The Steeplechase was scheduled to start at 7:45, so Carrie and I went to the water barrier at about 7:00 to get some practice jumps. During the jumps, I almost ran into the barrier and with my sudden stop, my green shoe totally ripped. Bill wrapped athletic tape around it, and the blue one so that it wouldn't rip more. Cheapo shoes that cost a fortune. When Carrie and I went to get our numbers, I was seeded 1 and she was 5. The race people then told us that they moved it to 7:30, giving us no time to warm up whatsoever. We did a couple of strides to get our heart rates up before starting. For the first lap, they didn't have the first and second barriers set up, but when we got to the 200 mark we had the first one. My first jump into the water pit was alright, and I got out of it fast and went over the next barrier. I wasn't really thinking about the barrier right after the finish line, and saw it just in time to step on it and jump off. I worked my way up by keeping my eyes on the next girl, picking and passing. There were only 8 girls in the race and top 6 get medals, so my goal was to have at least 2 behind me. When I was on my 4th lap coming up on the barrier before the water pit barrier, I was watching the girl in front of me trying to pass her. I noticed she was dying on the hurdles of the barrier and then I saw that I was really close to it. I simply stepped over it as fast as I could and sprinted to the water pit. As I passed the girl the tape on my green shoe went flying off, and when I went into the water pit she passed me. When I got out of the water pit I sprinted to the girl and cleared the next barrier before her and looked at the 2 and 3 girls battling for 2nd because Carrie had a big lead on them. Going into my last lap I made every jump on the barrier and my water jump was alright. Coming out of the water pit on that last lap I saw that I could potentially catch the two girls in front of me, so I really worked it to that last barrier and to the finish. I didn't catch them, but it was my first time doing Steeplechase ever, and I'm happy with my time, happy with my place, and happy with my race. We watched the boys run and watched our Utah boys get 1, 2 and 6, then watched our boys 4x800 take 2nd and girls 1st. Then Bill took Carrie and I on a 3 mile cool down just around the big field and the stadium. Then we all went to Applebees for dinner. Time to focus on the 3200 that I didn't prepare for... Good thing Nat's flying down tomorrow and bringing me my old spikes, since these crappy overpriced spikes that I loved so much are really no good anymore.

Today I went on a morning 2 mile shakeout run with Carrie. We ran from our hotel to the track and back. Later that evening after we watched Disney's Beauty and the Beast on TV, we went to the meet. I did 1 mile of warmup with Carrie, Miranda, Summer, and Natalie. As we got our numbers and spiked up we met up with Emily and lined up. I got an okay start, not to fast, but I wish I had went out harder with my fellow Utah girls, who took spots 1-5. I focused on picking and passing people. There was a New Mexico girl who said the F bomb every time I passed her, so I distanced myself from her because it was really annoying. I spent the rest of the race chasing after a Nevada girl, and I failed to catch her. I feel like I did horrible, but the happiness from the Steeplechase yesterday was still in me so I didn't let it bug me. Oh, I also raced in my old purple spikes that Natalie flew down with her this morning. Thanks Nat! I did a mile cool down barefoot around the field with my fellow teammates before going on our nighttime adventures, like laying in the middle of the road after midnight.

Up Sunnyside with the group, ran alone on Shoreline to the fountain where I saw everyone, and ran back along Legacy with Tomy. It was a really hot day.

Speed workout today. We ran up to Sunnyside park, did a lap, and came back to the track. After a mile of speed changes we did our workout. Sarah S, Sarah B, Dakota and I did a set of 400 and 800. Sarah S and I were to hit 80 and 2:45. We got 78 and 2:51.  Then we did a set of 4 400s at 85. I got 82, 84, 85, and 79. We thought we were done, but then Bill surprised us all with another set of 800 400, 2:45 and 80. I got 3:09 and 86. We did a mile cool down before Susannah and I went and made waffles.

Today we met at Sugarhouse park for a run. We planned on running to the cemetery, doing a lap, and coming back, but as soon as we got to the cemetery Bill had made us some fartlek surprise, 20 minutes, which took 3 laps. When we got back to the park we were at 9, so we ran down to the entrance and back to the normal spot for 10. I hurt.

Today we met at the park and ride for Pipeline and then drove up the canyon. I ran on the trail we normally run on with Olivia and Camille, and Bill told me to turn around at 2.5 and run back alone. It's pretty scary running on a trail alone but I got over it. It felt amazing to run on a cool trail in the morning! I've missed Pipeline so much. Since last summer...

Today I went to a USATF meet down at UVU. The officials didn't want to time our race or set up the barriers because of 45 mph wind, but we wanted to compete anyway. I started out fast and spent the first 2 laps drafting off of the other girl, but then she was crashing and going too slow for me to draft, so on the third lap after drafting on her for the backstretch I went ahead of her. All my landings in the water pit were on both feet, had I landed properly on 1 foot the wind would've knocked me down.

Today we met up at Sugarhouse park for a run. We just did the cemetery run. I started out with Sam and Kiley, then Bill caught up to us and we picked the pace up to 6:40, which made me crash when we got to the cemetery. After the cemetery, Kiley, Nate, and I picked it up to a 7:45 and held that pace all the way back.

Today we met at Sunnyside park and did a big lap around the park before running down to the track. We did 6 sets of sprint 200, jog 100, sprint 300, and walk 200. I kept my times pretty consistent and fast at 36-37 for my 200s and 54-56 for my 300s. When we were done we ran up to the park and did 8 barefoot strides in the wet and freshly mowed grass. Now I'm off to Lagoon with the best Auntie in the world!

Today I ran from my house to Sunnyside and met up with Sarah. We did a lap in the park, then went to the gulley. On the 2nd lap I felt really sick and decided to run home. I made it to the top of my street before almost collapsing.

Sarah got me out of my lazy boat this morning and we went up to run on Wasatch. We started at the zoo, ran along Wasatch all the way to the drinking fountain, along the trail for a bit, then turned around and went back the same way. We kept a good pace the whole run and were both dead by the end.

Today we met at Sugarhouse at 8 for a run. Since Bill wasn't there, Tomy was in charge, and the only directions he gave us were "Keep up." I tried for the first 2 miles, but then felt super sick. Kiley and I got lost up at Tanner park, and we never found the dog park part where we were supposed to get on the trailway, so we just ran back down to 23rd east and over to 33rd south, down to Melbourne, and back along our cemetery route. So much for avoiding that one. When we got over the freeway, we decided to do a grass lap in the park to get to 8 as planned. Instead we ran to a drinking fountain then went back to the cars, but the others had finished at 7 so yeah. I'm dead.....

Today we met at Sunnyside park for practice. After waiting half hour, we finally could start. We went to the gulley and did 2 1/2 laps and back to the park. Then we spent the next HOUR listening to Bill talk about a bunch of stuff we could've talked about on the run, then did some core. We went to run the Foothill loop, and when we got to Guardsman Bill changed it to Shriners run, and when we got to Shriners, to the Firestation. I was super ticked off at this point, and I'm not the only one who was fuming. Ki and I ran back along Guardsman and finished our 10 miles in the park, where Bill told me not to train with the team for a week because he wants to see if I want it. Well, I want it so I AM GOING TO GO TO PRACTICE, not sit at home. Running alone = zero motivation.

This morning I went with Susannah to Highland, where we did 3 laps around Sugarhouse park.

Later I went hiking for stake mutual and it was 4.5 miles long. Natalie and I ran the last 8 minutes of the hike, so I'm counting it as a mile. No I didn't really do it barefoot, just in some of my old trainers.

Morning run at Wheeler Farm. Since I was late I did a backwards lap to find the group, and when they were done with the warm up Bill and I ran farther. Then as a group we did 8 strides then 2 circuits. After we did a cool down running around the farm until we were at 8. I need to do 4 more today, so Susannah will probably drop me off 4 miles away from home when we're going back from the movie.

Everyone should go see Madagascar 3, it's great! Then run home from the theater in 98 degree weather. Fun stuff! I went up 33rd south to 13th east, over to 17th south, up to 14th east, and home. Now I'm enjoying my homemade vanilla ice cream! Because it's frozen! :)

Mom dropped Sus and I off at 62nd south and Holladay Blvd. We were to run home from there. I was okay the first mile and a half, but then I completely crashed. The rest of the run was horrible. I'll go do my other mileage later so I don't have to do much tomorrow.

Went out for another run to get to 11. I went along 14th east mostly because it was nice and shady. And that leaves only 8 miles for tomorrow :)

Today I went to Pipeline with Susie. I ended up running alone and my plan was to turn at 4 miles, but I hate trail running alone because I can always hear wild animals in the bushes. I turned at 3.5 and when I got back to the car at 7 miles I ran up the road and along the boardwalk. I love that boardwalk. So much.

Today we met at Sugarhouse park for cemetery run. For the first 2 miles I kept up with Tomy and Natalie at a freaking 7:15 pace, so I went down to an 8:15. When we got in the cemetery I found my ancestors. As soon as I got out of the cemetery I completely crashed and stayed at about a 9:20 pace the rest of the way. Near the end, Bill and Camille caught up to me and we went to the drinking fountain. Then we saw my twin(Ben!), he was wearing a neon t shirt just like me and grey shorts just like my skort. We finished the run at 7.5 miles. I don't know what I'm supposed to hit this week and I even asked about 4 times.

We did a 2 mile warm up plus strides and I felt pretty good. For the fartlek we did a ladder, 1 off 1 on 1 off 2 on 1 off 3 on 2 off 4 on 3 off 4 on 3 off 3 on 2 off 2 on 1 off 1 on 1 off. You were too lazy to read that weren't you? For the first half I did alright, and after the first 4 minute on I mentally prepared myself for the 2nd half but then my stomach said no. I worked through it best I could and completely died on the cool down. I was pretty miserable, but at least I gave everything I had to the workout.

Met at Cottonwood Complex this morning. We did a big lap along 13th east to St Marks, down to 11th east, over to 45th south, and to the bottom of Bessie. We did 8 strides in the shade, then did 6 800s along the region course as tempo. My first one was 3:30, then 3:18, 3:36, 3:30, 3:33, and 3:12. For a cool down, we ran around the softball diamond, but then I couldn't keep up. I followed the group to 45th south, then I didn't see them when I was on 11th east. I didn't want to make them wait long for me, so I went back into the complex and got some water and ended at 9.

Today we met at Liberty for a run. When I got there, it was just the girls, and Bill had started a lap so we started a lap. When we finished the lap he told us that we didn't have to do that lap because we were going on a 10 miler. We ran up to 9th east, all the way to 3rd avenue, down to Memory Grove, and up to City Creek. At the drinking fountain, Nat, Kiley, Bill and I met up with Tomy. As soon as we turned around and went down, I could feel myself crashing. Darn it Tomy for picking up the pace. Dumb boys. Just kidding. I went down to State Street and then zigzagged my way back to Liberty Park, stopping at the well at 5th east and 8th south. I finished at 11 for the morning and hopefully someone will go night running with me tonight.

Today I slept in so I decided to wait for a night run. When it got cooler it was pretty dark, and my mom would only let me run back and forth along 14th east, so that's what I did for 2 miles. It sucked. I will for sure be hitting 60 this coming week, rather than getting sick.
