw in a speed change, and that's where my gap got big. I knew I had to kick because there was a Davis girl picking it up behind me, and as soon as I crossed the finish line I puked. I was so happy though, JV Champion last year, Varsity Champion this year! I did a small cooldown to my car and back because I baked some cookies for Nat:)

| | Today we met at the track as usual and did our Avenues Hills run. We ran down to 13th east over to the little park on South Temple and did 10 hill strides, then we got some water and ran to T street, where we ran North then West until we got to 11th Avenue. At 11th we ran to the fountain and got another drink before doing the Shriners run backwards. I kept getting really bad sideaches from the terrible air quality, I could barely see the mountains! When we got to the track we did 2 progressive 300s, the first one I was leading and being chased by Andy, the second one I was chasing Sarah and being chased by Andy. I did a lap around the football field to be at 9.5 for the day. Now my poor legs hurt. And I'm eating Cream of Cheddar and Broccoli soup. Nomnomnom.

| | For our morning workout we ran up Sunnyside to Foothill and down 5th south to the cemetery. The cemetery gates were locked, but Bill always finds a way around stuff like that, so we squeezed through the fence and did 3 laps of firemen. I survived with the varsity boys and then we ran back along 13th east to 8th south and back up to the stadium. After school we did a speed workout. We did 1 mile warm up and 1 mile speed changes then stretching. Then we ran another lap and then everyone did a timed mile. I was supposed to be between 5:50 and 6 minutes, and I got a 5:59. Then varsity did 2 laps of recovery while JV started their cooldown. After the 2 laps, we did an 800, I was to hit a 2:50 no slower than 3 minutes. Sarah S. stuck with me, which pushed both of us and we got a 2:56. We did another 2 laps before our 4 400s. After each 400 we did a lap recovery. I hit 80, 81, 83, and 80. We did 2 laps of cool down and then I stood in the ice bath for 15 minutes while watching Mean Girls on Emma's phone. Now I'm enjoying some pasta and chocolate lactard milk curled up in my sweats from freshman year!:)

Then we had a really good breakfast with some amazing sausage! For an afternoon workout we ran along 13th east and dropped down through Sugarhouse to Fairmont. Fairmont is all fenced off, so I had to hop it. We did 10 strides on the bumpy grass then ran along 9th east to 9th south. Going up 9th south I ran in the back of the school so I could sing the National Anthem at the volleyball game, and as soon as I was done with that I ran up 8th south back up to the track and took a 10 minute ice bath. I ran around Cottonwood complex cheering on my teammates, then went to the start for my race. I didn't start out very fast, which I regret because the Cedar and Judge girl broke away. After the 1 mile I was in 4th, and I moved up to 3rd by the pavilion hill to try and catch the other two. But I was working alone and they were pushing each other, so it was really tough. I still ran scared because 4, 5, and 6 were all behind me and only the top 5 medal. I finished strong and got a fancy medal on a pink ribbon. I was pretty excited about the pink.

| | My hamstrings were sore all weekend, and my legs were just dead today. We ran to Sugarhouse park and did the state hill 5 times, each was a little over a quarter of a mile. Then we ran over to the other hill along the road and did 4 400s up it and to a certain light post. Then we got water and went over to a new hill which was much shorter but pretty steep. After doing that one 4 times, we did the beginning hill 4 times before running back. I considered going with the boys up to Wasatch Blvd but my legs couldn't take it much longer so I went along 19th east with Nate, Andy, and Anders. Once we turned down Sunnyside is where I couldn't keep up with them anymore, and I hit 10 right at the light by Guardsman. Once I got to the track I got a little OCD about my mileage, so I did a grass loop and a track lap to get to exactly 11, slowly with a horrible sideache. I really hate this pollution.

For our morning run today we got to run in the rain. We went along 13th east to U street, up to the cemetery, up Death Hill to 11th Ave, and did our Shriners run back. On the way to the cemetery I kept up with Tomy and Chris, but died on the hill. I ran alone until the alley, where Dakota and Faysal caught me and I ran back to the track with them. Along 13th east not even a mile into the run, I tripped on a sidewalk bump and skidded on my tummy, getting my white shirt filthy! I scraped my right knee and hip, and my left thigh, elbow, and pinky. Now my whole left hand is swollen and I can't move my pinky. Today after morning practice I went home, slept for 3 hours, went to school for an hour, came home for 2 hours, went to the running store, and got new shoes. Fun, right? My hand feels a little better but Mom says I should still wear the brace. Anyways, for our afternoon workout we did 1 mile warmup and 1 mile speed changes. Then Patrick, Anders, and I led the stretches and then we all did another lap. Then we did 800s until we were done, but I kinda like it when we don't know how many we're doing. We ended up doing 3, and I got 2:54, 2:56, and 2:55, each with a lap recovery. Then we did 400s, and we did 4 of those, I didn't know that though so I was able to hit 80s each time. Then we did 4 200s, and I got 35, 36, 36, and 35. I was pretty happy with the workout because I was hitting my times! I did 3 grass laps cooldown to get to 13 exact for today. I really love my new shoes!

None of us had time to warmup or do strides, so it was right to the line and BAM we're off! I went out kinda fast with a Clearfield girl, but not as fast as I usually go. I didn't know the course so I let her lead the first lap before gapping the next 2 laps. I didn't go too hard for the race on Friday, but I averaged a 7:12 pace. I cooled down with Sarah S and Emma around the school to be at 4 miles for the day before playing on the playground. BBQ time!

Today in the morning we ran up Sunnyside to Foothill over to 9th south and down into the gulley. We did a lap in the really dark gulley and I almost tripped several times. As if I'm not beat up enough already, I tripped again last night and evened out the damage from Tuesday. Anyway, then we ran back to the track and did 3 chase 300s and 2 grass laps. This afternoon we did a track lap then headed up Sunnyside to Foothill, down to Guardsman, and to Sunnyside park. We did 6 strides and then 3 laps of speed changes, marked by flags. Park City Invite (3 Miles) 00:19:48, Place overall: 28, Place in age division: 1 | | Today when we got to Park City I took the JV girls on a warmup to see the course. After about 7 minutes we turned around and went back to our spot. Later when it was time for Varsity to warmup, we went along the course as before. On our way back we had to run alongside the JV boys race, so we had to run in a line and I jokingly said "Firemen!" But then Bill took me seriously, so we did firemen. I did several strides at the start because we were standing there for FOREVER. Finally when the gun went off I started out way too fast. I went up to be in a pack of top 5, but once we were in the middle of that first hill on the trail is where I felt lactic acid coming into my legs and the altitude was getting to me. I tried to stay strong, and I would have parts of the race where I would say to myself "I can't. NO! I can!" and do speed changes depending on how my body was feeling. I honestly hate that course, it's never flat. It's gradually uphill, then a little downhill, but then it climbs up again. I tried to pick up my kick but I felt like I was running away from a really strong vacuum. Nobody passed me though. Overall, I hated this race and I'm glad it's over.

We ran to Sugarhouse and to the start of state, I stayed with Tomy and Chris the whole time. Tomorrow's the last day we can run there until state, and we're gonna be doing our traditional service project so... yeah. We ran an easy pace on the course for 4 minutes, did 15 seconds on, then another easy 4 minutes. Us girls used the 4 minutes to group up again, because we weren't getting too spread apart in 15 seconds. Once we finished the course we all got water and I ran back to the school with Tomy and Chris. My legs felt heavy and worn the whole way back, but I pushed through it because heavy legs is why I gave up on myself at Park City. Now it's time for an ice bath! Once the plumber fixes the faucet!

It made me miss them. Once we got off the trail we went by Popperton Park and down past Shriners and did the usual run back. I finished at a 7:45. For the 1600 we were supposed to start out slower and get 2 seconds faster each lap, and I don't remember my time, but I think I was under 6. For the 1200 we were to just stay even each lap, and I hit a 4:26, perfection. Then on the 200s we just opened our stride. This morning we went up to Pipeline with Natalie! It's so pretty up at pipeline because all the trees are orange and pink and red and yellow and pretty. I kept up with Tomy, Natalie, Chris, and Ryan until almost the turnaround, then I died off a little bit. On the way back I was able to maintain a good pace with Andy. We were doing fartlek on the way back, and I was able to hear Bill screaming "ON!" and "OFF!" For 4 sets, but then I couldn't hear him anymore, so I just had random spasms where I would open up my stride and after I got around a certain turn I would slow down a little. It wasn't really as effective as fartlek, but at least I tried. I added on at the end of the trail, then once we drove down past the booth I took the senior citizen pass from Bill's car and ran up past the booth to Tomy's car. We're seniors, so that counts, right? :) Then we went to Millcreek Cafe for breakfast!

| | Today we ran up to Legacy Bridge and through the dorm area to Red Butte. When we got a little past the yellow gate we did a speed workout. Every 100 meters there was a cone. We did an uphill 200, an uphill 400, and an uphill 600, each with some downhill recovery. Then we did a downhill 800 with 4 minutes of standing recovery. The next 800 was the hardest part of the workout because it was all uphill. But then it was a downhill 600 and 2 downhill 400s. I liked that workout a lot because we weren't doing a ton of laps around the track. Then we ran back to the track the same way and Tomy, Chris, Bill and I did another mile to be at 10 miles. So since it was a 10 mile speed workout I don't feel guilty about this piece of red velvet cake.

| | Today's workout was okay but after the hill work it sucked. We ran up Sunnyside to Foothill and down to the Corner Bakery and up Chakara way to the dorms. Then we went up to the yellow gate like yesterday and up a little trail, where we met the people interviewing Tomy for prep of the week! Yay Tomy! We did some hills for the filming and when those cameraguys left we did more hills then finished the long run. I went with the boys up to the fence and bridge area, then we got on that super hilly trail. It wiped me out. It's so rocky and it just keeps climbing. It sucked and I lost the guys. I didn't know where I was until I recognized that new building along Shoreline, so I got a drink of water then went along Shoreline the usual way until I got off by the zoo, then ran down Sunnyside to the track, where I did a grass lap and out and back to the numbers to be at 11. Overall, today was just a bad workout for me. Tomorrow should be better.

Utah State Championships 2012 (3 Miles) 00:19:10, Place overall: 13, Place in age division: 1 | | Today was state. For a warmup we went up along the hill by the 2 mile mark then ran along and around the pond and through the field. Very descriptive, right? We changed our shoes then did some strides before entering the starting area, where the officials went through all the usual shenanigans with us. Honestly I think we know those rules better than they do. Anyway, at the start I got out hard and thought to myself, "What a great start!" because it was my best start ever. Then a second gun was fired. So my amazing start wasn't so amazing, but I planned to do it again. My next start was pretty good, not as amazing though. I kept getting cut off and I had to fight back. Once up the first hill I worked around the pack and put myself into a good position. Throughout the whole race I had positive thoughts, picking and passing people. At the last 800 mark, Candace and I passed each other back and forth, and after I passed her again she had a longer surge as we passed another girl together, but then the other girl went with her and it made me fall off a few steps. Just a few steps! I started having a mental battle with myself, but I kept pushing all the way to the finish. I didn't have a bad race, but I didn't exactly have a good race either. For a cooldown I ran around with my friend Katie and I talked to some college coaches. Then I enjoyed some oreos.

| | Oh what a beautiful Monday run. Not. We ran up Sunnyside to Shoreline, then we did a new thing where we run up to the Rock Living Room. Literally, UP. I like that better as a hike than a run. We waited at the to for a minute before turning. Coming down, Bill made Faysal and I follow him down the mountain a different way, and Faysal and I almost died because it was so steep and loose and bushy and evil and painful. Then he made us take a different trail than the others which took us above and then we took Legacy Bridge back to the track. I don't plan on doing that run again any time soon.

| | Today we ran over to Sugarhouse along 15th east and to our white tree. Then we did 10 continuous laps down the hill, around the flowerbeds, and back up the hill. Then we did a grass lap, and I couldn't keep up anymore. We ran back along 13th east. It was long and lonely for me. When I got back I did 2 laps.

This morning I woke up early to go on a 4 mile run outside in the 32 degree weather, when my sister reminded me we have a treadmill. After 2.5 miles I realized I didn't have enough time to get ready for school, so I stopped. I'll start earlier tomorrow. For our workout we ran from the track up Sunnyside to Foothill and down 5th south and into the cemetery. There we did 10 sets of 1 minute fartleks. I finished my 10th one right after the start, but I finished my lap anyway. So 4 laps. Then on the way back we did our warmup backwards and I completely died and felt super sick to the stomach. I ran very slowly but I finished then did a grass lap to get 9 miles for the workout.

| | Today we ran on 13th east to South Temple, down to State street, and up to City Creek. We regrouped at the building and ran back the same way, while zigzagging up and over. I kept up with the boys until we started going up City Creek, and on the way down I kept up with them until about 3rd east. Then I missed a few lights and went up and over with Bill. We were going along 12th east and as we crossed 5th south the train honked at us. Yeah I don't want to do that again. I noticed when I lowered my arms that I naturally started to go faster, so I tried to keep them down. We finished at 10 miles right at the gate.

2 miles on the treadmill. I think I'm going to run to Liberty later. After my wonderful end of quarter early-out at 11 am because I don't have a 4th period, I ran from my house down to Liberty, 2 laps, and back. I added on a little on 14th east to be at 6.

| | Today we ran up along Guardsman to Legacy Bridge and over to JCC. Then we got on the Dry Creek trail and ran along there. I fell way behind and got lost, I was on a part of the trail I had never been on before and I was a little scared. When I got off the trail I recognized where I was from driving around with friends last week, so I was able to run down to the fire station on 11th avenue. Then I started to take Shriners run back before dropping down to 13th and going up to the track on 8th south.

And it didn't count as one of my 2 because it was too fast. So my next 2 were 73 and 75, which were acceptable. Then we did 3 grass laps cooldown. The end.

We did 10 strides all up the little hill and then went back to east the flattest way, along 11th east to 33rd south down to 9th east to 9th south and up to the track, where we added 2 laps under the stadium lights because it was pretty dark. After that we ran up Sunnyside to Foothill, down 5th south and into the cemetery, where we did 1 lap then ran back to the track the same way. I did 1 grass lap to be at 9 for today. | | This morning Sarah managed to convince me to get out of bed and go running. So I drove up to her house at 6am and we went running. We ran along 17th east across Guardsman and up to the Institute building, where we turned and went back the same way. It was 4 miles. Then I went home, back to bed, and was late for school. Oops. For an afternoon workout we ran up Sunnyside Ave to Sunnyside Park where we did a lap and met at the tree. Then we did 10 sets of fartlek, 2 minutes on and 1 minute off. I stayed with Patrick and Dakota for the first 5, then I fell off but I caught up by the last one. Then we ran down to the track and while the rest of that group was done, Emma did another track lap with me to get to 6.5 for the run. Then I felt the need to run more, so I did a grass lap and then a mile on the track to be at 8 for the workout. Then we had our awards banquet and I was named Athlete of the Year, and I got my fourth Performance of the Year. It's been a great 4 years of XC.

| | Today was an early out, super early out for me. I was in a hurry so I got my workout done before everyone else got out of school. I went to the track which was covered in snow, and the flakes were still coming down by the zillions. I still did my 1 mile warm up, 2 miles speed changes, and 1 mile cool down under a half hour. I made my own path, so if everyone could still see it by the time they got up there, that was all me.

The second one I had Bill pushing me, and I battled so I was able to hit my time. We added on a bunch by zigzagging the streets before running up the hill to the parking lot. It's cold outside. So now I'm eating some homemade bread and butter. I think I'll finish my cookie dough tonight too.

This morning Sarah and I went for a lovely 4 miler in the icy, dark, slick, 28 degree weather. We started from her house and went up Harrison to 19th east over to 13th south and up to 21st east. Then we went to 21st south and down to 19th east, to 17th south, down to 16th east, to Roosevelt, up to 17th east, a lap around the church parking lot, then up and down the circle. This evening we went out to the Olympic Oval for 5x1000. We did 2 miles warmup and 1 mile speed changes and a recovery lap. Then we did 5 1000s with finishing the lap to the starting line for recovery. I was supposed to be hitting between 3:45 and 4:00 but I was feeling really good (minus the part where I could feel my Barbacoa burrito from earlier, which was very delicious by the way, but I was worried about throwing it up. Luckily I didn't. I love burritos.) So my first 1000 was a 3:32. So yeah I backed off to a 3:42, 3:46, 3:38, and 3:41. Then we did 7 backwards laps for a cooldown to be at 10 for the workout. Now I'm enjoying some fudge while doing my homework. Haha just kidding I'm going on Pinterest.

I don't even want to question our average pace. When we were at the light by the school we still needed 1.2 miles, so we ran around the block at school then ran laps around the teacher parking lot until we were at 8.

I kept all my 200s under 40 and all my 400s under 80. My right hip was hurting again. We did 2 laps cooldown and back to the school to be at 6. Now I'm watching my nightly NCIS and waiting for my pizza to cook.

| | Today I ran from my house to Sarah B's house. We drove to Sarah S's and brought her back to B's so we could run. We ran up Blaine to 15th east over to 21st south and up to 21st east. There we turned onto the road that leads to Foothill, and we ran down the VA loop to Guardsman and across to 9th south. We went to 17th east and stopped at ZoBells but nobody was home to feed us. So we ran over to 13th south and down. We did a lap around the field at Uintah and reminisced about elementary school and complained about the new playground stuff. And how they chopped down the big tree. We ran down to 15th east and then down my street. I hit 8, then the Sarahs continued to B's house. I just had my last Twinkie too. RIP Hostess products. I've always loved you and I hate to have to say goodbye like this. TWINKIES FOR LIFE!

My uphill times were 3:57, 3:58, and 4:05. My downhill times were 3:30, 3:25, and 3:30. We did 400M recovery each time. Then I ran down Sunnyside on my own. I ran with Emma for a little bit but I really had to hurry so I basically sprinted down the hill.

| | Today was great because Natalie's home for Thanksgiving break! But the run sucked. I am not thankful for Dry Creek. We ran along 13th east up into the avenues to the cemetery, where we ran up Death Hill to 11th ave and down City Creek. We got some water at the bathrooms before heading up Dry Creek. It was so hard! I'm surprised I did better than I thought. After the 3rd challenging hill, I ran with Ethan and Sarah down the rest of the trail because it was getting dark. At the end of the trail I really wanted to be done and got a motivational kick. I ran down through the U campus along Guardsman and down Sunnyside ave to 14th east, 9th south, and the school. The others added on to 15, but I thought that I was farther behind them and my legs are still throbbing. It's bedtime. Oh and I'm eating corn chips.

We ran to 15th east over to 21st south, up to 17th east, and over on Imperial street. We stopped at 3 miles to stretch and turn around. We went back the same way but when we got to 17th south we dropped to 14th east for the last half mile, which I completely crashed on. It was a pretty hard run for me. |

I kept up with Natalie and the boys for the first 3 miles at a lovely 6:40 pace, but then I dropped down to a 7 minute pace and after my 2 laps in the cemetery I was at about a 7:15. I tried to keep my pace under 8 minute while I made my way back. It was a hard run for me.

Today we met at the Oval for a really tough speed workout, and my body was NOT agreeing with me today. We did 2 miles warmup and a mile speed changes and a lap recovery. Then I went potty and we did some drills. Then we did a timed mile, I hit a 5:54. After recovery we ran an 800, I ran a 2:53. Then I took another potty break, so I missed the start of the 2nd 800. I jumped in at the 400 and did a 400 at 82. Then I did my 2nd 800 at 3:10. Ick. Then I had to take another potty break. Yay. Then we did 4 300s. My last one was a lot slower than my first 3 because I didn't have anyone to push with. It was really annoying the whole workout with the speed skating meet, all the coaches standing in lane one, the bleachers in the first 3 lanes, cones everywhere, and crowds of people. We did 5 laps cooldown, and yes, I had another potty break. Then we went to IKEA and ate some breakfast, yummy! And now I'm home eating some more cereal. I was supposed to run 3 miles tonight, but I only needed 4.25 to get to 60, so I decided to just do that. I ran up 13th south to 17th east over to Yalecrest up to 18th east to 13th south to 19th east and over to Sunnyside. I ran down to Greenwood Terrace and over to 9th south and back up to 17th east, where I ran to Harrison Avenue and all the way down to 14th east and home. I felt pretty good the whole run and I came home to some delicious pizza.

We met at the bottom of the sledding hill where we planned on 8 400s around the hill, but Bill changed his mind and we only had to do 4. On the hillier ones I hit 93 and 96, and on the downer ones I hit 84 and 86. Then we did a really steep hill 4 times before doing a 2 mile tempo. I was supposed to average 7 minutes and end at 14 minutes. My first mile was a 6:52, but then my pace dropped a little and I ended up at 14:04. Yikes. I ran back at about an 8:15 pace with Sarah and we finished right at 9. It was grand.

Footlocker Seeded Girls Midwest 2012 (3.1 Miles) 00:20:11, Place overall: 68, Place in age division: 1 | | I did my own warmup on the inside of the corral so I could cheer for people and have some space. I did some speed changes then ran back to our team spot, changed shoes, did some strides, and went to the line. I did some more strides, made friends with the people who elbowed me on the line, and raced my guts out. I didn't want to start too fast, but I didn't want to lose the pack, so I went out just enough to not burn out, but I had plenty to work up during a race, which is what I usually do and it works for me. I was boxed in the first mile anyways. My first mile was a 5:55, and I worked with some other individuals breaking from a big pack up the switchbacks to another pack. Then I used the downhill to catch more girls and ditch the ones I had been running the hills with. I struggled on poop out, but I took the downhill really hard. I started to mentally lose it at the 2 mile, but Bill and Tomy were there cheering, so I was able to keep myself going. Then I saw one of my friends from another school and thought to myself "try to beat her for once" so I worked with her up reservoir hill, and used the downhill to give myself a fast last 600. I passed so many girls once I got onto the track! I puked in the chute, so an official grabbed my tag, took my place in line, and another one helped me to the garbage can and gave me water. After all that, I went to our team spot, then saw my Aunt and Uncle, then did a short cooldown while cheering for Tomy in his race. It was a great race!
